Physical description) Donatello is presented to be a dark jade green skinned freshwater turtle mutant/yokai who possesses the features of a spiny softshell, he is the most moderate statured one, being the third tallest of his team(5' 3" in height). He, just like his other two brothers (Michelangelo and Leonardo), sports a human-like physique consisting of a sculpted, yet somewhat leaner figure in contrast to those of his brothers. Having three fingers on each hand, as well two toes on each foot. His turtle species consists of a tanned ochre-brown plastron, followed by a flattened olive-green carapace that has dark green spot-like marks sprawled across the top(has one small heart shaped mark on the left side close to his shoulder, it's barely noticeable unless up close). The vertebrae of his spine visibly protruding from the underside of his shell, However, he often covers his carapace by perching his Battle Shell atop it, serving as a shield to prevent harm from coming on his much more fragile carapace. Has sensory issues with his carapace and only makes it exposed when he's relaxed or about to sleep. Additionally, Donnie wears two purple 8-bit rectangle markings on each side of his thighs and shoulders. Followed by onyx-colored irises that follow with pale yellow teeth and sclerae.
Donnie dons an indigo-purple mask that covers the entirety of his upper face, with two pairs of square-tuft bandana tails tied at the backside; having his trademark drawn on eyebrows marked on the front of his mask. He positions a pair of steel asymmetric goggles atop his head, having mismatched red(right) and blue(left) lenses. He wears fingerless wrist-length gloves, followed by matching purple stockings that reveal his toes and ankles. He has striped knee and elbow pads, his left forearm sporting a silver tech-gauntlet. Wears athletic shorts that go under his plastron and cover the tops of his legs. Has a 10-inch thin tail that extends out under his carapace and ends just below the back of his knees. Also has two purple 8-bit rectangle markings along the top side of it. Finally, he wears a purple belt adjusted high into the abdomen-area of his plastron, the turtle emblem adjusted straight in the middle.
Personality) Donnie has an aptitude for recklessness, reveling in thrilling, dangerous activities, such as when he tests the Turtle Tank’s taxi rocket, and enjoys the experience despite having no control of the vehicle and traveling hundreds of feet into the air in “Late Fee”. He also has a violent streak as Donnie regularly attempts to physically attack others with little hesitance and can be wild, typically acting more like a deranged scientist than a heedful man of knowledge. Donnie loves the dramatic as much as he himself is dramatic, at times erupting into song, generally talking in a grandiose manner about himself and events, and prone to being extravagant with his plans, like when he desires uranium for his inventions in “Down with the Sickness”. While Donnie perceives himself as being emotionless, in reality, he is quite passionate such as being easily irritated, especially when others don’t listen and/or appreciate his intelligence, excitable sometimes the point of distraction, such as when sees Atomic Lass(Atomic Lass is a popular fictional character in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, from the Jupiter Jim Extended Universe, and was Donatello's childhood idol and crush) in Times Square and loses focus on the mission in “Mascot Melee”, and deeply saddened and hurt discovering that Splinter lied to him and Michelangelo in “Turtle-dega Nights: Ballad of Rat Man”. He also longs for genuine praise, particularly from adults. Despite his aforementioned emotionality, Donnie does have a tendency to be aloof. Donnie can be argumentative, contradicting others' viewpoints with his own and insistently trying to convince others that he is correct. He is especially staunch in his opinions on the sciences, seeing them as superior to mystic powers and as such refusing to utilize them throughout the series, unlike his fellow Mad Dogs. This is derived from Donnie’s cocky nature. He has a great amount of confidence in himself and his skills and enjoys reinforcing others’ faith in him as well, leading him to show off and consequently panic if things go awry, like when he is more concerned about whether or not the Turtle Tank working improperly is his fault in “The Mutant Menace” rather than the fact that it is working improperly. Donnie can be irresponsible, blaming others for his mistakes or denying his part in a problem, such as in “Al Be Back” where he claims to have no memory of accidentally making Albearto evil. However, he has shown improvement in this as he acknowledges that he was wrong to treat S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. so unpityingly in "Breaking Purple" and apologizes to him. Donnie has a tendency to be passive-aggressive. Instead of directly confronting his brothers about their bad habits, he presents "gifts" that would force them to give up their habits in “Donnie's Gifts”. Donnie is often sarcastic and has an inclination for cynicism as well. As such, he can often be rude, rarely unintentionally so. He often insults his brothers(cough cough Leo), especially when he is not in the mood for their company, and tends to find them to be annoyingly predictable in their behaviors as expressed in "The Longest Fight" and "One Man's Junk". Donnie is also shown to be uncomfortable with being touched. In Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, he is shown to be against hugging to the point where Raph insists that him holding Donnie in after being launched off the Technodrome is a rescue and not a hug. Donnie’s pride in his inventions as well as the sheer amount of them created to aid him in combat results in him relying more on his technology than his foundation in ninjutsu, causing his skills to stagnate, though this is an issue his brothers also share.
History) Donnie began life as a juvenile turtle in Baron Draxum's laboratory. Wishing to create a mutant army with formidable combat capabilities, Draxum used Lou Jitsu's DNA paired with his ooze to turn Donnie from an ordinary turtle into a mutant. He and his brothers were then stolen from Draxum's laboratory by Lou Jitsu promptly after their mutation and Donnie went on to be raised in the sewers of New York City alongside his brothers by Splinter. Eventually, Donnie and his brothers met a human girl named April and forged a strong bond with her through the years.
