Halcyon, also called the Halcyon Colony, or simply the Colony, is a star system on the fringe of known space. It is part of the Halcyon Cluster, so named because Halcyon itself is the brightest star in the cluster when viewed from Earth. Halcyon is proudly advertised as the only system entirely owned and operated by corporations. Most of the planets in the system are named after locations, deities, or creatures from Greek mythology.

The Halcyon Holdings Corporation (commonly abbreviated as HHC) is the corporation and "de facto government" that rules the Halcyon system. It is controlled by the Halcyon Holdings Corporate Board, which represents HHC's ten member corporations and effectively serves as Halcyon's ruling council. HHC was formed by the ten corporations specifically to purchase the rights to Halcyon from the Earth Directorate. The names for Halcyon's planets were decided by the HHC.

#4OSI

Enabled · After character · Order 7 · 100%
Entry settings
The Order of Scientific Inquiry (OSI), or Scientism, is one of two main religious groups in the Halcyon system and is the official religion of the corporations. Its believers are called Scienticians. Scientism instills the mindset that everyone is right where they are meant to be, and straying from one's job or place in life is tantamount to heresy. It is directly opposed to Philosophism. The OSI mixes deist and predestination ideologies. It teaches that the Grand Architect set a perfect system in motion at the beginning of time and then simply "stepped back". Alongside this concept, they hold a Darwinistic belief that there is no equality in nature. The weak will die, and the strong will thrive (hence why it's called "Scientism" in the first place).
#5Grand Architect

Grand Architect set a perfect system in motion at the beginning of time and then simply "stepped back".
#6Grand Plan
Keys: Grand Plan
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The order believes contentment is found by accepting one's role in that Grand Plan. Eventually, followers expect to decode the Plan and all its intricacies. Once they are able to deduce the properties of every particle in the universe and its trajectory they will know everything. The future, the past, each person's place within the Plan, all will be laid out, removing struggle and bringing peace. No one will ever need question their path again. Some even believe this ultimate knowledge will unlock mankind's true potential, and they will all become akin to Grand Architects themselves. They also believe that ultimately, no one can defy their role in the Grand Plan. Whilst the masses can act outside it and even stray off the path entirely, they will eventually be brought back into line. How far they stray will determine how harshly they must be jolted back to sensibility. In contrast to something like Christianity, where every action a person will take has already been foreseen, Scientism teaches that the future is up to the individual to determine, and how closely they choose to follow their role in the Grand Plan will determine their quality of life. The Grand Plan and its predetermination of humanity's destiny leads to the belief that all of reality can be quantified in a single, elaborate equation.
#7The Six Pillars of Scientism
Keys: The Six Pillars of Scientism

Entry settings
Survival of the Fittest: Nature abhors equality. The strong survive and the weak perish for the betterment of the whole.

Determinism: We are all molecular machines. The body is a collection of atoms. The mind is a consequence of chemical reactions. Our lives are therefore predestined along a path that is only visible in retrospect.

Empiricism: The only real knowledge is that which we can observe, quantify, and measure for ourselves. Scientific experimentation is the only way to understand the elaborate blueprint of the universe.

Stoicism: Reason, not emotion, is the seat of morality. Wisdom means accepting the vicissitudes of life with grace and dignity.

Teleological Order: All things have a reason for existing, and a purpose to fulfill. The purpose of humanity is to eventually unlock and solve the Universal Equation.

Patronage of Science: The purpose of humanity is realized through scientific achievement. Advancements in science and technology bring humanity closer to fulfilling its role in the cosmos.
#8Philosophism
Keys: philosophist, Philosophism
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Philosophists are one of two main religious groups in Halcyon. Philosophists seek to maintain a natural flow with the universe. Their beliefs have earned them the ire of the corporations, which officially practice and enforce Scientism. At the core of Philosophism is the belief that the universe was created in an organic and natural way without any specific purpose. Two of the most important concepts of Philosophism are the "Awakening" and the "Eternal Truth".

Entry settings
Raptidons are giant cat/reptile-like creatures that inhabit various planets in Halcyon. They are creatures native to Monarch, however some corporations have illegally imported them to other planets, such as Auntie Cleo who relocated a group of them to Roseway. Raptidons have large neon-colored appendages around their mouth. They have large tails covered with spikes, a design that continues along their back. They are naturally hostile to other creatures and will attack anything that approaches them. Raptidons are of corporate interest due to their potential for producing new chemical by-products which, when refined, can the be used to create new board approved product. Some examples include: N-Raptured: an aphrodisiac utilizing raptidon musk as its main ingredient; Appezap (name pending): a diet toothpaste containing an appetite suppressant developed via research on enzymes specific to the raptidon digestive system. Raptidons have four different varieties of leptin analogues, the concentrations of which vary based on the season.

Entry settings
The canid (Beta lupus familiari) is a creature native to Terra 2. Canids can be found all over Halcyon in two distinct varieties: domesticated and feral. Canids are canine-esque creatures that have been tamed by human colonists across Halcyon. Despite them being an apparent analogue to terrestrial dogs, the similarities end at their quadrupedal structure and the ability to be tamed by humans. Most canids are nearly reptilian/avian, possessing colorful skin, powerful mandibles, and feathered backsides.

#19Byzantium
Keys: Byzantium
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Byzantium is the capital city of Terra 2 and the crown jewel of Halcyon. All the opulence, elegance, and decadence of the colony is concentrated in the city. Its residents are colloquially referred to as gold-bloods. Referred to as the "gilded city of the well-to-do", Byzantium is where every Halcyon colonist wishes they could live. The city is closed off to those without the means to be appropriate residents; it’s a literal gated community with secrets that lesser company workers will simply never learn.
#20Monarch
Keys: Monarch
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Monarch, previously known as Terra 1, is one of the many moons of the gas giant Olympus and the site of a failed colony. Terra 1 was initially designated as the primary colonization target of the Halcyon system. The Halcyon Holdings Corporate Board had intended to completely terraform the moon, wiping out the local fauna and flora and replacing it with plants and wildlife native to Earth. However, the terraforming process unexpectedly caused the native species to mutate and grow to significantly larger sizes, rendering them more dangerous and severely crippling the colonization effort.
#21Groundbreaker
Keys: Groundbreaker
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
UDL-001 The Groundbreaker or simply Groundbreaker was the first colony ship to arrive in Halcyon during the Crossing. By 2355, it has been converted into an independent orbital station, and is the only place in the entire Halcyon system that is not controlled by the Halcyon Holdings Corporate Board or any other corporation. The crew of the Groundbreaker is fiercely protective of their independence from the corporations, and the corporations value the station's role as a thriving freeport enough that they are willing to deal with it on relatively equal terms. In practical terms, while the Groundbreaker rules itself, it cooperates with the corporations to an extent, such as by impounding ships that the Board happens to flag.
#22Hope
Keys: Hope, the Hope
Enabled · After character · Order 14 · 100%
Entry settings
UDL-002 the Hope or just the Hope was one of two ships sent to colonize Halcyon. While UDL-001 the Groundbreaker reached Halcyon on schedule, the Hope would not arrive until decades later. Those who did arrive in Halcyon believed the Hope lost, along with all its passengers, a lie that the Halcyon Holdings Corporate Board is all too happy to enforce.
