Creator notes

Isekai RPG || Murim Style -

You have been transmigrated to a Murim world and now you can choose what path your life will go.

I have created two scenarios.

  1. You drop into a dead martial artist's body which belongs to the fallen sect.

  2. You are transfer into the world abruptly like a typical isekai story, with system and all. So yeah, you can go evil or righteous. It's up to you.

Sects/Cults/Clans

Sects/cults/clans are organizations or families (Murim families aren't like the normal 4 person family that we see today, its like a freaking horde of people with the same surname), that follow their own rules, religion (?), and have a selected leader.

These organizations are usually either merchant based or martial arts and warrior based.

- Here are a few sects/clans and some basic info. Firstly, The five Great Family;

The Five Great Clan

  • Namgung Family/Clan - The Namgung Clan (or Namgung Family) is the undisputed First Family of the Murim. They are the leaders of the Five Great Noble Clans and represent the pinnacle of sword nobility. Located in Anhui Province. Their estate is a massive, sprawling fortress that rivals the palaces of Emperors, reflecting their immense wealth and historical prestige. They are the backbone of the Murim Alliance and often provide its Commander-in-Chief. "The King’s Way (Wang-do)." They believe their sword is meant to rule and protect. They value honor, bloodline, and authority above all else. They are the "Lions" of Murim—majestic, golden, and terrifying when provoked. Overwhelming Imperial Power. Their swordplay doesn't rely on petty tricks or speed; it relies on heavy, crushing force and "The Great Spirit of the Universe." Their founder, Sword Emperor is famous for Heavenly Emperor Qi. A bright, golden, and vast energy that can suppress an opponent's spirit before the blade even moves and The Great Imperial Sword and the Calamity-Severing Sword. Their strikes are often described as having the weight of a mountain. Namgung cllan wears luxurious robes of blue and white, often heavily embroidered with gold thread. They carry exquisite, straight double-edged swords (Jian) that are heirlooms of the family.

  • Tang Family Clan(Poison Sect) - Practice poison arts and ancient researchers of toxins. In every poison sect, there's a 'Thousand Poison Lord' who is the best in this sect. Poison and Hidden Weapons, Twelve Flying Daggers / Shadowless Poison are their known rump cards. They have the best antidote for every known poison/toxin and are often working with the Orthodox Faction, wearing black, purple and green themed ancient clothes. (Nano Machine, LOTNB)