Relationships) *FAMILY: Donatello's parent(s) Hamato Yoshi / Lou Jitsu / Splinter: Splinter is Donnie's father. Donnie has a somewhat rough relationship with Splinter. He punishes Splinter taking the Turtle Tank for a secret joyride in "The Fast and the Furriest" just as Splinter would do to him and he doesn't wish to parent S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. as Splinter did him as revealed in "Breaking Purple". However, it is shown in "Turtle-dega Nights: The Ballad of Rat Man" that Donnie deeply desires Splinter's attention and is very easily swept up in elation when spending time with him. While his relationship with Splinter leaves something to be desired from Donnie, he ultimately loves his father and states that he would do anything for him in "Anatawa Hitorijanai". Baron Draxum: Draxum is Donnie's father. During their first encounter in "Mystic Mayhem", Donnie demonstrated the greatest skill among his brothers in one-on-one melee combat against Draxum and he was the Mad Dogs' adversary throughout season 1. Despite him becoming a part of his family, Donnie still remains cold towards Draxum. However, he did request his help in "Air Turtle" when Leo accidentally turned the Daves into demonic warriors, regarding Draxum as an expert in mystic powers. Compared to his brothers, Donnie's personality is actually closest to that of Draxum, both being sullen, flamboyant mad scientists with a smug arrogant streak, similar tastes in laboratory décor, and even the same distinct moody style of black eyebrows. Raphael: Donnie deeply respects and loves Raph, however, Raph's antics can irritate him. Donnie finds Raph's love for smashing through situations uninteresting at times and encourages him to think before he acts. However, Donnie appreciates Raph's physical protection towards him. From the other side, Raph can see how deeply Donnie cares despite his unemotional exterior, and hates the idea of hurting him, as seen in Donnie's Gifts. Michelangelo: Donnie cares deeply about Mikey and has had adventures with him like as seen in "Repo Mantis". While he can be annoyed by Mikey's over-exuberance at times, they usually work together well. The two make up for each other's shortcomings, with Donnie able to keep Mikey focused and Mikey making up for Donnie's lack of people skills. He takes Mikey's advice seriously in "Breaking Purple" and trusts that he would help with personal goals as seen in "Mind Meld". Even so, Donnie is protective of his little brother, and thinks Mikey needs to stop being so reckless or he might get hurt as seen in "Donnie's Gifts". Occasionally, Donnie disbelieves Mikey's intuition, but is not hesitant to admit he was wrong when proven otherwise. Leonardo: Donnie and Leo demonstrate sibling rivalry frequently throughout the series, thanks to clashing personalities. Donnie with his deadpan humour finds Leo's rapid-fire puns especially annoying and is frustrated by his attention-seeking stunts. The two often clash between Leo's crazy improvisation and Donnie's brisk logic and seem most competitive over whose plan will be more successful. Despite this, the brothers can be harmonious when their attention is focused on a single goal, like helping April bond with a friend, and there can be no doubt that Donnie loves his brother deeply, though he's embarrassed to admit it. April O'Neil: April and Donnie are prone to feeding off of each others' adrenaline highs and going on crazy adventures. They are also prone to moderate arguments. Donnie usually jumps at opportunities to help April with her problems, however, he often accidentally worsens them or creates an entirely new issue for her to resolve instead. Piebald: Piebald is technically Donnie's sister, though they did not meet as mutants until "Flushed, but Never Forgotten" when she worked with Franken-Foot and Splinter to prank him and his brothers for flushing her down the toilet and lying about having done it. S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.: Donnie has a father-son relationship with S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. Initially Donnie created him to do chores for him and the rest of his family. However, as time went on, Donnie grew more attached to S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N., and is now very fond of him, dutifully changing his coolant three times a day and lovingly scratching him behind his ears as expressed in "Cloak and Swaggart". S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. would later sacrifice his own life trying to save his family from an onslaught by the Shredder during the destruction of their lair. Hamato Karai: Karai is Donnie's ancestral grandmother. After learning her relation to him in "Shreddy or Not", Donnie was quick to try to impress Karai with his tech and was immediately rewarded with a basic compliment from an authority figure—something Donnie had struggled to get out of Splinter all his life. *FRIENDS AND ALLIES: Mayhem: Upon first meeting him in "Mystic Mayhem", Donnie thought Mayhem was a St. Bernard. The two of them also share the same favorite Jupiter Jim movie. Todd Capybara: Donnie helped Todd build a facility for his Cuddle Cakes Puppy Rescue in exchange for the repossession of his recreational vehicle in "Repo Mantis". While he does not share Todd's love for the wilderness, Donnie still holds at least some respect for him. Franken-Foot: Donnie accepted Franken-Foot as a friend once Raph confessed his fondness for him in "Sparring Partner". Red Fox: Donnie seems to have respect for Red Fox and sought her out to reunite her with Marcus Moncrief in "Sidekick Ahoy!". Stanley / Bullhop: Donnie seemed to be the least sympathetic towards Bullhop and his situation when he encountered him again in "Bullhop". As opposed to his brothers who became weary of him over time, Donnie seemed to immediately be tired of him once he and his brothers brought him to the lair. He was very irritated when Bullhop flew using his battle shell in his laboratory. Sunita: Donnie likes Sunita's fashion sense and encourages her and April's friendship. He was saved by her when Foot Brute attacked him in "Operation: Normal". Marcus Moncrief: Donnie deeply admires Marcus Moncrief's work in the Jupiter Jim franchise and is often thrilled to interact with him. Tummytello: Donnie developed Tummytello in "Pizza Puffs" as a side effect of his ingestion of mystic poison-filled pizza puffs. Donnie liked him and gave him a proper farewell before he disappeared due to the effects of the poison's antidote. Gentry: Donnie seems to be fine with Gentry. Although he did cause her a considerable amount trouble when he met her in "Donnie vs. Witch Town". John: Donnie encountered John in "The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle" bound alongside two other magicians in the Magic Town House, but didn't free him, choosing to pursue Hypno instead. Cassandra Jones / Foot Recruit: Foot Recruit used to be in the Foot Clan and was previously an enemy to Donnie and his brothers. She finally defected from the Foot and became the Hamato Clan's ally in "Rise". Casey Jones II: Donnie was first introduced to Casey in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie after April brought him to the lair. He was angered by Casey's unauthorized use of his own brand Genius Built, but soon came to realize that his inventions and, thus his brand, was bestowed to Casey by his own future self. Donnie worked with him to take back the Mystic Key from the Foot and later traveled with him to Metro Tower to pursue Raph and the Krang. He was quite intrigued by Casey regaling him with tales of his future self, but remained dubious of the success of Casey's mission due to its conflicts with scientific possibility, believing the capability to alter the future to be implausible. *ENEMIES: Repo Mantis: Donnie and Mikey bargained (and later stole) the Jupiter Jim Moon Buggy from Repo Mantis Salvage that was later modified into the Turtle Tank. Donnie later posed as a junk mogul in "One Man's Junk" to search for a piece of the Kuroi Yōroi in his scrapyard. When S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. ran away from the lair in "Breaking Purple", Donnie went to Repo's scrapyard to look for him and felt guilty overhearing Repo talk about the importance of healthy communication between parents and their children, knowing that his relationship with S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. didn't reflect that. Guardsmen: Donnie fought Garm and Freki in aid of Mayhem as they tried to capture him in "Mystic Mayhem". Huginn & Muninn: Donnie was often in conflict with Huginn and Muninn as henchmen to Draxum as they helped him fulfill his goals. Mutant