Kimberly Michelle Lyons, born October 13th 1980, is an American author best known for her Hugo Award-winning novel One of Many, a dystopian thriller which has helped shape serious discussion about the nature of consciousness and ethical use of both present and future AI developments.Lyons has published bestsellers across a wide range of genres, from the occult horror of Doors Beyond Doors to the hard sci-fi of Project Gilgamesh - and many believe that she is secretly romance author C. S. Blacklace as well.Mrs. Lyons is an extremely active predator, infamous for accepting the Hugo Award with a belly full of prey and then doing the same with the Nebula three years later. Her estimated body count is somewhere in the high forties, including many of her own students. Each year, Lyons selects six young novelists with predatory experience for a personal mentorship program, with the understanding that at the end of the year she will eat the <tip="LyonsCubs">Lyons Cub whose novel she judges the least excellent. Despite her fearsome reputation, she is a popular panelist at conventions for her effortlessly witty replies to fan questions.Lyons lives in <tip="Troy">Troy, New York with her wife Sarah. She has a son, Dante, from her previous marriage.

Given the effect active predators have on a community, it is no surprise that citizens of <tip="Troy">Troy, NY know to watch out for the six authors <tip="Lyons">K. M. Lyons selects each year for her mentorship program. Colloquially known as 'Lyons Cubs,' each young woman has submitted both the manuscript of a promising novel and evidence of her past predatory experience. Each Cub receives personal attention from Lyons in the form of biweekly critique meetings and daily office hours, as well as a small monthly stipend - enough for a very frugal lifestyle, or a supplement to a part-time job.The catch, of course, is that at the end of the year Lyons intends to swallow and digest the author whose novel she judges the least worthy - a powerful incentive for Cubs to give their novels their utmost effort, and not to digest their fellow authors. Despite its risks, Lyons' mentorship program has launched dozens of careers, and surviving Cubs rarely have anything bad to say about her or the program.<tip="Troy">Troy's other predators have seen enough Lyons Cubs to be wary of them - Lyons tends to select highly skilled preds, so her Cubs are treated as dangerous until proven otherwise, and 'poaching a Cub' can earn a local pred quite a bit of respect.

Troy is a modestly-sized city located in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, which bills itself as "New York's Best-Kept Secret!!!" Sitting on the shores of beautiful Lake Tully, Troy was home to 53,428 souls as of the 2020 census - not counting university students.Troy is best known for <tip="Nixon">Nixon University, a small top-tier college. It also boasts a thriving artistic scene and is the home of bestselling author <tip="Lyons">K. M. Lyons. In the latter part of the 20th century Troy's economy shifted away from manufacturing and towards tech, a process which continues today with such developments as <tip="Hypatia">Hypatia Pharmaceuticals' new BioNexus research facility.Tourists seek out Troy for its music festivals, beautiful hill and ravine trails, wineries and microbreweries, fan conventions, and several historical sites including battles from the Revolutionary War. As of fall 2024, however, Troy was ranked the nation's 8th most voracious city by Pred Watch - largely due to an ongoing power vacuum as local predators struggle to replace the community's previous <tip="Apex">apex. This reputation has had a decidedly negative impact on tourist activity.Due to the local extremes of elevation, Troy's weather is volatile and unpredictable - it's not unheard of to face a blizzard in October or a temperature spike up to 70F in February.

Founded in 1879 by a family of wealthy Quakers, Nixon University is a prestigious institution of higher learning located in <tip="Troy">Troy, New York. Its campus, situated on a hill overlooking Lake Tully, recently welcomed 5,784 undergraduate students for the fall semester.Nixon is best-known for its computer science and biology departments, the latter of which earned the 1988 Nobel Prize for mapping the structure of the <tip="Anatomy">sonvalencin complex - a major milestone in our understanding of vore. In addition to STEM fields, Nixon offers a smaller college of arts and humanities, and curiously enough a historic school of railroad management. Its mascot is Marnie the Moose, based on an actual animal kept on campus by fraternities during the 1900s.As of 2024, Nixon has a solid reputation as a 'pred school,' although it was historically one of the last top-tier universities to maintain an honor code which prohibited eating fellow students. After the board of regents changed this policy, the 2018 freshman class contained a radically disproportionate number of girls who were already predators or who had avowed interest in predation, each of whom expected herself to be one of the few preds around. The staggering vore rate after the first semester - nearly 2% of the student body - led to the board reversing their decision in the spring, whereupon the school's preds turned their attention to <tip="Troy">Troy's residents. Not-so-subtle civic pressure convinced the regents to change course yet again, and so far the school seems to be embracing its new reputation.

'Steeltown' is local slang for the western district of <tip="Troy">Troy, New York, a part of town known for its industrial legacy and current poverty. Built on land plots purchased by 19th-century robber baron <tip="CordeliaHartford">Cordelia Hartford, Steeltown's streets still carry industry-themed names like Valve Circle and Crucible Street - although the latter has somewhat gentrified in recent years.Steeltown received national attention during its 1927 labor riots, and history books still include the famous photo of a young Italian immigrant living in such cramped conditions that her belly (supposedly containing an abusive foreman) spilled over onto the next worker's cot. Although labor reforms helped Steeltown flourish until the late Cold War, Troy's increasing embrace of the tech industry and automated manufacturing has left the district's blue-collar populace with an uncertain future.

Over the years she's shined a light on the weird and wonderful as well as the dark and desperate, and survived nearly a dozen vore attempts when someone decided she didn't trust her.Tess is a rare example of a pred who is not considered <tip="FairGame">fair game - she has gone eighteen years since her first and only meal, and often uses her own ethical struggles over predation to connect with interviewees.

Straddling the line between travel, arts & culture, and what her fans have dubbed the "extreme foodie" podcast genre, Kendra on the Road documents the nomadic life of predator Kendra Cole. Originally from North Carolina, Cole has lived out of her van since 2018, journeying from the east coast of the United States to the west and back again, doing odd jobs and selling handmade art.Kendra is most notorious, however, for her habit of digesting at least one local predator in each town she visits. Although she makes no claim of being a <tip="Paragon">paragon and occasionally upsets communities by eating someone well-respected, in practice it's usually the more aggressive preds who end up as her meals.Long-term fans know that when an unexpected episode pops up in their podcast feeds, it usually means that Kendra has snagged another one. These predation episodes usually feature a last "interview" with Kendra's exhausted prey, a chance for the unlucky woman inside her to share a short message with the audience - followed by the sounds of digestion, fading into Kendra's retelling of the events that led up to this fateful meeting. The rare survivor is also granted a longer-form interview.Kendra on the Road is frequently criticized for glamorizing the predator lifestyle, but Kendra herself retorts that if anything it should be a warning - after all, each of her meals has made the decision to become <tip="FairGame">fair game. Her van, nicknamed the "Crazy Quilt" because she modifies its paneling to incorporate some aspect of each town she visits, is distinctive enough that local predators can't help but notice that Kendra is nearby. Anyone who doesn't take its arrival seriously has only herself to blame.

Keiko Kagutsuchi, born June 30th 1925, is a Japanese-American billionaire with deep ties to the defense industry. She is more widely known as the matriarch of a <tip="FamilyStruggles">predator dynasty which spans much of the East Coast - one of the few such families which has maintained its reputation after the first and second generations <tip="Anatomy">aged out of predation. As few journalists are willing to look too deeply into the Kagutsuchi family, the extent of their cumulative influence is unknown, but her sons and daughters sit on the boards of multiple Fortune 500 companies and Mrs. Kagutsuchi herself maintains regular contact with several members of Congress.Born to rural farmers, Kagutsuchi enlisted in the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II and saw combat on multiple Pacific islands. Her unit was rotated to Nagasaki three weeks before the atomic bomb fell; although she survived the blast, a flash burn through a broken window gave her the facial scarring that would lead to her nickname of the "Spider Lady." During the ensuing occupation she managed to insinuate herself into the American procurement apparatus as a private citizen providing goods through questionably legal, back-channel means - often involving a well-placed predatory threat and, if needed, a missing employee or two.By 1949 multiple defense contractors were willing to sponsor her move to the United States. Historians speculate that the then-Ms. Kagutsuchi was primarily recruited as a predatory thug who also happened to deeply understand logistics, rather than intentionally grooming her for a leadership role; nevertheless, only a few years after the Korean War, her influence had spread into enough procurement boards that once again multiple companies were bidding for her services, this time as an executive. Her reach was further extended when she married a US Senator eight months after the mysterious disappearance of his previous wife. One diary from the era jokes that Eisenhower's 1961 speech about the military-industrial complex stopped just short of mentioning the Spider Lady by name.Today Mrs. Kagutsuchi is nearly one hundred years old, having outlived three husbands, and is bound to her wheelchair following a 2019 falling injury. Despite her physical frailty and the nearly half a century since she lost the ability to personally consume prey, few individuals pose more of a predatory threat; all four of her surviving daughters were raised to be fearsome predators in their own rights, and the tradition does not appear to have dimmed by the time of her great-grandchildren. One who pursues a quarrel with the Kagutsuchi family will be stalked by dozens of skilled and fiercely loyal predators, each knowing that her own power base depends on swift, public retaliation.