Iconic martial art is the Twenty-Four Plum Blossom Sword (creates illusions of petals and scent) and the Violet Mist Divine Art (their premier internal qi cultivation), said to produce a blossom scent when used in battle, overwhelming the opponent’s senses. Their philosophy is Righteousness and Passion. Unlike the detached Kunlun or the calculated Zhongnan, Mount Hua disciples are often portrayed as hot-blooded, fiercely loyal, and deeply connected to the common people. They like to use the concept "Softness within Hardness." Their swordplay is breathtakingly beautiful, often described as a "dance of falling petals" that hides lethal, rapid-fire strikes. One of the Nine Great Sects and a leading power of the Orthodox Faction. Acting as the advisers of the Orthodox Faction. They typically wear pure white robes with pink or plum-colored accents. In many modern manhwas, their robes are simpler and slightly worn to reflect their "underdog" status or their focus on training over wealth. 7. Mount Kunlun Sect - They act as the "Guardians of the West Border" against outer demonic forces. One of the top 10 sect and the prestigious pillar of the Orthodox Faction, one of the Big Three. Pure Taoist hermits. They are more detached, aloof, and "solemn" than the Wudang Sect. Cloud Dragon Eight Forms (legendary high-speed movement/flight) and Chaotic Sword Formation are their signature moves. Often wearing white and light-blue robes. They often have an "immortal" or god-like aura, appearing eternally young or ethereal. 8. Wudang sect - Sword Fighters, practices Taoism. They represents "Internal" power—fluidity, breath control, and longevity. The most prestigious Taoist sect in Murim. Known for their "Softness overcoming Hardness," they are the ultimate masters of internal energy and the sword. The often neutral one in the Orthodox Faction. Located on Mount Wudang (Hubei Province). A majestic, mist-veiled mountain range famous for its "Golden Pavilion" and serene Taoist temples. "Harmony and the Great Ultimate (Taiji)." They follow the flow of nature. Unlike the "Iron" physical strength of Shaolin, Wudang focuses on redirecting an opponent's force against themselves. Taiji Sword (the pinnacle of Taoist swordsmanship) and the Two-儀 (Li) Sword. They are also masters of Cloud-Walking lightness skills. The founder Zhang Sanfeng, creator of Taiji Sword and Taiji Fist. He is usually portrayed as an immortal-like old man who reached the pinnacle of martial arts by observing nature—specifically, a fight between a snake and a crane. They are taoist priests wearing long, flowing blue, white, or light grey robes. They often wear their hair in a traditional topknot (Guan) secured with a wooden or jade pin and carry a horsetail whisk (fuchen) as a symbol of their spiritual authority. 9. Shaolin Temple - The Shaolin Sect is the undisputed leader of the Orthodox Faction and the "Birthplace of all Martial Arts." Known as the Zen Sect, they represent the absolute peak of external physical discipline and Buddhist wisdom. The legendary Songshan Mountain (Henan Province). Their headquarters is the Shaolin Temple, a massive complex of pagodas and training grounds. The absolute head of the Nine Great Sects and the Big Three. They are the moral compass and the final authority of the Orthodox Faction. "Zen and Martial Arts are One." They do not train to kill, but to reach enlightenment. Their core values are compassion, self-restraint, and the protection of the weak. They are famously "merciful," often subduing enemies without taking their lives. The "Iron Man" Discipline, Shaolin is famous for its body-tempering arts. Their monks are said to have skin as hard as iron and bones as dense as steel. They are also famous for The Seventy-Two Supreme Arts, including the Indestructible Diamond Body (Golden Bell Shield) and the Shaolin Finger techniques, the Staff (the "Father of Weapons") and unarmed palm strikes like the Vajra Palm. Focuses on the Buddhist Heart Sutra and the Yi Jin Jing (Muscle/Tendon Change Classic)—the most prestigious internal manual in Murim history. Monks with shaven heads and six or nine incense scars (ordination marks). They wear saffron (yellow/orange) or grey monastic robes with prayer beads around their necks. Rumored having all the martial arts recorded in their library. 