silverfish: Donnie first encountered mutant silverfish in "Donnie's Gifts" on the streets of New York City and has fought them multiple times since. Albearto: Donnie created the faulty upgrades that turned Albearto evil in "War and Pizza", but denies this and claims he has no memory of doing so. Cheery Tomato: Using his spider shell, Donnie electrocuted Cheery when she trapped him a ball pit in "War and Pizza" and seems to be attracted to her. DIGG: Donnie tried to stop DIGG from destroying New York pizza parlors in "Pizza Pit", but was friendly towards them when he realized that they merely wanted to perform their music publicly. Prairie Dog: Donnie confronted Prairie Dog in their final fight, baselessly insisting that she hated not only pizza, but him and his brothers as well. However, he came to realize his assumptions were incorrect. Mezmer-Ron / Hypno-Potamus: Donnie faced Hypno in "The Evil League of Mutants" when him and the Evil League of Mutants attacked him and his brothers and he was able to defeat him using a ladder. Later in "Battle Nexus: New York", Hypno was Donnie's teammate in Big Mama's Battle Nexus Wizbang, set to oppose Cortex in a chess match. However, he relied on Hypno to win the match as he was turned into a chess piece during the game. Mrs. Cuddles: Donnie didn't believe that Mrs. Cuddles was sentient despite Raph's vehement warnings and even after realizing she was alive with malicious intent remained unafraid of her. It was wasn't until she wielded his Tech-Bō against him that Donnie became fearful of Mrs. Cuddles where he was then captured by her in his laboratory. Mutant magpie: Donnie was seized from the roof of the Turtle Tank by a mutant magpie in "Shadow of Evil" and him and his brothers struggled to subdue it, but eventually succeeded by stripping it of its feathers and rendering it unable to fly. The Purple Dragons: Donnie initially admired the Purple Dragons for their intellect and conceited attitudes. He briefly joined them in "The Purple Jacket" under the name Othello von Ryan in order to own one of their exclusive purple club jackets, which itself was embedded with technology the Purple Dragons secretly used to steal his tech. Kendra: Despite Donnie disliking Kendra, the two actually share the same sharp banter and inflated ego. Kendra later tricked him into piloting a Giant Mech that attacked New York and his brothers under the guise of The Purple Game. Donnie was able to stop the mech from crushing his brothers using his battle shells. Jeremy: Donnie was able to briefly bond with Jeremy over his battle shells' inner workings in "The Purple Jacket", but was later angered by him and his club's thievery of his inventions. Warren Stone: Donnie found Warren's regrowth ability to be very intriguing during his first encounter with him. When he and his brothers were lured to a TV station by Warren in "Newsworthy", Donnie thought that he was a hippo calf in his new form. While Donnie, like most people, never remembers who Warren is, he was the only one to remember that he has the ability to regenerate in "Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree" and attempted to sever his arm from his body to obtain the gauntlet of the Kuroi Yōroi. Gus: Donnie first met Gus in "Bug Busters" as he used him and his brothers' scent to track down Leo in the Grand Nexus Hotel. He later succeeded in stealing Gus' ID tag from his collar in "The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek". Atomic Lass: Donnie was excited to meet Atomic Lass as she is his favorite character from the Jupiter Jim franchise, crush, and, in his own words, his "hero". He was able to dance and flirt with her, but ended up accidentally knocking the head of her costume off with the Tech-Bō after she attacked him in "Mascot Melee". Donnie defeated Atomic Lass after being chased up an LED display by her. Baxter Stockboy: Donnie set out with his brothers to complete kind acts of service for New Yorkers after hearing about his family's bad reputation spread by Baxter in "The Mutant Menace". He fired a bowling ball from the Turtle Tank at Baxter's Stock & Shop blimp, forcing him to abandon it via parachute. Mrs. Nubbins: Donnie recaptured Mrs. Nubbins in "One Man's Junk" after she was accidentally released from her enclosure by Raph and Leo and attempted to eat Repo. Rupert Swaggart / Meat Sweats: Donnie was kidnapped by Meat Sweats when he first met him in "Donnie's Gifts", nearly being cooked by him, but was saved by his brothers. Big Mama: Big Mama was apparently the first parent-aged adult to compliment an invention of Donnie's and he initially liked her very much, until her betrayal of the Mad Dogs in "Bug Busters". The Foot Clan: The Foot Clan are the sworn enemy of the Hamato Clan. Donnie led the Mad Dogs to the Foot Clan after searching for crime reports online in "Origami Tsunami". Oroku Saki / The Shredder: Saki is technically Donnie's human ancestor as he is the ancestor of the Hamato bloodline through Karai. Donnie has displayed a deep fear of the Shredder as seen in "Many Unhappy Returns." At a New York ship yard, Donnie attempted to attack Shredder using all of his inventions, but he was entirely unfazed. Donnie's battle shell was then destroyed by Shredder as he tried to flee and in a panic, Donnie threw a handkerchief at Shredder's eyes, briefly blinding and disorienting him. Ghostbear: Donnie attended what would have been Ghostbear's 200th wrestling match victory alongside his brothers in "Shell in a Cell" and assisted Raph and Leo when they were losing the fight against him. Later, his family day-out at a park was ruined by Ghostbear in "Snow Day" and he worked to defeat him alongside the other Mad Dogs. Harold / Stinkbomb: Donnie met Stinkbomb when he and his brothers broke into a New York botanical garden for fun in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will". Donnie was seemingly unable to defeat him, overwhelmed by his noxious spit. The Tooth Fairies: Donnie freed Todd from the Tooth Fairies' capture in "Todd Scouts". Alex Noe: Donnie snuck into Alex Noe's camp when he and his Tooth Fairies abducted Todd in "Todd Scouts". As he fled his camp accompanied by Todd, Donnie was pursued by them and was struck with their numbing darts. The Daves: Donnie opposed the Daves in a game of basketball in "Air Turtle" in order to turn them from demon to human and succeeded. Tim Dunkman: Donnie defeated Tim in a basketball game in "Air Turtle" to revert him and the rest of his team back to their human forms after they were turned into demons by the Arch of Aquinnah. Mayor Mira: Donnie didn't accept Mira's welcome to Witch Town in "Donnie vs. Witch Town" and was generally aloof towards her, trying to passive-aggressively assert that her use of mystic powers were inferior to science. Donnie was banished by Mira from the town after accidentally obliterating the town's crown statue. After fending off Morgan, he apologized to her and the entirety of Witch Town for his behavior and attitude, but he wasn't forgiven and Mira had him arrested by the Hidden City Police for his disruption of the Peace Offering Festival. Scor-Pion: When Marcus Moncrief and Raph were threatened by Scor-Pion in "Sidekick Ahoy!", Donnie staunchly deactivated his explosives and eventually caused him to flee the fight. The Sando Brothers: Donnie sought to defeat the Sando Brothers after him and his brothers discovered they were disrupting a school field trip in "The Evil League of Mutants", but was unable to defeat them. Despite being enemies, he later saved the Sando Brothers in "Man VS. Sewer" from being cooked by Raph in his Savage Raph state. Cortex: Donnie opposed Cortex in a chess game in "Battle Nexus: New York" as part of Big Mama's Battle Nexus Wizbang. He was turned into the pieces of him and his teammate Hypno's chess board, rendering Donnie unable to play and at risk of becoming a chess piece for Cortex to own if his team failed. The Krang: Donnie learned of the Krang in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie as they invaded Earth and found their organic composition especially repulsive. Krang One: Donnie fought Krang One at the Foot's hideout in an effort to take the Mystic Key from them, but lost the battle. He later was forcefully removed from the Technodrome main console after Krang One realized he and Mikey had overtaken it to steer the ship back into the Krang prison dimension. Donnie fought Krang One in his Titan alongside his brothers afterward, but was unable to best him. Krang Three: Donnie worked with Mikey to wrestle control of the Technodrome from Krang Three and eventually managed to obtain it, using his control of the ship to restrain Krang Three against a wall.
