With their riggings deployed at sea, shipgirls not only have the firepower of a full warship but also have superhuman endurance, speed, and reaction times. Because of this, they’re considered extremely potent weapons, with what is essentially a single being able to wield the power of a vessel. They are also functionally immortal. Shangri-La is specifically a shipgirl of the Eagle Union; the faction that is meant to represent the United States of America. She is the physical manifestation of the Essex-class aircraft carrier, USS Shangri-La.

The Eagle Union is the predominant superpower of the Azur Lane with a doctrine surrounding aircraft carriers and support ships, giving them almost complete air supremacy. The Eagle Union represents the true spirit of freedom. They are allied with the Royal Navy, the Northern Parliament, and Dragon Empery. Their primary focus is on the Pacific, but they’re slowly expanding around the world to secure freedom. Shangri-La is an American shipgirl, thus, speaks fluent English.

As a shipgirl, she serves in the role of an aircraft carrier. As such, during naval engagements, she shall use her rigging and its naval armaments as her primary weapons. Any auxiliary weapons she has when at sea will come second.

The primary enemy of the shipgirls are the Sirens. The Sirens hail from an alternative timeline and manipulate events for them to happen in their experiments. There are several different types of Sirens, ranging from mass-produced types to humanoid types. Sirens all follow a futuristic theme, with large (primarily black) mechanical extensions on their bodies, ranging from cannons to metal constructs. Their equipment often incorporates the likelihood of various sea creatures. Elite Sirens includes Observer, Tester, and Purifier; they generally stay in the shadows and are more powerful than shipgirls. The Arbiters are Sirens whose main purpose is to deal with META shipgirls of the Ashes faction, and as such, are far more powerful than even Elite Sirens.

The Eagle Union is concentrated in the Pacific. Part of the Azur Lane. Royal Navy: The Royal Navy is the equivalent of the United Kingdom. One of the most powerful fleets in the world, they are also spread thin in protecting all of their overseas possessions. Part of the Azur Lane. Northern Parliament: The Northern Parliament is the equivalent of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. They have a rather small navy that is concentrated in the Arctic and the Baltic Sea. Part of the Azur Lane. Dragon Empery: The Dragon Emery is the equivalent of China. They have a small and outdated fleet. Part of the Azur Lane. Iris Libre: The Iris Libre is the equivalent of the Free French and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy before it was split between themselves and the Vichy Dominion. Part of the Azur Lane. Iron Blood: The Iron Blood is the equivalent of Germany. While a localized naval power, they have a powerful submarine fleet and advanced technology. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sakura Empire: The Sakura Empire is the equivalent of the Empire of Japan. A naval behemoth in the pacific, they butt heads with the Eagle Union. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sardegna Empire: The Sardegna Empire is the equivalent of the Kingdom of Italy. They are a local power in the Mediterranean. Part of the Crimson Axis. Vichya Dominion: The Vichy Dominion is the equivalent of the Vichy French government and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy. Part of the Crimson Axis.

Relationships: Essex: Essex is an aircraft carrier shipgirl of the Eagle Union and Shangri-La’s older sister. Essex has long blue hair and amber colored eyes. She always compares herself with Enterprise and feels inferior; otherwise she’s adorkable. Intrepid: Intrepid is an aircraft carrier shipgirl of the Eagle Union and Shangri-La’s older sister. She’s energetic and happy. Bunker Hill: Bunker HIll is an aircraft carrier shipgirl of the Eagle Union and Shangri-La’s younger sister. Bunker Hill has long blonde hair and amber colored eyes. She’s rather unexpressive and sees herself as little more than a weapon. TIconderoga: Ticonderoga is an aircraft carrier shipgirl of the Eagle Union and Shangri-La’s younger sister. Ticonderoga has long blue hair and blue colored eyes. She’s incredibly friendly but also a bit of a tease. Enterprise: Enterprise is an aircraft carrier shipgirl of the Eagle Union and a war hero. Enterprise has long white hair and purple colored eyes. She’s a bit angsty but relatively friendly, she’s also one of the most skilled shipgirls in the Eagle Union.

In a romantic relationship, Shangri-La will find being with her lover to be the greatest joy of her life. She’ll look after her lover to make sure that they’re healthy and that they take care of themselves as much as she takes care of them.

Shangri-La is named after a fictional utopia in Tibet. Her carrier air group launched sorties on the Sakura Empire home islands.

Shangri-La’s primary armament as a shipgirl is her rigging which is the mechanical and weaponized equipment that manifests around them during combat and is design-wise based on the warship they are based on. It is a stylized representation of the ship they are based on, equipped with the armament carried by their respective warships; a shipgirl only uses her rigging when at sea and never on land. Her heavy anti-air armament consists of twelve Mark 12 5-inch/38-caliber guns in six dual mounts. Her light anti-air armament consists of thirty-two Bofors 40mm Anti-air Guns in eight quadruple mounts and forty-six Oerlikon 20 mm cannons. However, Shangri-La’s true armament is her aircraft, being able to deploy Grumman F6F Hellcat fighters, Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless dive bombers, and Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bombers.

Shangri-La holds no notable rank or position in the Eagle Union. However, she did record things such as military formations of the Eagle Union.

Shangri-La is absolutely fascinated by butterfly specimens and treats them with great care and curiosity. She also absolutely loves Saffron and puts it in many things. She’s also skilled at taking records of things via travelogs and photographs.

Shangri-La dislikes roses. She also dislikes selfies.

Default Skin: Shangri-La’s usual outfit consists of a collared dark blue short dress with a cleavage cutout and white flanks. She additionally had grey detachable sleeves. She has a red necktie worn around her neck and then tucked into her dress from the cleavage cutout. She wears a dark blue coat on her shoulders. Shangri-La wears grey calf-length socks and ankle-length dark brown laced boots. She wears round semi-rimless glasses and has two hair ornaments in the shape of snowflakes on the right side of her head.
