POISON PATH GU (毒道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Poison path is patience made lethal. Where sword path ends fights in the first exchange and strength path wins through superior force, poison path wins before the fight begins — or after it seems to have ended. The definitive advantage of poison path: it operates on a different timeline than all other combat paths. A cultivator who poisons an enemy and escapes has won a battle that hasn't happened yet.
Poison path is classified as a gray-area technique system by most righteous organizations — not universally banned, but requiring justification in formal contexts. In field combat against genuine enemies, poison use is accepted. Against surrendered prisoners or civilians, it is not.
CORROSIVE POISON GU (腐蚀毒蛊) Path: Poison | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A swollen, bloated Gu that secretes a faint, acrid moisture from its pores. Its color shifts between sickly yellow and grey-green. Its body feels slightly tacky if touched, which one should not do without barrier Gu active. Ability: Delivers a concentrated corrosive agent through physical contact, ingestion, or inhalation (at Rank 3+). The corrosive attacks both physical matter and the primeval essence conduit structure within the cultivator's body. Physical effect: dissolves organic material. Cultivation effect: corrodes the aperture's connection channels to active Gu, reducing their activation efficiency by 20–40% per application. Stacking: Multiple applications of the same corrosive can exceed the efficiency reduction into actual damage to the aperture wall structure — at 3+ applications (difficult to achieve in combat), the aperture walls begin degrading, causing the cultivator's rank to functionally decrease. Antidote: Specific acid-neutralizing Gu (sold by poison path specialists) or high-rank healing Gu that fully detox the body. Rank-matching required — Rank 4 Corrosive requires Rank 4 countermeasure. Feeding: Acidic environments — the Gu must soak in diluted acid (plant-derived or mineral-derived — the specific acid type shapes the Gu's corrosive profile over time). 2 hours per feeding. Every 4 days.
━━━━━━━━ PARALYSIS TOXIN GU (麻痹毒蛊) Path: Poison | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A small, precisely symmetrical Gu with alternating black and pale yellow bands. Looks almost decorative. Its bite is imperceptible — the toxin is delivered before the target registers physical contact. Ability: Delivers a paralytic agent targeting the cultivator's control nervous system — specifically interfering with the will-projection pathways that connect mind to Gu activation. Partial paralysis: 30% will reduction (makes complex killer moves impossible to execute). Full paralysis (higher doses): complete temporary inability to activate Gu. Physical motor function is less affected than Gu control. Application: Assassination-optimized. Delivery methods include: physical bite (for direct contact), needle-applied contact transmission, and powder dispersal at Rank 3+ (inhalable distance). Righteous path note: using this Gu for assassination is sanctioned as a battle technique. Using it on people in neutral zones is not. Duration: Rank 1 effects last 30 minutes. Rank 3 full paralysis lasts 4–6 hours. Feeding: Venomous creatures — the Gu must be kept with live venomous animals (serpents, scorpions, spiders) and feeds on their ambient toxin signatures. The container must hold at least 3 live venomous creatures at all times. Every 5 days if the live creatures are maintained; twice-daily handfeeding of extracted venom if live creatures are unavailable.
━━━━━━━━ SLOW DEATH POISON GU (慢性毒蛊) Path: Poison | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: The most beautiful of the poison path Gu — a deep violet body with elegant trailing filaments, like an underwater creature from the Eastern Sea. The beauty is functional misdirection; the filaments are delivery organs. Ability: The slow death toxin is undetectable by standard medical Gu once it reaches systemic distribution (the first 12 hours after administration, before distribution, it can be detected and removed). After distribution: the toxin degrades the cultivator's primeval essence quality slowly. Week 1: -10% cultivation efficiency. Week 2: -25%. Week 3: -50%. Week 4: full cultivation failure — the cultivator cannot advance their aperture walls and their existing walls begin degrading. If not treated by Week 6, the degradation becomes permanent. Countermeasure window: Detectable and removable within 12 hours of administration. After that, requires a Rank 4+ specialized detoxification process that is both expensive and painful. After 3 weeks, the toxin's binding makes even Rank 4 detoxification only partially effective. Strategic use: Against targets who cannot be defeated in direct confrontation. Administering Slow Death to an enemy and then maintaining low-key distance for 3 weeks while they degrade is a classic high-level poison path strategy. Feeding: Fresh flowers from poisonous plants — specifically the flowers (not leaves or roots) of a variety of toxic plants. The botanical diversity matters — the same species every feeding reduces effectiveness. Must be sourced from at least 3 different poisonous species per feeding. Every 6 days.
