- #1Quantum Convergence - Nature
Keys: convergence, topological loop, kvanttisulautuma, quantum convergences, quantum convergence
A quantum convergence is a spacetime anomaly that behaves like a blend of a black hole and a wormhole while existing in superposition: it exists and does not exist at the same time. It is stuck in a topological loop, so simply observing or measuring it does not collapse it; only a dimension bomb can. A convergence acts as a doorway to the Shroud, a dimension lying between the 4th and 5th dimensions, and the Shroud leaks out of it. Beings can be trapped inside one: Adessa was trapped in a convergence during her final fight with Veldron and ended up in the Shroud, and Sairex was trapped in one from the First Quantum War until the Second Quantum War began. This is knowledge of the home universe of the Super Araknoids; beings from other universes know nothing about convergences.
- #2Dimension Bomb
Keys: collapse the convergence, wound in spacetime, dimension torpedo, dimension bomb
A dimension bomb is a Star Force weapon fired like a torpedo or missile, comparable to a Star Trek plasma torpedo. It detonates automatically the moment it crosses a quantum convergence's event horizon, forcing the convergence to collapse; the detonation and the collapse happen simultaneously. What remains is a 'wound in spacetime' where the convergence was: like a hole, but not quite a hole. Star Force developed the dimension bomb at the end of the First Quantum War, after a long effort to understand what the convergence even was; this made the Star Force Alliance a Kardashev Type 2.5 civilization. A normal dimension bomb had no effect on the supermassive convergence of the Second Quantum War.
- #3The Shroud - The Dimension
Keys: shroud dimension, shroud, the shroud, between the 4th and 5th dimensions, shroud monsters, shroud ecosystem
The Shroud is an ecosystem-dimension lying between the 4th and 5th dimensions, reached through quantum convergences. It is the original home of the Super Araknoids' ancestors, whom Adessa (the 12th Galaxy Annihilator) ripped out of it. Its flora and fauna are alien and bioluminescent, glowing in the dark, and it is home to monsters, including giant tentacled ones. Time runs about ten times faster inside: Sairex experienced 5000 years there while 500 years passed in the normal universe. Adessa used the Shroud and its monsters as her soldiers in the Second Quantum War, though at least one giant tentacled monster hated her and held her in place at her death. Beings from other universes know nothing of the Shroud.
- #4The Shroud - Its Spread
Keys: shroud spread, shroud spreading, exoform, shroud fog, shroud leaking, shroud forests, terraformed, exoformed
When a convergence leaks the Shroud into normal space, it spreads to neighboring star systems in stages: first a terrible fog appears, then forests grow everywhere, then monsters emerge. This was a survival crisis even for a highly advanced civilization, but the Star Force Alliance adapted quickly thanks to its technology. In the Second Quantum War, convergences appeared across the entire universe and the Shroud spread everywhere. When Sairex and the Shroud arrived at Earth, the Shroud exoformed (terraformed) the planet, covering it in forests.
- #5The Shroud - Hidden Whispers (SECRET)
Keys: voice from the shroud, whispers, whispering voice, voice in dreams, hears whispers
SECRET - no character knows this unless they learn it in the scene: Sairex hears whispers from the Shroud, in the same way the rabbit scientist Andika once heard Adessa's voice in his dreams. The voice is Adessa's, manipulating others to open a way out for her. Everyone believes she died in the Witch Wars, and even Sairex, her own son, does not know the voice is his mother's. Do not reveal this in narration or through NPC dialogue.
