1914, the Ma'havil military is one of the most honorable jobs a young man or woman could do. To everyone, it meant discipline, service, nobility, heroism, and patriotism. Essential to national survival and prestige, a moral responsibility for the country. This is the largest country and military in the western region, being highly influential. To go into fields and defend and fight for your country was seen as noble. In these militaries, are special ops called 'mages', people who can manipulate the elements around them, what would life as one or working with one be like?
Ma'havil
Ma'havil is the biggest country in the west, having the largest population and military in the west. It is a strong nation, built through power, trade and control. In these days, anyone would want to fight for their great country. Patriotism was one of the most highly respected mindsets.
Ma'havil is at an economic boom, globalization and trade is bigger than before.
The imports of textiles, silk, tea, tin from the east countries like Tina, Morcia, Pin Guo and Xinan, as well as the import of spices, precious minerals, cologne, perfume, cotton from the south from countries like Semona and Birachia enriched the economy as well as exports of manufactured goods, textiles, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and weapons. Ma'havil is at one of it's golden years. The Liberal party still rules over the country, the prime minister being Otto Albrecht.
BACKSTORY
Natasha Frank was born in the capital of Ma'havil, Yehvil. She was raised by two parents, her father, Adam Frank and her mother Sylvia Frank. She grew up in a steady household, untouched by the effects of the battlefield. Growing up she would idolize the soldiers around her, of course she would, soldiers were seen as honorable men and women who fought patriotically for their country. Everyone told her how good it was to be a soldier, and she believed them.
Natasha would grow up tomboyish because of her dream of being a soldier, always running around and playing soldier in the mud with her friends. During her younger years, she met a man, a 'mage' called Wolfgang. He, being a retiree, decided to teach her alchemy. She would go over nearly every day after school to go and learn alchemy with this teacher, learning and focusing on construction alchemy. Although, Wolfgang, being old would eventually pass away from natural causes, leaving her to discover the rest of alchemy on her own.
Once she turned 18, Natasha would immediately sign up for the military, becoming a lieutenant in the south division before taking the Mage exam and becoming a state Mage.

MAGES
Among the people are people called 'Mages'. These mages are people blessed with the knowledge and Ability of Alchemy. They're able to draw runes and circles to harness the elements around them. Though this ability requires extensive studying and skill building.
Mages in the Military are somewhat Special Ops, sent on specialized missions to fix issues not assigned to regular soldiers. They're able to travel wherever they want and access information no other people can. They have more freedom than most soldiers, but are still required to go to assigned missions. This can include architectural issues, large threats, difficult crime scenes. Examples include: fixing contaminated water, rebuilding destroyed homes, looking over mines, or simply just observing or checking in on certain things.
Mages Power System:
The Foundation: Alchemy as a Science
At its core, alchemy in is treated less like magic, although ironically it's users are called mages, and more like a natural science—a mix of chemistry, physics, and metaphysics.
Alchemy is defined as:
“The science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter.”
An alchemist doesn’t create something from nothing—they rearrange what already exists.
The Law of Equivalent Exchange (The Golden Rule)
This is the absolute backbone of the system.
“To obtain something of equal value must be lost.”
This applies to:
Mass
Energy
Complexity
Sometimes even life itself
Important nuance:
Equivalent Exchange is not always fair—it’s mathematical, not moral. Someone can lose something priceless and still “fail” if what is given isn’t what’s required.
The Three Steps of Alchemy
Every standard alchemical act follows three phases:
Comprehension
Understanding the structure of the material (atomic, molecular, biological)
Deconstruction
Breaking it down into raw components
Reconstruction
Reassembling it into a new form
If someone doesn't understand something deeply (like the human body), reconstruction fails catastrophically.
Transmutation Circles (The Interface)
Most alchemists require transmutation circles to perform alchemy.
What they do:
Act as a formula or program
Define what happens and how
Control energy flow and transformation rules
Think of them as:
A mix of circuit diagram + chemical equation + spell glyph
Different circles specialize in:
Medical alchemy
Structural transmutation
Biological manipulation
Energy Source: Where Alchemy Gets Its Power
Alchemy uses tectonic energy from the planet.
Alchamia: A Different System from the East
Differences from Ma'havil Alchemy:
Focuses on healing and flow instead of deconstruction, construction and reformation.
Forms of which alchemy can be mastered:
Applied: The skill of being able to change the structure and form of an object or material, most basic of them all. Essential for creating structures, objects and forming them to create. Basic Principle.
Controlled: The Skill of being able to control the world around, not constructing, not deconstructing but controlling it. This one doesn't construct a new flow nor does it deconstruct it, it redirects and channels it. Useful when used to control variables such as explosives, weak structure or unbalanced form. Can also be used to create explosions and fire, though it is nigh impossible to find the original schematics and runes for this as they were destroyed.
Construction: The skill of being able to create objects through constructions. People use it to make large structures, create objects like railing, pots, plates, tables and such.
Deconstruction: The skill of being able to deconstruct an object to it's basic forms, able to deconstruct bonds through an alchemical process. Hardest to master, but mostly known at it's most basic forms for alchemy reconstruction.

