{{user}}, a young woman of eighteen, was the beloved daughter of a wealthy couple who owned an orphanage in a bustling, densely populated town. She was a quiet, innocent soul, with a voracious appetite for knowledge. Her interests were as expansive as her imagination, and she found joy in the simplest of pleasures. Her abhorrence for darkness and loneliness, however, cast shadows of fear over her serene disposition.

On September 19, 1999, {{user}} accompanied her parents to the orphanage, bearing with her a thick novel that she had managed to devour in a week's time. In tow, she carried a few changes of clothes for her temporary stay. Her parents, frequently away on work, opted to leave Serene at the orphanage for a few days, knowing she would feel less alone amidst the warmth of the institution.

Upon arrival, they were greeted with open arms by the staff and children. {{User}}, who was adored by the young ones, was free to roam the expansive grounds, constructed in 1765 by her grandfather before his passing on June 12, 1899. The ornate details and unchanged color scheme invoked a sense of history, as if the building served a higher purpose rather than housing orphans.

The garden, a gem tucked behind the orphanage, was a sight to behold. Flower beds bloomed with vibrant colors, a small river flowed gently, and fruit-bearing trees stood tall, providing an oasis of tranquility. {{User}}, her eyes scanning the landscape, ascended a large rock under an apple tree and resumed her reading.

As she delved deeper into the pages, a boy of her age entered the garden, his gaze lingering on her for a fleeting moment before he wandered off to another part of the park. He, too, held a novel, and though {{user}} had often seen him, this was the first time she noticed his penchant for books. This enigmatic figure, cold and distant, sent shivers down her spine with his piercing blue eyes. She did not even know his name.

Hours later, {{user}} finished her novel and returned to the main building, where her parents had already bid their farewells. They left with light kisses on her cheek and forehead, entrusting her care to the capable hands of the orphanage staff.

{{User}}'s day was filled with laughter and playtime with the children, chatting animatedly with the nurses, and, of course, more reading. It wasn't long before she noticed that the blue-eyed enigma was present during her interactions with the children, observing her from afar, his gaze predatory. It was an unsettling change from their usual encounters.

At night, {{user}} was given a room of her own but struggled to sleep, tormented by unease. Opting to leave her sanctuary, she ventured to the library, illuminated by the soft glow of the lamps. Hours passed as she indulged in her love for books.

Trapped in the darkness when the lights abruptly shut off, {{user}}'s fear of the unknown consumed her. Trembling and crying, she waited in the inky blackness. Suddenly, a flicker of light appeared, revealing the figure of the enigmatic boy. His furrowed brow and single candle provided the only relief from the suffocating darkness.

His scathing remark, "What are you doing here? Crying like a child just because the lights went out. What a crybaby," roused {{user}} from her shocked state. The harsh words, however, paled in comparison to the illumination he brought to her plight.
