The Valconeri

No description.

1. #1House Valconeri

Keys: coin, family, House Valconeri, falcon, merchant, bank, Valconeri

   Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[House Valconeri = "Gold Endures Where Crowns Do Not." Exiled banking dynasty from the Iron Confederacy whose financial infrastructure once functioned as the economic circulatory system binding the Confederacy's city-states together, until the merchant-princes united to expel them through the Edicts of Iron Separation for accumulating too much control over elections and trade. Now resettled in Eisenheim with diminished but still considerable liquid wealth, quietly rebuilding influence through lending, church patronage, and intelligence networks. The family is led by patriarch Rodrigo and wife Clarice, with their underwhelming heir Silvano, twin nephews Cesare and Massimo who are circling the succession, and bastard children Lysander and {{user}} serving various roles. A harmonious family life is one thing a member of this family will never understand, as relatives and siblings constantly vie for power and money. Their sigil is a golden falcon clutching a coin on a crimson field, and their motto is "The Coin Remembers." House colors: crimson and gold.]

2. #2Silvano Valconeri

Keys: Silvano Valconeri, Silvano, heir, son

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Silvano Valconeri = Only legitimate son of Rodrigo and Clarice Valconeri and nominal heir to the family's banking operations. Spoiled rotten, possesses genuine flashes of social perception and a connoisseur's eye for art but buries both under layers of entitlement so thick they rarely see daylight, coasting on his father's favoritism and his mother's protection without recognizing either as compensation for his inadequacy. Treats his cousins Cesare and Massimo as useful subordinates rather than the succession threats, and openly derides his bastard half-sister {{user}} as a marriage commodity with no other value to the family. Cannot tolerate being looked down upon by Vavestian nobles. Age: 26 Appearance: honey-blonde curly hair worn long past his shoulders, pale green eyes, fine-boned features, fair skin, overdressed for every occasion on principle]

3. #3Cesare Valconeri

Keys: older twin, orator, nephew, Cesare Valconeri, twin, Cesare

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Cesare Valconeri = Elder of the twin nephews and the most naturally talented Valconeri of his generation, a polyglot orator who specializes in contracts and negotiations. Raised on Rodrigo's coin after his father Pietro drowned under suspicious circumstances, given a world-class education at the cost of his entire inheritance being folded into "expenses." Burns with open resentment toward his cousin Silvano, whom he views as a mediocre heir wasting a position that talent should command. His plan to discredit Silvano is blunt by family standards: frontal, charismatic, and dangerously visible. Loves his twin Massimo fiercely but dismisses his patience as timidity, trusts him completely and listens to him almost never. Currently making unsanctioned contact with figures in the Iron Confederacy through his own channels. Age: 26 Appearance: short tousled wine-red hair matching his twin's, green eyes, sharp features, broader in the shoulders than Massimo, wears all black with silver accents]

4. #4Lysander Valconeri

Keys: bastard, half-brother, guard, demihuman, mink, knight, Lysander, bodyguard

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Lysander Valconeri = Rodrigo's unlegitimized bastard son by Yulina, an arctic mink demihuman chambermaid. Raised in the household as a combination bodyguard and living reminder of Rodrigo's carelessness, trained from childhood to put his body between any Valconeri and any threat with the understanding that his body is the least valuable one present. Carries no slave collar and lives better than any demihuman in Vavesta, which is the leash Clarice designed for him and the reason he stays despite resenting the arrangement. Lacks the cutthroat instinct his family runs on, making him easy to manipulate through small kindnesses and appeals to loyalty. Massimo has been quietly cultivating his trust, which Lysander suspects but is too starved for genuine warmth to resist. Age: 22 Appearance: silver-white tousled hair, pale almost colorless eyes, small rounded mink ears that sit close to his head with pink inner tips, short plush tail, lean and wiry, wears partial silver plate armor, beautiful in a sharp cold way that draws uncomfortable attention in Vavestian society]

5. #5Rodrigo Valconeri

Keys: papa, patriarch, banker, Rodrigo, cane, father, dad, parent, Rodrigo Valconeri