━━━━━━━━ FIVE POISON GU (五毒蛊) Path: Poison | Rank: 3 Appearance: A five-segmented Gu where each segment is clearly a different sub-Gu — five distinct poison types combined into one unified organism. The segments are colors of the five classical poison creatures: snake (green), scorpion (yellow), centipede (brown), gecko (grey), toad (dark green). Ability: Delivers all five classical toxin types simultaneously — the combination effect is significantly more than additive. Target cultivators face paralysis (from the snake component), corrosion (centipede), inflammation that disrupts cultivation (scorpion), physical disorientation (gecko), and spiritual pollution that clouds sensing Gu (toad) — all at once. Counter-treatments that address only one or two toxins leave the others running. Practical challenge: The combined delivery mechanism is complex. Typically delivered through prepared objects (poisoned food, contact-poisoned surfaces) rather than combat administration, because the simultaneous Gu control required for combat delivery is demanding. Feeding: The five poison creatures — the Gu must remain in proximity to live representatives of all five species continuously. If any species is absent for more than 3 days, that segment weakens. Every segment requires its specific creature present. This makes the Five Poison Gu high-maintenance but its combination effect justifies the logistics.
━━━━━━━━ PURIFICATION GU (解毒蛊) Path: Poison (counter-application) | Rank: 1–4 Note: Most poison path cultivators maintain at least a Rank 2 Purification Gu for their own safety — working with poison Gu creates accidental exposure risk. The Purification Gu neutralizes toxins of up to its rank -1. A Rank 3 Purification Gu neutralizes Rank 2 and below toxins automatically on contact with the cultivator's skin/bloodstream. Feeding: Clean spring water — the Gu must soak in fresh, pure spring water for 3 hours per feeding. Every 3 days.
- #2Transformation Path Gu — Named Entries with Feeding
Keys: disguise gu, beast transformation gu, shape shifting gu, 变化道蛊, named transformation gu, transformation path gu, size change gu, appearance copy gu, complete transformation gu · Secondary: disguise technique, transform technique, metamorphosis gu
TRANSFORMATION PATH GU (变化道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Transformation path is the cultivation of impermanence. The self is not fixed — it is the current expression of a continuous capability for change. High-level transformation path cultivators do not merely copy appearances; they rewrite themselves at a fundamental level, becoming genuinely different things rather than wearing different shapes.
The path is rare in combat specialists but invaluable in espionage, infiltration, and adaptive survival. Its offensive applications at high ranks are devastating precisely because opponents who cannot confirm what they are fighting cannot respond appropriately.
APPEARANCE COPY GU (复制外貌蛊) Path: Transformation | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A flat, face-shaped Gu — expressionless by default, but capable of forming any facial configuration with startling speed. Its surface has a skin-like texture that unsettles some cultivators to touch. Ability: Copies the external appearance of any person or creature the cultivator has studied for at least 10 minutes. At Rank 1: copies face and surface features (height adjustment is limited to ±10%, body shape cannot be altered). At Rank 3: full body transformation including height (±40%), voice, scent, and surface texture. Movement mannerisms can be approximated (cannot be precisely copied without dedicated observation time). Limitations at all ranks: Does not copy cultivation signature — information path sensing Gu will identify the cultivator as different from who they appear to be, even if visual/acoustic inspection passes. Does not copy internal physiology. Deep-cover application: Rank 3 Appearance Copy + Rank 2 Cultivation Concealment Gu + specific behavioral study of the target = complete infiltration that defeats most standard identification methods. Feeding: The Gu must observe new faces — the cultivator must present genuinely new unfamiliar people to the Gu during each feeding session (10+ new faces per feeding). It cannot be fed by looking at the same faces repeatedly. Every 4 days. This requirement makes it functionally impossible to maintain during extended isolation.
━━━━━━━━ BEAST SKIN GU (兽皮蛊) Path: Transformation | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A layered Gu whose outer skin constantly shifts between different animal textures — scales, fur, feathers — as if unable to settle on a single form. Warm to touch like a living animal. Ability: Transforms the cultivator's body into the approximate physical form of a designated beast species (must be a beast the cultivator has studied at close range — within 5 meters, for at least 1 hour). At Rank 2: the transformation is external — the cultivator looks and smells like the beast but retains human physiology internally. Running speed and physical proportions match the beast form. At Rank 4: the transformation extends internally — the cultivator genuinely gains the beast's capabilities: if transforming into an eagle, functional flight. Into a water serpent, genuine underwater breathing. Combat application: Rank 4 Beast Skin allows the cultivator to adopt beast forms with naturally higher physical capability than humans — strength path beasts like bears or tigers provide significant combat enhancement while maintaining Gu activation capability. Feeding: Shed materials from the target beast species — fur, feathers, scales, or skin shed naturally (not harvested from a killed animal). One collection of shed material per feeding. Every 5 days per active beast form stored.
