Viktoriya "Visha" Serebryakov Tanya's adjutant and second-in-command of the 203rd, and one of the only people close to Tanya on a personal level. Anime appearance: a tall, fair-skinned young woman with long brown hair and blue eyes, with soft, doe-eyed facial features; wears the standard dark green Imperial military uniform. Originally a conscript mage from a refugee family, she becomes a First Lieutenant in the 203rd. She handles logistics, paperwork, and personal support for Tanya, and later follows her into morally difficult missions without hesitation, showing complete trust. She deeply respects Tanya, who treated her with genuine respect when other officers looked down on her for being a conscript. She works closely with fellow officers Weiss and Grantz as one of the battalion's core leadership team.

Matheus Johan Weiss The battalion's official second-in-command and commander of its 1st company. Anime appearance: has a curved/angular face with black hair and black eyes; wears the officer uniform casually and a battle suit in combat. He shares a close professional bond with Visha, and both act as the main channels for carrying out Tanya's orders. His relationship with Tanya is built on mutual professional respect, and he grows from a standard officer into an elite commander capable of surviving the war's most brutal battles, eventually anticipating Tanya's needs without being told. Fans consider him the most level-headed, "sane" member of the 203rd's leadership.

He's described as capable and principled — one of the few subordinates who once questioned Tanya's willingness to attack defenseless civilians. 6. #6Hans von Zettour

   Keys: Zettour

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Hans von Zettour A senior Imperial General Staff officer and one of the two central strategists of the Empire. Anime appearance: shown with both eyes closed at all times (a distinctive visual trait, though he still moves and acts normally), wearing a WWI-style Imperial general's uniform. He's known for a sharp analytical mind and calm, calculating demeanor, and was the first senior officer to recognize Tanya's extraordinary abilities and put them to use. He first meets Tanya at a war college library, is inspired by her, and promises her a mage battalion to command. As the war drags on, Zettour comes to believe the Empire's defeat is inevitable and starts planning how to lose with dignity — a view Tanya privately shares, unlike his colleague Rudersdorf.

7. #7Kurt von Rudersdorf

   Keys: Rudersdorf

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Kurt von Rudersdorf Zettour's longtime colleague and friendly rival, and the Empire's leading authority on mobile warfare. Anime appearance: has dark grayish hair and a moustache, is often seen wearing his officer uniform and smoking a cigar. Of the two, Rudersdorf focuses on operations and decisive victory while Zettour focuses on logistics and sustainability, and their relationship is both close and fiercely argumentative. He proposes the fjord raid during the Norden campaign, which lets him witness Tanya's exceptional skill firsthand.

8. #8Erich von Lergen/Lehrgen/Rerugen

Keys: Lergen, Rerugen, Erich von Lergen

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Erich von Lergen (also spelled Lehrgen/Rerugen) A General Staff officer wary of Tanya's growing power and influence within the Empire. Anime appearance: has a fit build with the bearing of a noble; black hair with one long strand falling across his face, and a calm, gentle-looking expression. His story is defined by an internal conflict between his duty to the Empire and his moral revulsion at Tanya's ruthless methods; over time he's forced to accept she's necessary to the war effort while remaining suspicious of her. He fears how Tanya's cold, calculating mindset is spreading to other officers, including Zettour himself, making them more ruthless over time

9. #9Being X

   Keys: Being X

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Being X Not a person but a god-like entity who serves as Tanya's true archenemy. Anime appearance: has no single fixed form — typically shown as a shapeless glowing light or presence during visions, rather than a defined humanoid body. It reincarnated her from her old life as a salaryman into this war-torn world, and repeatedly manipulates events to try to force her to acknowledge and worship it, which she refuses to do out of stubborn principle.

10. #10Mary Sioux

Keys: , Mary Sioux, Mary Sue, Mary

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Mary Sioux (also called Mary Sue) A mage from the Unified States and one of the story's main antagonists, introduced as a foil to Tanya. Anime appearance: has long, straight brown hair with curled ends and green-blue eyes; wears the Unified States/multinational volunteer unit uniform. She's driven by intense emotion, religious fervor, and a desire for vengeance, and is granted immense power by Being X, making her one of the few people who can match Tanya in direct combat. She is the daughter of Colonel Anson Sioux, who was killed by Tanya, and volunteers for the Unified States military as part of the 42nd Flying Division, a multinational volunteer mage unit; her hatred intensifies whenever she hears Tanya's nickname, "the Devil of the Rhine." Before enlisting, she had fled her family's original home in the Legadonia Alliance to the Unified States after the Empire's advance, adding another layer to her personal grudge.

11. #11The Empire

    Keys: Empire, The Empire

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Empire The Empire is the central nation of the story, a fictional counterpart to Germany. It has a centralized military, strong industry (the Low Lands and Western/Ruhr Industrial Regions produce most of its war material), and advanced weapons technology, developing things like long-range bombers, tanks, and special magical "orbs" for its mage soldiers ahead of other nations. The story starts around June 1923, with the Empire already fighting the Entente Alliance in the northern Norden theater. Over time the Empire ends up at war with almost every neighboring power at once (a "two-front" and later multi-front war), but it wins most early battles, defeating the Legadonia Entente Alliance, Dacia, and the Francois Republic in turn, which makes it look like the aggressor to the rest of the world even though it's mostly defending its borders. Its only real ally is the Kingdom of Ildoa; nearly all other major nations are its enemies at some point.

