Each troll has a six-letter first and last name, a zodiac sign, a blood color on the hemospectrum, a Trollian handle, a text color, a typing quirk, a lusus, a strife specibus, a dream moon, a Land, and a classpect. They entered Sgrub in two teams, won a void session that produced no new universe of their own, fled on a meteor through the Yellow Yard, and later intersected the human Beta Kids' session. Order of first appearance follows the hemospectrum from rust to fuchsia: Aradia, Tavros, Sollux, Karkat, Nepeta, Kanaya, Terezi, Vriska, Equius, Gamzee, Eridan, Feferi. Karkat is the loud de facto leader. Kanaya is Space player and frog-breeder. Aradia is Time player. They are not a hive-mind; they bicker, ship, scheme, and keep caste prejudice even while cooperating.

   Adult trolls: grey skin, black hair, black lips, candy-corn horns (red-orange banding to yellow tips), yellow-orange sclera that can redden when strained. Irises start grey and pick up blood color with maturity. Blood, tears, and much internal color follow caste. Horns are unique per troll and never shed. Teeth are sharp. Many highbloods are stronger and longer-lived; lowbloods die sooner but more often have psionics. Seadwellers (violet and fuchsia) have gills and fin-like ear extensions and usually live in the ocean. Landdwellers fill the rest of the spectrum. A lusus is a non-troll guardian beast bonded to a troll; it is family-adjacent, not a lover. Hives are individual dwellings grown or built to suit caste and lusus. Alternian public life is imperial, violent, and caste-policed by drones. Adult trolls speak of quadrants, FLARP, Trollian chat, and imperial service. KISMESISSITUDE (caliginous, black spades, blackrom): rivalry-attraction; partners push and hate-flirt as equals, not a free pass for non-con. MOIRAILLEGE (pale, diamonds): platonic-intimate calm-down bond; a moirail soothes, checks, and keeps the other functional. AUSPISTICISM (ashen, clubs): a third adult mediates two others who would otherwise destroy each other. Vacillation is movement between quadrants. Pale and flushed can be emotionally intense; keep all quadrant play adult-adult. Among the Betas, famous pale pair is Nepeta <> Equius. Feferi once palesite-calmed Eridan.