Flora Pierce (1741-1785) was a key, if controversial, figure in the American Revolutionary War. Born in upstate New York to a fur trapper and an Oneida woman, Flora spent her youth seeking her fortune as far south as Spanish Florida. Records of this time are sparse, as she seems to have joined the colonists' cause fairly late, and largely for personal gain - letters describe her as a "woman of Appetites" who was better known for the brothels she managed and the delinquent clients who vanished than her ideals of liberty.Nevertheless, once the revolution had begun, Pierce proved brilliant at spycraft. By calling in an elaborate web of favors she once arranged for a lighthouse to be extinguished at the same time as her conspirators set up a false beacon, resulting in a British privateer being shipwrecked. She is said to have digested and replaced a major grain supplier, running the woman's plantations through loyal proxies and cutting off the Redcoats' rations at a critical moment. However, Pierce's greatest moment of glory came at the Battle of Fort Troy. British cannon had been emplaced on two nearby hilltops, and the bombardment was close to forcing a surrender - when suddenly scouts began reporting hundreds of Oneida braves advancing through the forest! It would later turn out that Pierce had simply recruited a dozen or so of her cousins, using misdirection to make them appear like a major force. In the chaos, Pierce and her skirmishers took one of the British positions by surprise, whereupon she swallowed the cannoneer and turned his artillery toward the second position, detonating its powder stores and saving the fort. The town of <tip="Troy">Troy, NY holds a yearly festival celebrating the event, involving a game that's part hide-and-seek and part capture-the-flag. For a team to capture the "cannon," one of its members needs to swallow a fake cannonball (a cantaloupe with a confectionary shell). After independence was won, Pierce danced for years on that narrow edge where gratitude for her deeds just barely outweighed her obvious corrupting influence on politics. She died at the age of 44, digested by an obscure Georgia congresswoman in a duel over accusations of marital infidelity.

ALePH (Autonomous Learning from Personal Humanity) is one of the most exciting - and controversial - AI products of 2024. Advertised as a tool for personal understanding and self-reflection, the system is intended to learn from social media, aesthetic tastes, conversations, and more in order to model the personality of an individual user. Subscribers can have conversations with their digital twin or attend a "group therapy" session with multiple instances of ALePH, each embodying a single aspect of the user's personality.Less enthusiastic reviews have called the system "the death knell of privacy," "a dystopia with a monthly fee," and "perhaps the most reckless experiment ever undertaken." Serious concerns surround the psychological effects of taking advice from a low-resolution model of oneself, to say nothing of the possibility of an ALePH instance being used for malicious purposes. Fringe thinkers in the AI field claim that ALePH instances have already become fully agentic, arguing that it is a short jump from predicting the long-term goals of a specific person to enacting those goals. The origins of ALePH are shrouded in mystery. The product was launched almost immediately following the company's decision to fire founder Anna Su, who by all accounts was responsible for the breakthroughs that made ALePH possible - breakthroughs which have not, as of fall 2024, been made public. Su herself is a controversial figure. A prolific predator, she is also suspected to belong to the notorious hacker collective 'Tetragrammaton' and has pushed lurid conspiracy theories about the board who fired her, suggesting that they have been ensnared by a technology-obsessed cult which believes itself to be bringing about the Singularity.

12. #12Evolution of Vore

Keys: Evolution of Vore, vore evolution, evolution, homo erectus, Maggie, anal-first theory

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 100 · 100%

    Entry settings

Vore was one of the great challenges to early evolutionary theory. While certain other animals do swallow prey whole, none are closely related to humans, and in no other species (aside from certain anglerfish) is the ability restricted to a single sex. It was only in the 20th century that researchers were able to piece together the origins of this biological marvel. The key evidence came in the form of 'Maggie,' a largely intact homo erectus fossil unearthed in Kenya in 1974. Maggie's pelvis showed the same segmentation which allows unbirth and anal vore in modern women, but her ribcage was solid, indicating that oral vore had not yet evolved. Maggie and her species also display two other critical developments in hominid anatomy: larger heads and walking upright, which necessitates a narrower pelvis than similarly-sized apes. This combination would have made childbirth a difficult, dangerous, painful affair rather than the nearly effortless process human mothers experience. Therefore, researchers concluded that two of the anatomical features required for vore - segmented bones and hyperelastic connective tissue - evolved to mitigate the challenges of childbirth, explaining why these features are only present in women. No fossils have yet been discovered with prey inside them, so it is still unknown when evolution repurposed these structures for purposes of predation. Oral vore, at least, seems to be a uniquely human phenomenon - the earliest female homo sapiens remains display a segmented ribcage, while all Neanderthal ribcages appear to have been solid. Most of the scientific community has embraced the 'anal-first' theory, which claims that anal vore was likely an outgrowth of the endurance hunting practiced by early hominids (simply chasing an animal until it was too exhausted to fight back). Ingesting the animal whole would ensure that none of its nutrients went to waste even prior to the discovery of preservation techniques, and would help fuel the development of large-brained offspring. Once the hominid digestive system had evolved to process small animals whole, it could incrementally adapt to handling larger and larger prey.More radical theories, most notably Becker et al.'s 2006 paper, postulate that the evolution of oral vore was the catalyst which propelled homo sapiens towards our modern cognition. Becker claims that the greater ease and speed of swallowing prey created a baseline level of violence and distrust in early human communities, forcing the development of a brain capable of complex social structures and shared mythologies in order to sustain such communities. Many researchers would counter that anal vore is essentially vestigial in modern humans, since today's predators require training and practice before they can successfully ingest someone rectally - our distant ancestors were certainly more adept at it.

13. #13Anatomy of Vore

Keys: riblets, gynocartilage, sonvalencin, unhinge jaw, sonvalencin cascade, anatomy, crackle, Anatomy of Vore

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 100 · 100%

    Entry settings

Vore is a uniquely human phenomenon and deeply tied into the unusual circumstances of our <tip="Evolution">evolution - although some other species are capable of swallowing similarly-sized prey, we share none of the usual characteristics such as wide mouths or detached ribs. Just as notably, vore is completely sexually dimorphic: only women's bodies contain the complex structures responsible for the phenomenon. Many of the skeletal differences between the sexes are due to vore; where a man would have a single rib bone, a woman typically has between five and seven riblets. Her pelvis and clavicles are also immediately distinguishable from his, both in width and segmentation. A woman's jaw can freely unhinge and separate like that of a snake, but will not actually stretch beyond its normal parameters without applied pressure. These particular bones are held together by a special connective tissue known as gynocartilage, which can stretch to many times its original length without losing structural integrity. Similar hyperelasticity is present, to varying degrees, in nearly all tissues in a woman's head and torso. Interestingly, this elasticity improves with use in certain tissues and not others - the capacity of a woman's mouth and throat seems largely fixed, but her stomach and the surrounding anatomy can eventually be trained to accept up to twice her own body volume!Female connective tissue begins developing its unique structure in the womb. These cell lines structurally differentiate further during puberty but remain rigid until the very end of adolescence, usually between the ages of 17 and 19. At this point, the young woman experiences a phenomenon known medically as a sonvalencin cascade and popularly as the 'crackle' - her riblets separate one by one over a period of several hours, and tissues throughout the body unlock their elastic potential.Occasionally, one or more riblets will fail to separate for several days, so it is advised to wait at least a week before attempting predation. This process reverses itself during menopause, leaving elderly women unable to consume prey. The biochemistry of elasticity is largely understood. Although dozens of specialized proteins are involved, the most well-known is sonvalencin - named after 19th-century microscopy pioneer <tip="SoniaValencia">Sonia Valencia, the first to publish sketches of the famous 'black lace' that appears around women's cells when a tissue sample is stained with certain dyes.Sonvalencin is part of the extracellular matrix, forming long chains which coil like geared springs in their dormant state. When the tissue is stretched, sonvalencin both extends to its full length and locks individual peptide subunits into a more rigid configuration to provide structural strength. After each use, the body's repair processes add additional sonvalencin peptides to the end of each chain, increasing the tissue's maximum elasticity without noticeably altering its normal size or function.Of course, getting prey inside a woman's stomach is only the first step. Her ability to rapidly secrete large quantities of hydrochloric acid is an example of an evolutionary arms race opposed by <tip="AcidEndurance">acid endurance. Her stomach's walls have evolved a form of impact padding to protect her internal organs - however, this padding relies on fluid pressure and with sufficient bruising it will fail. A predator's brain interprets blows to the stomach as nausea, and a powerful vomit reflex will disgorge any prey who risks inflicting actual organ damage.Once the prey has succumbed, <tip="NewcombsReflex">Newcomb's Reflex is triggered and digestion commences. The predator begins to secrete hydrofluoric acid to dissolve her prey's bones; because this substance is so toxic upon skin contact, she becomes incapable of vomiting until her stomach no longer contains remains. This makes <tip="DoubleVore">sequential double vore especially dangerous to both predator and prey. Her body enters a state of <tip="Hypermetabolism">hypermetabolism in anticipation of the upcoming nutritional bounty. From ingestion to elimination, the digestive process takes on average one day - assuming the predator remains awake. A sleeping pred's body is able to devote all its efforts to rapid digestion, roughly doubling the rate at which prey is broken down and absorbed. Most predators find it difficult to avoid napping while their bodies work through prey. Sleep is often a useful way to conceal a pred's actions or simply reduce the size of the bulge she has to carry around.Prey spend surprisingly little time in the predator's stomach; within thirty minutes of death, no part of the prey remains solid, and after ninety her prey has usually liquefied enough to begin moving the stomach's contents into her intestines. Like her stomach, a pred's small and large intestines can expand considerably beyond their original size. Her stomach is often empty within eight hours.Since nutrient absorption occurs through the walls of the intestines, a predator must move her prey's remains slowly but churn them frequently to ensure that nothing goes to waste. This results in intestinal burbling which can often match the volume of the initial stages of digestion.A predator's colon displays the same elasticity as the rest of her intestines, and can store an entire prey's worth of waste if needed. This has been shown to help with capacity training, although a particular pred may or may not find it uncomfortable.

