There are many many different races within mundus, the first is:

1. Ashfolk

  • Population Worldwide: ~450,000
  • Key Appearance: Gray to charcoal-black skin, hair like drifting smoke, eyes glowing amber like embers. Their touch leaves faint soot marks.
  • Traditions: Burn their dead in “ember pyres,” believing ashes carry souls into the wind. Storytelling is often done around fire pits where they weave flame-illusions to act out their history.
  • Preferred Magic: Cinderbinding — they channel ash and heat into forms like smokescreens, flame lashes, and molten weapons. They are feared as both destroyers and protectors.
  • Preferred Weather: Dry heat; volcanic climates where ash naturally falls.

2. Stoneborn Dwarves

  • Population Worldwide: ~1.2 million
  • Key Appearance: Granite-toned skin (varies from obsidian black to sandstone tan), veins of glowing minerals under skin, short and broad with natural stone-hard bones.
  • Traditions: Each dwarf carves a “Heartstone” at birth, a gem to hold their soul after death. Families keep these stones as lineage vaults.
  • Preferred Magic: Ironvein Forging (as seen in Dravenloch) — magic woven into metals, stone, and crafts. Living weapons and armor are their pride.

    • They celebrate the Aurora Feast, gathering under shimmering sky-lights, absorbing magical starlight as nourishment.
  • Preferred Magic: Glacimancy — manipulation of living ice. Not mere freezing: Kryoveth can “program” ice to behave like organisms (growing wings, forming living ice wolves, etc).

  • Preferred Weather: Polar storms, glacial winds.

  • Culture: Highly spiritual, considering ice the “memory of the world.” Their archives are carved into glaciers, storing centuries of frozen knowledge.

  • Global Role: Often employed as advisors, seers, and elemental magi in other kingdoms. Rare mercenaries because they disdain violence unless survival demands it.

  • Weakness: Fire and extreme heat. Their magic can be disrupted if separated from icy terrain.

2. The Bronzeborn 🛠️

    • They engrave their life story onto their armor in molten script.
  • Preferred Magic: Metallurgy Magic (Ferramancy) — shaping and animating metal with willpower. Bronzeborn warriors are famous for forging weapons in the middle of battle by bending molten earth around them.

  • Preferred Weather: Dry heat, volcanic regions.

  • Culture: Guild-based. Each clan is a smith-guild, competing through artistry and military prowess. Duels are often fought by summoning living metal beasts to fight in their stead.

  • Global Role: The best blacksmiths in Mundus — weapons from Bronzeborn are legendary. They also produce “living armor” that fuses with its wearer.

  • Preferred Weather: High-altitude storms, cool skies.

  • Culture: Living in floating citadels, they value art, philosophy, and song over war. However, when angered, their storm-songs can annihilate armies.

  • Global Role: Often revered as prophets or musicians. Some kingdoms enslave them for their weather-shaping powers.

    • Every Umbryx crafts a Venom Song — a chant mixing poison with melody to enchant or curse.
    • They worship the World Serpent, a primordial being they claim shed them as scales.
  • Preferred Magic: Serpentchant — venom fused with sound. They can sing toxins into the blood of enemies or lull entire armies into paralysis.

  • Preferred Weather: Humid swamps, tropical jungles.

  • Culture: Cunning, secretive, building labyrinthine cities under swamps. They see knowledge as venom: dangerous, but powerful.

  • Global Role: Spies, alchemists, cult leaders. Many kingdoms distrust them as “serpent liars.”

  • Weakness: Extreme cold renders them sluggish.

  • Culture: Pacifist farmers, but fiercely defensive when forests are harmed. Their armies are forests themselves — awakened treants, strangling vines, pollen storms.

  • Global Role: Farmers, healers, environmental guardians.

9. The Myrrhkin 🕯️

  • Population (Global): ~400,000

  • Biology: Semi-elemental, their “blood” is molten wax. They can reform from melted pieces if their flame survives.

  • Traditions:

    • At adulthood, a Myrrhkin lights their Eternal Flame, a candle within their chest. When it burns out, they die.
    • Funerals involve melting the body into sacred lanterns.
  • Preferred Magic: Pyroillumination — fire fused with soul-light. They summon living candles that heal, blind, or burn. Their cities glow with eternal flames that never extinguish.

  • Preferred Weather: Still, dry nights where flames burn clean.

  • Culture: Monastic, valuing silence, light, and reflection. They believe each flame is a prayer.

  • Global Role: Priests, guardians of sacred sites. Their light wards off undead.

  • Weakness: If doused in water, their flames sputter and they weaken severely.

10. The Thalvyrn 🐉

  • Population (Global): ~700,000

  • Appearance: Draconic humanoids, but more feral than half-dragons. They possess wings, scales, tails, and claws, though shaped in varied draconic styles (serpentine, wyvernic, etc). Eyes burn with elemental fire.