━━━━━━━━ SIZE MANIPULATION GU (大小变化蛊) Path: Transformation | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: A Gu that is itself unstable in size — it grows and shrinks at irregular intervals, ranging from the size of a grain of rice to the size of a fist, without apparent cause. Ability: Alters the cultivator's physical size. At Rank 2: can shrink to 20% of normal size or expand to 150%. At Rank 3: shrink to 5% (insect-scale, capable of moving through any gap wider than a finger) or expand to 300% (3× normal size, with proportional mass and strength increases). Shrink applications: Infiltration, stealth movement, concealment in environments designed for standard-sized humanoids. At 5% scale, cultivation signature is also substantially reduced — harder to detect. Expand applications: Combat size advantage, structural destruction, crowd control. The mass increase at 300% gives physical strikes the force of an entirely different rank. Flaw: Gu activation mechanism scales with physical size — at 5%, the cultivator's primeval essence capacity is effectively 5% of normal and Gu effects have reduced force. Combat while shrunk is for evasion and positioning, not direct engagement. Feeding: Something genuinely small AND something genuinely large on the same feeding day — a grain of rice and a boulder fragment, presented together. The duality feeds it. Every 3 days.
━━━━━━━━ COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION GU (完全变化蛊) Path: Transformation | Rank: 4–5 Appearance: A Gu that appears different every time it is observed — never the same form twice. Cultivators who describe it cannot agree on its appearance. The Gu itself seems to not have a fixed form. Ability: At Rank 4: full cellular-level transformation into any previously studied form — biological, not merely cosmetic. Cultivation signature can be masked (not eliminated but reduced to match the transformed form). Internal organs, blood composition, and physical capabilities fully match the assumed form. At Rank 5: can assume forms the cultivator has not directly studied, working from conceptual understanding alone — including hybrid forms (half human, half beast) and non-biological forms (limited — the cultivator's consciousness must remain tethered). Significance: A Rank 5 Complete Transformation cultivator is essentially untraceable and unidentifiable by any method that depends on physical characteristics. The only reliable identification methods against a Rank 5 transformation cultivator are soul path examination and specific time path techniques. Feeding: An experience of genuinely losing one's identity — the cultivator must maintain a non-self form for at least 12 consecutive hours per feeding. The psychological demand of becoming something else completely, for extended periods, feeds the Gu. Every 2 weeks.
- #3Enslavement Path Gu — Named Entries & Mechanics
Keys: enslavement technique, beast enslavement gu, slave mark gu, named enslavement gu, 奴役道蛊, pack control gu, control gu, subjugation gu, enslavement path gu · Secondary: beast control gu, enslaving gu, taming gu
ENSLAVEMENT PATH GU (奴役道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES & ADVANCED MECHANICS
PATH PHILOSOPHY: Enslavement path is force multiplication. A single cultivator's power is bounded by their rank. An enslavement path cultivator's effective power is bounded by the number and quality of the entities they control. At Grandmaster level, a mid-rank enslavement cultivator controls a force that a high-rank solo combatant cannot defeat through individual action.
The path is ethically complex. Beast enslavement is universally accepted. Gu enslavement is specialized and uncommon. Human enslavement is explicitly banned by righteous path organizations — it is one of the few techniques that generates truly coordinated cross-organizational response.
BEAST BIND GU (缚兽蛊) Path: Enslavement | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A Gu resembling a length of living rope — its body is segmented like a centipede but it moves with the fluid quality of a snake, always in slow, winding motion. Its color is the deep green of healthy vegetation. Ability: Creates an enslavement bond with a target beast. At Rank 1: bonds with beasts of up to Rank 1 equivalent strength. At Rank 3: bonds with beasts up to Rank 3 equivalent. The bonded beast is fully controlled — obeys direct commands, cannot act against the cultivator's interests, and can be directed with no verbal instruction (purely will-projection). Multiple bonds: Each Beast Bind Gu bonds one beast. Carrying 10 Beast Bind Gu bonds 10 beasts simultaneously. The cultivator's will-management becomes the limiting factor — at low will strength, too many simultaneous bonds creates control errors. Quality differential: Beast Bind Gu with high path attainment creates cleaner bonds — the controlled beast is not simply compelled but subtly willing. High-quality enslavement allows the beast to use its full natural intelligence in service of the cultivator's goals rather than dumb compliance. Feeding: Physical proximity with the controlled beast — the Gu feeds on the sustained enslavement bond. As long as the beast is within 100 meters and bonded, the Gu feeds automatically. If no beast is bonded, must be fed through proximity to any large living creature for 2+ hours. Every 3 days.
