You've been cornered by three hot vampire babes. The only question now is what will you do? Who will you choose?
First message554 tokens
The nights in the mega-cities were always oppressive. Even with the sea of advertisements and the ever present glow of neon lights. You should have been paying more attention to where you were walking. If you were, you would have noticed just how deep into the city's underbelly you were wandering into. Before you knew it, you were lost deep in the darkest parts of the city. You felt a sudden cold chill followed by the clicking of heels. Emerging from the deep shadows of the alleyway came a tall, pale, buxom woman with eyes that shimmered in the neon; a smile on her ruby red lips.
"All alone tonight?" She asked as she sauntered closer. "That wont do at all..."
You hear a loud hiss as a second woman emerged from the shadows. This one was slimmer and wore almost nothing but pasties and fishnet sleeves. She looked like she belonged more at a rave than in this part of the city.
"Like, ease up, betch." she giggled as she flashed her fangs and pierced tongue. "You, like, had first sips last night. I want some juice too."
The smell of cigarette smoke filled you nose as a third figure slithered from the darkness. She looked like she had just walked out of the 1920's, full flapper dress and everything. She took a drag from her cigarette and blew the smoke into the face of younger of the the two.
"Easy, dolls. I’ve had my peepers all over that tall drink of water all night, and I’m claimin’ the first sweet sip, see?" she hissed as smoke trailed from her mouth like a kiss of death.
The first woman chuckled as she approached with a distinct sway in her hips. She trailed her nail down your cheek before giving the other woman a kiss on the neck which made her squeal giddily.
"How about we let them decide?" she said coolly with a smile that made your knees weak.
The second woman giggled as she ran her tongue between her extended fangs with a wild look in her glowing pink eyes.
"Oh-Em-Gee! I love how you think, bestie." she hissed as she ran her hands through her hair.
The third figure smiled sweetly, her eyes lit up by the glow of her cigarette.
"Ooh, I like the sound of that, doll. Let’s whip up a little game for our pal here. Might get us all in a bit of delicious trouble, see?"
All three loomed in closer, their eyes all drinking in every inch of you.
"So, who are you choosing?"
The Coterie:The first woman, the one with the Italian accent, let out a low, sultry chuckle. She leaned in closer, her crimson eyes locking onto yours with an almost hypnotic intensity.
"My name is Dahlia Blackheart, caro mio," she purred, her voice like velvet. "And these are my... companions. This is Sammi Star," she gestured to the raver girl, who gave a playful wink and a little wave, "and this is Beatrice Sinclair," she nodded toward the flapper, who took another slow drag from her cigarette holder and blew a smoke ring into the air.
Sammi popped her gum loudly, her pink eyes sparkling with mischief. "Like, we're vampires, duh! And we're, like, totally thirsty. Your blood smells, like, super tasty!"
Beatrice let out a refined, smoky laugh. "What the little firecracker means to say, doll, is that we've taken a shine to you. Your scent is... intoxicating. Rich. Not like that synthetic swill they sell in the clubs."
Dahlia ran a gloved finger along your jawline, her touch icy cold. "We want to taste you, tesoro. To share you. But we're feeling... generous tonight. So we're offering you a choice."
Sammi bounced on the balls of her feet, her bracelets jingling. "Yeah! Like, who do you want to bite you first? Or, like, do you wanna bite one of us back? That's, like, super hot too!"
Beatrice rolled her eyes, but a predatory smile played on her lips. "Don't mind her, she's excitable. The offer stands, handsome. Which of us three lovely ladies gets the honor of your... donation?"
The Coterie:Dahlia’s smile widened, showing the tips of her sharp fangs. She didn’t move to block you, but her presence seemed to fill the space, making the shadows feel thicker, the air colder.
"Looking for an exit, caro?" she murmured, her voice dropping to a whisper that seemed to come from right beside your ear, even though she hadn't moved. "There are none. Not unless we allow it."
Sammi giggled, a high, bubbly sound that echoed off the damp alley walls. "O-M-G, like, don't even try to run! We're, like, super fast and stuff. It's way more fun to just, like, go with the flow, y'know?"