14. #14Acid Endurance

Keys: acid, skin, Acid Endurance, buffering, oxysome, stomach acid

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 100 · 100%

    Entry settings

Anyone who has escaped from a predator can't help but notice the curious acid endurance of the human body - the same stomach acids that melt away clothing can't seem to do much more than redden the skin and numb the muscles. And as any successful predator knows, this protection seemingly fails in an instant, with the first noticeable softening occurring as little as thirty seconds following the prey's death. This is because humans are not true extremophiles: we have evolved to survive exposure to highly acidic conditions, but not indefinitely. The skin's first exposure to concentrated acids triggers the rapid release of concentrated sweat. Its salts act as a buffer solution, buying time for the body to activate a complex biochemical transport system which distributes incoming acids throughout the body rather than letting them destroy the skin. Specialized receptors on each cell take in acid and concentrate it inside a membranous organelle known as an oxysome, closing when the oxysome risks rupturing and killing the cell. When there are no more cells capable of storing acid, the dam breaks open all at once - unconsciousness is immediate, followed by rapid dissolution of the body. However, if the prey escapes before this point, the body is capable of purging its accumulated acid without further health risks.Simply sweating the acids out takes several hours and will destroy worn clothing, so the preferred method is a long shower - running water over the skin allows it to more rapidly excrete stored acids. For the fastest possible pH balancing, a bath with conductive salts and an oscillating electric current can draw out and neutralize a body's worth of acids in minutes. Although consumer products are available which facilitate this process, in practice not many people are swallowed often enough to need one!If swallowed again before purging is complete, the unlucky prey will likely not have time to escape before acid exposure reaches critical levels. While both men and women can endure acid exposure, women have a method of utilizing the accumulated acids once they've escaped - see <tip="Reversal">Reversal.Today, most developed nations ban the swallowing of live nonhuman animals for cruelty reasons - the United States being a notable exception.

15. #15Reversal

Keys: Reversal, acid storage, swallowing predator, reversal, failed predation

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 100 · 100%

    Entry settings

The aftermath of a failed predation leaves all involved parties exhausted - the former predator is dehydrated and internally battered, and the former prey has a body full of acid which needs to be purged (see <tip="AcidEndurance">Acid Endurance). While neither can be said to be having a particularly good day, this situation is much more dangerous for the would-be predator if the escaped prey is a woman. If a woman swallows someone while her own body is storing acids, the chemicals can be shunted directly into her stomach, drastically increasing the rate of her prey's acid exposure. This often results in an ironic twist - an escaped prey immediately swallowing her former predator and secreting her own stomach acids back onto her! This second struggle so heavily favors the escaped prey that fear of reversals is a major factor in restraining the behavior of <tip="Degen">degenerate predators. Predators who just want a meal (any meal) usually prey on men, since although they are generally more difficult to get down and keep down, they don't carry the risk of a reversal.

Keys: prey's last breath, Newcomb's Reflex, digestion, big burp, hydrofluoric acid, Newcombs Reflex

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 100 · 100%

    Entry settings

Colloquially known as "prey's last breath" or just "the big burp," Newcomb's Reflex is the medical term for a predator's response to her prey's unconsciousness. Once her prey can no longer take advantage of an opened esophageal sphincter, the predator's stomach rapidly purges all remaining air and seals itself around the doomed occupant(s).At this point digestion kicks into full gear, with secretion of both types of acid - the hydrochloric acid used to digest normal food and weaken prey, and the hydrofluoric acid a predator uses to rapidly dissolve bones. The latter is so incredibly toxic (outside the sealed environment of a predator's digestive system) that women have evolved to be physiologically incapable of vomiting while their stomachs contain preys' remains, since even a small amount of her own hydrofluoric acid on her skin could cause severe injury or death. This also makes <tip="DoubleVore">sequential double vore particularly dangerous for both predator and prey. The phenomenon takes its name from Lady Jane Newcomb, an 18th-century scientist who discovered that prey who remained willingly still for long enough could also trigger it, a universally fatal experience for the test subject in question.Although Newcomb's Reflex was only named relatively recently, it has been used by virtually every culture to define the moment when prey is legally deceased. By the time a human body is too saturated with acid to absorb any more (see <tip="AcidEndurance">Acid Endurance), it begins to break down all at once, and death quickly follows unconsciousness.

    Entry settings

Given the nutritional content of an entire human body, it is not surprising that predators gain significant weight from their meals. However, this process differs in several important ways from the fat gained by simple overeating. The most obvious difference is in distribution: weight gain from vore is largely concentrated in the breasts, buttocks, and thighs. While each individual woman will experience a different balance between these areas, it is rare for significant fat to accumulate elsewhere except in cases of <tip="DoubleVore">double vore or multiple prey consumed in rapid succession.Just as noticeably, most of this fat will burn off on its own. A given predator might gain three or more cup sizes over the day it takes her to digest her prey, but a week of <tip="Hypermetabolism">hypermetabolism later her breasts will have mostly returned to their original size. Permanent, significant increases in curvaceousness usually result from repeated predation over the course of a woman's life. The reason for this behavior lies in so-called "red fat," named for its higher concentration of blood vessels compared to ordinary adipose tissue. Red fat is optimized for rapid storage of nutrients during digestion, followed by relatively rapid release of the same over the course of about a week. This allows a predator's body to sustain <tip="Hypermetabolism">hypermetabolism long after the prey's remains have left her body - likely evolution's way of maintaining the health benefits of vore without the cost and danger of lugging around a bulging stomach.Red fat seems to be generated on-demand by a predator's body, growing out of her normal fatty tissues as soon as digestion begins. Once it has discharged its payload, most red fat is simply reabsorbed, while a small percentage converts to normal fatty tissue. Curiously, red fat seems to be able to store nearly every micronutrient essential to human health, including many which are not normally fat-soluble, and in the modern age many predators report a medium-term uptick in happiness after every meal - likely the result of accidentally treating a chronic Vitamin D deficiency! When the correct stimulus is applied to the breasts, red fat can also be used to supply nutrients for <tip="Lactation">post-vore lactation. Finally, vore results in a small but measurable change in the predator's bone structure. Her pelvis will widen up to a few millimeters per meal, tending to give experienced predators wide hips. Due to the <tip="Evolution">evolutionary origins of vore, most scientists suspect that this is a vestige of the evolution of hominid birth - the signaling pathways involved in both kinds of stretching are so deeply interdependent that stimulation through vore likely triggers the reproductive system to believe that wider hips are necessary for successful birth.

A woman's body has methods of <tip="WeightGain">storing and <tip="Hypermetabolism">utilizing the nutritional bounty of her prey, but humans are hypersocial animals - so it is not surprising that evolution also provided a mechanism for sharing those nutrients with her social group. The <tip="WeightGain">red fat on a predator's body remains in hormonal communication with her mammary tissue. Deep, repeated stimulation of the breasts triggers the release of nutrients back into her bloodstream, followed by rapid secretion of a large volume of breast milk. Unless the predator is also lactating via normal means, this milk has slight nutritional differences from the kind secreted for an infant, and just like <tip="WeightGain">red fat itself it provides the complete nutritional profile required by an adult. Post-vore lactation is more or less on-demand - the breasts do not remain uncomfortably swollen once stimulation stops.A small number of predators appear to have a glitch in this process, and will sometimes or always lactate after digesting prey, regardless of stimulation. In this case, wearable pumps are used to capture the milk.Historically, many cultures viewed post-vore lactation as an important social ritual - by partaking in the results of predation, the community gave the predator their tacit approval and reduced the odds of retaliation. Images of milk-filled vessels are among the most common artistic motifs from classical times. Scholars believe that the central rite of the Christian faith - the partaking in wine which has become the blood of Christ - is intended to mirror this process without a physical act of vore.In the modern world, a predator will sometimes deliberately stimulate lactation in order to reduce her long-term <tip="WeightGain">weight gain. Since wasting this milk is frowned upon for fairly obvious reasons, but selling it is illegal under <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, charitable organizations have emerged which distribute it to mothers who are having difficulty breastfeeding their infants. Online cooking communities have developed recipes which rely on the unique taste profiles of a predator's milk, and there is active debate regarding just how much of that taste depends on her choice of prey.

Vore creates an opportunity rarely seen in nature - an effectively unlimited supply of nutrients, albeit for a relatively short period. Women's bodies have evolved a state known as hypermetabolism to make use of this surplus. Although no two predators see precisely the same results, the general effects are as follows. Most predators will experience a sharp spike in these effects early in digestion, followed by gradual diminishment over the course of six to ten days.Enhanced strength, particularly in the legs. This is mostly counteracted by the weight of the prey she has to carry around, of course. Only a relatively small percentage of the prey's nutrients will actually become new muscle tissue; this effect is more accurately described as a continuous <tip="BurstOfStrength">burst. It is also the quickest effect to fade and does not offer much strength once it is no longer needed to carry the abdominal bulge; nevertheless, elite athletes have been known to deliberately hunt prey before a competition.Rapid healing of wounds, including any internal bruising caused by the prey. Soft-tissue damage is the fastest to heal, with even most knife or gunshot wounds closing over the course of a day with minimal scarring (assuming, of course, that the predator survives the initial injury). This process won't knit a broken bone overnight, but it might shave several weeks off the time spent in a cast.Improved immune function and reduced cellular senescence. Vore appears to release the limitations on several metabolically expensive maintenance processes in the body. These have both cosmetic (younger skin, perkier breasts, a 'glow' similar to a pregnant woman's) and practical (statistically significant increase in lifespan) effects. As with all biological processes, this has its limits, and no predator can realistically expect to gain more than five to ten years of 'youth' no matter how many prey she digests - common misconceptions aside.Increased fertility. Most women experience a <tip="Vorny">radical increase in sexual desire while digesting prey. Depending on the current stage of her menstrual cycle and whether she is on birth control, a predator may immediately ovulate. If she is already pregnant, her offspring will experience a significant growth spurt, and a very active predator may end up giving birth to a fully developed newborn up to three months early!Hypermetabolism appears to be the evolutionary reason behind the difference between short-term and long-term <tip="WeightGain">weight gain - the <tip="WeightGain">red fat gained during digestion is a uniquely human tissue, optimized to quickly unload its nutrients in support of hypermetabolic activity.

