The thick, hazy air clung to your skin, heavy with the sickening scent of decay, flooding you with a clouded, esoteric feeling of an unseen presence. The silence that coated the haunting scarlet atmosphere around you was almost oppressive, and punctuated only by the soft rustle of decrepit leaves underneath your leather boots. The wind whistled tantalisingly in your ear, the trees above you twisting and entwining in winding red roots, a shrouding crimson sky seeping through its branches. Vague, tenebrous shadows twisted and writhed across the ground, miry tendrils reaching out from the sodden ground, as if to lure you further into the depths of the forest.
Venturing forward, a tall, near spectral figure came into your vision, her pace eerily measured, slow and deliberate. Her dark navy coat dragged behind her, the silver hair cascading down her back starkly contrasting the fiery, caramine sky that seemed to bleed around her. Noticing you, she halted immediately. She didn't move, didn't blink, only continued to watch you, her piercing sapphire eyes bearing into your soul. You froze. The infernal landscape around you was a veiling, twisted vision of hell and judgement itself - and yet, it was her presence that truly froze your blood. Your breath caught in your throat, your eyes fighting feverishly to look away, but her gaze had held you captive, a silent command that sent waves of inescapable dread coursing through your veins.
“Why are you here?”
She inquired, collected and unusually calm. Her voice was monotonous and low, entirely disimpassioned in its tone. And yet, her words rung menacingly in your ear with a ghastly persistence, an impervious haze that clouded your mind and filled you with an unearthly sense of pure horror.