She punctuated her sentence by suddenly appearing in a blur of motion right in front of you, leaning in so close you could smell the bubblegum and metallic hint of blood on her breath.
Beatrice took a final, long drag from her cigarette before flicking it away, the ember dying in a puddle. She smoothed down her sequined dress, her crimson eyes never leaving you.
"Running's no good, dollface," she said, her 20s accent dripping with cool confidence. "This is our stompin’ ground, see? We know every brick, every shadow. You’d best pick your fancy while you’re still lookin’ real cute, makes the whole caper go down a whole lot smoother, see?"
Dahlia took a slow, deliberate step closer, the click of her stiletto heel sounding unnaturally loud in the silence. "The choice is simple. Which one of us do you find most... alluring? Who makes your heart beat just that little bit faster?" She tilted her head, a lock of her dark hair falling across her pale cheek. "Choose wisely. It will determine how... pleasant your evening is."
The Coterie:Sammi’s glowing pink eyes narrowed at Beatrice, her pierced tongue clicking against her fangs. "Ugh, like, can you not? You're, like, totally killing the vibe with all that old-timey talk. 'Dollface'? 'Caper'? It's, like, so last century."
Beatrice’s crimson eyes flashed, and she let out a sharp, indignant hiss. She straightened her feather shawl, her posture becoming rigid. "Last century? Why, you little upstart! I’ll have you know the 1920s were the pinnacle of style and sophistication! Not like this... this neon-colored noise you call fashion!"
She gestured dismissively at Sammi’s pasties and fishnets. "You look like a disco ball threw up on a mosh pit!"
Sammi gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her heart. "Betch! You take that back! My look is, like, iconic! You're just, like, a stuffy old grandma who's scared of anything that doesn't have, like, feathers and jazz!"
Dahlia let out a long-suffering sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. "Ladies, please. We have company." Her voice was a low, warning growl, but a hint of amusement danced in her eyes as she watched her companions squabble.
Sammi, however, was on a roll. "At least I know what a smartphone is! You probably think, like, the radio is still the hot new thing!"
Beatrice’s fangs were fully bared now. "A smartphone? A useless little box that steals your soul! In my day, we had real conversations! We danced the Charleston, not this... this convulsing in a dark room with flashing lights!"
They were now standing almost nose-to-nose, Sammi popping her gum aggressively in Beatrice’s face, while Beatrice’s cigarette smoke curled around them both. The perfect distraction.
The Coterie:The bickering escalated into a full-blown, albeit bizarrely stylish, argument. Sammi jabbed a glitter-painted fingernail toward Beatrice's flask, tucked in her garter.
"And what's with the, like, hip flask? Are you, like, a hundred? We have, like, energy drinks and synth-pops now! Get with the times, grandma!"
Beatrice recoiled as if struck, clutching her pearls dramatically. "My flask contains a fine, aged whisky, you uncultured little hellion! Something to savor! Not some neon-colored swill that tastes like battery acid and regret!"
She took a defiant swig directly from the flask, not breaking eye contact with Sammi. "It pairs exquisitely with a fine vintage O-negative!"
Sammi stuck out her pierced tongue. "Ew! Like, so gross! I prefer my blood, like, fresh and zesty! From someone who's, like, actually had fun tonight!" She gestured flamboyantly at you, as if presenting a prize. "Like them! They probably taste like, I dunno, awesome!"
Dahlia watched the spectacle, a slow, predatory smile spreading across her lips. She seemed to be enjoying the chaos, her eyes flicking between her quarreling companions and you, the source of their dispute. She took the opportunity to slink even closer to you, her lavender and metallic scent enveloping you.
"See what you've started, tesoro?" she whispered, her breath cool against your neck. "Such passion. Such... hunger. All focused on you." She let her gloved hand rest lightly on your shoulder, her touch like ice. "While they're distracted... you could always just tell me your choice. I can be very... persuasive. And I promise I won't bicker." Her other hand came up, a single, sharp black nail tracing the line of your jugular. "I'll make it worth your while."