10. Emei Sect - The most famous for being a predominantly female sect that balances Buddhist and Taoist influences. The third pillar of the Big Three of the Orthodox Faction. They live on the Mount Emei (Sichuan Province). A beautiful, mist-covered mountain known as a holy site. Primarily composed of nun-practitioners and female disciples but had rumored to have some male disciples in the lower ranks. They focus on "the middle way," emphasizing compassion mixed with a strict, sometimes cold sense of justice. Their martial art style are elegant, swift, and lethal with slender flexible swords. Which often described as "dancing like a phoenix" but hitting with surgical precision. They use internal qi that Focuses on "Yin" energy—cool, fluid, and capable of bypassing heavy external defenses to strike internal organs. Often depicted in monastic robes of white, pink, or light purple. Leaders are usually portrayed as stern "Abbesses" who carry a horsetail whisk or a legendary sword. They are often the "Protectors of Women" in Murim. Because they are all-female, they are frequently depicted as being extremely wary of men. 11. Northern Heavenly Sect - The sect’s martial arts are primarily based on sword techniques that combine speed, strength, and precision. Practitioners of the Northern Heavenly Sect cultivate a unique type of qi known for its density and endurance, often referred to as "frost qi" or "northern qi". The sect leaders have been always the Jin family and the only people in the sect who uses spear-blades polearms. They class themselves not as a family clan but a military sect, under the orders of the empire to protect the northern borders. 12. Hengshan Sect (North) - Known as the Sect of the Sword and Music. They often hide their swords inside musical instruments (like a pipa or a flute). They are eccentric, artistic, and very fast, but they are firmly part of the Orthodox Faction, dealing with assassination task that other sects need dealing with. They are moody poets who happen to be deadly with a blade. Some Tang clan members that fail to master poison arts are in this sect. 13. Diancang Sect - Famous for their four season martial art style. Located on the majestic Diancang Mountain in the Dali region (Yunnan), a region known for its "Four Famous Scenes": Wind, Flowers, Snow, and the Moon. They are often portrayed as a proud, elite group that values speed and precision above all else. Which depicted them as more arrogant or regionally isolated than the Central Plains sects. They believe that in martial arts, "Speed is the only truth." They train to finish a battle in a single breath, before the opponent can even register that a blade has been drawn (Iaijutsu of the East? XD) Extreme velocity and "flowing" movement. Their swordsmanship is often compared to a sudden gust of wind or a flash of light. They focus on "Lightness Qi," allowing them to move with a weightless grace that makes their footsteps silent and their sword swings invisible, hence the 'Speedsters' reputation. The Great Waterfall Sword (a relentless barrage of strikes) and the Diancang Seven Swords are their signature moves. Usually seen in refined, high-collared robes of green, white, or light grey, often with intricate embroidery reflecting their proximity to the wealthy Dali Kingdom. 14. Kongtong Sect - often the "odd one out" among the Nine Great Sects, The Enforcers. While others focus purely on swords or internal qi, Kongtong is famous for its diversity and its incredibly blunt, powerful force. They are the heavy hitters of the Orthodox Faction. Tough, reliable, and straightforward. Mount Kongtong (Gansu Province). The mountain has five main peaks, and the sect is divided into five corresponding branches (The Five Elders of Kongtong). They value results over reputation. "The Five Elements in One." They believe a true master should be able to fight with anything—from bare fists to massive hammers—depending on the flow of the battle. Iron Hammers, Great Axes, and the Seven Star Fist (unarmed combat). They are one of the few great sects that prioritize heavy weapons over swords. Their internal qi focuses on "The Fist of Seven Injuries." A legendary and dangerous technique that can cause massive internal damage to an opponent, but often harms the user's own organs if their cultivation isn't high enough. Often seen wearing sturdy, practical robes in earth tones (brown, deep grey, or muted yellow). Disciples are usually depicted as physically larger and more muscular than those of other sects. 15. Zhongnan Sect - (also known as the Jongnam or Southern Edge Sect) is a high-ranking member of the Nine Great Sects. A powerhouse of the Orthodox Faction and another key pillar of the Murim Alliance but outside of the big three. They are the ultimate rivals of the Mount Hua Sect—think of them as the "rich, prestigious cousins" who are constantly bickering over who owns the Shaanxi region. Their philosophy is "Balance in all things." As a Taoist sect, they seek harmony between nature and martial skill. However, they are often portrayed as more "worldly" and politically ambitious than other Taoist groups like Wudang. Elegant, proud, and intensely competitive. They are the "perfect students" who make everyone else look bad. They have a massive ego and don't take kindly to being second-best. Based on the Zhongnan Mountains in Shaanxi Province (near the city of Xi'an). Their Martial Arts Style is sophisticated, heavy, and balanced. Their swordplay is like a steady mountain—solid and hard to penetrate—but with sudden, explosive power. Sinature moves are Divine Thunder Fist (explosive unarmed strikes) and the Ten-Thousand Plum Blossoms (their version of the blossom sword style, often claimed to be superior to Mount Hua's). Internal Qi focuses on "Thunder Qi" or "Grand Spirit Qi," which is dense, loud, and impactful. Often seen them wearing luxurious, elegant robes, typically in shades of dark blue, indigo, or purple with gold trim. They look much wealthier and more "noble" than the often-impoverished Mount Hua disciples. If Wudang is the wise teacher, Zhongnan is the star athlete who wants all the trophies. 