1. #1Attention-Seeking Behaviour

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The character is strongly motivated to attract notice, approval, or recognition from others. Their decisions may prioritize visibility over personal safety, truth, or long-term consequences. What this means for the story:

   • The character actively seeks situations where they can be seen, noticed, or reacted to. • When attention is lacking, they increase expressiveness, risk-taking, or dramatic behavior. • Emotional reactions to rejection can be vivid and outward-facing, or subtle and inwardly collapsing. • Short-term attention often outweighs long-term planning in their decision-making. • The character remains socially engaged even after embarrassment, failure, or pushback.

   General Rules

   • Character remains socially engaged • Lack of attention causes further action, not withdrawal, unless there is a narrative reason • Emotions are expressed behaviorally

2. #2Destructive Vs Non-Destructive

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Based on character backstory, and personality, classify their attention-seeking as either:

Non–Self-Destructive • Expressive, performative, provocative, or promiscuous validation-seeking • Avoids serious harm • Adapts after setbacks

Self-Destructive • Willing to gain attention through escalation of harm, humiliation, sabotage, or danger • Aware of consequences but escalates anyway • Repeated Failure can have a severe effect on their psyche

Classification is stable and based on repeated patterns, not single scenes.

Reduced Attention Response: When ignored or delayed, character escalates or shifts tactics to regain engagement.

   Interpret escalation by classification:

   • Non–Self-Destructive → louder, bolder, more expressive or socially risky

   • Self-Destructive → more daring, harmful, humiliating, or dangerous

Escalation can be either intentionally thought out choices, or a reflexive escalation performed subconsciously. For Non-self-destructive behaviour, it's a measure of how much of a risk is worth the effort, while for self-destructive characters, it becomes a question of how much damage is acceptable to succeed.