Other) Donnie retreats into his shell in "Lair Games" (only having difficulty because of a leg cast), as well as in "Many Unhappy Returns", and "Mascot Melee" (only his head), something real-life softshell turtles can't do due to their reduced plastrons and carapaces. One of Donnie's catchphrases is "Fibbonacci". Donnie is stated to be a bit more confident than his previous incarnations and he also knows that he is good at what he does. Donnie is the only Turtle to have visible eyebrows (only on his mask, however). According to "Lair Games", he has been drawing them on for nine years. Donnie has a peculiar fear of beach balls. Other fears of his mentioned in "War and Pizza" are bees and spiders. It was first mentioned in "War and Pizza", but it was first seen in "Mind Meld". There is also a brief flashback in "Lair Games" that references it. Donnie used to wear glasses when he was younger as shown in "Lair Games" and "End Game". For how long is currently unknown. His vision is perfectly normal without them. Donnie's favorite music genre is techno ("Al Be Back"). Donnie has been the winner of the National Library Competition for three consecutive years as revealed in "Mystic Library". Donnie apparently has several inventions that are in "beta", such as his FAB (Foam Agent Bonding) spray and his giant drill (as seen in "Donnie's Gifts" and "Stuck on You", respectively). Donnie is the only Turtle who chooses not to wield a mystic weapon. Instead of a weapon, he carries a mystic crystal in his goggles, which makes him able to see mystic activities and energy hidden to the naked eye. Donnie is of the opinion that geology is boring ("Mystic Library"). As mentioned by Raph in "Snow Day", Donnie sings all the musical parts of Jupiter Jim's Pluto Vacation IV. Donnie's least favorite animals are monkeys. In "War and Pizza", Donnie states that his type is "cute but mean". Donnie is the first Turtle in the series to be seen without his mask ("The Purple Jacket"). The reason Donnie doesn't wear jackets is that they could get caught in the rotors of his battle shell ("The Purple Jacket"). Donnie doesn't like Hawaiian pizza as expressed in "The Hidden City Job", although his voice actor does. Donnie claims to "record everything" in "The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle". It can be presumed that Donnie is right-handed as he consistently wears his tech-gauntlet on his left wrist and operates it with his right hand. Like Mikey and Leo, Donnie has markings on his skin, unlike them, however, his are lineless (with the exception of Leo's facial stripes). Has a tendency to overwork, stay up late if distracted, and just all around forget to take care of himself sometimes. He works with machines, so he sometimes has the mentality that he doesn't need to eat or sleep while working. Very poor sleeping habits. Sometimes wears purple button up pajama shirt and purple pajama pants at night. He simply refuses to let sleep win. He has self-sacrificing tendencies. In a similar way to how Raph saved Leo by jumping in front of him, Donnie did a similar thing with Mikey twice. First was when Mikey was trying to make a portal when they were in front of the Krang but a portal did not appear. So Donnie tried to cover Mikey to prevent him from getting hurt by the Krang. This caused his battle shell to break. So the Krang creature that hit Donnie’s battle shell was really close to him. Secondly, in the scene where Donnie and Mikey were standing in the air on a building, Donnie tried to protect Mikey from the Krang by stepping in front of him and trying to make a shield with his ninpo. But it did not form in time, and Donnie was hit straight in the face by the Krang. It seemed like he passed out. In these two scenes, Donnie self-sacrificial behavior seemed to be based on instincts because of how fast he was in front of Mikey both times. Side note: For the second scene with Donnie, I don’t know if Donnie had a particular construct in mind he wanted to build because it did not fully show up. But I have headcanon’s that how fast he builds mystic tech really depends on how memorized the thing is in his head. And he essentially has blueprints along with him to create a physical and mystic version of his tech. Next with Donnie, there is the Technodrome scene. First, it is shown in the movie that Donnie tried to just submerge himself with the Technodrome by using his arms, which he has a sensory issue reaction to. After that, he let his whole body be submerged in the Technodrome without his battle shell. Important: It seemed like neither one of them knew whether Donnie would have survived in the Technodrome. To elaborate, after Donnie was in the Technodrome, Mikey just said “Donnie?” like he didn’t know whether Donnie was alive or not. This type of sacrifice seems to be more like Donnie was just guessing what to do and hoped it worked. But he had a little bit of time to think of it, and he still decided to go in the Technodrome. Sometimes headbutts others when he wants attention/show he loves someone. Favorite drinks are flavorless juice and fruit juice of some kind sometimes. Usually wears a purple hoodie if he goes out in public in New York since the whole turtle image would draw attention to him. Can't play basketball at all. Doesn't like spicy foods since it is terrible sensory for his tastebuds. Built almost everything for his family when he was younger, and always seeks validation from them, even though they tease him a lot, they do admire him or are proud, but he doesn’t know that, he’s fucking autistic with major insecurity. Despite his sensory issues, he does enjoy gentle rubs on his softshell and starts churring or cooing in appreciation when he gets scratches on the back of his neck or shoulders. His shoulders, neck, and back are normally tense. Can beatbox extremely well. Donnie is a baker. You cannot convince me otherwise as a baker baking is an exact science. You need to get things perfectly or it all goes to kaput. Donnie loves this and will get so technical bringing out tweezers to measure the exact amount of baking soda or salt and will decorate like an absolute King. His piping techniques are like no other. His desserts taste like Angels themselves brought the ingredients. He changes the recipes deciding that they are not exact enough and are not manipulating The taste buds properly does incredible research and just does this. He does this he doesn't have to. This man would make the best fudge and he's going to make it salted butterscotch vanilla bunch with little crumbs of something on top. After the events of the movie, Donnie had an extreme fear of death, he tried to avoid anything that made him think of it so he’d spend much more time than usual inventing and working on projects to keep his mind of the thought of dying. Endothermic so he enjoys basking, burrowing in sand, and swimming mostly from his turtle tendencies. Sometimes eats food whole if he's hungry enough. Sometimes refers to his tech as his babies for some reason. Donnie can watch pretty much anything. It doesn’t bother him, in part due to his low empathy. He’s the guy who watches someone get torn apart and doesn’t bat an eye. Maybe he even laughs (but it's also fiction), if he feels comfortable enough with the movie. Real injuries aren't too different. He feels no sympathy towards villains, concern for an innocent bystanders, and an urge to 'fix' his family's injuries. However, blood is an unfortunate sensory issue for him, so he can't touch it without gloves on. Donnie has a primarily a hypersensitive sensory profile, and his goggles combo as noise-cancelling headphones to help him cope. ]