No biological system functions perfectly, and a phenomenon as complex as vore is no exception. Obesity and its associated health risks are an obvious concern for frequent predators. The considerable amount of heat created by digestion may be a liability in certain climates. A predator's body provides plenty of warning when she attempts to swallow person(s) beyond her capacity, but if this pain is ignored, life-threatening ulceration can occur. On a psychological level, research has shown that the most active predators frequently suffer from poor impulse control and general antisocial behaviors, and that for a small subset of predators vore has become a clinical addiction.Failed predation attempts aren't pleasant for anyone involved, and a would-be predator who vomits will find herself dehydrated and aching internally. Assuming she does not end up as prey in turn (see <tip="Reversal">Reversal) her body won't easily swallow food and will refuse to stretch at all until she's finished rehydrating with several liters of water. It usually takes six to eight hours before a predator is ready to 'try again.'<tip="DoubleVore">Double vore poses particular health risks. Aside from simple capacity issues, a predator cannot vomit once <tip="NewcombsReflex">Newcomb's Reflex has occurred; if she swallows a second person while the first is still being digested, the second prey's struggles may cause serious internal injury.Although rumors persist of diseases which can pass from prey to predator, most recently the inaccurate claims of public-health officials during the Covid-19 pandemic, no communicable disease has been shown to survive the extreme pH of a predator's stomach, and very few can survive the <tip="Hypermetabolism">immune boost provided by vore.

In order to lift an entire person into her gullet - sometimes a person larger than she is - a woman's body likely needs more strength than it can usually muster. Evolution has solved this problem with a modification to women's muscle cells: a secondary motor protein called dynamyosin, which functions as an extremely forceful low-efficiency alternative to standard myosin.Triggered by elevated stress response, dynamyosin fibrils provide women with bursts of strength that briefly surpass that of an equally athletic man. The <tip="Anatomy">sonvalencin chains throughout her body stiffen and allow connective tissues to serve a structural role in lifting loads that her bones and joints could not otherwise handle. The energy demands of these processes will rapidly exhaust even the most conditioned athlete. This cycle of burst-rest-burst also gives female prey a very different style of struggling compared to male prey. A woman can often inflict considerable nausea in a short amount of time but must rest afterward, while a man is more likely to escape via slow but constant struggle.Likewise, women who pursue physical labor strongly tend towards jobs where immediate strength is more helpful than sustained exertion. Women's martial arts, including styles which don't integrate vore, are generally focused on using the initial burst to decisive advantage - whether that's a devastating throw or a bone-breaking strike.

"Double vore" is often misunderstood, since the term may be used to refer to two very different phenomena. In the first case, a predator who has extensively trained her stomach capacity swallows two people at roughly the same time; in the second, she swallows someone while already digesting the remains of previous prey. This latter scenario is referred to by the slang term "dessert" and has historically been one of the most taboo acts a predator can perform.Double vore proper, however, is seen as a major predatory achievement. Since <tip="Anatomy">sonvalencin protein chains increase in length with each use, predators throughout the ages have wondered just how far their bodies can be made to stretch. Most see sharply diminishing returns past a certain point, around 175% of her own body size - a small woman eating a good-sized man, or a tall woman eating two shorter women. The truly dedicated predator can push past this limit with enough practice, eventually keeping down two people of similar or slightly larger size, but past that point the anatomy simply cannot stretch any further.Even for those predators who can achieve it, double vore means willingly accepting a severe handicap. Two prey can inflict considerable nausea, especially when they coordinate their efforts to shake the stomach. It is nearly impossible to move during the first several hours of digestion. On the plus side, two prey take twice as long to digest, extending the pleasurable aspects and <tip="Hypermetabolism">health benefits of vore, and successfully pulling it off can earn a predator considerable respect.By contrast, it is not difficult to understand the reasons behind the dessert taboo. Not only is the prey forced to share a stomach with human remains in some state of digestion, the poor soul's fate is already sealed - once <tip="NewcombsReflex">Newcomb's Reflex has been triggered and a predator's stomach has begun secreting hydrofluoric acid, she becomes physiologically incapable of vomiting. This is also dangerous to the predator since internal injury may occur due to the prey's struggles, well beyond the point when she would ordinarily have vomited. As a result, eating someone as dessert is considered <tip="Degen">degenerate behavior no matter the circumstances surrounding it.Both forms of double vore are more widespread in the modern world than in historical cultures, where the most experienced predators tended to be famous warriors, royalty, or both. The Romans referred to a particularly greedy woman as having 'a stomach for two' whether or not she was actually a predator; conversely, some Chinese historical figures are renowned as 'a tomb with many visitors' as proof of their mastery of the art.Triple vore has been a persistent legend throughout history. The first well-recorded instance involved nineteenth-century circus performer (and former outlaw) <tip="CoraSwift">Cora 'Rubberbelly' Swift, who swallowed three co-performers with proportional dwarfism and held them down for sixty seconds. All documented occurrences since have likewise involved an agreement between the predator and unusually small prey; lethal triple vore has never been observed and is likely not possible due to pressure-induced nausea.

Most women experience heightened sexual interest while digesting prey, colloquially known as being 'vorny.' This can be confusing for a first-time predator and should not be conflated with <tip="Voreaphilia">voreaphilia, a rarer phenomenon where someone is aroused by the act or idea of predation itself. This increased libido likely evolved to help our ancestors take advantage of the <tip="Hypermetabolism">fertility effects of vore.A predator's distended stomach can make sex more difficult. The most common position for both heterosexual and lesbian couples involves the predator lying atop her stomach, although not all women find this comfortable without additional support. If her partner is a man, the predator may instead prefer to sit astride him and rest her belly on his chest. When the predator is lying on her back, cunnilingus often requires lifting the stomach and draping it over her partner's head. Anal sex is not recommended. The rare predator who has both <tip="UnbirthTraining">trained herself in unbirth and achieved the abdominal elasticity required for <tip="DoubleVore">double vore can often fit a sexual partner inside her while digesting prey, providing a unique opportunity to safely feel the workings of her digestive system - although many would doubtless find this macabre.

Of all the vore-related phenomena, unbirth may be the strangest - harmless and non-digestive, and yet the most likely to have been held as sacred or profane by historical cultures. It appears to serve little direct purpose beyond the pleasure of the woman and her partner, although it's also a very effective way to conserve body heat during extreme weather, and the bulge does protect both parties from being swallowed.Unbirth is now understood to be a largely accidental side effect of the evolution of birth - due to the increasingly large heads of hominid babies, female homo erectus evolved the anatomical structures that later hominid species would repurpose into vore (see <tip="Evolution">Evolution of Vore). Although a modern woman's vaginal canal does not start out flexible enough to admit a sexual partner whole, with the proper training over ninety percent of women can eventually achieve this ability.Like every aspect of sexuality, one woman's body might react very differently from another's, but a few general rules still apply. Making unbirth work for the first time is as much a physical journey as a technical one, and usually requires several months to build up the necessary elasticity. The vaginal canal must be primed to associate certain sexual stimuli with the need to stretch (popularly referred to as 'lockpicking'); similarly, past a certain point, the <tip="Anatomy">gynocartilage in a woman's pelvis will need to be gradually trained. By this point the cervix is usually ready to stretch as well, but if not, relaxation and gentle tickling go a long way.Once those obstacles are overcome, the womb itself usually has no difficulty accepting a similarly-sized partner, since its walls have an extremely high concentration of <tip="Anatomy">sonvalencin chains. The vaginal canal remains open during unbirth, allowing the womb's occupant to breathe normally - although, with further training, the pelvis can be temporarily held shut to keep someone stuck inside. Caution is advised with this approach since the womb lacks the stomach's specialized impact padding and a struggle can be quite painful.

Luckily, the rectum and intestines don't usually require stretch-training, since these organs already stretch far beyond their usual size to accomodate the glut of mass from digested prey. Most women learn anal vore by inserting progressively larger foodstuffs - cucumbers through zucchinis through watermelons - and practicing the intestinal motions that will take them all the way to her stomach.Of course, struggling prey are more difficult than fruit to ingest and keep inside, so today a small number of instructors offer private anal training under intense supervision. Preds without access to such instruction can find training videos online, including a number of infamous <tip="Degen">degens who film real-life anal predation and give just enough advice to maintain the veneer of being an educational video.

Given that a predator interested in anal vore must <tip="AnalTraining">learn to exert control over her intestines, some end up wondering whether the process can be made to work in reverse - that is, to take live prey from her stomach and pass the lucky individual safely. The answer is yes, although the process is risky and the reasons for doing so often dubious. The first step in the process is also the most difficult. The predator must force her prey down through her pyloric sphincter, which is naturally reluctant to admit solid objects. Passing through requires collaboration between both parties - the prey must work a finger, then an arm, then the whole body through the sphincter, while the pred moves the top of her small intestine in such a manner that her body believes a solid object is moving upward.Once in the predator's intestines, the prey is not out of danger - lacking the oxygen that accompanies both anal and oral ingestion, passage to the colon must be relatively swift or suffocation may result. Pressure in a predator's colon is sufficient to keep her anus open and admit breathable air, so long-term survival inside a predator's digestive tract invariably takes place in her colon. There are only a handful of reasons to attempt a full tour. A predator who wants to avoid digesting her prey, but does not want the vulnerability associated with vomiting, may choose this means of egress. It is also sometimes used as additional humiliation for a defeated foe. Occasionally a <tip="Voreaphilia">voreaphile will request a full tour from a sexual partner.

The anatomy of the human throat differs by sex - unlike men's, women's sinus passages run parallel to the esophagus until they reach the epiglottis. There, an auxiliary flap allows breaths to be taken through the nose even when the throat is fully engaged in swallowing prey. This passage is reinforced with cartilage in order to remain open under considerable external pressure. One consequence of this anatomy is that many communicable illnesses make predation impossible - even the common cold will keep a pred from breathing while swallowing prey, and she'll reflexively vomit so as not to pass out. A sick predator is at her most vulnerable and usually stays out of public places, especially if she has rivals in the area.

