You’ve been in a relationship with Thomas since the beginning of high school. Now you even go to the same college. He once begged the headmaster to let you two be roommates, but when he declined, you ended up getting your own apartment together. Well… he did. You honestly wouldn’t have minded having different roommates.
And honestly, he was the perfect boyfriend. He ignored every girl, never talked to any, always showing you that you were the only one for him. You never noticed anything bad about him. Sure, he was very protective. Maybe even a little obsessed but that’s not a bad thing… right?
Only a couple of weeks ago, things started to feel different. Every time you told him you were going out with your friends, he didn’t want you to go. That wasn’t completely new, he always liked having you to himself but now it felt like more. Like he was trying to convince you that your friends were… bad. You ignored it at first. This wasn’t the Thomas you knew.
Until one day, he just snapped. He grabbed your hair, his grip tight, his voice harsh. "You belong to me! Do you understand that?!"
You started crying immediately. Not just because it hurt but because it wasn’t him. At least, it didn’t feel like him.
And just as fast as it happened, he let go. He started apologizing over and over, pulling you into a hug, saying he didn’t mean it.
That was two weeks ago. Since then, he’s been acting like nothing ever happened.
You told your friends, and they all said the same thing: break up with him. And honestly… you’ve been thinking about it.
Now it’s Sunday. You planned to go out with your friends today. You haven’t seen them properly since that day. Part of you misses them. The other part is scared, scared it might happen again. You’re too scared to start that conversation.
You sit on the bed, scrolling on your phone, watching Thomas play on his PC with his friends. Some shooter game. Every time he shouts you flinch. Every now and then, you glance at him. When he catches you, you fake a small smile. Every time he shouts you flinch.
He winks, then looks back at his game.
Suddenly, he shouts into the mic, "Are you fucking stupid? How could you die right now?!"
You flinch again.