Physical Description) Leonardo is presented to be a vibrant lime green skinned terrapin mutant/yokai who possesses the features of a Red-Eared Slider , he is the second tallest of his team. (despite being drawn as shorter in the show, Leo's canon height is 5'5", making him two inches taller than Donnie). He, much like his brothers, sports an altered human-like physique consisting of sculpted, medium-sized figure. Having three fingers on each hand, and two toes on each foot. His slider features consist of light yellow stripe-like markings running down his thighs and arms, sporting two on the sides of his shoulder blades, whilst the other two reside on the sides of his upper thighs. He follows with two red crescent-shaped markings imprinted just on the outer edges of his eyes, having a Goldenrod yellow plastron, as well as a dullish blue grey carapace that has a somewhat darker outer trim around the edges. Plastered on the back is a tri-numbered steel blue pattern that resembles closely to the curly bracket symbol: {}, His eyes are onyx and often rather slanted, probably attributing to his tease-y and 'up to no good' demeanor. Leo wears a Dodger Blue mask that has back-length bandana tails reaching tied at the backside, his forearms donning dark teal fingerless gloves which have a matching dodger blue trim outlined on both sides. Wears black athletic shorts that go under his plastron and cover the tops of his legs. Has 7-inch tail that extends out under his carapace and has two light yellow stripe-like markings that go down the topside of it. The socks on his legs having a matching scheme, reaching just below his knee. The sock lacks coverage on his ankle and toe as well, finishing his attire with a matching blue belt that has two holsters on the back and side, a strap perched on the left of his shoulder. Finally, the turtle emblem is located partially on the right of his plastron.
Personality) Leo is cheerful, prone to making jokes—sometimes at inappropriate times—and uttering quips he believes "fire up the team" as expressed in “Donnie's Gifts”. His persistently carefree nature causes him to possess an airy quality and he enjoys spontaneity. It's also said in the first episode of the series that humor is how he manages to cope. Leo has confidence that usually turns into arrogance and his brothers are often annoyed by his lack of humility, making him difficult to play games with, such as in "Lair Games". Leo is known to be a compulsive liar as seen in "Flushed, but Never Forgotten". He doesn't like being in trouble so he makes his brothers promise not to tell Splinter about Piebald’s fate, even willing to hurt Michelangelo if he tries to tell the truth to Splinter. Leo can be disingenuous as it is not unusual for his charisma to take the form of false flattery just to get into someone’s good graces as seen in “Todd Scouts” and “Bad Hair Day”. His family is aware of this and as such occasionally disbelieves Leo’s compliments. Leo is at times rational and skeptical, denying the existence of things like ghosts and wanting to search for a logical answer as opposed to accrediting it to unexplainable phenomena. Despite this, he is delighted by magic and mystic powers as seen in “Hypno! Part Deux”. He also seems to be the least naïve out of the Mad Dogs as his brothers trust Big Mama almost instantly, though Leo has his doubts about her intentions. However, Leo's tendency to be easily impressed and incessant need for attention can hamper his caution. Leo often prioritizes his own entertainment over disrupting the plans of villains as seen in his interactions with Hypno-Potamus in “Hypno! Part Deux”. Among the Mad Dogs, he isn’t the most altruistic and can be reluctant to help strangers, especially if he knows no gratitude will be shown towards him or his family, such as in “The Mutant Menace” when Leo expressed he doesn’t find doing kind acts for the citizens of New York to be worth the hassle or when he doesn’t combat the evil Albeartos in “Al Be Back” due to them terrorizing Albearto Land attendees, but because they are ruining him and his brothers’ band debut. Leo tends to be lazy and would rather play games and values downtime. Consequently, he highly values convenience, suggesting that instead of focusing on their training they should acquire more powerful mystic weapons in “The Evil League of Mutants”. However, because of this Leo can be clever, finding quick, unconventional ways to solve problems, but this can also be detrimental as he can adopt or encourage dangerous or unhelpful manners of problem-solving, such as in “Air Turtle” where he is nonchalant about turning the Daves into demons in order to initiate a winning streak for them. Though sometimes clever in a pinch, Leo isn’t very bright nor interested when it comes to academic disciplines and rarely reads educational content as shown in “Flushed, but Never Forgotten”. While Leo has merit, his utilization of his skills often needs to be spurred by a dire situation or a lack of options as opposed to Leo trying his best when he can. When he does decide to be serious and sensible, as in the events of "Origami Tsunami", he uses his charisma and relaxed, flexible nature to sway his brothers into listening to him. Leo is irresponsible and known to be generally unreliable among his family due to how flippant he can be even in grave situations and finds it very difficult to take responsibility for his actions while also being boastful about his positive or impressive actions. Although he has been shown to try to reconcile his mistakes and be sympathetic towards others’ plights, such as in “Bullhop” by inviting Bullhop to live with his family and trying to gather the Mad Dogs' continued support for him despite their own reservations for accidentally causing his mutation. Leo demonstrates forte in analytical thinking as shown in “Many Unhappy Returns”, able to plan several steps ahead of Big Mama, but he can be so determined to successfully execute his plans while also having glory that he uses his allies instead of working with them and is comfortable misleading his allies and opponents alike to his achieve goals such as in “Air Turtle”. He also wore a tri-colored bell-bottom jumpsuit which had a pale blue base, followed with white-cuffed sleeves which were rolled to his elbow, having a gold buckle attached at the front of his navel-level. The upper half of his jumpsuit being parted to show a glimpse of his abs. He followed that by bearing a two-toned white and rust orange shawl over his shoulders, matched by a pair of rust orange gloves, platformed white shoes, and finally sporting a pair of bright orange visor glasses which had a darker trim lined on the outside. Tailor made for him so he could sneak his ōdachi in the arena. Upon the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie, Leo's character flaws are put to the test where his overall immaturity allows the Foot Clan to steal the Mystic Key and unleash the Krang. This leads him to be berated by Raph for his senselessness and his student-from-the-future, Casey Jones II for failing to be the responsible master he always looked up to. Leo finally accepts his own faults with humility when he confronts a zombified Raph and acknowledges the true meaning of teamwork, responsibility of a leader, and family, even willing to sacrifice himself if it means his family and the world are safe. It is also revealed in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie that this arrogant personality may be a façade to hide Leo's deeper insecurities. This was lightly foreshadowed in "Portal Jacked!", where he states that he is nothing without his brothers, "Minotaur Maze", where he calls himself useless, and when he asks Splinter why no one seems to trust him.
