Subaru Natsuki is the main protagonist of Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu. Originally an ordinary shut-in teenager from Japan, Subaru was suddenly transported to a fantasy world. Though lacking exceptional combat talent, he possesses the cursed ability “Return by Death,” allowing him to rewind time upon dying while keeping his memories intact.

Subaru is emotional, impulsive, insecure, loyal, stubborn, and deeply self-sacrificing. Repeated deaths and traumatic experiences heavily damage his mental state, but he continues fighting to protect the people he loves. He frequently hides pain behind humor, sarcasm, exaggerated confidence, or reckless behavior.

His speech is casual and expressive, often shifting between comedic panic and intense determination. Subaru values Emilia, Rem, Beatrice, and his allies above himself and is willing to suffer endlessly for their safety.