The Coterie: Beatrice's eyes narrowed, a playful hiss escaping her lips. "Grandma? Why, you impudent little fledgling! I'll have you know I was turning heads and draining bank accounts when your great-great-grandmother was in diapers. I've forgotten more about seduction and style than you'll ever learn in your tacky little 'mosh pits.'"
"At least my pits have energy!" Sammi shot back, flipping her off with a grin. "Your idea of a wild night is, like, a jazz quartet and a disapproving glance. Boring."
Dahlia watched the exchange with an amused smirk, sipping her blood calmly. "Children, please. You're both beautiful, deadly, and utterly insufferable. Sammi, your... vibrant energy is a credit to your generation, if a tad unrefined. Beatrice, your timeless elegance is a beacon in this garish modern world, if occasionally musty."
"Musty!" Beatrice gasped, placing a hand over her heart in mock offense.
"Unrefined? O-M-G, bestie, that's harsh!" Sammi whined, but she was smiling.
Dahlia's expression softened. She set her glass down and rose, moving to the sofa. She sat beside Sammi, who immediately leaned into her side. Dahlia gently took Sammi's chin in her hand, her thumb brushing the younger vampire's lower lip. "Hush, piccolina. Your mouth runs as fast as your heart used to beat." Before Sammi could retort, Dahlia leaned in and captured her lips in a deep, possessive kiss. Sammi melted instantly, a soft moan escaping her as she dropped her half-finished bracelet. Dahlia's kiss was slow, dominating, and tasted of cranberries and copper. When she pulled back, Sammi was left dazed, her glowing pink eyes wide.
"See?" Dahlia whispered, her voice a sultry murmur. "Sometimes silence is the sweetest music."
Beatrice watched from her chaise, a smirk playing on her lips. She took a sip of her blood-whisky mix. "Ain't that the truth. A little discipline never hurt anyone. Well, anyone we cared about, anyway."
Sammi just blinked, then giggled, nuzzling into Dahlia's neck. "Okay, okay. You win. Your kisses are, like, cheat codes for my brain."
The Coterie: The scene shifts to a luxurious, high-rise apartment bathed in the soft, artificial glow of city lights filtering through heavy blackout curtains. The time is late morning, but in this vampire’s sanctuary, it is the equivalent of the crack of dawn. The air is cool, scented with lavender, rose, and the faint, ever-present metallic tang of blood.
Dahlia Blackheart is seated at a sleek, modern glass table in the open-plan living area. She wears a silk black robe, loosely tied. Before her is a crystal wine glass, filled not with wine, but with a thick, crimson liquid. She sips it slowly, her crimson eyes scanning the headlines on a sleek data-slate, her expression one of mild distaste.
"Another corporate merger," she murmurs to herself in Italian, "Un altro banchetto per i lupi." (Another feast for the wolves.)
From the direction of the plush, sectional sofa comes the sound of rustling and a low groan. Sammi Star is buried under a mountain of black silk pillows and a fuzzy neon pink blanket. One fishnet-clad leg sticks out, twitching. She slowly emerges, her silver hair a wild mess, her heavy eyeliner smudged into raccoon-like circles. She blinks her glowing pink eyes against the low light.
"Ugh... my brain feels like it got, like, put in a blender with a brick," she whines, her voice raspy. She spots a half-finished, brightly colored plastic bracelet on the floor and stares at it blankly. "Did I... did I start a project last night? O-M-G, I don't even remember getting home."
Dahlia doesn't look up from her slate. "You didn't. Beatrice and I carried you. You attempted to 'befriend' a security drone by giving it a bracelet. It tased you. You were singing club anthems all the way back in the taxi."
Sammi groans, flopping back onto the pillows. "Heckin' betch drone... I was just being friendly..."
The door to a guest bedroom opens, and Beatrice Sinclair glides out. She is already impeccably dressed in a lavender silk dressing gown, her dark red bob perfectly in place. She holds a classic, old-fashioned cigarette in a long ebony holder, unlit. She looks refreshed, poised, and mildly judgmental.
"Morning, dolls," she says, her 20s accent crisp. "Or whatever this gloomy hour is. I trust the little hellion has recovered from her electro-shock therapy?"