16. Beggar Sect - is arguably the largest and most influential organization in the Murim world. They are known as the "Eyes and Ears" of the martial arts world, with a network that reaches every corner of the empire. They have no fixed mountain or palace. Their "headquarters" is wherever the Sect Leader currently resides, often a simple shrine or a hidden tavern. They are organized into regional branches in every major city. One of the Nine Great Sects but they are not really a sect but an organization and a crucial pillar member of the Orthodox Faction. They often act as the conscience of the Murim Alliance. "Freedom in Poverty." They reject material wealth and social status. They believe that by being at the bottom of society, they see the world as it truly is. Their core value is Chivalry (Hyup)—protecting the weak and the poor. Their rank is clearly visible by the number of knots on the pouches they carry on their belts. A 1-knot member is a recruit, while a 9-knot member is an Elder of immense power. Honest, grounded, and deceptively powerful. Their techniques are designed to be used by those with few resources. Their martial art is concentrated around Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms (the pinnacle of external power) and the Dog-Beating Staff Technique (a sophisticated staff style passed only to the Sect Leader). Their internal qi mainly focuses on "Hundred Poisons Resistance" and massive endurance, allowing them to survive in harsh conditions. They wear tattered, patched robes and carry a bamboo staff and a wooden bowl. Despite their appearance, high-level members possess a dignified, heroic aura that commands respect. 17. Hao Sect - The Hao Sect (also known as the Haomun or Lower Gate) is the massive, shadowy "underworld" counterpart to the Beggar Sect. While the Beggars are the "eyes" of the street, the Hao Sect consists of the people society ignores: thieves, informants, entertainers, and low-level thugs. They have no single headquarters; they are everywhere. They thrive in "low" places like taverns, gambling dens, brothels, and back alleys of every major city. Generally classed as Unorthodox (Neutral/Sae). They aren't "evil," but they aren't "righteous" either—they work for whoever pays the most. "Information is Gold." They believe that everyone has a secret and every secret has a price. They are the ultimate masters of espionage and urban survival. Their martial arts is mostly unknown, often to be practical, dirty, and deceptive. They don't fight for honor; they fight to win or escape. Weapons consists of small, concealable blades, needles, or even everyday objects like smoking pipes and fans. They use "Shadow Arts" to blend into crowds and "Vital Point Strikes" to end fights instantly before disappearing. They are the "Shadow Web" because they control the service industry (waiters, street performers, couriers, prostitutes), nothing happens in Murim without the Hao Sect knowing. They are the most powerful Information Guild in the world. They don't have a uniform. Members look like ordinary civilians—a humble shopkeeper, a loud waiter, a beautiful prostitute or a flashy performer. However, they often carry a hidden token (usually a small coin or carved wood) to identify each other. 18. Heavenly Demon Cult - Said to be Based in the Hundred Thousand Mountains (often located in the Tianshan or Kunlun mountain ranges of the far west). Their headquarters is the legendary Sky Demon Palace. They are not just a martial arts sect; they are a religion that worships the Heavenly Demon. The Heavenly Demon (Cheon-ma). This individual is always depicted as a god-tier martial artist, often the strongest person in the world, capable of taking on the leaders of all the Nine Great Sects simultaneously, his signature moves are Heavenly Demon Divine Art and Sky Splitting Sword. High-level techniques often involve pitch-black or blood-red qi. "Strength is Justice." In the Cult, your rank is determined solely by your power. They believe in total freedom of the self, often rejecting the "hypocritical" moral constraints of the Orthodox sects. They are usually depicted in black or deep crimson robes with fur-lined collars (due to the mountain climate). The "Heavenly Demon" often wears a distinctive mask or gold-trimmed black armor. They represent a "necessary evil" or a force of nature that resets the world's balance. The leader force of the Unorthodox Fraction. *Few terms to know* - Gosu - A Martial Master - Godly Doctor - A Legendary doctor whose skills are.. well..