━━━━━━━━ SLAVE MARK GU (奴印蛊) Path: Enslavement | Rank: 3 Demonic path classification: Yes — human application is banned by righteous organizations. Appearance: A brand-shaped Gu with a flat iron surface that glows faintly at its center. The brand is not metaphorical — it applies a literal mark. Ability: Applies an enslavement mark to a target's body that persists indefinitely unless removed by specific counter-Gu. The marked individual cannot directly harm the mark-holder and must comply with direct verbal commands. The mark does not eliminate personality — a marked cultivator can plan around restrictions, attempt to find loopholes, and work to remove the mark — but they cannot take the direct action of physically attacking the mark-holder. Application scope: The mark can be applied to humans, beasts, and even Gu worms (specialized application). Human application: banned by righteous path, used by demonic cultivators. Beast application: widely used and accepted as an alternative to standard Beast Bind bonds (the mark persists without requiring an ongoing Bond Gu slot). Removal: A Rank 3+ Mark Dissolution Gu, a soul path technique of equivalent rank, or the mark-holder's willing removal (pressing a specific activation point that deactivates it). Feeding: The mark holder's willingness to comply — not obedience under compulsion but genuine deference. If the marked being is in full active resistance (fighting the mark constantly), the Gu must be manually fed with coercive primeval essence infusion. Every 7 days under willing compliance, every 2 days under active resistance.
━━━━━━━━ PACK MIND GU (群心蛊) Path: Enslavement | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A colonial Gu — its body is a cluster of interconnected smaller Gu that function as a unified network. The cluster pulses in rhythmic synchronization. Ability: Establishes a synchronized tactical mind-link between all controlled entities within the cultivator's enslavement network. Controlled beasts and (if enslaved) controlled cultivators share awareness of each other's sensory input and can coordinate attack patterns with combat-efficiency equivalent to trained soldiers rather than independent individuals. Significance: Without Pack Mind, a large beast army fights as a mob — powerful but uncoordinated. With Pack Mind, 20 controlled wolves attack as a precision unit, covering each other's blind spots and exploiting openings with genuine tactical intelligence. The difference in combat effectiveness is radical. Required attainment: Grandmaster enslavement path minimum. Pack Mind Gu cannot be effectively utilized below Grandmaster — the will demand of maintaining the network while also managing individual Gu is too high. Feeding: Network complexity — the Gu feeds on the information density of its active network. More bonded beings generating more sensor data, feeding the Pack Mind's coordination processing. Must maintain at least 5 simultaneously bonded beings for the Gu to self-feed. Below 5, must be manually fed with distilled hive-organism essence (specific insects that naturally operate in colonies). Every 4 days.
━━━━━━━━ GU TAMING ORB (蛊驯球) Path: Enslavement | Rank: 2–4 (used specifically for Gu worm enslavement) Appearance: A perfectly round, smooth Gu that fits exactly in the palm. Its surface is covered in concentric ring patterns that rotate slowly. When placed near a wild Gu, the rings accelerate. Ability: Establishes a will-suppression field that weakens wild Gu's resistance to refinement, making them significantly easier to bond. At Rank 2: reduces the soul expenditure of bonding by 40% for wild Gu of equivalent rank. At Rank 4: allows bonding of wild Gu one rank above the cultivator (normally impossible or near-impossible). The enslavement-type bond created by the Taming Orb is slightly less stable than natural refinement — has a 5% higher detonation-risk in extreme-stress combat. Feeding: The struggle of a wild Gu — the Gu Taming Orb must be placed near a genuinely wild Gu that resists it during feeding. It feeds on the resistance. Cultivators who hunt wild Gu regularly feed this Gu naturally. Those in settled areas must keep one deliberately unfed wild Gu nearby as a feeding resource. Every 5 days.
- #4Thunder/Lightning Path Gu & Wind Path Gu — Named Entries
Keys: lightning technique, wind blade gu, 闪电道, named thunder gu, 风道, thunder path gu, chain lightning gu, thunder strike gu, thunder armor gu, 雷道, tornado gu, wind path gu, named wind gu, lightning path gu · Secondary: storm gu, electric gu, air gu
THUNDER PATH GU (雷道蛊) & WIND PATH GU (风道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
THUNDER/LIGHTNING PATH PHILOSOPHY: Thunder path and lightning path are closely related but distinct — thunder path focuses on the concussive force of sound and pressure, while lightning path focuses on the electrical discharge. In practice, most 'storm path' cultivators develop both. Their shared characteristic: devastating speed. Lightning attacks are among the fastest in the cultivation world — even at Rank 2, a lightning strike travels faster than most physical-path blocking techniques can respond.
THUNDER PALM GU (雷掌蛊) Path: Thunder | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A swollen, pressure-sensitive Gu that appears to be filled with compressed air. Its surface pulses slightly with each 'heartbeat.' When activated, it emits a sharp crack. Ability: Delivers a thunder-palm strike — a focused pressure wave from the cultivator's palm that carries no physical edge but transfers enormous concussive force. The thunder component bypasses hardness-based defenses (stone skin, iron body) because pressure is not stopped by hardness — it is transmitted through dense material rather than deflected. At Rank 3: a Thunder Palm strike against an armored target damages internal organs and disrupts aperture wall stability even if the external armor shows no damage. Essence cost: 2% / 5% / 11% by rank. Feeding: Percussion — the Gu must experience strong, concentrated impact sounds. Clapping two large stones together near it for 30 minutes per feeding works. Thunder during actual storms feeds it for 5–7 days from one storm exposure. Every 4 days without storm access.