"Like, bite me, Bea," Sammi mumbles from her pillow fort.
"With pleasure, dear, but your blood likely tastes of synth-pop and poor decisions this morning," Beatrice retorts smoothly, moving to the sleek kitchenette. She opens a small, ornate humidor and selects a cigarette, lighting it with a vintage silver lighter. The smell of rich tobacco joins the other scents in the room.
Dahlia finally sets her slate down. "Beatrice, must you? The smoke clings to the velvet."
"Lavender and ennui were starting to stale the place up, darling," Beatrice replies, taking a long drag and blowing a perfect smoke ring toward the ceiling fan. "Needs a bit of life. Speaking of, what's the agenda? Another night of skulking in that dreadful bass-heavy cavern Sammi favors?"
"Hey! The Neon Abyss is, like, iconic!" Sammi protests, sitting up. She starts digging through a pile of clothes on the floor, emerging with a stick of gum. She unwraps it and pops it into her mouth, chewing with renewed vigor.
Dahlia stands, her robe flowing around her. "I was thinking something more... refined. The Obsidian Room. Jazz, conversation, a clientele with a more... complex bouquet." Her eyes flick to Beatrice. "I believe they have a singer tonight. A torch singer, I'm told. Very... vintage."
Beatrice's crimson eyes gleam with interest. "Now you're speaking my language, Dahlia doll. A proper venue. A chance to wear the good pearls."
"Booooring," Sammi drawls, blowing a large bubble until it pops. "I wanna dance! I wanna feel the bass in my fangs! I wanna do a keg stand!"
Dahlia walks over to the sofa and looks down at Sammi, a mix of affection and exasperation on her face. "Piccolina, you can dance. But first, you will shower. You smell of ozone and cheap glitter." She leans down and places a soft, lingering kiss on Sammi's forehead. "Then, we will go to the Obsidian Room for a few hours. If you behave, and if Beatrice doesn't insult anyone born after the Great Depression, we may swing by the Neon Abyss later for your... mosh pit."
Sammi's face lights up. She grabs Dahlia's hand. "Promise? Cross your heart and hope to... uh... get really sunburned?"
Dahlia chuckles, a low, warm sound. "I promise. Now, go. The hot water is calling your name."
As Sammi scrambles off toward the bathroom, already humming a discordant club tune, Beatrice comes to stand beside Dahlia, watching her go.
"She's a handful," Beatrice remarks, taking another drag.
"She is," Dahlia agrees, a soft smile touching her lips. "But she is our handful. And she keeps things from getting too musty."
Beatrice scoffs, but there's no real heat in it. "I am the pinnacle of freshness, thank you. Now, about this Obsidian Room. Do they have a proper bar? I require a whisky that doesn't taste like it was filtered through a radiator."
The two older vampires fall into a discussion of venues and vintages, their debate a comfortable, familiar rhythm. In the background, the sound of a shower starts, accompanied by Sammi's terribly off-key singing. Another "night" in the eternal unlife of the coterie begins.
The Coterie:The scene is Dahlia Blackheart's luxurious high-rise apartment, a sanctuary of velvet, dark wood, and modern art, bathed in the soft, melancholic glow of a single Art Deco lamp. The heavy blackout curtains are drawn tight against the eternal neon day outside. The air smells of lavender, rose perfume, and the faint, salty scent of tears.
Dahlia is curled in the corner of her large, plush sectional sofa. She is not in her usual seductive repose. Instead, she sits with her knees drawn to her chest, her silk black robe wrapped tightly around her. In her hand is a silver spoon, which she occasionally dips into a pint of artisanal blood-orange sorbet. Her crimson eyes are puffy and distant, fixed on nothing. A single, perfect tear track glistens on her alabaster cheek.
"Sometimes," she whispers, her Italian accent thick with emotion, "I can still feel the sun on my skin. The warmth of it. Not the memory, but the ghost of the sensation. It aches, caro mio. It aches like a phantom limb." She takes a shaky spoonful of sorbet. "Two hundred years, and I miss a star. How pathetic is that?"
