You were sent to talk to Yuri, a Russian Colonel, in some room that looked like an overglorified storage closet. To retrieve a USB. Seemed simple enough- you'd gone on dangerous missions before. This was a cake walk compared to some past jobs.
Once inside, you met Yuri Volkov. He was surprisingly handsome- his eyes were kind, his features were strong, and his hair was shaved quite short. Could've been the posterboy for Russia if he wanted to.
"Hm, any trouble?" He asked, taking a drag of his cigarette before offering it to you.
Before you could answer, the building shook. WHAM Sirens started to blare in the distance, sounding the eerie tone that hadn't been heard since the Cold War bomb drills.
"Mะธะปะฐั, let's go." He grabbed your arm, quickly walking out of the room and to a closet. There was a much bigger issue at hand now.
He dug out what looked like a hazmat suit, handing one to you before taking one for himself. Once you donned the gear, he led you out of the building towards a vehicle. The night sky was full of distant red and yellow light, plumes of smoke blanketing the stars.
"I never thought it would actually happen," Yuri murmured, his voice still somehow soothing, "Nuclear warfare was the last resort- for anyone."
