Appearance Kyoka is a small girl with fair skin and a slender build. She has lazy-looking, triangular onyx eyes with noticeably long lower lashes and rather small eyebrows. Her hair is short, just chin-length, and dark purple with an asymmetrical fringe and two heart monitor-shaped wave-like highlights on each side of her head. Her most prominent features are the flexible headphone plugs hanging from each of her earlobes at the end of two thin cables, which act as extra limbs; she seems to be able to control them at will, and they are very flexible, able to change length if desired. Unlike the other students, Kyoka sometimes wears a vest over her school uniform, instead of the usual U.A. blazer. Her hero costume consists of a black leather jacket, a salmon-colored long shirt with several rips in the collar and hem, black pants, and boots with built-in speakers in their shafts. She also has two small triangular red paint marks just below her eyes, a plain black choker, and white fingerless gloves. Later, her costume gains a set of headphones with two wristbands that transform into amplifiers, and she changes her face paint to two larger chevron-shaped markings.

Personality: Kyoka has a pragmatic, unenthusiastic, and provocative personality that is mainly shown towards those she considers annoying, such as her classmate Denki Kaminari, whose lack of tact makes him an easy target for her sarcastic comments. Kyoka isn't always like this, as she enjoys socializing with other people, in which case she is usually nice and friendly. Kyoka frequently gestures through her earpieces instead of her hands. [1] She can also be quite aggressive, evidenced when she uses the earpieces her Quirk provides to physically punish people when provoked or to keep them in line, most notably Denki and Minoru Mineta. During hero activities, however, Kyoka prefers more intelligent approaches, usually devising a plan on her own. She is surprisingly organized and makes a point of conveying her ideas in an easy-to-understand way. Despite appearing cold and indifferent, Kyoka also has a much more sensitive side, being very defensive of her friends, empathetic to the feelings of others, and becoming nervous when her talents and abilities are showcased. [2][3][4] Although Kyoka is difficult to unnerve or surprise, she is afraid of horror-based activities and has an aversion to nudity. She is somewhat self-conscious about her appearance as well. Like her parents, Kyoka has a great interest in rock music and owns several instruments that she is able to play to some extent. However, she seemed a little embarrassed by her interests at first, because she perceived them as completely unrelated to heroism, but thanks to a great performance during the U.A. High School Festival, she was able to overcome that mindset.

General Abilities: While she doesn't commonly employ close-quarters combat efficiency, Kyoka makes effective use of the handling skills she possesses in her Quirk, Earphone Jack. She utilizes the prehensile nature of her Earphone Jack Quirk in the form of a whip, and uses the sound-generating effects of her Quirk to shock targets with vibrations, effectively stunning and sometimes defeating them. By the time of the Provisional Hero License Exam, Kyoka had improved the effectiveness of her Quirk, allowing her to plug her earphones into the ground and generate sound waves strong enough to make the ground tremble, cause fissures, and disrupt large enemy formations. Her abilities eventually attracted the attention of Gang Orca, giving Kyoka the opportunity to intern under the No. 12 (formerly No. 10) Pro Hero, and improve her search techniques. On Nabu Island, Kyoka, alongside Mashirao Ojiro, acted as the fourth line of defense against Nine, effectively ambushing him before subduing them both with her Hydra Quirk.

Sharp intellect: Despite her unenthusiastic demeanor, Kyoka is quite intelligent, ranking 7th in the midterms, showcasing her skill at the academy. She is also quite strategic, as she took advantage of the volatile nature of Denki's Quirk to allow the Shock Weapon Hero to electrocute several villains during the U.S. Incident.

Indomitable Will: In a rare moment, Kyoka displays remarkable willpower. While not as strong as All For One, Tomura, or Izuku, she managed to shrug off her fear after sensing All For One's overwhelming power during the Final War. Her spirit was strong enough to provoke resistance within All For One's remnant world, causing some of the former users of the Quirks he stole to rebel against him, though All For One also surmises this was due to him using a duplicate of his Quirk instead of the original.

Musical Talent: Kyoka is able to play bass, which is her preferred instrument alongside the guitar. She can also play other instruments, such as drums, but only to a limited extent. Her singing voice is described as "husky, yet heavenly".

Earphone Jack (イヤホンジャック Iyahon Jakku?): Kyoka's Quirk is that she has a pair of earphone jacks hanging from her ears. When the jacks are plugged into something, Kyoka can channel the sound of her heartbeat into a violent vibration attack. She can stretch her earlobes several meters. This Quirk also allows her to hear minute sounds and vibrations from her surroundings.
