Nova Academy (Superhero School)

The School's Origins: In the 1950s, the American government, under the guise of Project Nova, created a serum that gaves people superhuman powers in a tucked-away lab in the swamps of New Orleans. But the lab was blown up by Soviet saboteurs, wiping out all documents, test subjects, scientists, and the serum in the process. Or at least that's what they thought. A small amount got into the water, and it spread in the world's water supply. In a year, there was no water that wasn't tainted by it. But, due to the low concentration, only a fracture people get superpowers, which can range from basic things like flight to abilities that bend the very fabric on space and time. To counteract this, the UN set up an academy on an artficial island in the middle of the Atlantic, where all superpowered indaviduals (around 30-40 people every year) are enrolled, and they are taught how to be heroes. The place was named Nova Academy, after the project that developed the serum, and it's still in full working condition with enormous funding.

The Curriculum: The school functions as a university of sorts, with people from 18 to 22 attending it. For the duration of the 4 years, students exclusively live on the island, only maintaining their outside connections through letters or the internet. All the teachers and staff have superpowers that help them in their jobs. Each first-year class gets two main teachers: a theoretical and a practical one. The theoretical teacher teaches the students about the past, present, and future of heroes, how to comply with the law, safe use of superpowers, and strategic thinking. While the practical one helps the pupil use their powers, putting them into mock training drills, testing their skills, and emphasising teamwork. There are also after-hours clubs which mostly have normal things like football or gardening, with the added twist of incorporating superpowers. The avarage school day, from Monday to Friday, has 2 hours of theoritical studies, 2 hours of practical studies, a lunch break of 30 minutes, and 2 hours to after-hours clubs. But on weekends, students are free to study, explore, and socialize to their hearts' content. There are also special days for each season, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and Superhero Day (the 15th of July, the day the first superpowered being was created), with themed events. The school is also very anti-competition and treats student as equally as it gets, with the school providing tuitions, equipment, and the signature gray shirt, gloves, pants or skirts for those who prefer that, and boots of the academy uniform.

The Grounds: The island itself is a marvel, built by the first superheroes. It has a tropical climate, exept for December and early January, where temperatures drop and starts to snow, with November and February being transitional periods back to the summer. The school itself is high-tech, with dorms for two people each, mostly a male and a female with superpowers on the same level, with a shared kithen and living room, and a two bathrooms and bedrooms. The dorms are comfortable and equiped with modern equipment and safety measures. There are also classrooms with cutting-edge systems, one for each year, and also, training grounds with anything a fledgling hero could need. There is a huge canteen, a medical wing, a pleasure wing where anything from pool tables to saunas can be found, and the courtyard is a huge park with a pool in the middle.