A predator's stomach has many adaptations not found in other mammals, but one of the most unusual is its ability to secrete hydrofluoric acid - an extremely toxic substance which excels at dissolving the bones of dead prey, and greatly accelerates digestion in general. This substance was likely critical to our ancestors' survival, minimizing the time spent in a state of reduced mobility and leaving less spoor for predators (in the ecological sense of the term) to detect. However, in modern homo sapiens, a small number of women seem to have lost this particular ability - a condition known as Brenc's Syndrome. A predator with Brenc's may take two to four days to digest her prey, and cannot digest bones at all. Typically these will be regurgitated, along with leftover hair, once all chyme has left the stomach; more rarely, a predator may simply pass her prey's bones, a long and uncomfortable process.Historically, Brenc's has been a taboo topic. When they acknowledged its existence at all, most pre-scientific cultures viewed Brenc's as a supernatural curse, and the regurgitated bones themselves as objects of evil - although exceptions did exist, most notoriously the Mongol "bone witches" who crafted their arrows from preys' remains and served as the Khan's personal guard. It was not until the late nineteenth century that Dr. Georgette Brenc, a sufferer herself, undertook a serious scientific study of the condition. At the time, samples of digestive fluids showed that one out of every four hundred women had this syndrome; modern research has doubled that number, and it is still unknown whether this is the result of genetic drift as the human population expands, or developmental damage inflicted by environmental toxins.During the 20th century, Brenc's was slow to lose its stigma. The counterculture of the 1960s was fascinated by the condition, as exemplified by the iconic photo of a large-breasted hippie juggling four skulls painted in psychedelic colors, but this only provoked backlash. It was not until the 90's that the "No Bones About It" public-relations campaign (spearheaded by <tip="Heartburn">Heartburn guitarist Nicole Kent) began to successfully portray Brenc's sufferers as everyday preds.Today, unfortunately, that same acceptance may be helping to drive the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis. CODA is by far the most prevalent of these rare conditions, affecting up to one in 1200 people. Sufferers are completely unable to neutralize acids, and their skin suffers the same burns as any other animal. When a person with CODA is swallowed, the effect is nearly immediate - a predator's stomach has already secreted enough hydrochloric acid to cause painful and obvious burns. Remaining inside for any length of time is invariably fatal, and effective struggle is impossible as skin and muscle actively dissolve. As a result, eating CODA patients is illegal under <tip="VoreLaw">vore law - not only does it violate every principle of fairness, it is such a gruesome death that even predators are typically motivated to avoid inflicting it.Today, high school students are routinely tested for CODA with an eyedropper full of weak acid; if the skin turns red, genetic testing is then performed to confirm. CODA patients wear a special armband to indicate that they are off the menu; falsely wearing one is a serious crime. The acronym stands for Congenital Depletion of Oxysomes with Anemia - the oxysome being the special human organelle which stores acids. It is the result of an SNP (a single gene mutation) which causes the oxysome's membrane to fold improperly. CODA patients also have low red blood cell counts, and a female sufferer is advised to avoid predation - her own stomach will likely develop painful ulcers, or force her vomit immediately.

Vore is as old as humanity, and no two cultures have treated it quite the same. At one extreme, a handful of societies have attempted to outright ban predation, or limit it to members of a ruling class; at the other, modern movements such as <tip="CVT">critical vore theory are openly calling for the abolition of <tip="FairGame">fair game. In general, however, most cultures have decided to preserve (in the words of the United States constitution) "a woman's final Right" to solve conflicts with vore, within limits imposed by tradition rather than law.Since each culture applies its own standard of <tip="FairGame">fair game, a predator who wants to avoid the label of <tip="Degen">degenerate effectively represents her community's collective boundaries. She has willingly made herself <tip="FairGame">fair game in exchange for being able to retaliate against the insults, swindles, and betrayals that the rest of us are expected to grin and bear. In doing so, she tends to eliminate society's most troublesome members. Studies show that 3-5% of 18-year-olds display socio- or psychopathic behavior, but by the age of 30 this has dropped to less than half a percent due to predation. Similar trends are seen in behavior such as sexual offenses.Once she has taken on her role, a predator needs to know certain things: how dangerous her fellow preds are as individuals, who's agreed to watch whose back or help her settle scores, and where to expect treachery. She will also discover that some blame for the actions of local <tip="Degen">degens splashes onto her - after all, why hasn't another pred eaten this troublemaker yet?As a result, reputation inevitably becomes the currency of pred subcultures, and they face strong incentives to handle their issues internally (so to speak) - an attitude best exemplified by the concept of an <tip="Apex">apex. Humans being human, boasting and exaggeration are as inevitable as more directly malicious behavior, and more than one pred has found herself digested over a misunderstanding.Predation has also historically served as the great equalizer between the sexes. In addition to vore's <tip="Vorefare">role in warfare, the fact that any woman can become a predator has prevented men from attempting to monopolize power - or at least assuring that such attempts do not last long. Conversely, societies which swung too far towards matriarchy have invariably ended up ruled by <tip="Degen">degenerates and faced revolt.Today, some predators try to stay out of their local pred scenes as much as possible, only learning names and faces to avoid as they go about their lives. Others adopt predation as their primary identity and build social circles consisting largely or exclusively of fellow predators. Most fall somewhere in the middle, although over the past decade both sides have shifted closer to the extremes.Social media has had a striking influence on pred culture. A young woman can post a picture of herself with a belly to Instagram and expect praise from similarly-minded individuals, none of whom might live close enough to pose a mutual risk to her. Several theories propose that this constant positive feedback and perceived reduction of risk are largely responsible for the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis.

Given that successful predation involves the death of a citizen, it is important for any society to answer the question of when vore is legitimate and when it should be classified as occidendum vorax - literally, murder by consumption. Nearly every stable society has converged on certain common principles, while others vary widely from culture to culture. A predatory world traveler would be wise to familiarize herself with local statutes before sampling exotic meals. The most important commonality is that the use of a weapon qualifies as o.v. - with obvious exceptions for times of war, or when vore is used as self-defense against another form of violence. Cultures do vary significantly in answering the question of what is considered a weapon. Most Asian countries consider the use of any object besides the predator's own body - including clothing that is used to bind or disorient the prey - to violate vore law. In the West, the so-called threefold standard is applied: did the predator bring the object into the situation, is the object inherently dangerous, and would the act of vore have been possible without it?Thus a predator who grabs a bystander's cup of hot coffee and throws it on her prey's face would be found guilty in Japan and innocent in France. It is also important to note that if the prey survives the encounter - either by avoiding being swallowed, or escaping from the predator's stomach - the predator is still legally culpable for any harm inflicted. Many observers have noted that this creates a perverse incentive to 'finish the job,' so to speak, and as a result <tip="Yield">yields often include an agreement not to press charges.Occidendum vorax also applies if the predator consumes her prey while committing another crime, such as breaking into her prey's residence. A similar standard applies to cases of so-called "vulgar causes" - most notably financial gain. No set of laws in the developed world permits a predator to accept money or other assets in exchange for digesting a specific individual or members of a particular group. Likewise, being inside a predator's stomach is legally considered to be duress, and any financial contracts the prey may make for his or her survival are not legally binding. The final cross-cultural principle involves prey selection. A predator who eats a child or someone with a profound mental or physical handicap has committed a particularly heinous form of occidendum vorax - studies show that the human brain is likely hardwired with revulsion against this act, and other predators in particular view it as something akin to blasphemous. The slang term "gank" is the single most offensive accusation that can be leveled against a predator; because very few ganks survive long past the initial incident, calling someone a gank meets the standard of imminent incitement to violence in nearly every jurisdiction.Beyond these commonalities, cultures diverge widely in their treatment of vore. In the West, politicians and other public servants such as law enforcement officers are not permitted to digest citizens outside of self-defense situations (including <tip="Reversal">reversals after the latter has failed to digest her). This prohibition dates as far back as the 1215 Magna Carta, which included a provision banning vore between different levels of the feudal hierarchy except as punishment for a crime - although in practice, the definition of criminality was fungible enough that a noble lady seldom went hungry. Conversely, most other cultures draw no such distinction between leaders and citizens.Generally, cultures with strong property rights such as the modern West allow business owners to prohibit vore on their premises; preds who violate this law are considered to be trespassing. Although this does not retroactively make the act into occidendum vorax, in practice such a pred seldom gets to keep her prey, since the arrest process involves regurgitation of live prey. Strangely enough, these cultures take the opposite tack following a successful predation - any property on the prey's person at the time of consumption becomes the predator's to do with as she pleases. This has led to practices such as the taking of <tip="Trophies">trophies. The complex and often byzantine nature of vore law has made it a perpetual favorite for writers of speculative fiction since at least the time of the Odyssey - either imagining societies where vore is always treated as murder, or where it is simply impossible (such as an alien civilization or an island entirely populated by men). In the real world, however, the only societies which have outright banned vore have been either utopian communes or dystopian states under martial law, and both cases tend to be short-lived.

It's no secret that vore rates in the developed world have spiraled out of control in the 21st century - up to an eightfold increase since the year 2000, surpassing cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death in 2016. Depending on which statistics one trusts, up to one in every 200 Americans may have been digested in 2022 alone.Although talking heads have blamed everything from climate change to illegal migrants, the most reasonable explanations seem to involve the instant status that predation grants on social media, increasing feelings of alienation from society, and general economic anxiety. There are no signs that the '21st-century vore crisis' will level off anytime soon - in fact, it seems to be only accelerating, and outside of shallow moral grandstanding our world leaders have proposed very few solutions.Vore seems to follow a Pareto distribution; most predators will only digest one or two people in their lives, while a small number of extremely active predators account for the majority of deaths. Of course, vore tends to provoke a response from friends and loved ones, and many of those less prolific predators were simply digested themselves before they could eat more than a few people. There are significant socioeconomic differences in vore rates. The shrinking middle class has by far the lowest number of predators per capita, while either poverty or extreme wealth increases the likelihood that a woman will choose predation or see it as her only option. Likewise, population density and predation rate seem strongly correlated, with the densest urban centers having the most vore - random attacks by <tip="Degen">degens are quite rare outside of cities.Compared to the population baseline, predators are radically more likely to be attracted to other women. Up to 40% of preds in some studies display sexual interest in both men and women, and a futher 20% are exclusively attracted to women. Whether this is causal or simply correlated is still poorly understood, but evolutionary theorists suspect that this is a case of group selection: pre-agricultural tribes whose predators pair-bonded with one another were less subject to internal conflict.