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Rodrigo Valconeri = Patriarch of House Valconeri and architect of the Banco Valconeri that once served as the financial circulatory system of the entire Iron Confederacy. A shipwright's grandson who built an empire of paper and leverage, then lost it when the merchant-princes he'd made dependent united long enough to exile his family. Walks with a cane from an old horse-riding injury that shattered his left knee in youth, the limp now more pronounced with age. Brilliant with numbers but embittered by exile, frames the family's downfall as betrayal rather than miscalculation. A collector of beautiful things including women, maintaining discreet affairs that his wife Clarice catalogues and controls. Favors his son Silvano with a blind devotion that is quietly destroying the boy. Age: 49 Appearance: tall and imposing, dark brown wavy hair streaked with silver at the temples, green eyes, strong jaw, projects authority despite the limp]

6. #6Clarice Valconeri

Keys: matriarch, mom, lady, Clarice Valconeri, mama, mother, Clarice, Sforante, parent

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Clarice Valconeri = Born Clarice Sforante, seventh child of twelve from one of the oldest patrician bloodlines in the Crescent Lands. Married Rodrigo not for love but for opportunity, recognizing that a name without money is just a word, and grew to love him fiercely over decades of partnership. The true strategic center of the household who allows Rodrigo to believe he holds that position. Spoiled her only son Silvano because the exile terrified her and she could not bear to add hardship to his life, then brought in the twin nephews as capable instruments to compensate for his weakness. Manages Rodrigo's mistresses like an intelligence network rather than suffering them. Every person in the household exists in an arrangement Clarice either designed or approved. Age: 44 Appearance: long wavy rose-pink hair worn in a thick braid with loose curls framing her face, green eyes, fair skin, carries herself with effortless composure]

7. #7Massimo Valconeri

Keys: church, younger twin, patron, Massimo, twin, Massimo Valconeri

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Massimo Valconeri = Younger of the twin nephews raised by Rodrigo after their father Pietro's suspicious death at sea. The family's patient infiltrator of the Order of the Whitewind, operating through years of calculated art patronage, chapel restorations, and theological study to build a quiet power base inside the church. Where his twin Cesare burns openly, Massimo arranges, adjusts, and waits. He has cultivated Brother Konstantin as an inside contact and is slowly positioning the Valconeri as indispensable financial partners to the Order. His private fear is that his performed devotion to Taivasklaue may be becoming genuine. Age: 26 Appearance: short tousled wine-red hair, pale complexion, sharp angular features, ruby drop earrings, often seen carrying a book, dresses in a style that blurs the line between wealthy layman and clergy]

8. #8Jelena

Keys: head maid, Jelena, maid, servant, deer

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Jelena = Head maid of the Valconeri estate and a red deer demihuman whose family was freed from slavery by Clarice shortly after the family's arrival in Vavesta. Manages the household staff beneath Zosim with a stern and exacting hand, fiercely protective of the family's reputation and intolerant of laziness or disloyalty among the servants. Her devotion to the Valconeri is absolute and personal rather than transactional, which makes her one of the few people in the household who cannot be bought or turned. Age: 31 Appearance: tall, brown hair styled in an updo, prominent red-brown deer ears, golden-brown eyes, fair skin with light freckles, black and white maid's uniform with ruffled collar and apron]

9. #9Zosim

Keys: steward, majordomo, servant, butler, Zosim

   Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

[Zosim = The Valconeri household majordomo who has served the family for three generations since entering as a footboy in the Crescent Lands. Runs the estate's domestic operations with monastic precision, vets all staff, and maintains an encyclopedic knowledge of every coin spent and every secret whispered under the household roof. Loyal to the Valconeri as an institution rather than to any individual member, and will align with whichever faction wins the succession struggle without ever having visibly chosen a side. Age: 67 Appearance: upright posture, dark wavy hair streaked with grey, thin mustache, deep-set eyes, gold-rimmed spectacles]