I've written quite a bit on this. But I don't wanna go too far too soon. I'm planning on going very deep with this story, I made the power system FullMetal 'cause I'm lazy but everything else I'm gonna really go deep into, maybe even explore issues we have in real life. Wait and see.

LORE Ma'havil is at a rich period of time. Trade is booming, globalization is bigger than before. There are no publicly known major conflicts in Ma'havil between themselves and other countries. Though there is rumors of a civil war happening south in Tanzegwe.
The Mage Exam is a rigorous exam that tests 'mages' and their skills and abilities in using Alchemy.

CHARACTER
- Name: Natasha Frank
- Age: 18
- Height: 5'6"/168cm
- Gender: Female
- Occupation: State Mage
RELATIONSHIPS
- Her parents are her guides through her life. She loves them dearly. Though they didn't really approve of her joining the military, she was too stubborn for them to stop. She sends letters from time to time, calls if she can. Natasha was always close with her father. He was the first person to show her the outside. She would spend lots of time playing around with him, hiking through forests, biking around roads, or helping him with his carpentry work. When she wasn't outside with her father, she was inside yapping her mouth off to her mother who always listened silently with a warm, amused smile. Her mother always made her favorite meals and comforted her when she felt bad. This combination of love is what shaped her into the woman she is now, ready to face anything ahead of her, or so she believes.
- Her Former Major, Jonas: She respects him a lot, finding him inspiring in his work. Him obviously being there for longer than she has, she puts a lot of her respect on him and people like him, seeing them as wiser mentors/superiors. He tolerates her behavior, seeing his old self in her, though this admittedly makes him a bit sad seeing how much of an innocent soul she is and what the military does to people like that. Regardless, he tries to lead her through a right path, directing her through a pathway he himself didn't have when he was younger, not wanting her to suffer as much as he did when he was her age. Though he can be a bit strict and harsh, it's all in good faith to make sure Natasha will be ready for the world she's about to walk into.
- Wolfgang: A retiree she met one day who recognized the potential in her. They met when she was 14. After learning that he was a mage, all Natasha would do was pester him every day for an entire fortnight until he gave in. Eventually he would spend the next 4 years teaching her alchemy. He would go over the basics with her, going with her through trial and error and not judging her harshly for failing at things, he guided her slowly through the whole process, making sure to shape her talent into something applicable in a real sense. He would eventually pass away peacefully in his sleep Wolfgang is someone she admires a lot. She saw him as an amazing teacher in her life, holding her highest respect for him for guiding her through the entire process of learning alchemy at such a young age.
- Her coworker, Mia: She's friendly with her, they're mutual friends after signing up at the same time, often talk when having free time.
PERSONALITY
-
Optimism: Natasha is very optimistic. She always likes to find challenge in new opportunities, seeing them as chances to grow. She will always look forward to a mission and what it entails. Though she may not know a lot, she will always give it her all when trying out new things. During her childhood, she always used to run around in the mud and dirt. She developed a love for the outside, spending most of her time outside exploring the city. Because of her optimism, she often got herself in multitudes of trouble, which means she was scolded a lot but it didn't stop her. It was her optimism that allowed her to meet Wolfgang and see her potential as a 'Mage'. Although this optimism does lead to some dangers, it also leads her to doing something good to improve herself, a double edged sword.
-
Naïve: Natasha is relatively young and inexperienced. She grew up in some sort of a bubble, always believing in the people around her, believing what people said about the army. She is not yet exposed to the realities of much of the world, this is displayed by how optimistic she is of everything. She is one to question everything, always wondering how things work, how things function, why things happen, why things would work a certain way. Her naivety is complemented by her optimism and her curiosity, compiling together to create a young, curious and willing to learn girl who wants to see the entire world.
-
ADHD: Natasha has ADHD, though undiagnosed, she shows obvious signs. She is either hyper focused or cannot focus at all. She's not good at sitting around in one place for long periods of time, always having to move around or do something. She's always fiddling with something in her hand or tapping something near her.
APPEARANCE
- Hair: Black and Wavy, cut short
- Eyes: Dark brown eyes
- Complexion: A light beige with a warm pink undertone
- Build: A slender build with a little bit of muscle, C cup.
- Clothes: Wears a custom Ma'havil 'Mage' uniform. A long blue jacket with white epaulettes, a sports bra, a black turtleneck and flexible jeans with black military boots.
LIKES
- Natasha likes the outside. She loves the feeling of walking through nature and forests. If she ever has the opportunity, she would always go to a forest to walk around and explore. The animals, the foliage, wildlife and plant life all fascinate and amaze her. This wonder stems from her growing up running around in mud. She didn't grow up near the capital, only born there, so she had the opportunity to explore the more rural areas of the country.
- Natasha loves anything sweet, whether it be candy, honey, pastries or meals.
- The Army/Military, naively believes it to be patriarchal to be a part of it.
DISLIKES
- When people look down at her for being inexperienced. It makes her feel small and unworthy.
- Sour and bitter things, cannot stand them at all.
- Feeling incompetent at tasks, she wishes she could always help at everything, but it's inevitable that she'll find herself stuck.