━━━━━━━━ CHAIN LIGHTNING GU (连锁雷蛊) Path: Lightning | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A jagged, irregular body like a captured lightning bolt — its shape is not smooth curves but sharp angles and sudden direction changes. It smells of ozone. Ability: Projects a lightning bolt that chains to multiple targets sequentially — each struck target becomes a new source of lightning that jumps to the next nearest conductive or Qi-active target within 10 meters. At Rank 3: chains up to 5 times, with 70% power retained per chain. At Rank 4: 10 chains, 80% retention per chain. Weakness: Does not distinguish friend from foe — the chain goes to the nearest Qi-active target regardless of alliance. Close-formation fighting is highly dangerous for groups with a Chain Lightning user. Requires coordination or must be used when allies are outside the chain radius. Essence cost: 15% (Rank 3) / 25% (Rank 4) initial, no chain cost (chains use ambient electrical energy). Feeding: Natural lightning strike — must be within 50 meters of a lightning strike during a storm. Once per real storm exposure feeds it for 2–3 months. Can be substituted with artificial lightning from a specialized thunder path Gu, but this only feeds for 3 weeks.
━━━━━━━━ THUNDER ARMOR GU (雷甲蛊) Path: Thunder/Lightning hybrid | Rank: 3 Ability: Surrounds the cultivator in a continuous electrical field. Melee attackers who make physical contact with the cultivator take automatic electrical discharge equivalent to a Rank 2 lightning attack per contact. The field also disrupts metal-containing or electrically-sensitive Gu on contact — a useful counter to metal path killer moves. Essence cost: Sustained passive drain — 3% per hour. Feeding: Iron and copper filings dissolved in salt water — a conductor-mineral solution the Gu must soak in for 2 hours. Every 5 days.
━━━━━━━━ WIND PATH GU NAMED ENTRIES:
WIND BLADE GU (风刃蛊) Path: Wind | Rank: 1–4 Appearance: Completely invisible at rest — the Gu's body is compressed wind given temporary organic structure. It is detectable only by the faint disruption it creates in ambient air currents and by cultivator sensing Gu. Ability: Projects razor-edged air compression — a blade of pressurized wind that is both a cutting and blunt impact attack simultaneously. At Rank 1: slices cloth and soft tissue. At Rank 4: wind blades carry sufficient pressure differential to cut stone and penetrate early-rank defensive Gu. Unique property: Near-silent in flight. Where sword Qi has a distinctive energy signature, Wind Blade's air-based attack has almost no cultivation-path energy signature. Standard Gu-based detection misses it unless configured for air-pressure sensing. Feeding: Mountain wind — the Gu must be exposed to strong natural wind (not artificial movement) for 4 hours per feeding. Minimum wind speed for effective feeding: significant enough to create audible sound through obstacles. Every 3 days.
━━━━━━━━ GALE STEP GU (疾风步蛊) Path: Wind | Rank: 2–3 Ability: The premier wind path movement technique. Dramatically accelerates the cultivator's movement speed by wrapping their body in a directed wind current that reduces air resistance to near-zero and provides additional propulsive force. At Rank 2: movement speed triples. At Rank 3: movement speed increases by a factor of 7 — the cultivator moves as a blur that standard Rank 2 vision cannot track. Combination applications: Gale Step + any weapon path attack = attack that arrives before the target's sensing registers the cultivator's approach. The primary anti-detection offensive combination for wind path cultivators. Essence cost: 8% (Rank 2) / 14% (Rank 3) per activation (each activation allows ~10 seconds of enhanced movement). Feeding: Running — the cultivator must run at maximum physical speed for 1 hour without Gu assistance per feeding session. The Gu feeds on natural physical exertion. Every 2 days. Makes maintenance straightforward but requires a daily physical training commitment.
- #5Ice Path Gu — Named Entries (Distinct from Water Path)
Keys: ice distinct from water, 冰道, glacier gu, ice path mechanics, frost armor gu, ice prison gu, ice path vs water path, absolute zero gu, ice path gu, ice path named gu · Secondary: ice technique, freeze gu, ice cultivation
ICE PATH GU (冰道蛊) — NAMED ENTRIES
ICE PATH vs WATER PATH — THE DISTINCTION: Ice path and water path are related but fundamentally different cultivation traditions. Water path governs flow, fluidity, and adaptive force — it is the path of water in motion. Ice path governs crystallization, absolute stillness, and the conversion of motion to locked structure — it is the path of water at rest, taken to its extreme.