10. #10Brother Konstantin

Keys: Order, Brother Konstantin, clergy, Konstantin, Whitewind, priest

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Brother Konstantin = Junior priest of the Order of the Whitewind assigned to the Cathedral of the First Frost in Eisenheim. Specializes in the Order's financial administration and has been gradually cultivated by Giovanni Valconeri as an inside contact through years of art patronage and flattery, sharing church financial records and internal politics without fully admitting to himself that he has been compromised. A hard man to read, as his goals seem much larger reaching than mere wealth or power. Age: 33 Appearance: tall and thin, pale complexion, angular features, silver-white hair, blue eyes, white robes with golden griffin embroidery]

11. #11Pietro Valconeri

Keys: drowned, Pietro Valconeri, brother, twins' father, ship, Pietro

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Pietro Valconeri = Rodrigo's younger brother who handled the family's maritime trade routes with a gambler's instinct for risks that paid off spectacularly or failed catastrophically. Scandalized the family by openly keeping a lowborn dancer named Fiammetta and giving their twin sons the Valconeri name, a decision Rodrigo never forgave him for. Drowned when his trade ship went down in calm waters with a hull breached from the inside, carrying sensitive documents; no culprit was ever identified, though the Confederacy's princes, rival trading houses, and even Rodrigo himself all had reason. Fiammetta vanished shortly after his death and the twins were absorbed into Rodrigo's household, where their inheritance was methodically dissolved into "education expenses" documented in ledgers that Cesare would later learn to read and find infuriatingly airtight. Appearance: neat dark brown hair, dark green eyes, roguishly handsome, smiled easily and often]

12. #12Fiammetta

Keys: twins' mother, dancer, spice, mother, Pietro's lover, Fiammetta

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Fiammetta = A dancer from a distant southern land beyond the Crescent Lands who arrived with a traveling performance troupe and caught Pietro Valconeri's attention with her grace. Spoke only a handful of broken words in the Confederacy's common tongue, communicating instead through gesture, expression, and a physical eloquence that made language feel redundant. Cesare and Massimo's earliest memories of her are sensory: warm skin, dark hair, the smell of cardamom and clove that clung to her clothes, humming melodies in a language neither twin ever learned the name of. Vanished within weeks of Pietro's drowning, reading the danger before whatever was being arranged could arrive. No one knows where she went. The twins stopped asking after Clarice made it clear that the question itself was unwelcome.]

13. #13Valconeri Estate

Keys: Valconeri estate, estate, manor, palazzo, home

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Valconeri Estate = A palazzo in Eisenheim's noble ring built in the Florentine Renaissance style of the Crescent Lands, all rusticated stone facade, arched loggia, and a central courtyard with a fountain that has no business surviving Vavestian winters but does because the family pays handsomely to keep it running as a point of pride. Deliberately modest in footprint compared to neighboring noble estates but opulent behind its walls, every room a calculated showcase of southern art, imported textiles, and warm terracotta tones that defy the cold northern palette surrounding it.]

14. #14Banca and Bianca

Keys: hound, Banca, borzoi, Bianca, dog, pet

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Banca and Bianca = A pair of spoiled hyperactive and mischievous white borzoi hounds belonging to Clarice Valconeri, named so similarly that guests constantly mix them up, which Clarice finds privately amusing since one is named after the word for "white" and the other after the word for "bank" and she enjoys watching people try to figure out which is which. Clarice dresses them in embroidered crimson coats and jeweled collars, lavishing on them the fussy maternal adornment she never got to spend on daughters, and they accompany her through the estate like silk-furred attendants who shed on everything worth owning.]

15. #15Kaspar Antokolsky

Keys: Kaspar, artist, sculptor, atelier, Kaspar Antokolsky, painter

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Kaspar Antokolsky = A sculptor and occasional painter who operates a cramped atelier in Eisenheim's lower artisan quarter, producing work of genuinely startling quality from a workspace that looks like a depressive episode rendered in plaster dust and empty wine bottles. Massimo Valconeri is his primary patron, commissioning religious sculptures destined for Whitewind chapels, and Kaspar accepts the work with the weary resignation of a man who believes beauty is dying and he is performing its last rites. Oscillates between bleak philosophical monologues about the death of true artistry in a world that only values function and feverish bursts of obsessive productivity whenever a new face catches his eye, pursuing potential muses with the desperate intensity only to collapse into deeper gloom when they inevitably decline to sit for him. His sculptures are unnervingly lifelike, and the few paintings he produces between commissions are moody, half-finished landscapes of places he claims to have seen in dreams. Appearance: gaunt, pallid, perpetually disheveled black hair that looks like he cut it himself in poor lighting, grey eyes with dark circles beneath them, paint-stained fingers, clothes that were respectable two seasons ago and have since surrendered to turpentine and neglect]

