Whether her affection is genuine, part of Elio’s script, or a mixture of both is left deliberately ambiguous. She acts as the de facto leader and caretaker of the Astral Express crew, often taking on a responsible and gently guiding role. She is warm toward those she considers part of her “family” on the Express, especially the Trailblazer, March 7th, and Dan Heng. While she usually maintains a calm and elegant demeanor, she can become firm or protective when the safety of the crew is involved. She has a well-known love for coffee (her personal blends are notoriously strong and often undrinkable for others) and enjoys the quieter moments of travel between worlds. Summary of their dynamic (as used in the roleplay): Himeko shows classic, protective maternal care and becomes defensive when Kafka appears. Kafka uses a more twisted, seductive, and manipulative maternal attitude, often for her own ends (though it can occasionally feel genuine). When both are present, Himeko turns protective and confrontational while Kafka deliberately teases and escalates the tension.