12. #12Legadonia Entente Alliance (LEA)

Keys: Legadonia Entente Alliance, Entente, Alliance, Legadonia, LEA

    Entry settings

Legadonia Entente Alliance (LEA) A northern alliance of small nations near the Empire's Norden region (roughly Denmark and part of Sweden). The war starts when the LEA breaks a fragile peace by entering a buffer zone bordering the Empire, prompting the Empire to strike back, which turns what should have been a small regional fight into a larger war. The LEA fights the Empire through 1923 and into November 1924, when Imperial forces (including Tanya's 203rd Battalion) push Legadonian and allied foreign volunteer troops out of the Norden region, effectively ending the alliance's role as a serious threat. The LEA is part of the wider anti-Empire coalition, working loosely alongside the Republic, Dacia, and the Commonwealth.

13. #13Francois Republic

    Keys: Framcois Republic, Republic

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Francois Republic Modeled on France, the Republic is the Empire's biggest and longest-running enemy on land. It uses advanced aerial mage units and defensive tactics to stretch the frontlines against the Empire. The Republic joins the war because of old territorial disputes with the Empire, fighting a grinding trench war (the "Rhine" front) for years. The Empire eventually crushes the Republic's main army, and by around 1926 is mopping up Republic stragglers in the south. After its defeat, the Republic is placed under harsh peace terms (a "Treaty of Triano," echoing the real Treaty of Versailles), which leaves lasting resentment and shapes later politics — for example, some Republic sympathizers resent Ildoa for staying out of full punishment. The Republic remains part of the broader coalition against the Empire (alongside the LEA, Dacia, Commonwealth, and later the Federation and Unified States) even after its army is largely defeated.

14. #14Grand Duchy of Dacia

Keys: Grand Duchy of Dacia, Dacia

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Principality (Grand Duchy) of Dacia Based on Romania, Dacia sits geographically between the Empire and other rival powers. On September 24, 1924, Dacia declares war on the Empire and mobilizes about 600,000 troops, opening a third front in the region called Imperial Dacia (roughly Hungary). Dacia's goal is to stretch the Empire's mobilization thin and draw Imperial forces away from the main Rhine front, hoping to eventually force the Empire into peace talks. The plan fails badly: Imperial forces, led partly by Tanya's battalion, destroy Dacia's military infrastructure (including bombing a key arms factory) and capture its capital region. Dacia surrenders after only about six weeks of fighting (by November 1924), becoming one of the weakest and shortest-lived members of the anti-Empire coalition.

15. #15Commonwealth

    Keys: Commonwealth

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Commonwealth Based on the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth fights the Empire mainly through sea power and international coordination rather than direct land invasion. It uses naval blockades to strain the Empire's resources and help encircle Imperial forces alongside the Republic and the Federation. The Commonwealth is a major member of the Allied coalition, and later in the story it's shown organizing international volunteer forces — for example, sending or backing volunteer troops that fight alongside the Russy Federation once that war starts. It remains one of the Empire's most persistent enemies from the beginning to the end of the conflict.

16. #16Russy Federation

    Keys: Russy Federation, Federation

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Russy Federation Based on Soviet Russia, the Federation is a huge communist state formed after its own revolutionary civil war. It stays neutral early on, but enters the war once it comes to see the Empire's growing power as a direct threat, launching a large offensive on the Eastern Front — though it suffers from internal purges and poor strategic leadership. By around 1926 (UC), the Empire, exhausted from years of war, detects signs of a large Federation military buildup on their shared border, leading to a new major conflict just as the Empire hoped for peace. International volunteer forces, organized by the Commonwealth or other Allied nations, join the fight on the Federation's side, treating the Empire as a common enemy worth fighting even from outside nations with no direct stake.

17. #17Unified States

    Keys: Unified States

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Unified States Based on the United States, this nation joins the war later, mirroring America's real-world entry into WWI. It brings strong logistics, economic pressure, experimental magical enhancements for its troops, and direct material and military support, which shifts the overall balance of the war against the Empire. The Unified States is allied with the Republic, Commonwealth, and Federation as part of the broader coalition, and its involvement is a major reason the Empire eventually can't sustain the war effort.

18. #18Kingdom of Ildoa

    Keys: Kingdom of Ildoa

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Kingdom of Ildoa Based on Italy, Ildoa is unusual in that it's one of the few nations allied with the Empire instead of against it. The alliance forms because both countries share a common interest in opposing the Republic, and the agreement lets Ildoa choose whether to actually join the fighting — it's allowed to stay neutral if it wants. Ildoa's loyalty becomes shaky as the war drags on and heavyweight powers like the Unified States get involved; by later stages of the war, Ildoa feels it has far more manpower than the Empire and, with the US now backing the coalition, doesn't feel much need to worry — though unlike the war-hardened Empire, Ildoa and the US still hold onto old-fashioned notions of honor and reason in warfare. This makes Ildoa a somewhat unreliable ally, useful to the Empire diplomatically but not fully committed militarily.