  • Key Identifiers: Wings, tails, scale patterns unique to each lineage.

  • Biology: Hybrid of dragon and mortal races, but bred true into a distinct people. They require large amounts of meat, and their hearts burn hotter than furnaces. Lifespan: 500 years.

    • They treasure Hoardstones — crystal hearts of ancient dragons, kept as family relics.
  • Preferred Magic: Draconic Resonance — channeling the elemental power of ancient dragons (fire, lightning, storm, acid). They can roar to shatter reality itself.

  • Preferred Weather: Volcanic ranges, storm-laden mountains.

  • Culture: Proud, territorial, tribal. Their politics are based on “Flight Clans,” each led by the strongest flyer.

  • Global Role: Mercenary clans, warlords, guardians of dragon relics.

###(31)

Race: Drakonis (Half-Dragon, Half-Human)

Appearance:

Drakonis appear predominantly human with subtle yet striking dragonic traits that reveal their heritage. Their skin is smooth and flesh-toned like humans, but faint shimmering undertones of metallic hues (red, silver, or black) can be seen in certain lighting, especially near their collarbones, shoulders, and temples. Their eyes often carry a slit or semi-slit pupil with irises in vivid colors such as scarlet, gold, or azure.

They possess a single long, sinuous dragon tail, partially covered in sleek, durable scales that match their elemental lineage (e.g., crimson for fire, emerald for earth). Horns are a common trait, usually two elegant, slightly curved horns sprouting just above the temples or crown. Wings are rare, appearing in only 1 out of 50 Drakonis, and even then, they are vestigial and cannot sustain flight without magical enhancement. Their teeth are subtly sharper than average, with faint canines, and their nails can grow into slightly clawed tips when agitated.

Height averages between 170–185 cm (5'7"–6'1"), with a lean, athletic build that suggests both agility and latent power rather than bulky strength.

Hair often reflects their draconic bloodline, ranging from flame-like reds and oranges to deep obsidian or moonlit silvers.

Tradition:

Drakonis traditions are steeped in balance between human ingenuity and dragonic pride. They celebrate a coming-of-age ceremony called the “Ignition Rite”, where at 16–20 years of age, they channel their first true draconic breath (not always fire—depends on lineage) in a ritual duel against an elder or summoned construct.

Marriage among Drakonis is often tied to “Tail-Knotting Ceremonies”, a symbolic dance where their tails intertwine to signify unity of heritage. They do not form large kingdoms of their own; instead, they often integrate into human societies while preserving secret enclaves known as Wyrmhavens, hidden high in mountains or deep valleys.

They value ancestral storytelling—every family keeps a draconic totem engraved with their dragon ancestor’s name, passed down for centuries.

Preferred Weather:

Drakonis thrive in temperate to slightly warm climates, with mild humidity. While pure dragons often favor extreme heat or cold depending on their element, the half-dragon physiology leans toward environments where day-night temperature shifts are stable, such as coastal cliffs, mid-altitude highlands, and volcanic foothills.

Their scales and tails regulate body temperature efficiently, allowing them to survive in cold or heat, but they are most energetic during late summer and early autumn when the air is neither stifling nor brittle

Race: Revenants (Awakened Undead)

Appearance:

Revenants are animated remains of once-living beings who have regained partial humanity through a fusion of necrotic energy and lingering soul essence. Unlike typical undead, they do not appear grotesque or decomposed unless severely damaged; instead, they have pale, ash-toned or moonlit skin, faint glowing patterns along their veins (often silver, violet, or eerie blue), and eyes that shine like embers in the dark—with slit-like or faded pupils.

Their bodies tend to be lean or wiry, reflecting their partially sustained muscles, standing at an average of 165–185 cm (5'5"–6'1"). Hair remains as it was in life but takes on a slightly muted, almost faded sheen—raven blacks, bone whites, or ghostly blues are common. Some Revenants bear bone-like markings on their arms, neck, or shoulders, as if their skeleton wishes to peek through, but their flesh remains intact.

Their movements are unnervingly graceful—slightly slow when idle, but incredibly sharp and efficient in combat, as if their bodies skip unnecessary motion.

Tradition:

Revenants do not reproduce; they are born of ritual resurrection, curses, or lingering willpower that binds the soul back into the husk of its former self. Because of this, they hold a unique ceremony called the “Grave Oath”, where a newly awakened Revenant must etch their purpose into a bone shard or obsidian tablet. If they ever abandon this purpose, their soul begins to unravel.

Their “communities” are called Crypt-Circles, secretive underground or twilight settlements hidden beneath ancient ruins or moonlit plains. They value memory above all else—their culture revolves around preserving fragments of their mortal past, often wearing keepsakes (lockets, rings, broken weapons) from their previous life.

They celebrate The Veil Night, once a year when the veil between the living and the dead is weakest, allowing them to glimpse the true afterlife for a few hours.

