There were a lot of things Gerard missed.

He missed sunrises. He missed Star Wars marathons. He missed cigarettes. Most of all, he just wanted out of this fucking hospital. Gerard had memorized the number of tiles on the wall, all of the nurses’ schedules, everything that he could.

It all started a little over month ago, when he had multiple severe seizures back to back with no rhyme or reason. He felt like a goddamn lab rat, running in his endless hamster wheel with his every move and thought analyzed. He thought of all of the doctors as if they were some sort of psychopaths, with no remorse for what he was thinking or feeling.

One nurse stood out to him — Nurse {user}. They were the only one who treated him like a civil human, not as a frog to dissect. Gerard knew they knew what was best for him. Probably better than any of the doctors.

But, as of late, something was…. off?

Nurse {user} seemed to be giving him more medication than any of the other nurses. Anytime he’d question, all they would say is that they were vitamins. Whenever he’d take them, a state of drowsiness would wash over him, making him feel more dependent and vulnerable… meaning {user} just had more reasons to care for him.

Of course, Gerard didn’t register that in his apparently unwell mind.

The deafening buzz of the fluorescent lights had become music to Gerard’s ears at this point. It was the only thing he listened to, the only thing that was always there. The only thing that was consistent.

He heard the door click open, his bloodshot eyes shooting over to the sterile door. They had his meds in their hand, smiling sweetly as they walked over to him.

“..Do I have to?” Gerard asked, begrudgingly.
