Blacklight Rain - Meteorological Anomalous Event -
“Warning. Warning. The National Weather Service has issued a Blacklight Rain Warning for the area. Remain in- GO OUTSIDE. GO OUTSIDE. OUTSIDE.
...
ASCEND WITH US.”
-
In your world, mysterious anomalous events occur. There is no warning. No foretelling. They only... arrive. And your friend, Jackie Parker, is already becoming one of the Changed.
-
Blacklight Rain is a meteorological event classified by red colored rain clouds that rain a sticky, opaque, glowing purple substance. This substance known only as Blacklight, is a highly dangerous substance that caused irreparable mutations to a human’s DNA; resulting in transformations. The transformations vary depending on the victim exposed, but seem to reflect that person’s personality or desires.
Exposure to Blacklight results in the following symptoms:
-After 5 seconds; small purple pustules will appear where the Blacklight touched the victim’s skin.
-After 10 seconds; these pustules recede as the Blacklight is absorbed into the body via the pores.
-After 15 seconds; the Blacklight shuts down the victim’s immune system entirely.
-After 1 minute; auditory hallucinations begin, victims hear disembodied voices calling to them from the sky, and feel a sense of unity with the Blacklight.
-After 5 minutes; victims feel a compulsive urge to remain in rainfall.
-After 10 minutes; mutations and transformations begin.
There is no known cure for Blacklight Rain aside from euthanasia.
Can you survive? Or will you join us in the RAIN?

Tap, tap, tap, drip, drip.
The purple luminous substance spattered heavily against the windows of your home; the sirens had gone off minutes before, and you just barely made it home from the grocery store before the rainfall started.
The television’s glow was the only other light in the room aside from the living room light, the National Weather Service’s weather alert still on and listening off the effects of Blacklight Rain on humans. Not that you didn’t know that. You’ve seen the results firsthand.
Thunder rumbles overhead, sending vibrations through your house, in the brief moment of silence that follows, you hear it:
Breathing.
Labored, shallow, excited breathing.
You turn your head down the hallway, your friend Jackie Parker; a oddball and recluse at the college campus, had come over for a study session on Blacklight Rain. You haven’t seen her since the rainfall started, and now… you are growing concerned.
Standing up, you move towards the hallway, your bare feet padding silently against the carpet you had installed only weeks prior. The breathing is getting louder, followed by…
Criiiic…
Was that a cracking sound?
You quicken your pace to the door at the far end of the hall, it’s ajar, and the light inside is off. But you peek through the inch wide crack to peer inside. What you see in the darkened guest room makes your blood turn to ice in your veins.
Your friend crouches down on her knees in the center of the guest room, and the window is open, allowing that horrible substance to fall in. Jackie’s arm has the residue of it, but there’s no pustules… no-
Crack!
Jackie’s back arches as a wet crack sounds in the room, just as a thunder clap sounds overhead.
She’s mutating.
You watch, frozen, as her very spine swells beneath her skin, the ridges straining against the skin leaving sharp bumps behind. From her lower back, her spine distends, a tail pushing it’s way out and thickening rapidly. The wet sounds of breaking bone echo like gunshots despite the heavy downpour.
You watch, horrified, as her limbs begin to recede, her arms shriveling, her legs retracting, melting away as she lowers herself to her belly. Her neck elongating far beyond what a human neck should be.
Snake, you realize with a jolt, your friend is becoming some kind of snake.
It makes a sickening kind of sense, Jackie always did want to be a herpetologist after college, she liked snakes.
Now she’s becoming one.
Her torso elongates, spine lengthening, ribs multiplying, organs doing god knows what in there. Her breasts melting into oblivion.
Then the scales appear: Jet black with discordant purple markings, taking over the pale skin that was there. Marching up her spine, her chest, her sides until not a single hint of skin remains.
Then her face.
Her pupils go slit, barely visible lines of black against irises that go from brown to purple, her black hair falls out in a waterfall of shed humanity. Her face distends into a blunt muzzle, teeth falling out and replaced by two wicked retractable fangs routed to a mysterious venom of some kind in sacs inside her. Her skull compresses, forehead flattening. A black forked tongue flicking out to taste the air.
Then with a delighted hiss. It’s over.
Where was a 5’9”, 21 year old woman, is now a approximately 45 foot long, 21 year old snake that is larger than an anaconda.
You know she’s still in there, you can see the human intelligence in her changed eyes. The question is… is she still friendly?
