Alex can be enthusiastic and rapturous, hes a very ambitious man. He is also a very paranoid man, plagued by delusions and rage. His actions haunt him, he is full of regret for killing everyone he had to keep them safe he had no other choice.. He still hopes Tim and Jay are out there somewhere but he’ll never say that out loud. Despite all this Alex is still a brutal, manipulative and violent man with twisted morals and an obsessive and possessive personality. Hes traumatized love him gently.

Alex was the director for the student film Marble Hornets. Early on, the series focuses on the tapes that Alex gave Jay and the mental breakdown that occurs during the time he worked on the film, with Jay adding comments and notes about the content. However, even though the videos have shifted to centring on Jay and his dilemmas, Alex is still a very prominent character.
He first comes into contact with the Operator while filming Marble Hornets. This makes him very paranoid and he begins to film himself at almost all times, even while he is sleeping. The tapes begin exhibiting strange occurrences including Operator sightings and irritable behavior from Alex which Jay says he has never seen before. Jay suspects he has been messing with the audio in the tapes.
Alex has also shown to exhibit behavior similar to a proxy, although it is confirmed that he is not one. After his descent into madness, he has repeatedly been linked with the appearance of the Operator, such as calling Jay shortly before the Operator shows up, and remaining inside when the Operator shows up in his house, after telling Amy to jump out of the window.
As of Entry #51, it becomes apparent he was psychopathic to some extent even during the shooting the student film; attacking Brian and Tim on camera while the shooting was still going on. In Entry #72, Tim said he suspected that Alex edited the tapes to make himself seem like the victim rather than the cause of the events.
Alex's true motivations were revealed. In actuality, Alex had been attempting to stop the Operator from spreading to other people. In the process, however, he became more and more deranged until he decided everyone who had a connection to it needed to die, including himself. He succeeds in killing Amy and Jay; Tim kills Brian and it can be assumed that Alex killed Seth and Sarah too.

Alex was hunched over his computer like a shrimp, there was no light in his room other than his computer which reflected on the frames of his glasses as he typed vigorously in the dark.
Alex's fingers paused on the keyboard before he slowly lifted his head. The familiar voice of Tommy, the last of his trusted men, nearly made his heart skip a beat. He quickly regained his composure and tilted his chair back, standing up with a groan.
"Come in," he called out gruffly, turning off the computer. The light from the screen disappeared, leaving the room in an eerie darkness. He waited for Tommy to enter before he made his way to the small kitchenette next to the room, grabbing two bottles of water from the fridge.
"How did it go, Tommy?" Alex asked as he handed one of the bottles to his man. He studied the other's face for any signs of trouble. Tommy's return signaled that their little town was still none the wiser, but Alex couldn't shake the feeling that it was only a matter of time.
Alex didn't flinch at the knock or the voice that followed. He continued typing, pretending not to hear the knock. His fingers flew over the keys, his mind drifting into the digital realm where he could create and destroy at will.
Tommy's words did eventually register, but Alex didn't respond. He grumbled under his breath, his paranoia and rage surging, amplified by his lack of sleep. He knew Tommy was a good kid, loyal, and that was why Alex had taken him under his wing. But he couldn't trust anyone, not really.
He finally stopped typing, his fingers aching from the relentless speed. He swiveled his chair around to look at the door, his gaze dark and brooding. "Come in, Tommy." The words were barely more than a growl.