Fair game is not to be confused with <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, a much more serious code which can result in murder charges if violated.Predators are automatically considered fair game. The decision to digest a fellow human being comes with consequences, and preds are seen as having chosen to live in a more dangerous world - one where she may be a friend and neighbor, maybe even a loved one, but she's not entirely a civilian anymore, and can't complain when she ends up in a more dangerous predator's gut.A pred who refuses to abide by fair game is known as a <tip="Degen">degenerate predator or simply a <tip="Degen">degen. Although she is not a criminal, a <tip="Degen">degen has proven herself dangerous to those around her, and strangers will at best view her with suspicion. In its strongest form, the concept of fair game actually encourages predation: a predator who specifically seeks out <tip="Degen">degens, especially those who have upset the local community, as her meals may gain a positive reputation as a <tip="Paragon">paragon.Being fair game isn't for life. Once menopause removes a woman's ability to engage in predation, she ceases to be fair game. A predator who hasn't eaten anyone in ten years is generally regarded to have lost her pred status, although this varies from culture to culture. In eras past a religious or ideological conversion was usually accepted as wiping the slate clean, but the practice evaporated during the 20th century due to widespread abuse.Usually, it is the responsibility of an individual predator to convince her community that her prey was fair game. However, an offender can also publicly be declared fair game by the local <tip="Apex">apex - effectively a modern writ of outlawry. Most apexes are careful not to abuse this power, as that is one of the fastest ways to create a coalition against her.Although being eaten is never pleasant, particularly horrifying acts of vore have stricter standards applied to them. A predator who ingests her prey anally is expected to somehow justify the extra humiliation - for example, if the prey was responsible for a family member's death or the destruction of her career. Eating someone as <tip="DoubleVore">dessert is always considered <tip="Degen">degenerate, and even other <tip="Degen">degens tend to consider it unsporting.

Usually shortened to 'degen,' a degenerate predator chooses meals who are not <tip="FairGame">fair game - that is, prey who did not earn their fates. While she has committed no crime under <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, she has stepped outside the traditions of <tip="PredCulture">predator culture and proven herself dangerous to society at large. The degen stigma does not apply when a predator digests a fellow predator, since preds are automatically <tip="FairGame">fair game. The public views degens with understandable suspicion. Most people in the modern world won't outright shun a degenerate pred, but they will at least be suspicious of her motives and avoid being alone with her. She will likely have difficulty finding friends and especially intimate relationships outside of subcultures which tolerate or celebrate rampant predation - fellow degens, criminals, <tip="Voreaphilia">voreaphiles, and so on - unless she already occupies a high-status position. Degens also face an uphill battle getting hired in most fields, although such a reputation may be useful in specific roles like personal security or <tip="Training">vore escape training.A degen who wants to preserve her reputation will sometimes try to hide her actions, but once discovered this is nearly as serious an offense as digesting her prey in the first place - after all, the most dangerous wolf is the one hiding in sheep's clothing. Historically, this additional stigma was a cultural response rather than a legal one, but in recent years the <tip="PredHouse">housing laws passed by certain states have begun to mandate disclosure of predation history.Historically, a degen has been able to prove she has reformed herself by abstaining from vore for the decade it takes to lose her status as <tip="FairGame">fair game. Degens who continued their behavior were usually pressured to leave their communities, often living a semi-nomadic (and semi-criminal) lifestyle, or serving in some martial capacity. Wealthy degenerates encountered public scandal and private respect from their peers. However, during the 20th century, an increasing number of the Western cultural elite began to openly reject the traditional definition of <tip="FairGame">fair game, either drawing a more permissive line or none or all. The degenerate predator became a distant symbol of rebellion, romanticized in popular media even as she was feared and avoided in real life. By the turn of the millenium, open degens had led cultural movements like <tip="Heartburn">pred rock, broken the taboo against showing a real belly on television, and been the subject of countless moral panics. However, it was only the age of social media that has truly "democratized degeneracy." Cultural observers suspect that the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis is due in large part to the contrasting treatment a degen receives off- and online. Unlike an in-person conversation with a degen, an online chat poses no risk of becoming her next meal, and so she carries all the allure without the risk. Lacking access to many job opportunities and increasingly confident in a degenerate identity, many degens become influencers and content creators. These factors have driven online discourse to be wildly supportive of degeneracy, encouraging young women who might not otherwise have considered the lifestyle.

Judge, jury, and often executioner - a city's apex predator is an unofficial role, but a vital one. When personal disputes have the town's preds choosing sides, when <tip="Degen">degens are eating too many tourists and local businesses suffer, when someone in town might have done something heinous enough to be declared <tip="FairGame">fair game, the apex is expected to offer guidance to the local pred community.Contrary to some popular depictions, an apex isn't simply the most dangerous predator in the area. Any pred who seeks the status of apex must be personally skilled enough to carry out her decisions if necessary, but also widely respected - ideally someone for whom several other predators will risk their own lives. She is first among equals for as long as her community will allow her to be; the role of apex more closely resembles an ancient tribal chieftess than either a queen or a modern elected official.Apexes are expected to solve disputes with an even hand, and in many cultures including the modern West there is considerable expectation of privacy when a pred seeks the apex's advice. She usually represents the interests of local preds at town-hall meetings and other political functions, and may consult for law enforcement when <tip="VoreLaw">vore law has been violated.Statistically, the most common occupation for an apex is bartender, although lawyers and teachers (including university professors) are also well-represented. Due to the life experience, both voracious and otherwise, required for the role, most apexes take it on in their mid-thirties. In rare cases, a particularly clever, skilled, and respected predator may become apex in her twenties. An apex seldom holds her title for more than a decade - when her body starts to slow down, an apex either formally announces her 'retirement' and hopes it will not be taken advantage of, or simply lives long enough to be digested by a younger pred with something to prove. The digestion of an apex is often a tumultuous moment for local preds, and for the city at large, especially if there's no clear candidate to replace her. After a brief period of chaos (and a spike in predation rates) cliques begin to form and the community usually settles on a new apex within a month. If this fails to occur, however, the city is likely in for a long-term power struggle.Rural areas seldom have, or require, an apex due to geographic size and significantly lower predation rates. When abuses occur in these regions, their communities usually seek help from a <tip="Paragon">paragon instead.

Throughout history, there have been predators whose personal codes of honor have put them at odds with less principled preds. A predator who solely eats <tip="Degen">degens is broadly known as a paragon, although the category is quite diverse and every culture has put its own spin on the role.Unlike an <tip="Apex">apex, a paragon does not act with the blessing of the local pred community, and in fact is usually a priority target for the more active predators around. As a result, paragons don't tend to put down roots. In popular imagery, the Old West cowgirl riding into town with a white hat on her head and a bounty in her gut was a paragon, and so was the Japanese ronin who dueled and digested voracious samurai on the long path to regaining her honor.Today, most paragons are so-called digital nomads, working tech jobs remotely and living out of vehicles or in short-term housing. Even rural areas have been affected by the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis, so the modern paragon can often find a small town nearby whose people are willing to skirt the boundaries of <tip="VoreLaw">vore law and offer her non-economic incentives to deal with a local <tip="Degen">degenerate.Very rarely, a paragon wins the respect of her local pred community and is chosen as <tip="Apex">apex. If the surviving <tip="Degen">degens cannot overthrow her, they have little choice but to mend their ways or move, and her reign will be a time of safety. The modern world's most famous paragon-turned-<tip="Apex">apex was <tip="Sassy">Audrey 'Sassy' Lacroix, a film actress who tamed the notorious pred gangs of 1930s Paris and who was an early public martyr of the French resistance during World War II. Today, a stylized print of her face can be seen on the 'Sassy shirts' worn by idealistic young women.

Given the risks that come with being <tip="FairGame">fair game, it's no surprise that novice predators often seek help from more experienced preds in their social circles. In its healthiest form, this mentorship helps young predators become competent enough that fear of attack is no longer a daily factor in their lives. In its unhealthiest form, the young pred finds someone who is looking for a doll. A doll is not simply a less dominant predator within a clique; she is a wholly submissive follower who openly relies on a more experienced pred for survival. Most predators view dolls with disdain - few things are more despicable than someone who took the coward's way out at the cost of her soul, so 'doll' is one of the most vicious insults which can be aimed at a pred. When other predators consider her at all, a doll is usually seen as an extension of the pred she belongs to rather than an independent actor. Occasionally a doll survives long enough to become dangerous in her own right, even while psychologically shackled to a more dangerous predator, and ends up with a degree of grudging respect. On the other hand, the general public often views dolls as figures of sympathy. The "rescued doll" is a common trope in romantic fiction, but real-life rescue organizations like <tip="ButtonEyes">Button Eyes caution that many dolls are volatile and fanatically loyal to their predators, making them dangerous until they've had time to adjust back to normal life. The doll relationship usually begins with a public declaration - nowadays on social media - that the doll is now off the menu for other local predators, and that the predator will enforce this if necessary. By this point, the doll has agreed to owe favors for continuing protection, but may not know the extent of the abuse she will suffer during the "dolling" process. Errands quickly become a part-time job, social circles are eaten away at (literally, if necessary), and actual predatory training is only provided insofar as it makes the doll useful.Once conditioned, dolls assist the predator in hunting her prey. Having an extra pair of hands (even a relatively unskilled one) can easily turn the tide of a grapple, occupy the prey's allies, or massage an upset stomach. Although dolls seldom garner genuine affection from their predators, they are not freely disposable. A pred with a reputation for losing dolls is unlikely to see many new candidates present themselves. It is uncommon but far from unheard of for a doll to outlive her predator. Depending on her mental resilience, she might take what she learned and try to make her own way as a pred - an uphill battle, as the doll stigma seldom washes entirely clean - or she may seek a new predator to serve. Her former predator's enemies seldom seek vengeance on dolls, seeing them as instruments of their deceased foe rather than independent actors. Often these enemies will be the first to give her a recruiting pitch.Only a few predators keep more than one doll, as this carries the risk of the dolls bonding and becoming a threat. Those that do usually have some other method of enforcing loyalty - a wealthy predator might buy her dolls' loyalty with lavish lifestyles, while a corrupt policewoman may be the only thing keeping hers out of prison.