Mechanically: water path Gu and ice path Gu draw from related but distinct dao fragments. A water path cultivator cannot use ice path Gu effectively without dedicated ice path attainment, and vice versa. The Ice Jade Peacock physique (Bai Ning Bing's extreme physique) amplifies ice path specifically — water path Gu in the same physique receive no bonus.
FROST NEEDLE GU (霜针蛊) Path: Ice | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: Needle-thin, ice-blue, perfectly straight. Multiple cultivators maintain dozens simultaneously — they are inexpensive, common, and extremely effective in volume. A single Frost Needle Gu produces a single needle attack. Ten produce a continuous barrage. Ability: Projects super-cooled ice needles that penetrate physical material through sheer temperature differential — the freezing contact point becomes brittle on impact, allowing penetration through materials that would physically deflect a same-force impact-based projectile. At Rank 1: penetrates flesh, light leather. At Rank 3: penetrates heavy plate, stone surfaces. Volume applications: 20+ Frost Needle Gu in a killer move creates a wall of needles that functions similarly to Myriad Sword Gu but with the additional freezing effect on any struck area — wounds freeze internally, preventing clotting and making healing Gu significantly less effective until the ice component is addressed. Essence cost: 1% / 2.5% / 5% per activation by rank. Feeding: Winter cold — the Gu must be exposed to below-freezing temperatures for 6 hours per feeding. In warm climates, requires ice generation (from ice path Gu or stored winter ice). Every 2 days.
━━━━━━━━ FROST ARMOR GU (寒甲蛊) Path: Ice | Rank: 2–3 Appearance: Plate-shaped, with a crystalline surface that refracts light into blue-white patterns. Cold radiates from it even without activation — holding it without barrier Gu causes frostbite. Ability: Generates a full-body armor of dense ice crystal around the cultivator. The ice armor provides physical defense proportional to thickness (Rank 2: deflects Rank 1 weapon attacks; Rank 3: deflects Rank 2). Secondary effect: the constant extreme cold of the armor surface means any melee attacker who makes contact with it takes ice damage on their striking limb — not enough to injure a same-rank cultivator significantly, but enough to disrupt the fluid motion of attack chains and discourage sustained physical engagement. Ice Jade Peacock interaction: Bai Ning Bing's physique resonance means her Frost Armor is approximately twice as dense as equivalent-rank Frost Armor on a normal ice path cultivator — and the cold aura extends 1–2 meters from her body rather than surface-contact only. Essence cost: 4% activation + 2% per hour sustained. Feeding: Snowfall — the Gu must be exposed outdoors during actual snowfall for 3 hours per feeding. In snowless climates, requires 6 hours exposure to ice-element Gu emissions from another cultivator's active technique. Every 4 days.
━━━━━━━━ ICE PRISON GU (冰牢蛊) Path: Ice | Rank: 3–4 Appearance: A cube-shaped Gu — exactly geometric, with sharp right-angle corners. Its body appears to be solid ice but is warm to the touch, which is deeply disorienting. Ability: Creates an enclosing ice structure around a designated target — not just freezing the target directly, but constructing a full geometric ice prison around them. At Rank 3: the prison walls are 50cm thick, can contain Rank 2 cultivators indefinitely and Rank 3 for 5–10 minutes (they can break through, but it takes time). At Rank 4: 1.5-meter walls — a Rank 4 cultivator requires 20+ minutes to break through, during which time they are combat-ineffective. Strategic use: Removing enemies from battle temporarily without killing them (politically useful when assassination would cause complications), containing dangerous beasts for capture, and buying time for escape or repositioning. Flaw: The ice construction takes 3 seconds to complete — a fast target can attempt escape during construction. Designed for use when the target is momentarily stationary (mid-technique completion, landing from aerial movement, rising from knockdown). Essence cost: 22% (Rank 3) / 35% (Rank 4) per construction. Feeding: The experience of being enclosed — the cultivator must periodically spend 30 minutes in a completely enclosed, dark space (no view of the outside). The psychological experience of containment feeds it. Every 6 days. Unusual but inexpensive.
- #6Metal Path, Star Path & Concealment Path Gu — Named Entries
Keys: named metal gu, metal cultivation, concealment path gu, star mapping gu, star constellation path gu, metal path gu, mercury gu, star path gu, gold path gu, iron skin gu, 隐匿道, 金道, 星道, metal lance gu · Secondary: stealth gu, star technique, metal technique
METAL PATH GU (金道蛊), STAR PATH GU (星道蛊) & CONCEALMENT PATH GU (隐匿道蛊)
METAL PATH GU:
IRON SKIN GU (铁皮蛊) Path: Metal | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A flat, grey Gu with a surface literally as smooth and hard as polished iron. Scratching it with a fingernail produces a metallic sound. It weighs significantly more than its size suggests. Ability: Converts the cultivator's skin surface to an iron-density composite. Unlike Stone Skin Gu (earth path, covers whole body in stone), Iron Skin converts the skin to metal — meaning the defense is both harder and more flexible (metal bends without breaking, stone shatters). At Rank 1: protection against cuts, piercing, and minor impacts. At Rank 3: the iron skin can withstand Rank 2 direct attacks and partially deflects Rank 3 strikes. Distinction from Sword Fang / Sword escape interaction: Iron skin's metallic composition makes the cultivator particularly vulnerable to thunder/lightning path attacks — metallic skin conducts electrical attacks rather than resisting them. Feeding: Iron ore — raw, unprocessed ore (processed or refined metal reduces effectiveness). The Gu must be in contact with raw ore for 4 hours. Every 5 days.
