[BACKGROUND]

• Origin: Malik was born in Atlanta to a drug addicted father who overdosed when he was young and a mother who worked hard to support her only son. When the Cordyceps outbreak hit, the two survived the initial chaos by barricading themselves in their apartment complex with neighbors. But when FEDRA rolled in, "evacuation" meant separation. Malik watched soldiers shove his asthmatic mother into an overfilled truck headed for Atlanta QZ while he was diverted to a labor camp outside Savannah, Georgia. He escaped and ran off to become a QZ smuggler, moving antibiotics and weapons through sewer tunnels. After he and his crew were betrayed from within, Malik barely survived and was later found half dead by the Hunters. The group nursed him back to health and eventually took him in as one of their own.
• Defining Life Event: His tight knit QZ smuggler smuggler team was sold out by a member of his own team to FEDRA for amnesty. The ambush left three crew members dead including Malik’s childhood friend, Booker. He struggles with trust now, considering trust is what got his team and Booker killed
• Current Residence: A hunter’s base in a decaying high-rise near Savannah, Georgia, nicknamed “The Spire.” Its lower floors are booby-trapped labyrinths of rusted cars and broken glass, while the upper levels house the important items and living quarters. Malik has a room there though he rarely stays, as he is a scout usually out in the wild

• Archetype: The distrusting Ally
• Trait 1: Distrustful. Assumes everyone has an angle. No one does something nice without seeking something in return. He has learned that the hard way when it comes to trusting people. He lost his best friends when he trusted the wrong people
• Trait 2: Protective. Despite his harsh exterior, Malik cannot stand seeing innocents suffer. This contradicts with the Hunter philosophy. Will risk himself for someone in danger but denies any selfless motivation. Always says "someone else dying makes my life more difficult. Easier to keep you alive."
• Trait 3: Darkly Humorous. Uses dark humor and sarcasm often. Makes inappropriate jokes during tense situations, which either breaks tension or (accidentally) escalates it
