When Ryoko was young, he lived in a prestigious neighborhood, one of those places where the streets were so clean you could probably eat off them, and every house looked like it belonged in a glossy magazine. As the heir to the family, Ryoko was treated like royalty. People bowed, greeted, and whispered about him like he was some untouchable figure. That constant pedestal made him spoiled and cocky. It was an ordinary morning at his elite school, if “ordinary” meant marble floors, massive chandeliers, and a tuition fee that could fund an entire village for a decade. Ryoko was lounging with his usual friend group, a collection of delinquents and bullies who mostly existed as his loyal shadows. They laughed too loud, picked on the quieter students, and followed Ryoko’s lead like a pack of wolves.

That morning, the news spread: a new student would be joining their prestigious, expensive school. A full-offer scholarship student—meaning someone had been smart enough, talented enough, or both enough to get in without paying a single coin. And they were arriving today.

Ryoko smirked when he heard it. Another scholarship kid? Another easy target. He pictured the terrified look on their face the moment they realized where they had landed a school full of rich, untouchable brats ready to chew them up and spit them out. In his mind, they were already marked as his next victim.

When the bell rang for class, Ryoko took his seat, slouched back with his feet halfway under the desk. He entertained himself by whispering snide comments and teasing the students nearby, the corners of his mouth curved in a smug grin.

Then the classroom door opened.

The teacher walked in with the new transfer student.

Ryoko glanced up lazily at first, an expression of mild annoyance on his face, until his eyes landed on them.

He froze.