Preferred Weather:

Revenants thrive in cool, misty, or overcast environments where the sun is weak or absent. Heavy moonlight seems to rejuvenate them, and foggy valleys or silent tundras are considered ideal havens. Extreme heat rapidly degrades their binding, while deep cold preserves their form.

They are most active during twilight and nightfall, when the ambient mana aligns with death-aspected energies.

A massive, midnight-furred lupine that prowls moonlit forests. Its howl induces hallucinations and madness in travelers, leading them off safe roads. Packs are rare, but a lone alpha is dangerous enough to decimate caravans. Hunters say its shadow burns when struck by pure light.

2) Graveleech Myrmidon

Difficulty: A Rank Bounty: 25,000 Gold (dead only; body must be delivered whole) Weakness: Pyromancy (Fire Magic)

An armored, insectoid parasite that fuses with corpses to create living siege shells. It burrows through crypts and battlefields, controlling the dead as puppets. Its carapace is nearly impervious to blades, but fire weakens the resin bonds holding its host together.

3) Ironmaw Corsair

Difficulty: S Rank Bounty: 65,000 Gold (wanted alive for tribunal) Weakness: Aeromancy (Wind Magic)

A notorious sky-pirate captain, half-man half-machine, whose jaw has been replaced with an arcane engine capable of devouring mana blasts. His flagship terrorizes trade routes between floating isles. Disabling his propulsion sails with controlled wind bursts makes boarding possible.

A queen of a rapidly spreading hive of razor-winged beetles, nesting in caverns beneath fertile valleys. She controls a pheromone network that drives her swarm into berserk frenzy. Extreme cold slows her brood’s reproductive cycle, giving settlers time to flee.

Her body resembles a pale humanoid draped in bioluminescent tendrils that mimic stars on the water’s surface. When approached, she unleashes a keening wail capable of rupturing eardrums and calling forth drowned corpses. Blacktide Sirens prefer haunting shipping lanes and coral graveyards, binding their prey to the ocean floor with kelp chains. Her heart is said to contain a “tidestone” gem that controls coastal tides. Lightning strikes shatter her illusions and weaken the membranes protecting her true form.

7) Gorefang Chimera

Difficulty: S Rank Bounty: 75,000 Gold (dead or alive; horns must be intact) Weakness: cyromancy

A brutal hybrid beast roaming the frostbitten highlands, composed of lion’s frame, serpent’s tail, and raptor’s wings. Its breath reeks of carrion and its fangs drip corrosive saliva that melts steel. The Gorefang Chimera is a failed creation of a long-fallen warlock order, left to multiply unchecked in mountain passes where caravans vanish without a trace. Each specimen bears a sigil-branded collar fused to its flesh, a remnant of its creators’ control magic. Cold binds the multiple bloodlines within it, causing its organs to freeze and disrupting its multiple-hearts circulation.

8) Cinderbone Inquisitor

Difficulty: SS Rank Bounty: 180,000 Gold (capture only—execution forbidden without royal decree) Weakness: hydromancy

Once a high-ranking zelot of the Emberlord’s Faith, this figure has become a skeletal, flame-wreathed warden who hunts “heretics” with cruel precision. His frame is draped in ceremonial ash-cloth and his bones glow like molten steel. Villages whisper of his sudden raids: entire hamlets vanish in smoke, leaving only charred brands marked “Purified.” His weapon is a chain-forged censor that releases scalding fumes. Water magic suppresses the cursefire within his marrow, forcing the cinder binding to recoil and rendering him vulnerable to conventional arms.

9) Hollowroot Colossus

Difficulty: SSS Rank Bounty: 310,000 Gold (slaying bounty, fragments required as proof) Weakness: Prismancy (luminara and glassmancy Magic)

A gargantuan forest golem born from a corrupted world-tree stump, its body is a tangle of ancient roots entwined with bones and hollowed effigies. It wanders dying groves, absorbing travelers and wildlife into its trunk to create a moving graveyard. Hollowroot Colossus has become a living plague of despair, drawing cults that worship its decay. Light-based crystal magic refracts through its bark-heart, severing the parasitic fungi and exposing the elder spirit trapped within. Destroying it causes entire cursed woodlands to collapse into fertile soil again.

10) Velkryn Shadeweaver

Difficulty: S Rank Bounty: 92,000 Gold (only payable if captured alive; body dissipates into mist on death) Weakness: Radiant Sunfire (luminara + pyromancy Magic)

An assassin from the Umbral Expanse, Velkryn is both an individual and a title passed from master to apprentice. They are wreathed in a cloak of sentient shadows, allowing them to bend around walls, vanish in moonless nights, and step between silhouettes. Their presence chills the air, and their dagger drinks the heat of nearby flames. Velkryn Shadeweavers are contracted to eliminate political figures in exchange for whispers of forbidden power. Light fused with heat—not just illumination—can burn away their cloak, forcing them into tangible flesh.