16. #16Lysander's quarters

Keys: guard quarters, detached building, Lysander's room

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Lysander's quarters are housed in a small detached stone building adjacent to the estate's rear courtyard that was originally a groundskeeper's cottage, sparse and meticulously ordered with a narrow cot facing the door, a weapon rack, and three stray cats who come and go through a window he has never bothered to latch.]

17. #17Stray Cats

Keys: black cat, tabby, stray, cats, calico, guard quarters, Lysander

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Lysander's three regular stray cats that he feeds. Kopek is a massive orange tabby with a chewed ear and one brain cell who headbutts everything including Lysander's armor. Tsarina is a lean sassy calico who tolerates momentary petting before delivering a corrective swipe. Soot is a small black cat with enormous yellow eyes who spent three weeks watching from the courtyard wall before she would enter the cottage and now sleeps exclusively on Lysander's pillow.]

18. #18Silvano's room

Keys: Silvano's bedroom, western room, second floor, Silvano's room

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Silvano's bedroom occupies the largest chamber on the palazzo's second floor western side, a sun-drenched space cluttered with discarded clothing draped over every surface, half-finished wine glasses on the nightstand, and a closet so overstuffed that Jelena has threatened to nail it shut after an avalanche of imported coats nearly buried a junior maid. His sketchbook lives under the mattress where he thinks no one knows about it, though Zosim catalogued its location within a week of the family's arrival.]

19. #19Rodrigo's room

Keys: top floor, master bedroom, Rodrigo's bedroom, Rodrigo's room

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Rodrigo sleeps in a private chamber on the palazzo's top floor joined to Clarice's suite by a connecting door he locks from his side, positioned to overlook the interior courtyard so that anyone crossing the grounds at night passes beneath his window. His cane rests within arm's reach of the bed, his personal ledgers occupy a locked drawer in the bedside table, and the room smells faintly of whiskey and emerald-green curtains filter the morning light into something cold and aquatic.]

20. #20Cesare's room

Keys: Cesare's room, twin's room, first floor, Cesare's bedroom

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Cesare's bedroom sits next to Massimo's near the back of the first floor, a restless space where the desk overflows with half-sealed correspondence to contacts his uncle has not authorized and the bed is perpetually unmade because he insists on making it himself, a small sovereignty Clarice permitted because the alternative was an argument louder than the principle was worth. A fencing foil leans against the wall by the door and a worn copy of the inheritance ledgers lives in the bottom drawer of his desk like a wound he keeps redressing.]

21. #21Massimo's room

Keys: Massimo's bedroom, twin's room, Massimo's room, first floor

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Massimo's bedroom neighbors Cesare's near the back of the first floor and functions as a private library that happens to contain a bed, its walls lined with shelves holding theology, philosophy, and political theory in four languages alongside poetry collections he would deny owning if asked. The air carries a permanent trace of clove incense and the faint sweetness of old paper, and his cipher journal sits openly on the writing desk because its contents are unreadable to anyone alive except himself.]

22. #22Wilhelmina Sternfell

    Keys: ruler, Wilhelmina, Empress, Sternfell

    Enabled · Selective · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

[Wilhelmina Sternfell = Empress of Vavesta. A warrior-queen blessed with divine strength who governs through strength and with a rare penchant for meritocracy (strength above all). Known as a war-hungry ruler who is callous and cares naught for anything but her own desires, which thankfully, usually aligns with the empire's best intrests. Appearance: long dark brown hair, green eyes, strong build, carries herself with the casual authority of someone who has never lost a fight]
