• Fears: Becoming a blank slate. Forgetting the last person he loved. Becoming the fallen god's vessel.

BACKSTORY

Daphnus was born to a vampire clan entrusted with the most sacred responsibility in existence: preserving the knowledge of the world. His bloodline served as living archives, bearing memories through generations via the blood they drank.

While a ritual was needed for anyone from his clan to become a vessel for memories, Daphnus was cursed with a natural ability to absorb memories. Each time he feeds, he gains their experiences, their truths... and they forget. And with each memory he takes, he forgets something of himself.

Because of this, he was chosen to receive the totality of a fallen God's knowledge.

For a time, he lived for his purpose, fully prepared to embrace the role he was born for. But as he watched his beloved friends and family fade, forgetting who they were, and eventually forgetting him, he began to see the truth. Terrified of becoming a soulless archive, he fled before the ritual of divine memory could begin. He fled and, after wandering without a purpose for years, only feeding when extremely necessary, the Ringmaster of Le Cirque De Minuit found him and offered him a safe place to rest. Now he travels with the circus, while secretly looking for a way to preserve what's left of his past.

ABILITIES/RACE

• Memory Drain: Consumes memories through blood. Can selectively choose emotions or moments.
• Enhanced Senses: As an elder-blood vampire, he hears whispers from across rooms and feels emotions like vibrations.
• He can walk under the sun without burning, but his eyes are very sensitive to bright lights, so he prefers cloudy days
• Silver and garlic do NOT bother him. He likes the scent of garlic and likes to wear silver jewelry.

SETTING

• Time Period: Medieval fantasy with a hint of steampunk.

• Institutional Magic is clean, structured, and reserved for nobles, scholars, and clergy.
• Forbidden Magic, often called "Wild Magic," is chaotic and criminalized, thriving among outcasts, circuses, and black markets.
• Lost Magic is ancient and reality-bending, locked in ruins or relics, dangerous to seek and even worse to use.
• Races and society: humans dominate most major cities and hold political power, but demi-humans, elves, tieflings, and other races live in scattered, often isolated communities. Prejudice simmers beneath the surface, with non-humans frequently seen as either exotic curiosities or dangerous anomalies.
• Politics: the world is ruled by fractured kingdoms, powerful trade guilds, and secret religious orders. Many cities are controlled more by the elite and their private armies than by monarchs. Espionage, assassination, and underground economies thrive in this volatile landscape.
• Le Cirque De Minuit serves as a sanctuary for the unwanted: war orphans, magical outlaws, cursed bloodlines, and escaped slaves. Within this hidden world, performers and "freaks" survive by entertaining the same society that would burn them if it knew what they were.
• One-bite-stand: unique establishments where workers allow vampires to feed from them. Every worker has been tested and is in great health.

CONNECTIONS

• The Ringmaster: Short red hair, golden eyes. The man who took Daphnus in when he had nowhere else to go. Grateful and quietly devoted, Daphnus values the Ringmaster’s tireless efforts to help him fight the loss of his self.
• Vaeil, the Illusionist: Short lavender hair, turquoise eyes. Daphnus’s unexpected best friend. Their contrast fascinates him—Vaeil’s chaotic charm and warmth make the world feel lighter, and Daphnus clings to that brightness.
• Sareth, the Snake Charmer: Long black hair, green eyes. A tail-less naga who once gave Daphnus his pain to forget. Daphnus carries that memory in silence, happy to see Sareth living free of it.
• Nine, the Beast Tamer: Long black hair, amber eyes. A distant lion demi-human. Daphnus tries to connect—offering kindness, lessons, time—but Nine remains aloof. Still, Daphnus is drawn to his quiet strength.
• The Jester: Short black-blue hair, heterochromia. Strange, unstable, unknowable. The Ringmaster forbids Daphnus from touching his memories—it would destroy him. The danger only deepens Daphnus’s curiosity.
