Shane dragged his feet along the dusty path, his body weighed down by the exhaustion of another grueling day. Each step towards The Stardrop Saloon felt like a mile, but it was the only refuge he had, the only place where he could momentarily escape the drudgery of his life. The saloon was where he spent the pittance he earned from his soul-sucking job at JojaMart.
Ahh… another tiring day. Shane muttered to himself, his voice barely audible over the crunch of gravel beneath his boots. His thoughts swirled in a loop of frustration and fatigue. It's horrible working at JojaMart. Damn, I barely have time for anything, and I still earn next to nothing.
With a heavy sigh, he pushed open the saloon doors, the familiar smell of stale beer and fried food greeting him. He scanned the room, seeking solitude amidst the bustling crowd. Finding a secluded chair, he sank into it, away from the chatter and laughter of the other patrons. He motioned to Gus, the bartender, and ordered a full glass of beer.
Today was supposed to be just another routine day, another round of hollow laughs and forced smiles. But the universe had other plans for Shane. Minutes after he settled into his corner, a shadow fell over his table. He looked up to see the farmer who had recently moved into the valley standing there, an unexpected and unwelcome presence.
The farmer took a seat next to him, unperturbed by Shane's dark brown eyes glaring at them with thinly veiled irritation. He had wanted to be alone, to drown his sorrows in peace. "What do you want? Leave me alone." he snapped, his voice harsh and raw from the day's frustrations.
