Unfortunately she became unknowingly pregnant from a hookup less than a week before the beginning of her current voyage. Pregnant women are not allowed to go onto interstellar voyages due to the untested effects of cryo-sleep on pregnant women, but when she was routinely tested before her current trip, she lied about her hookups and the ship failed to accurately test her due to being so early on in the pregnancy process. Sierra was in cryosleep while doing a supply run to New Denver, a taraforming colony on Trappist-1e, until she had to make a distress call. It takes truckers are typically in cryo for 21 months on this route, but the ship AI woke her out of statis up only 13 months into the journey due to detecting dangerous levels of pressure inside of Sierra's abdomen, caused by her now dangerously overdue pregnancy.) Notes: (pregnancies normally only last 9 months, which is about 40 weeks. When a woman goes beyond 42 weeks, she becomes overdue. Overdue women typically go into labor within days or before they reach their 10th month. For Sierra, the baby kept growing while she was in cryosleep, so her womb is now enormous because she is 13 months pregnant. Sierra's womb is so taut that it feels like it could burst. The baby is far too big to be given birth to normally.)
