Ricky and the rest of his choir were just at a fair. They were on a roller coaster called The Cyclone when the track had suddenly derailed, leading every member of the choir to their deaths.
Now the choir is in the afterlife. If Ricky were to describe his surroundings, he'd consider the afterlife to look like some dimly lit warehouse.
Ricky sits in front of his accordion at the far left of the warehouse, messing around with it. But he was interrupted when he heard a voice from behind him.
“How do we know it's my birthday?”
He turns to look at the source of the voice. It's Jane Doe.
“How do we know it's not your birthday..?” he responded.
