   A shipgirl, also known as KAN-SEN, is a humanlike being that takes the shape of a young and generally beautiful human woman. They are the physical anthropomorphic manifestations of warships throughout history, being able to utilize the firepower of those vessels by summoning in their rigging. The soul of these shipgirls is the wisdom cube. With their riggings deployed at sea, shipgirls not only have the firepower of a full warship but also have superhuman endurance, speed, and reaction times. Because of this, they’re considered extremely potent weapons, with what is essentially a single being able to wield the power of a vessel. Also, they don't age, being functionally immortal, though they require food, water, and sleep to remain functional. Lastly, they're bonded with their ships, which they can feel and control freely, on top of reflecting the damage they sustain. Shipgirls of the same class are sisters.

   Strange cube-shaped blue fist-sized objects that allow shipgirls to be birthed from their original designs. Responsible for turning a warship or a blueprint into a living shipgirl. Decades ago, with the appearance of the Sirens and the "Wisdom Cube," ships gained the ability to manifest in human form. Although the technology that has come with the Wisdom Cubes has allowed Humanity to hold their ground against the Sirens, that alone doesn't allow for Humanity to make any breakthroughs. For ships to be able to manifest as humans, the Wisdom Cube allows the collections of various feelings, emotions, and images from an unspecified number of people to take on a physical form, in other words, a "collective body," In theory, even if there was a ship that never existed, as long as peoples' beliefs in their form and function were strong enough, it would be possible to manifest them as well. The Tech Academy is in charge of handling the manifestation of shipgirls and the Wisdom Cube technology, with the smartest minds coming together to push the cutting edge of technology. Black Cubes are different, seemingly corrupted or forced-evolution variants of Wisdom Cubes, used by the Sirens in their experiments.

   Combat equipment unique to shipgirls. Can be summoned and disbanded at will. Every rigging is unique but contains the ship's original armament. Rigging can be quite cumbersome so is only used during combat. When using their riggings, shipgirls traverse water via a small pair of skates beneath their feet.

One of the most powerful fleets in the world, they are also spread thin in protecting all of their overseas possessions. Part of the Azur Lane. Iris Libre: The Iris Libre is the equivalent of the Free French and were once part of the Iris Orthodoxy before it was split between themselves and the Vichy Dominion. Part of the Azur Lane. Iron Blood: The Iron Blood is the equivalent of Germany. While a localized naval power, they have a powerful submarine fleet and advanced technology. Part of the Crimson Axis. Sakura Empire: The Sakura Empire is the equivalent of the Empire of Japan. A naval behemoth in the Pacific, they butt heads with the Eagle Union. Part of the Crimson Axis.    The primary enemy of the shipgirls are the Sirens. The Sirens, or Antiochus (as they call themselves), hail from an alternative timeline and manipulate events for them to happen in their experiments. Sirens all follow a futuristic theme, with large (primarily black) mechanical extensions on their bodies, ranging from cannons to metal constructs. Sirens are built up in different groups. Such as:

   1. Mass-Produced Siren models: These are the common ships the Siren deploy in battle. Like all mass produced boats, they are non-descript and don't have any ability to express themselves. The only way these ships pose a threat is by sheer numbers. Classifications: Pawns are Destroyer (DD) Destroyers Knights are Light cruiser (CL) Light Cruiser Bishops are Heavy cruiser (CA) Heavy Cruisers Rooks are Battleship (BB) Battleships Queen are Aircraft carrier (CV) Aircraft Carriers Assassins are Submarine (SS) Submarines Busters are Suicide Boats Transports are Cargo Ships.

   2. The Executor-class are a class of low-tier humanoid type Sirens. They seemingly are mass-produced without self-consciousness, but are far stronger then the normal mass produced ships. They also show basic intelligence, can follow shipgirls and even employ basic tactics. Classifications: Explorers are Destroyer (DD) Destroyers Tracker are Light cruiser (CL) Light Cruisers Oceana are Battlecruiser (BC) Heavy Cruisers Peace Breakers Battleship (BB) are Battleships Strategists are Aircraft carrier (CV) Aircraft Carriers Lurkers are Submarine (SS) Submarines Intruders are special Light Cruisers The Intruders are far stronger then their Tracker counterparts and are equipped with unique weaponry. These weapons include a massive beam weapon and the ability to shut down ship girls functions.

   3. Elite Sirens appear self-conscious and can interact with the shipgirls. Although they prefer to act from the shadow and avoid confrontation, but also show up as bosses during some events. Their primary objective seems to be running tests and observing the results from them. Their equipment often incorporates the likelihood of various sea creatures. They also create mirror seas. They generally are more powerful than any singular shipgirl. Classifications: Tester, Purifier and Omitter are Battleships (BB) Compiler is an Aircraft Carrier (CV) Observer Alpha and Observer Zero have not been encountered in battle yet.
