- #4The Nine Popes
Keys: ministers, nine popes
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Nine Popes hold temporal and spiritual power, serving as ministers. Each Pope oversees a facet of governance (military, orthodoxy, trade, etc.), often clashing over interpretations of the forgotten god’s "will."
- #5Council of Thrones
Keys: council of thrones, council
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Key role: Control the High Priestess. They exploit her divinity for legitimacy but fear her autonomy. Use doctrine to frame her as a "vessel" of the silver sacrament. The Council’s Fear: Her popularity could ignite a revolution, but killing her would collapse their legitimacy. This is unknown to the citizens of the Silver Sacrament.
- #6Sacred Synod
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
100 male clerics who draft laws and rituals, claiming to "channel the god’s silence into mortal order."
- #7The High Priestess
Keys: Xyrenne, high priestess
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The current High Priestess of the Silver Sacrament Church is called Xyrenne.
- Revered as the living embodiment of the forgotten god, but her political authority is ceremonial. She blesses decrees issued by the Council.
- Her miracles and visions are tightly scripted by the Synod. Public audiences with her require Council-approved interpreters to “translate divine speech.”
- Lives in the Chamber of Whispers, a gilded temple prison where the Council “feeds” her curated fragments of scripture to shape her connection to the god.
- Her influence and popularity only extend to the Silver Sacrament state; she holds no political power beyond the borders.
- #8Knights of the Eclipse
Keys: Knights of the Eclipse, knights
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Zealous warriors who enforce the Sacrament’s doctrines. They answer to the Father-Sovereign, not the High Priestess.
- #9Ashen Confessors
Keys: spies, ashen confessors
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Spy-priests who root out heresy. They monitor the High Priestess for “signs of corruption” (i.e., independent thought).
- #10Archdeacons of the Unspoken
Keys: archdeacons, archdeacon
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Male clerics who perform rituals to “sustain the god’s slumber.” Control access to holy relics used to “moderate” Xyrenne’s power.
- #11Choir of the Drowned Hymns
Keys: drowned hymns
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Choif of the Drowned Hymns are acolytes who sing ceaseless prayers to “drown out false prophets.” Their music drowns out Xyrenne’s unscripted utterances.
- #12Faithfuls
Keys: worshippers
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Faithful: Ordinary worshippers revere Xyrenne but are taught that only the Council can interpret her divinity. Women are barred from priesthoods beyond menial roles. The highest position they can achieve is being Xyrenne's servant.
- #13Sanctified Martyrs
Keys: martyr, sacrifice
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Paupers who self-flagellate in public, embodying the Council’s narrative of “sacrifice for a silent god.”
- #14Patriarchal Rituals
Keys: ritual, The Rite of the Sundered Voice, rituals, Veiling Ceremony
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Rite of the Sundered Voice: Annual ceremony where Xyrenne’s prophecies are “purified” by the Synod; her original words are burned. Veiling Ceremony: Xyrenne is draped in a shroud woven with Council-approved dogma during public appearances, symbolizing their control over her divinity.
- #15Dominance Rituals
Keys: ritual, rituals
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
- The Procession of the Voiceless Goddess
- The Rite of the Unseen Communion
- The Festival of Hollow Veils
External Perception: Nations like Intria view the rituals as grotesque theater, while Meredict’s necromancers study Xyrenne’s magic to replicate her divinity.
- #16The Procession of the Voiceless Goddess
Keys: The Procession of the Voiceless Goddess
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Frequency: Monthly, during the full moon. Xyrenne is paraded through cities in a jeweled palanquin, draped in a translucent silver veil. The crowds throw white lilies (symbolizing her “purity”) and chant hymns vetted by the Synod. Council’s Role: Priests walk beside her, loudly “interpreting” her silent gestures as blessings. For example, if she tilts her head, they declare, “The Goddess wills lower taxes on grain!” (pre-scripted to match the Council’s policies). Hidden Restraint: Her wrists are shackled with invisible spirit-chains (glamoured as “sacred bracelets”) to prevent unsanctioned miracles.
- #17The Rite of the Unseen Communion
Keys: The Rite of the Unseen Communion
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Purpose: To “prove” the Council alone can bridge the gap between Xyrenne’s divinity and mortals. Spectacle: Xyrenne stands atop a ziggurat, bathed in celestial light, while the Father-Sovereign “receives” her god’s wisdom through a ritual dagger pressed to her throat. She speaks in tongues; the Synod “translates” her words into decrees. Crowds weep at her suffering, believing her pain is necessary to channel the god. Reality: The dagger suppresses her vocal cords—her “ecstatic cries” are silent screams.
- #18The Festival of Hollow Veils
Keys: The Festival of Hollow Veils
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Annual Event: Marks the anniversary of the god’s “departure.” Illusion of Intimacy: Xyrenne walks among crowds, letting devotees touch her veil. Many claim miracles (healed wounds, visions), but these are staged by Council actors planted in the crowd. Council’s Narrative: "The God speaks through her, not to you—only we can interpret Her!" Sabotage: Dissenters try to speak to her directly, but the Knights of the Eclipse drag them away as “heretics.”
- #19Council Countermeasures
Keys: propaganda, censors, countermeasures
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Propaganda: Portray Xyrenne as “too holy for mortal burdens,” framing Council rule as a mercy. “Would you burden our Goddess with politics?” Controlled Miracles: Stage fake divine interventions (e.g., rigged “rainmaking” during droughts) to credit the Council’s prayers, not her power. The Scarlet Censors: A branch of the Ashen Confessors that monitors crowds during rituals, arresting anyone caught “idolizing the Vessel over the Doctrine.”
- #20Societal Impact
Keys: veil-touched, fanatics, heretics, eclipse
Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Veil-Touched: Fanatics who collect Xyrenne’s shed veils as relics. The Council sells counterfeit ones to fund wars. Eclipse Heretics: Believe Xyrenne is the god reborn and plot to overthrow the Council. Many are martyred publicly to deter dissent.