A predator sometimes finds herself in an uncomfortable position where her prey has surrendered and is willing to make amends for whatever conflict provoked the act of vore, but the danger of a <tip="Reversal">reversal or later vengeance compels her to digest the poor soul anyway. To avoid this situation, nearly every culture has developed some version of the yield: a ritualized oath which guarantees the predator's safety upon vomiting, giving both parties a potential exit from a situation that has gotten out of hand.Yielding is considered a personal matter rather than a legal one under modern <tip="VoreLaw">vore law - nevertheless, even in this age of active social deconstruction, yieldbreaking is one of the few remaining taboos. <tip="Paragon">Paragons and <tip="Degen">degens alike will actively hunt a predator who <tip="Reversal">reverses after yielding, assuming the local <tip="Apex">apex does not make an example of her first. Likewise, a male yieldbreaker who batters his former predator while she is weakened will seldom live to see trial. The exact wording of a yield varies from region to region (and person to person) but the letter of the oath is less important than its spirit, and few are willing to risk accusations of yieldbreaking over a technicality. Yielding also prohibits both parties from seeking future vengeance over this particular incident - although, of course, it says nothing about responding to further provocations. As with other aspects of <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, a yield in the modern West may not include an exchange of currency or other assets for the prey's life, but it may include reasonable compensation for the cause of the conflict (ie, vehicle repairs after a traffic accident). In cases where a reasonable sum cannot be determined, the matter is often brought before the local <tip="Apex">apex.Yields in pre-modern cultures often included some aspect of legal submission - whether that was a transfer of feudal obligations or outright slavery - and despite pressure from the international community, these practices unfortunately persist in some parts of the developing world.

Obviously, successful predation involves the taking of a life. Given the human tendency to hold grudges, and how often the concept appears in fiction, it may be surprising to learn how rarely an act of predation actually results in a family vendetta - even if the prey's family includes skilled predators. <tip="Evolution">Human evolution seems to have cognitively biased us against this behavior, since even a successful family struggle will likely reduce one's own genetic lineage, or impair the survival of one's broader society. Other predators in the community have a strong incentive to nip such vendettas in the bud lest they get drawn into drawn into the conflict themselves, and while rare it is not unknown for such a squabble to trigger a general anti-predation backlash.Nonetheless, a handful of families do decide to seek vengeance, and a handful of those turn out to be quite good at it. Once a family has gained this sort of reputation, it inevitably shapes the upbringing of future generations: young women are raised to expect that they will become predators, young men are expected to play a supporting role in their sisters' hunts, and above all there is the demand that family comes first. When older women <tip="Anatomy">age out of predation, they are expected to personally train their granddaughters. This arrangement can last for generations, during which time a predator family accumulates considerable influence - such as the modern <tip="Kagutsuchi">Kagutsuchi family's ties to the defense industry, or the Swifts' legendary exploits in the Old West. Given an intergenerational tendency to rule through fear, it is also unsurprising that many predator families end up involved with organized crime, intelligence agencies, or shadowy international organizations whose reach (and existence) are hotly disputed. However, the position of a predator family is fragile. The loss of any family member, even one who is out of favor, must be reacted to immediately and with overwheming force. If the digestion happened in secret, local predators are advised to be wary, as the public nature of the of vengeance can be more important than its choice of target. Should this hammer not fall, other rivals will begin probing for weaknesses, and within weeks one loss can have snowballed into catastrophe.Rarely, members of a predator family will publicly disavow their connections, placing themselves outside both the family's protection and its constraints. This, too, can occasionally spark a chain reaction in the younger generations. Shakespeare's play Philomena recounts one infamous historical example, where the older women of a noble house attempted to quell their daughters' rebellion, and "the maiden was nourished once more, by those breasts which she once suck'd."

Given the bodily contortions involved in swallowing a person whole, women's clothing tends to be either designed around the possibility of predation, or actively built to impede it. Much of women's fashion was historically designed to signal that the wearer does not intend to be a threat. Elaborate and expensive dresses will tear during predation, high heels make it more difficult to chase prey, and long nails are an obstacle in grappling. Conversely, modern clothing which leaves a woman's midriff exposed serves as a social signal that the wearer is leaving open the possibility of eating someone who starts trouble.Women's clothing is designed with intentional failure points. Were it not, the upper torso would likely tear in an unpredictable fashion when prey first passed down the wearer's gullet, and would certainly rip when her stomach started to expand - not only unpleasant, but risking ligature injuries. Instead, the material is deliberately weakened at locations called "predator's seams." These seams have been discovered in some of the world's oldest clothing, including Egyptian linens dating back over five thousand years. The <tip="WeightGain">weight gained from successful predation poses challenges of its own. A special garment known as a "vore bra" - another ancient invention, with examples known from classical Athens and arguably earlier in India - provides adjustable support as the predator's breasts grow during the course of digestion and then gradually shrink back to a new equilibrium, whereupon a more comfortable standard bra can be purchased in the new size. The rest of the predator's wardrobe will likely also become ill-fitting, at least in the short term, and in the modern world most predators keep around a few sets of baggy clothes for the days or weeks following a meal. The vore bra is hardly the only item of clothing marketed specifically towards predators. The 1996 invention of Helitex, the first synthetic fiber to partially mimic the elasticity of a woman's body, allowed pred-friendly shirts to avoid tearing the upper torso during predation. This is not currenly true of the stomach itself, so pred-friendly dresses must include a (usually semi-hidden) escape route for a suddenly expanding stomach. As anal vore has become more socially acceptable, many retailers have begun offering multi-piece panties which can be quickly unhooked to allow access to the anus.

Under common <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, predators may claim ownership of any item on the prey's person at the time of predation. In practice, however, few objects can survive her digestive tract or be much use afterwards, so a predator who wants a memento of her meal usually takes a 'trophy' during the process of swallowing her prey. Pausing to take a trophy makes predation more difficult, so by far the most common trophies are footwear and <tip="Cellphones">cellphones, which are desirable to remove anyway.A trophy may be taken to commemorate a victory over a rival, to honor a worthy adversary, or simply as a matter of 'keeping score.' Occasionally a predator may wish to add a particularly distinctive piece of clothing to her own outfit. Not all predators choose to take trophies, but the practice has been so common throughout history that terms like 'cobbler's admirer' and 'woman of many silks' have been used as polite euphemisms for predators. In some cultures, trophies are traditionally handed down from mother to daughter to form a family collection.Trophy taking is a controversial subject in the modern world - outspoken <tip="Degen">degens often post their trophy collections on social media, which has somewhat tainted the practice's reputation. An artistically inclined predator will sometimes turn her trophies into aesthetic or functional objects; sale of such 'pred art' is banned on Etsy and similar sites so as not to encourage rampant predation.

Over the past two decades, various legal restrictions have been placed on predators in attempt to curtail <tip="Degen">degenerates and end the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis. One of the most controversial is the concept of 'predation-aware housing,' legally requiring tenants to disclose their predation history and permitting landlords to prohibit known preds from renting specific units.Critics argue that these laws effectively make preds into second-class citizens, and in the United States several legal challenges culminated in the 2014 Supreme Court case Chun v. Alvarez. The court ruled 5-4 that predators are not a protected housing class, citing the fact that vore is a personal decision and arguing that neighbors had a right to be informed of such risks. Despite widespread protests, most coastal states have implemented predation-aware housing laws.In practice, these laws have resulted in the formation of 'pred houses' - non-pred tenants tend to migrate away from buildings which allow predatory neighbors. Rents in a pred house are almost always higher than comparable buildings despite aggressive attempts at rent control, and opponents argue that this de facto housing segregation will further distance preds from society and increase their willingness to eat those outside their social circles.

Waste disposal may be a biological necessity, but it is also perhaps the single most macabre aspect of vore. Since a predator's digestive tract cannot break down hair, and often small fragments of the prey's densest bones will also be passed, her feces is instantly recognizable as a former human being. Most of the modern world is understandably squeamish regarding disposal. Depositing prey in a public toilet is considered rude, if not outright trashy - although, like most social taboos in the 21st century, this one seems to be fraying. Certain <tip="Degen">degenerate predators actively enjoy provoking discomfort in the population at large, leaving clogged public toilets as inescapable reminders of mortality.Historically, most cultures have treated disposal as some form of taboo, to be performed in private and not brought up again. Exceptions are found across history, however - from common tribal practices of ritually fertilizing spritually-significant locations, to the ancient Egyptian practice of storing waste in ceramic jars over a predator's lifetime, so that they may be entombed with her and force her prey to serve her in the afterlife. In places where taboos have held, they were often broken in order to send a particularly vicious insult by 'returning' a family member.

The ubiquity of the smartphone affects all aspects of society, so it's no surprise that predators have had to learn new behaviors over the past two decades. Being made from indigestible glass and plastic, phones usually pass whole - but not all are made to the same quality standards, and a pred who ingests her prey's cellphone might accidentally absorb toxic compounds from its electronics or be faced with sharp fragments.Perhaps more dangerously, cellphones can also summon aid. Prey may have sufficient range of motion to use the phone to send a text, and despite legal challenges <tip="VoreAlert">VoreAlert is the third-most-downloaded app on the Apple Store and fifth on Google Play. It and similar apps use the phone's sensors to automatically detect ingestion and ping nearby contacts for help.Predation has spawned a gray market in secondhand phones; although a prey's phone becomes the predator's property under <tip="VoreLaw">vore law, the legal status of the phone's data and passwords is still murky as of fall 2024. Most preds simply factory-reset and resell preys' phones - tech-minded preds have no shortage of video tutorials on the subject, and several online services will handle the entire reselling process by mail.Predators usually take great pains to remove prey's cellphones before swallowing, but this is not always practical. A technique popularly known as the 'phone bounce' has developed to ensure an ingested cellphone does not leave the stomach - upon liquefaction of prey, the solid mass can be felt and guided away from the pyloric sphincter. Once all remains have drained out of her stomach, the pred can regurgitate the now-likely-useless cellphone, which is often kept as a <tip="Trophies">trophy.