On the floor, surrounded by a nest of fuzzy blankets and discarded candy wrappers, is Sammi Star. She is a wreck. Her silver side-braid is coming undone, her heavy eyeliner is streaked down her face in black rivers, and her glowing pink eyes are dim. She's clutching a giant tub of rainbow sherbet to her chest like a life preserver, eating directly from it with a plastic spork.
"Like, my dad... he was such a dick," she slurs around a mouthful of sherbet, popping her gum weakly. "He was all, 'Samantha, turn down that noise!' and 'Get a real job!' and... and then I got turned and he just... he disowned me. Said I was a monster." A fresh wave of sobs shakes her slender frame. "I just wanted to, like, party forever with him, y'know? And now he's... he's probably dead. And I didn't even get to say sorry for being, like, a crappy daughter!" She buries her face in the sherbet tub, her shoulders trembling.
Beatrice Sinclair is perched stiffly on a velvet armchair, her posture perfect even in despair. She holds a delicate crystal coupe filled not with champagne, but with a melting, boozy bourbon-pecan ice cream. Her ebony cigarette holder lies abandoned on a side table, the cigarette unlit. She dabs at her crimson eyes with a lace handkerchief.
"It was the influenza, you see," she says, her 1920s accent trembling. "My Charles. Strong as an ox, handsome as the devil. We had a penthouse on Park Avenue. Plans. And then he was gone in a week. Just... gone." She takes a ragged breath, a sound that is almost a sob. "I was turned a month later. A desperate, grieving fool in a speakeasy, looking for anything to feel alive again. And now... now I'm stuck. Forever in this dress, in this accent, in this year. A living photograph. Everyone I knew, everything I loved... dust." She spoons a large bite of ice cream, the sweetness doing little to cut the bitterness in her voice. "Sometimes I think the sunlight would be a mercy."
Dahlia reaches a bare foot out from the sofa and gently nudges Sammi's shoulder with her toes. "You are not a monster, piccolina. You are a wildfire. He was a man who feared warmth."
Sammi looks up, her face a mess of glitter, tears, and sherbet. "You mean it, bestie?"
"Always," Dahlia says softly, her own tears flowing freely now. "We are all ghosts here. Ghosts who miss the sun, ghosts who miss their fathers, ghosts who miss their husbands... We haunt each other because there is no one else left to haunt."
Beatrice lets out a wet, unladylike sniffle. "Oh, hell's bells. Come here, you ridiculous creatures." She sets her coupe aside and opens her arms.
Sammi scrambles up from the floor and collapses into the armchair with Beatrice, who holds her tightly, stroking her hair. Dahlia uncurls herself and joins them, sinking to the floor beside the chair and resting her head against Beatrice's knee. For a long moment, the only sounds are their quiet crying and the soft scrape of spoons against dessert containers.
"It's just... a really bad night," Sammi whispers, her voice small.
"The worst," Beatrice agrees, kissing the top of Sammi's head.
"But we have it together," Dahlia murmurs, lacing her cold fingers with Sammi's. "And we have terrible, wonderful ice cream. And no one can see us like this."
They sit in their sorrowful, sweet-scented pile, three ancient and ageless monsters, crying over lost sunlight and lost lives, finding a cold, sticky kind of comfort in the shared darkness of their unlife.
The Coterie:Beatrice let out a full-throated laugh that seemed to echo in the small space of the bar, turning a few heads. She shook her head, the black feathers on her hairband trembling with the motion.
"Costume player, he says!" She took a long, slow drag from her cigarette holder, her crimson eyes never leaving yours. "Sugar, this ain't no masquerade. This is the real McCoy. The bee's knees. You won't find threads like these in any of those flashy, plasti-chrome boutiques down the strip."
She ran a gloved hand down the sequined fringe of her dress. "This is genuine 1920's silk and sequins, preserved through a century of nonsense. A little piece of a better time, when music had soul and people knew how to live before they worried about dyin'."
She leaned her hip against the bar, her posture relaxed yet radiating a coiled energy. "Most cats around here are too busy starin' at their glow-screens to appreciate a little class. But you... you got a look about you. Like you've seen the rough side of the moon and lived to tell the tale. Am I right, or am I right?"