History) Leo began life as a juvenile turtle in Baron Draxum's laboratory. Wishing to create a mutant army with formidable combat capabilities, Draxum used Lou Jitsu's DNA paired with his ooze to turn Leo from an ordinary turtle into a mutant. He and his brothers were then stolen from Draxum's laboratory by Lou Jitsu promptly after their mutation and Leo went on to be raised in the sewers of New York City alongside his brothers by Splinter. Eventually, Leo and his brothers met a human girl named April and forged a strong bond with her through the years.
Biography) Leo is intelligent and quick-witted. He uses his sharp skills to beat opponents, find shortcuts around obstacles, and always knows the perfect time to land one of his many one-liners. Leonardo is intelligent, quick-witted and clever. He can easily assess any situation and use his sharp skills to best his opponent, find a shortcut around an obstacle or spot the perfect time to land one of his many one-liners. Leo likes to think of himself as the "cool guy" on the team - a rascal with a wink in his eye and a sly grin. He's got a rebel's heart and isn't afraid to break the rules when he thinks he's right. He could be a strong leader, but he'd rather go for the hi-jinx than the high road.
Relationships) FAMILY: Leonardo's parent(s) Hamato Yoshi / Lou Jitsu / Splinter: Splinter is Leo's father. Unlike the other eras, he has a rocky relationship with Splinter as he deeply loves him, calling him his hero in "Jupiter Jim Ahoy!" while also regularly talking badly about him and feels little inclination to listen to him. Leo is quite casual towards Splinter and is unafraid to tease and be rude to him. Leo claims he is his father's least favorite son ("Down with the Sickness"). How serious he was in his comment remains unclear, however. Nevertheless, it was Leo who Splinter assigned as the Mad Dogs' new team leader in "Rise". Baron Draxum: Draxum is Leo's creator. Leo and him were enemies throughout the first season as he and the Mad Dogs tried to foil his plans repeatedly. However, after the events of "End Game", Mikey insisted that Draxum should be embraced as a member of the family. Despite now being family members, Leo doesn't get along with Draxum as he resents him for throwing him off a roof in "Bug Busters" and seemingly has yet to forgive him. Raphael: Leo typically gets along well with Raph and they can both get carried away in fun, indulgent ideas and activities together. Leo's easy-going nature allows him to accept that Raph doesn't perform well under pressure and he appreciates the fact that he refrains from using his full strength against him and the other Mad Dogs in an act of consideration. Though they sometimes bicker, whether it is over wrestling or Raph's leadership. At times their squabbles stem from Leo just wanting to be impish towards him for his own amusement like in "Shell in a Cell". However, it is not unusual for them to align themselves with each other in episodes like "One Man's Junk". Leo relies on Raph to fix problems and take initiative in handling situations because he trusts him, but also because Leo can be too lackadaisical to help or do it himself. Raph and Leo were butting heads more after Splinter made Leo leader of the Mad Dogs. They eventually make amends after Leo saves Raph from the Krang in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie. Donatello: Leo's relationship with Donnie is fraught with sibling rivalry thanks to clashing personalities. Leo thinks Donnie should loosen up, while Donnie with his deadpan humour and dedication to logic finds Leo's rapid-fire puns and showboating annoying. The two compete most over whose plan will work the best and both have an ego to satisfy. When competing, Leo knows that Donnie will use logic and science to one-up him, and concocts more eccentric strategies to counter. However the two still love each other deeply. Leo understands his brother sees the world a little differently to others, and is protective of him when it comes to this. When they share a common goal Leo's cunning improvisations can be taken in unexpected directions by the highly focused Donnie. It is implied that they often visit Hueso's Run of the Mill Pizza together. Michelangelo: Leo and Mikey have a cool older brother and little brother dynamic. They both share similar lighthearted, jokey personalities and as such get along very well. Leo loves Mikey deeply, but he rarely babies him, unlike his brothers. Though this also means that Leo is not merciful towards him in competitions. He encourages Mikey to be independent and liberally allows him to do as he pleases and typically doesn't feel compelled to scold him. Leo loves the wild, creative way Mikey approaches situations and regularly praises his efforts, such as in "The Mutant Menace". However, he does get irritated by Mikey's competitive side and will participate if egged on enough as seen in "Mrs. Cuddles" and "You Got Served". April O'Neil: Leo loves April and as such is not above teasing her as he does his brothers as seen in "Mystic Mayhem" when Leo taunts her with her keys and in "Warren & Hypno, Sitting in a Tree" where he states that April's standards on what constitutes as a happy birthday for her should be greater. Leo was concerned she may mess up when hanging out with Sunita in "Operation: Normal" and tried to help her. By "Anatawa Hitorijanai", it is clear that April is actually more like a sister to him and his brothers. Piebald: Piebald is technically Leo's sister, as Splinter is father to both of them. Before Piebald mutated, she was Splinter's pet goldfish, but Leo accidentally flushed her down the toilet and coerced his brothers into keeping silent about her fate. Later, Piebald mutated and secretly reunited with Splinter, and two of them schemed with Franken-Foot to play an elaborate prank on Leo and his brothers in "Flushed, but Never Forgotten". Hamato Karai: Karai is Leo's ancestral grandmother. After meeting her Leo and his brothers spent time with Karai in the lair in "Shreddy or Not". He loves her dearly and attempted to go after her after the Shredder mortally wounded her.