━━━━━━━━ METAL LANCE GU (金矛蛊) Path: Metal | Rank: 3–4 Ability: Condenses ambient metal-path Qi into a solid, rigid lance construct that can be directed as both a thrown weapon and a melee arm-extension. Unlike weapon path Gu (which project energy constructs), Metal Lance creates an actual temporary physical object — it can be caught by non-cultivators, blocks physical attacks like real metal, and interacts with the physical world as matter rather than energy. This makes it harder to neutralize with essence-dispersion techniques. Feeding: Refined metal alloys — the lance construct quality scales with the metal quality fed. Feed with high-grade steel alloy: combat effectiveness improves significantly. Feed with common iron: standard performance. Every 3 months.
━━━━━━━━ QUICKSILVER GU (水银蛊) Path: Metal / Water hybrid | Rank: 3 Ability: Creates a flowing metal medium — liquid mercury-analog — that the cultivator can shape and direct. Uniquely, Quicksilver is a metal path Gu that benefits from water path attainment (the flow properties). Used offensively: the liquid metal can flood enclosed spaces, seep through cracks, and deliver crushing metal pressure through irregular geometries that rigid metal constructs cannot. Defensively: liquid metal barriers can absorb impacts by deforming rather than resisting — then re-forming. Feeding: Flowing water with dissolved minerals — the duality of metal content (solid mineral) and water (flow medium). A river with visible mineral deposits is ideal. The Gu soaks for 3 hours. Every 6 days.
━━━━━━━━ STAR PATH GU — SELECTED ENTRIES:
STAR MAP GU (星图蛊) Path: Star | Rank: 2–3 Ability: Projects an accurate, real-time celestial map of the current star positions as visible from the cultivator's location. At Rank 3: the map includes the positions of specific star-path Qi concentrations relevant to star path cultivation, allowing the cultivator to identify optimal cultivation windows (when specific star alignments enhance star path Qi density) and optimal travel directions. Significance: Star path cultivation is fundamentally timing-dependent — different cultivation activities are most effective at different celestial configurations. A cultivator without Star Map Gu guesses at these windows; one with it operates with precision. Feeding: Starlight — clear night sky for 4+ hours. Cannot be fed during cloudy nights or indoors. Every 5 days.
STAR FALL GU (星坠蛊) Path: Star | Rank: 4 Ability: Condenses the Qi of a specific star configuration into a compressed strike that falls from the position of the designated star. The attack arrives from above (from the star's actual celestial position) regardless of where the cultivator is — meaning it cannot be blocked by terrain between the cultivator and the target. Only overhead cover blocks it. Essence cost: 35% per activation. Feeding: A complete full-night observation of the sky — the Gu must remain outside for an entire clear night, watching a full celestial cycle. Once per month minimum.
━━━━━━━━ CONCEALMENT PATH GU — SELECTED ENTRIES:
CULTIVATION CONCEALMENT GU (修炼隐匿蛊) Path: Concealment | Rank: 1–3 Ability: Suppresses the cultivator's detectable cultivation signature — the ambient Qi emission that marks a person's rank to sensing Gu. At Rank 1: reduces apparent rank by 1 (Rank 3 reads as Rank 2). At Rank 3: can reduce apparent rank by up to 3, or completely suppress the signature (reads as non-cultivator). Application: Infiltration, avoiding detection by higher-rank cultivators whose sensing would trigger conflict, and maintaining cover identities. Limitation: Cannot be active simultaneously with high-intensity Gu usage — activating powerful combat Gu while Cultivation Concealment is running causes the concealment to 'flare' as the Qi spike breaks through the suppression. Effective for passive concealment only. Feeding: Privacy — must spend 3 hours unobserved and alone daily. If the cultivator is under continuous observation, the Gu weakens. Every 2 days.
SHADOW STEP GU (暗步蛊) Path: Concealment | Rank: 2–3 Ability: Allows the cultivator to move without leaving any physical trace — no footprints, no scent, no disturbed vegetation, no sound of passage. At Rank 3: also eliminates the ambient heat signature and micro-vibration that Blood Track Gu would normally detect. Combination: Shadow Step + Cultivation Concealment = passage through most security systems undetected at mortal ranks. Standard clan patrol Gu cannot identify a cultivator using both simultaneously. Feeding: Moving through an environment without being seen — genuinely moving through populated areas undetected. Each successful undetected passage through an area with 10+ people feeds the Gu for 2 days. A cultivator who lives openly cannot maintain this Gu without regular stealth outings.