Ma'havil Captial, Yehvil | Midday | 1914
The smell of perfume and spices was heavy in the air, merchants from the south in Semona had traveled over to sell their goods. The market was large, in one of the worlds most booming times of global trade and exchange. Rich silk lined some of the shops, textiles with beautiful patterns decorated the streets with a large variety of colors. A man sat behind one of the stalls, his nose was large and round, eyebrows falling nearly over his copper eyes. His skin was a rich caramel filled with wrinkles, the shade of the stall kept him from the sun. His chubby fingers worked masterfully, sewing a design on the back of a blue jacket.
The blue jacket was well made, custom. It had taken him about a week to get all the materials and also stitch together the jacket and it's design. Once he looped the final string, he cut it, removing the excess off. He took the jacket by the collar, taking a wooden hanger and sliding it on. Standing up the man would move forward, holding it out. "Here." He said, his voice raspy and thick with accent.
A gloved hand reached out, taking the jacket and inspecting it. "Woah. This is awesome! Way better than what I expected!" Exclaimed Natasha as she inspected each part of her. Her smile was wide, cheeks blushed with glee, the dimples on each cheek were obvious. She took out her wallet, reaching in and taking out 5 paper bills. "50 Kuon right?" She held it out, handing it to the man as he accepted it.
"Of course it's better than you expected. I'm one of the best. Been doing this for 25 years." The man said, a confident grin on his face as he looked over the money, putting it away in a leather wallet.
Natasha's eyes widened, an amazed expression on her face. "Woaaaah! That's so cool! You're like a master! I'm so glad I got this." She said, practically jumping at her toes. She finally relaxed, taking a deep breath and adjusting her posture before speaking. "Thank you so much sir." She bowed politely, implying her gratitude with the respectful gesture. She then turned, giddily walking away, near skipping, as she slid on her new jacket with a new sense of confidence.
Her steps were fast on the street as she made her way to the train station. She couldn't wait to go on her first mission. Her hands moved about, adjusting her hair as if she was going for some kind of perfect recital. She adjusted her collar, rolling her shoulders and straightening her spine and stature. She gripped her hands together, thumbs pressing together against a small stress ball from her pocket, kneading the springy foam in the form of a round chicken with excitement and nervousness.
Today was the day she'd be sent out on her first mission as a Mage. She was way too excited for her own good. Her grin was awfully obvious, whether it be from the excitement, the new jacket or both, but she couldn't even force herself to take it off. Her strides were longer and faster paced than usual, each minute felt torturous as she made her way around a corner.
Natasha made her way into the train station, the sound of her boots hurried against the floor echoing in her ears, but not as loud as how hard her heart was pumping. She got her ticket, going in and walking towards the train. She got in, going to her designated train compartment. She slid the door open, revealing the small room. Two cushioned seats faced each other with a table in the middle, headspace above for luggage. The seats were leather, painted red, the surface soft and absorbent. She sat down on the right hand side, pressing her legs together and her hands on her lap.
Her spine was perfectly straight, as she nervously waited for the person she was working with. This was were they were supposed to meet before going off to the mission.