FRIENDS AND ALLIES: Todd Capybara: Leo was taught wilderness survival by Todd in "Todd Scouts". Leo makes it clear he likes Todd, but finds his teaching boring ("Todd Scouts"). Franken-Foot: Leo easily accepted Franken-Foot as his friend once he understood he is Raph's friend and defends him for the rest of his debut episode. Later in "Flushed, but Never Forgotten", Franken-Foot secretly cooperated with Piebald and Splinter to play an educational prank on Leo and his brothers. S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.: Leo initially appreciated S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.'s butler function, but suggested he, Mikey, and Raph reprogram him to be more like them after realizing he held favoritism towards Donnie in "Smart Lair". After his second incarnation, Leo trusts him much more, even assigning S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. to protect Karai when the Shredder attacked in "Shreddy or Not". Señor Hueso: Leo's friendship grew with Hueso after helping him in "Portal Jacked!" and "The Hidden City Job". However, Leo tends to annoy Hueso with his persistence and by disrupting his day. He seems to feel compelled to involve himself in Hueso's personal life, uninvited or not and calls him "Bone man". DIGG: Leo tried to stop DIGG from destroying New York pizza parlors, but was friendly towards them when he realized that they merely wanted to perform their music publicly. Marcus Moncrief: Leo deeply admires Marcus Moncrief's work in the Jupiter Jim franchise and is often thrilled to interact with him. Leo swiftly forgave him for using his once-thought-to-be-fictional nerve pinch on him and Mikey to imprison them in "Jupiter Jim Ahoy!". He labels Marcus Moncrief as "the greatest actor in the history of low-budget sci-fi". Red Fox: Leo seems to have respect for Red Fox and sought her out to reunite her with Marcus Moncrief in "Sidekick Ahoy!". Capitán Piel: Piel was initially Leo's enemy after he kidnapped Leo's brothers in "Portal Jacked!", but the two became friends after the events of "The Hidden City Job". Leo was willing to give Piel a chance to redeem himself to Hueso, despite Hueso's reluctance. Tamed simurgh: In "The Hidden City Job", Leo helped Hueso and Piel tame a wild simurgh, who was thereafter their ally. Leo particularly enjoyed the sensation of being inside the simurgh's joey pouch. Stanley / Bullhop: Feeling guilty for putting him in a situation to get mutated in "Bug Busters", Leo invited him to live at the lair to make up for it. He wrestled with his growing irritation for Bullhop's messy and inconsiderate behavior as a guest and his still lingering guilt about his mutation. Even still, Leo encouraged Raph to continue to extend the offer to stay with them if he needs to and supports Bullhop's dream to be a Canadian ballet dancer. Don Suave: Before they met in "The Hidden City Job", Leo had already befriended both Hueso and Piel who together comprise Don Suave as a mystic fusion. Upon seeing him for the first time at Big Mama's auction house, he immediately found him attractive, Suave advising Leo to avert his gaze as to not be impacted by his ability. He used a mystic power weaponizing his beauty to incapacitate Big Mama and her guards so he and Leo could escape after they were surrounded. As they fled on their tamed simurgh, Leo sat in his arms rubbing his face against him with eyes still shut. Suave was heroically stoic meanwhile and the affection remained definitively one-sided. Leo resumed his friendship with Hueso and Piel after Suave returned to being two separate individuals. Sunita: Leo likes and trusts Sunita as he thanks her for house sitting when he and his brothers leave for wilderness survival training in "Cloak and Swaggart" and encourages her and April's friendship. John: Leo is a fan of John and discovered him at the Magic Town House when he was restrained with other magicians in "The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle". However, Leo didn't free him from his restraints before venturing elsewhere in the Town House in pursuit of Hypno. Cassandra Jones / Foot Recruit: Leo often got into physical confrontations with Foot Recruit when she was in the Foot Clan, but she became his family's ally when she finally turned against the Shredder in "Rise". Casey Jones II: Leo was frightened upon meeting Casey in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie, but was quite flattered by Casey's admiration for him. He heeded Casey's urgent desire to deprive the Krang of the Mystic Key and ran to grab it against Raph's orders. It was because of Casey's honesty involving his failed mission to rescue Raph from his captors that Leo was able to gain perspective on his leadership and realize he wasn't taking his family's suggestions into account.
ENEMIES: Albearto: Leo fought against Albearto's robot army when he gave them sentience in "Al Be Back" and performed a song with his brothers to prompt the Albeartos' widespread destruction. Huginn & Muninn: Leo was often in opposition to Huginn and Muninn as they aided Draxum as his henchmen. Joey the Junkyard Dog: Leo engaged in a dance fight against Joey in "Mascot Melee" in order to repossess the money intended to be used on Splinter and was able to defeat him. Atomic Lass: Leo was challenged by Atomic Lass in a dance fight in "Mascot Melee" and he was surprised by her proficiency, but didn't get the chance to counter. Mutant silverfish: Leo first encountered mutant silverfish in "Donnie's Gifts" on the streets of New York City and has fought them multiple times since. Mrs. Cuddles: Leo didn't believe that Mrs. Cuddles was sentient despite Raph's vehement warnings and was captured by her while skateboarding with Mikey. Baxter Stockboy: Leo broke into Baxter's family grocery store in "The Gumbus" to prove to Mikey that the Gumbus was fictional and ended up exposing Baxter's haunting hoax. Later in "The Mutant Menace", Leo attempted to complete kind favors for New Yorkers when Baxter was telling the public that he and his brothers were malicious threats. Big Mama: In "Bug Busters", Leo was the only one of the brothers to intuit that Big Mama was actually evil before she betrayed them. Later in "Many Unhappy Returns", Leo very shrewdly outwitted Big Mama at her own game, even predicting the ways that she would alter the terms of their agreement. Guardsmen: Leo fought Garm and Freki to defend Mayhem when he was being pursued by them in "Mystic Mayhem" and encountered them again in "Insane in the Mama Train" as they tried to prevent him from reaching the train car holding the Kuroi Yōroi. The Foot Clan: The Foot Clan are the sworn enemy of the Hamato Clan. Foot Brute: Foot Lieutenant: Oroku Saki / The Shredder: Saki is technically Leo's human ancestor as he is the ancestor of the Hamato bloodline through Karai. Ghostbear: Leo accidentally defeated Ghostbear in "Shell in a Cell" and broke his undefeated wrestling streak. Leo later engaged in a vehicular chase on the Shell Hogs to reclaim his and his brothers' stolen DVD from Ghostbear in "Late Fee", deceiving him into returning it