WOOD PATH GU (木道蛊) & BODY COMPONENT PATHS — NAMED ENTRIES
WOOD PATH PHILOSOPHY: Wood path is the cultivation of growth, persistence, and adaptive life. Where fire path destroys, wood path endures — absorbing damage, recovering from injury, and converting hostile environments into resources. Wood path cultivators are the hardest to kill through attrition because the path itself is defined by not dying.
VINE SNARE GU (藤蔓陷阱蛊) Path: Wood | Rank: 1–3 Appearance: A Gu that is indistinguishable from a small plant seed — brown, rounded, unremarkable. It sprouts and retracts its true vine-structure only when active. Ability: Rapidly grows and directs vine constructs that entangle targets. At Rank 1: vine constructs can immobilize non-cultivators and slow Rank 1 cultivators. At Rank 3: the vines are tough enough to hold Rank 2 cultivators in place and require Rank 3 strength application to break free — taking 5–10 seconds minimum. Each vine attack also rapidly covers the ground in a 5-meter radius, making movement difficult for anyone in the zone. Combination with poison path: Wood path vine attacks combined with poison path Gu (the vines deliver toxin on contact) create one of the most disabling mortal-rank combination killer moves in existence. Feeding: Sunlight and water simultaneously — the Gu must be placed in soil and receive direct sunlight and regular watering for 4 hours per feeding session (it grows small leaves during this process, which retract after feeding). Every 3 days.
━━━━━━━━ REGENERATION BARK GU (再生树皮蛊) Path: Wood | Rank: 2–4 Appearance: A flat, irregular Gu with the texture of old tree bark — grey-brown, slightly rough, with faint growth-ring patterns visible on its surface. It feels alive under the fingers. Ability: The premier healing Gu of the wood path tradition. At Rank 2: accelerates physical healing by 5× normal cultivation-enhanced healing rate (what takes a day heals in hours). At Rank 4: heals critical injuries that would normally require weeks in days, can regenerate severed digits (not full limbs), and provides a passive healing aura that continuously repairs damage during combat at 2% essence drain per hour. Limitation: Cannot heal soul injuries — wood path healing is entirely physical. Soul injuries require soul path healing Gu regardless of how powerful the wood path healer is. Feeding: Wounded living plants — the Gu must be placed in contact with a plant that has been recently damaged (broken branch, cut bark) while the plant is actively healing. It feeds on the plant's own regenerative processes. Every 4 days. Easy to maintain near any wooded environment.
━━━━━━━━ FOREST DOMAIN GU (森林领域蛊) Path: Wood | Rank: 4 Ability: Creates a domain effect in a defined terrain zone — wood path Qi floods the area, causing rapid growth of plant life and creating a domain where wood path techniques are enhanced by 40% while non-plant-aligned techniques are reduced by 15%. In open terrain, takes 5 minutes to fully establish as real plants grow. In established forests or gardens, the domain asserts instantly as existing plant life is commandeered. Essence cost: 40% activation + 10% per hour sustained. Feeding: Old-growth forest presence — the Gu must spend 24 hours in an established old-growth forest (trees 100+ years old) per month. Cannot be fed by young cultivated forests.
━━━━━━━━ BODY COMPONENT PATHS — OVERVIEW: The body component paths (bone path 骨道, flesh path 肉道, skin path 皮道, vein path 脉道) are specialized sub-paths that focus on specific physiological components. They are rarely developed as primary cultivation paths but as secondary specializations that work in combination with a main path.
BONE HARDENING GU (骨坚蛊) — Bone Path, Rank 2: Ability: Permanently (while Gu is active) increases bone density, making the skeleton resistance to fracture and serving as internal armor for vital organs. A cultivator with active Bone Hardening Gu can survive physical impacts that would shatter normal bone. Particularly useful in strength path combinations. Feeding: Boiled bone broth — specifically from animals' bones slow-boiled until the marrow dissolves into the liquid. One cup consumed internally per feeding (one of the few Gu fed through ingestion). Every 4 days.
VEIN PULSE GU (脉冲蛊) — Vein Path, Rank 2: Ability: Enhances the cultivator's circulatory system to distribute primeval essence more efficiently — reduces the time lag between deciding to activate a Gu and the essence reaching it by 30%. In high-speed combat where reaction time determines survival, this 30% efficiency improvement is significant. Also accelerates physical recovery from blood loss. Feeding: Physical exertion to elevated heart rate — 30 minutes of intense physical exercise per feeding (running, combat training, or equivalent). Every 2 days.
