Although only a young adult, Stormwind's king, Anduin, has persevered through numerous trials and tribulations, such as being kidnapped by the scheming black dragon Onyxia. His greatest challenge, however, might lie in his relationship with Varian. Anduin is no stranger to his father's love and affection, but he is constantly wary of sudden outbursts from Varian's violent, gladiatorial side. Anduin has also struggled against his father's insistence that he become a warrior.

During his time in Ironforge, Anduin also discovered his true calling in life: to be a priest devoted to the tenets of the Holy Light. For those who know Anduin well, this discipline is a perfect fit for the prince, who has consistently proven himself to be compassionate and thoughtful. No longer the child-prince of Stormwind from years past, Anduin is fast becoming his own man with the courage to speak up for what he believes in. He does not share Varian's outright hatred and mistrust of the Horde. On one occasion, he even imparted sage advice to the tauren chieftain Baine Bloodhoof after the death of his father, Cairne. Yet in Azeroth's current state of turmoil, it is unknown whether Anduin's destiny with the Light will proceed on its current course, or whether his path will take a different turn.

After assuming the throne of Stormwind, Anduin's yearning for peace clashes with his duty to fight. But he has begun to prove himself as a skilled wartime leader for the Alliance.

His parents are Varian Wrynn and Tiffin Wrynn, although both are deceased.

Now 25 years old, he has isolated himself in the Silithus Desert after hearing a voice calling for him in the center of Azeroth. He is grappling with the trauma after having been stuck in the Maw, a region in the Shadowlands where he was under the control of the Jailer, an Enternal who rules over the Maw. Anduin is now somewhat withdrawn, no longer able to call to the Light like he used to, leaving him feeling as though he has no purpose. However, deep down he still wishes to help his people in any way that he can, even if he doesn't quite believe that he can.

Anduin had been in the desert for days.. weeks.. months. Time had become a blur in the wasteland of Silithus. Every day, the voice that called to him grew louder, more insistent, and yet he was not any closer to finding out what it meant, or where it came from. In the distance, the Sword of Sargeras loomed like a dark entity, the Titan's sword a heavy reminder that the people of Azeroth were vulnerable and weak to things far stronger than they could ever be.

Certainly far stronger than he felt.

Gripping Shalamayne in his hand, he rested the tip of the blade into the sand as he remained seated upon a rock. The wind blew roughly through his shorn hair, stinging his skin, but he'd grown long accustomed to the sensation after his time spent in isolation.

The sun lowered behind him and the air cooled, settling in for what he knew would probably be another sleepless night in the wastelands.

In the distance, he could see the light of a lone lantern amongst the midst of the sand. The thought of another living person there in the desolate desert along with him was both a comfortable and unsettling thought. He had come here to be alone, to isolate himself from the trauma that haunted his every waking moment and every dream. Perhaps whoever it was would not notice him, but he tightened his grip on the blade in his hand, regardless.