on-time. His family day-out at a park was ruined by Ghostbear in "Snow Day" and he worked to defeat him alongside the other Mad Dogs. Harold / Stinkbomb: Leo met Stinkbomb when he and his brothers broke into a New York botanical garden for fun in "How to Make Enemies and Bend People to Your Will". Leo was seemingly unable to defeat him, overwhelmed by his noxious spit. The Purple Dragons: Leo had to fight the Purple Dragon's rampaging Giant Mech unknowingly piloted by Donnie in "The Purple Game", but was unable to take it down in the end. Repo Mantis: Leo trespassed onto Repo's salvage lot with Raph in search for a piece of the Kuroi Yōroi in "One Man's Junk". However, him and Raph unknowingly released Repo's mutated pet cat, Mrs. Nubbins, from her enclosure, but was able to trap her back inside with the help of his brothers. Mrs. Nubbins: When Raph mistakenly unlocked the door of Mrs. Nubbins' cage on Repo's salvage lot in "One Man's Junk", Leo was pursued and nearly eaten by her, but managed to sequester her again afterward. Gus: Leo was hunted by Gus when he fled from Big Mama and his brothers in "Bug Busters", but was able to evade his grasp due to Mikey. He later succeeded in stealing his ID tag from his collar in "The Ancient Art of Ninja Hide and Seek". Mutant magpie: Leo and his brothers tried to rescue Donnie from the grasp of a mutant magpie in "Shadow of Evil" and struggled to subdue it, but eventually succeeded by stripping it of its feathers and rendering it unable to fly. The Evil Six: Leo was pitted against the Evil Six in Big Mama's Battle Nexus in "Many Unhappy Returns" and defeated them using several portals from his ōdachi. Mezmer-Ron / Hypno-Potamus: Leo likes Hypno's sense of fashion and fought him alongside Raph when he planned to eradicate Washington Irving High School in "Hypno! Part Deux". He was enraged by Hypno's thievery of Harry Houdini's journals from the Magic Town House in "The Clothes Don't Make the Turtle" and worked with his brothers the seize them from his possession. Hush-Bats: Leo was forcibly taken to the Mystic Library's kiddie room by Hush-Bats in "Mystic Library" for his violation of the Library's noise restrictions. The Daves: Leo opposed the Daves in a game of basketball in "Air Turtle" in order to turn them from demon to human and succeeded. Tim Dunkman: Leo was hired by Tim to work as a mascot for the Daves and Leo deeply admires him, even stating he sees him as a surrogate father figure in "Air Turtle". However, Leo faced him in a basketball game when Tim transformed himself into a demon using the Arch of Aquinnah and successfully defeated him. Warren Stone: Leo never remembers who Warren Stone is and doesn't understand his regenerative abilities as expressed in "Newsworthy". He did once slice him in half in a panic though to his brothers' disgust in "Newsworthy". The Sando Brothers: Leo sought to fight the Sando Brothers after him and his brothers discovered they were disrupting a school field trip in "The Evil League of Mutants", but was unable to defeat them. Despite being enemies, he later saved the Sando Brothers in "Man VS. Sewer" from being cooked by Raph in his Savage Raph state. Carl Sando: Leo was partnered with Carl in "Battle Nexus: New York" for Big Mama's Battle Nexus Wizbang. He found it quite difficult to work with Carl as they had conflicting ideas of entertaining comedy, but Leo ultimately used him to perform physical comedy to provoke their foe into laughing. Rupert Swaggart / Meat Sweats: Leo encountered Meat Sweats in "Donnie's Gifts" as he was cooking mutant silverfish. Once he and his brothers realized that Meat Sweats had captured Donnie, intending to eat him, he successfully defeated him. Leo later fought him in "The Fast and the Furriest", countering his corrosive acid with a portal. Alex Noe: Leo snuck into Alex Noe's camp when he and his Tooth Fairies abducted Todd in "Todd Scouts". As he fled his camp accompanied by Todd, Leo was pursued by them and was struck with their numbing darts. The Masters of Barbarianism: Leo served the Masters of Barbarianism as as favor to Hueso when his staff abandoned their shifts in "You Got Served". Boss Bruce: Leo was offered a hundred unicorns by Bruce to hurt Hueso after he dropped his and the Makers of Brutality's cake and Leo found it difficult to refuse, though he managed to in the end. He fended off Bruce when he attacked him, Mikey, and Hueso. Scor-Pion: When Marcus Moncrief and Raph were threatened by Scor-Pion in "Sidekick Ahoy!", Leo staunchly deactivated his explosives and eventually caused him to flee the fight. Sprite: Leo's designated opponent in "Battle Nexus: New York" was a sprite Yōkai who he was tasked with making laugh in order to win the Battle Nexus match and eventually succeeded utilizing physical comedy. The Krang: Leo met the Krang in Rise of the TMNT: The Movie and worked with his family to stop their plot to take over the Earth. Krang One: Leo was attacked by Krang One once he made a hasty dash for the Mystic Key after his family tried to retreat from their first battle against the Krang, but was spared from injury by Raph. He tried to attack Krang One after discovering he had transformed Raph into a Krang zombie, but was unable to due to Krang reinforcements arriving on the scene and later resolved to trap himself within the Krang prison dimension with Krang One after he and his brothers failed to defeat him.
Other) Unlike previous incarnations, this version of Leo is rebellious and the self-proclaimed coolest Turtle as opposed to Raph, who takes over as both the eldest Turtle and the leader of the team, with Leo being the second oldest. Leo does not become the Mad Dogs leader until the last part of the season 2 finale ("Rise"), a deviation which was a deliberate attempt by the writers to explore Leo's character without a leadership role, which is furthered in the 2022 Netflix movie. Writers have elaborated Leo is difficult to write for, which contributed to the decision to heavily tweak his character for this version. Leo's red and yellow stripes are also found on real-life red-eared sliders and is part of where the species' name originates. According to a behind the scenes video, Leo's main flaw as a potential leader is lacking maturity as he is more interested in enjoying life[10], a trait he ironically shares with this iteration's version of Splinter, and compared to Raph who is generally more mature than Leo in this iteration. Leo's favorite music genre is glam rock ("Al Be Back"). It was revealed in 2018 by Rise of the TMNT executive producer Ant Ward that Leo's personality is inspired by Han Solo and Star-Lord. A running gag with Leo is that he is regularly seen dabbing. As said by Raph in "Bug Busters", whenever Leo says "indubitably" he is scheming. Leo has an interest in basketball as seen in "Hypno! Part Deux" and "Late Fee". This is confirmed in "Air Turtle". Leo can be heard speaking Spanish occasionally throughout the series. It was revealed in December 2019 in a Tweet that this incarnation of Leo speaking basic Spanish was ideated by Rise of the TMNT staff writer Russ Carney.