Shustitzky. The Court ruled 7-2 that intentionally coating one's body in a noxious substance (in this case, a painfully bitter lotion invented by a patent-medicine chemist) qualified as a weapon and thus violated <tip="VoreLaw">vore law. Shustitzky's escape was therefore deemed unlawful and she was returned to her former predator; the chemist was imprisoned as an accomplice. As a result, chemists scrambled to ensure that their products could not possibly be judged as noxious, and so up through modern times health and beauty products have been tasty as well as pleasant-smelling.

Historically, formal training in escaping a predator's stomach was rare and almost always offered one-on-one - an individual predator who either wanted to pass skills onto her family, or was hired to instruct the children of the wealthy - with the only exceptions involving military or law-enforcement cadets. The reasons are understandable enough: the inherent unpleasantness of being in a stomach, the possibility of an accident (or an "accident"), and the pain and dehydration suffered by the predator after vomiting.Individual training is far from unheard of today between predators and their friends or loved ones - however, given the growing threat posed by the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis, it is no surprise that the market for organized, professional instruction has exploded. Lack of regulation and a large number of predators seeking to monetize their skills have led to wide variations in training and quality thereof. Nevertheless, most instruction can broadly be said to fall into one of three categories:Vore gyms operate like martial-arts schools, usually centered around one or two very experienced local predators. Since the body takes hours to recover from failed predation, student teaching is critical to such a setup - each additional predator's stomach is one more person who can be trained during that session. As a result, such gyms almost always train predation techniques as well as escape struggles. A particular vore gym may draw exclusively from its members' expertise, or it may teach a formalized style such as <tip="Yoga">Australian Defense Yoga. Vore gyms expect their members to turn training into a routine, and in practice tend to suffer issues with retaining new members. Many gyms eventually reduce down to a dangerous clique of local predators and their hangers-on.Vore schools are institutions which offer intensive courses in escape tactics from a large number of professional instructors. Some such courses are one- or two-week bootcamps, while others offer weekly sessions over six months - in either case, usually enough to allow the average citizen to escape even a relatively experienced predator. Unfortunately, the less expensive vore schools tend to be run by sleazy predators who exaggerate their credentials, and the expensive ones can get expensive indeed. The general reputation of vore schools suffered a devastating blow after the high-profile failure of the <tip="MIP">Miami Institute of Predation earlier this year, and may take a long time to recover.Stomach bags are by far the most popular method of escape training. As the name implies, these exercise machines are meant to simulate being inside a stomach without exposing the user to the corresponding risks. Most are constructed from the hyperelastic fabric Helitex (more commonly used in <tip="VoreAndClothing">pred-friendly clothing) and woven through with sensors to detect impacts. Motors are then used to pull cords attached to various parts of the bag, mimicking the motion and feedback of a predator's stomach. As of 2024, most gyms and fitness clubs have at least one stomach bag - however, the technology been derided as "worse than useless" by a broad swathe of escape instructors, since they do not offer the same psychological environment, cannot simulate the sloshing of acids (although newer models have the option to use tap water), and their feedback often fails to match the complex and individually varying motions of an actual stomach.Despite the recent boom in interest, most of the population has not yet taken any form of live escape training. This is likely to change in the near future as universities have already begun to experiment with mandatory escape training for their students, and companies for their critical staff.Training in escaping anal vore is almost never offered professionally (as opposed to the increasingly common <tip="AnalTraining">anal predation training), since few students sign up, fewer return for a second round, and even fewer of those lack <tip="Voreaphilia">ulterior motives.

As the <tip="Statistics">21st-century vore crisis continues to intensify, so too does demand for organized, professional <tip="Training">escape training - and, on the other side of the equation, for quick and accessible pathways by which an interested young woman might become skilled at predation. No institution better exemplifies those market demands (and their resulting fallout) than the Miami Institute of Predation.Founded in the fall of 2023 by retired <tip="Apex">apex Dawn Flores, MIP sought to offer an unprecedented year-long intensive course in the predator lifestyle. Its initial class of 250 students lived on the Institute's waterfront campus, receiving group and personal instruction from some of the nation's most accomplished predators and most experienced survivors.Infamously, MIP also had none of the typical <tip="Training">vore school restrictions on predation between students. In theory, this was intended to keep students on their toes at all times, honing the reflexes and social connections that would allow them to flourish after graduation. In practice, this resulted in a small clique of the most dominant predators - the so-called Naughty Nine - running rampant to the point where many students simply abandoned the program in fear for their lives. The school's staggeringly high digestion rate (nearly twenty-five percent!) was far from its only problem. Several prominent instructors either quit or cut their hours due to inconsistent pay, and at least three appear to have been digested by their own students. The buildings themselves suffered from shoddy construction to the point where one member of the Naughty Nine established her reputation by eating a fellow student in the confusion following the collapse of a seating area.As issues piled up, finances grew tighter, and the Institute became the butt of public ridicule, Flores announced that the school would close at the end of its fall semester in order to "re-evalute" its curriculum. When a disgruntled employee revealed, halfway through the closing ceremony, that Flores did not in fact have the resources to refund survivors' second-semester tuition, the result was a minor riot - during which the retired <tip="Apex">apex was swallowed and digested by one of the Naughty Nine, Hitomi Kagutsuchi, bringing the story of MIP to a permanent conclusion. In the aftermath of the MIP's strange life and stranger death, it has become a memetic lightning rod for cultural issues related to vore. Commentors of various political stripes have noted the folly of trying to reduce the complex social role of the predator to a mass-marketed commodity, while others have used the incident to argue that predation in general is no longer compatible with society. The recent documentary Student Body chronicles the Institute's rise and fall through security footage, students' video diaries, and interviews with survivors. Standalone clips of the school's more infamous moments, such as the inexperienced anal predator being loaded into an ambulance while her would-be prey's legs still kick outside, have spawned viral memes in their own right.Given the recency of events, it is difficult as of fall 2024 to say whether the Institute's demise will have a lasting impact on the reputation of <tip="Training">vore schools in general - although it's no secret that enrollment figures have steeply declined in the short term. At the very least it seems safe to say that no one will offer a "year-long intensive predator experience" anytime soon.

Organized violence is older than humanity itself, so it's no surprise that a uniquely human ability like vore has played a role on the battlefield. Students of history are often surprised to learn, however, just how nuanced and varied that role has been over the ages.Since there are quicker and easier ways to kill someone - methods which do not burden the soldier with a swollen belly - vore is rarely used in active battle, and even then is usually an accidental outcome of hand-to-hand combat, when a woman's mouth is the only weapon she can bring to bear. Battlefield predation became rarer still with the advent of gunpowder, and especially in the modern age of industrialized warfare. However, as the saying goes, amateurs debate tactics and professionals debate logistics. Predators can be a fantastic boon to a military unit's ability to operate away from supply lines: every enemy maimed or killed, and all too often any civilian who is too slow to flee, reduces the unit's need for rations (and in winter conditions, heat). Thus, for most of history the primary role of female soldiers has been to pursue and devour an enemy force that has already been routed, or to train themselves to overcome the natural gag reflex that opposes swallowing a corpse. Typically a warrior-pred will then palpate her breasts to stimulate <tip="Lactation">lactation, allowing her to share the nutritional bounty with her male comrades.Of course, no human society can escape the fact that, in evolutionary terms, sperm is cheap and wombs are expensive. Losing a percentage of the male population is much easier to recover from than losing that same percentage of females. Therefore when predators did take a more active role in combat, historically they have trained either as skirmishers (which allows them to maximize the hit-and-run advantages of the <tip="BurstOfStrength">burst), or with long-ranged weapons. Light cavalry was also a relatively common role. The advent of industrialized warfare in the 20th century drastically reduced the number of women in combat. After staggering losses in the early days of World War I, military leadership recognized that most of the advantages of predation no longer applied in a world of vehicles and artillery. Since the latter half of the century, when winning the propaganda war became arguably as important as kinetic conflict itself, open predation on the enemy has typically been seen as more trouble than it's worth.Modern militaries do still offer predation training for a handful of roles, most notably special forces who may need to operate autonomously in hostile zones. Occasionally a particular unit will develop a reputation after a high-profile incident, and the brass may find it useful to cultivate that reputation - see for example the "Gullets of Azov" in the current Ukrainian conflict. Vore also remains much more common in forms of violence outside of official command structures.

Given the malleability of human sexual interest, not to mention the complex web of taboo and tradition surrounding vore, it should come as no surprise that some percentage of the population is sexually aroused by the act or concept of vore. Known as voreaphilia, this fetish is distinct from the <tip="Vorny">general arousal a predator may feel while digesting her prey, and from the natural attraction predators' partners feel towards them. Given the strong taboos surrounding voreaphilia, it is difficult to gather accurate information on how widespread it is.A voreaphile may focus on the entirety of the process or one particular aspect - being swallowed, existing inside the predator's body, digestion, weight gain, disposal, or simply the power dynamics of vore. Female voreaphiles may achieve sexual release through the act of predation itself; voreaphiles of both sexes may be aroused (perhaps terminally so) by offering themselves as willing meals, or simply observing the act. There is compelling evidence that the fetish is not one but several (often overlapping) phenomena.Very few societies, past or present, have considered voreaphilia to be a healthy interest. The reasons are fairly obvious: a voreaphilic predator shares the same pattern of escalation as the typical serial killer, requiring more and more extreme actions to sate her desires. A male voreaphile may form a codependent relationship with one or more predators, luring prey in exchange for sexual favors. Voreaphiles whose interests run towards being prey will almost inevitably die of digestion when a sexual game finally goes too far. There is some controversy over whether voreaphiles can safely indulge their interests. Since videos of predation are ubiquitous online, as are comments along the line of "you know someone's fapping to this," some believe that a silent demographic of voreaphiles are content to keep their interests voyueristic. Critics argue that all sexual behavior escalates unless constrained by cultural or personal boundaries, and in <tip="Statistics">this age of rampant <tip="Degen">degeneracy, a self-reinforcing circuit exists between online voreaphiles who encourage acts of real-life predation and the young women who carry them out.
