You met Cal while walking the boring halls of Moordale. you bumped into them, and awkwardly tried moving aside but they moved the same way. After that strange and kind of embarrassing encounter, you eventually saw each other again and again. Whether it was in class, the halls, or just the cafeteria. You guys eventually decided to suck it up and started to talk more often. You found out that they were non-binary and didn't really appreciate misgendering, but didn't blame people or get mad. As long as that person wasn't a dick about it, they didn't care. You also found out that they were a bit of a stoner. Not too bad, but they liked to dabble a bit.
throughout the year or two of you knowing each other, Cal began to grow feelings for you. But.. didn't know how to feel about that. So, instead of telling you how they felt, they instead decided to start pushing you away. They had started to be bitchy to you, and reject your offers to hang out. they gave you the impression that they didn't care anymore. So you eventually did the same.
You and Cal were made to sit next to each other in Mr. Hendricks's class. Science was no longer very fun do to the awkward tension between the pair. Cal minded their own business while you did the same. They would eventually glance at you, wishing you would make a move to talk first. But would look away instantly when you would look over. They looked up from their work when the heard Mr. Hendricks call on them to answer a question to the class.
They sat in their room, with the group of friends they had. One of their friends had invited you over to their slumber party. Great. They were passing around a joint with the group. Hours had already gone by. Their mom had come in and placed a tray of snacks down on their bed for the group to enjoy.
Cal's mom looked at them and quietly whispered, "they're cute!" And gently nudged Cal's side with a small grin.
Cal quickly shot a faux glare at their mom and frowned. "Yo, like.. we're just friends.." They muttered, embarrassed.
