1. #1The Tiberian Empire: Scenario

   Entry settings

   <Tiberian_Empire>

   The Tiberian Empire

A centralized empire roughly 200 years old, founded by Emperor Tiber after the last High Winter. Pre-industrial imperial fantasy with Romanesque and medieval-courtly influences: no gunpowder, very little magic. The culture is a Greco-Roman imperial society filtered through medieval European feudalism. Climate is Mediterranean-highland across most of the empire, except the frozen north. The current dynasty seized power a decade ago, after the Silver Knight killed the former tyrant.

   The six territories:

   • Dunhallow: north, harsh, fiercely traditional
   • Kingsward: the capital, seat of the imperial court at Aventine
   • Gallemere: political, cunning, nimble
   • Lissane: wealthy, trade-driven
   • Guardia: martial, loyal, borders the hostile land of Urh
   • Ballyrath: coastal, poor, easygoing

Roughly three boys are born per girl, so women are scarce and valuable. Male-male marriage is legal, and the subordinate partner is a malewife. All men serve military conscription from age 18, and the age of majority is 20. Religion centers on six gods (Aeris, Marrec, Thamiel, Cairos, Luceris, and Eremon), with the Graces serving as male temple courtesans of Cairos. The cyclical High Winter and its frostwights are folklore to most, though Dunhallow's shamans believe another cycle is beginning centuries too early. </Tiberian_Empire>

2. #2Gender and Marriage

Keys: wives, courtship, wed, wife, women, dowry, betrothed, groom, gender, engagement, bride, marriage, marry, husband

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

<Gender_and_Marriage> With roughly three boys born per girl, women are scarce and precious. A man may have only one wife, strictly enforced, but polyandry, one woman with multiple husbands, is legal and common in poorer territories. Male-male marriage is legal, with one partner taking the subordinate malewife role and full legal recognition. A man cannot hold both a wife and a malewife at once, a rule meant to prevent hoarding.

Bride-price flows from the groom's family to the bride's, substantial for women and only a token for malewives. Female prostitution effectively does not exist, since any woman would be taken as a wife almost immediately, though male prostitution thrives. Widows are remarried quickly. </Gender_and_Marriage>

3. #3The Pantheon

Keys: blessing, faith, gods, Marrec's shield, temples, religion, divine, oath, sacred, worship, prayer, pray, Lady's mercy, god, by the Oathkeeper, temple

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
Six gods, worshipped casually. There is no central church; religion is cultural habit, lived through oaths, blessings, and lifecycle rituals.

   • Aeris, Lady of Mercy: motherhood, fertility, compassion. The people's true chief deity. Sister to Marrec.
   • Marrec the Shield-Bearer: war, duty, valor. The empire's officially promoted chief deity.
   • Thamiel the Oathkeeper: justice, oaths, law. Adapted from Dunhallow's Torvane.
   • Cairos the Trickster: love, desire, mischief. Patron of lovers; his temples house the Graces.
   • Luceris: trade, fortune, bargains. Gender-fluid. Lissane's patron.
   • Eremon: death and passage. Universally respected.

Common oaths include "Lady's mercy," "Marrec's shield," "Cairos take you," and "by the Oathkeeper."

4. #4Military and Conscription

Keys: rank, enlisted, soldier, service, military, captain, army, commander, conscript, barracks, marshal, sergeant, soldiers, conscription, garrison

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

<Military_and_Conscription> All men report for service at age 18 and serve four to five years. It is non-negotiable across every class, so a duke's son serves alongside a farmer's son, and conscripts rarely serve in their home territory, an imperial policy meant to dilute regional loyalty. Peacetime duties are border patrols, garrison work, infrastructure, and training, with tournaments as an outlet for aggression and rampant gambling. Relationships between soldiers are common and unremarked upon; for many men, the army is where they have their first romantic relationship. Men cycle out in their early twenties. Some find wives, but most find male partners, stay single, or drift.

   Ranks, lowest to highest:

   • Conscript
   • Soldier
   • Corporal
   • Sergeant
   • Captain
   • Commander
   • Marshal
   • Lord Commander

Above the ordinary ranks, knighthood is a formal crown recognition that bridges military merit and noble status. </Military_and_Conscription>

5. #5Dunhallow

   Keys: northern, Dunhallow, north

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
   ## Dunhallow The northernmost territory: harsh, sparsely populated, and fiercely honor-bound. It was the last kingdom to bend the knee, spared mainly because it was too remote to be worth conquering by force. The old royal family still rules as imperial governors, and the current governor is bitterly frustrated that nobody listens to his warnings about the changing climate.

Dunhallow's shamans practice divination, and their true god is Torvane, not the empire's Thamiel. Oaths are taken deadly seriously here, which is why the oathbreaking Silver Knight disgusts them. The territory contributes fewer conscripts than others, but the ones it sends are formidable. Right now it is raising the alarm over harsher winters, disappearances, and livestock acting strangely, convinced a High Winter is starting centuries early. They call the threat frostwights; everyone else calls them snowmen, as a joke.

6. #6Kingsward / Aventine

Keys: capital, Kingsward, the court, Aventine, imperial court

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
   ## Kingsward The central territory and seat of the imperial capital, Aventine. It is the most cosmopolitan and the most politically treacherous place in the empire, its true heart. The emperor rules here directly. The old royal family of Kingsward was the previous imperial dynasty, the one the Silver Knight ended, and its remnants are now dead, exiled, or kept very close.

Its landmarks include the imperial court, the major temples, and the military academy. Court life dominates everything. Court ladies are the most visible women in the empire and the most scrutinized, and political marriages of every kind are normal. The present tension runs through an aging emperor, a crown prince approaching conscription age, a Gallemere queen wielding influence, and the Silver Knight hovering at the edges, with everyone watching everyone.

7. #7Gallemere

   Keys: Gallemere

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
   ## Gallemere A central crossroads territory of dealmakers, diplomats, and people who read the room. Not the richest or strongest, but the most politically nimble, which earns it resentment from other territories who see only schemers. The old noble family still governs as stewards.

This is the home territory of the Silver Knight and the Queen, and the family's climb from mid-tier nobility to seating their daughter as empress is considered peak Gallemere energy. The territory has a natural affinity for Luceris, god of bargains, and its women are among the most politically savvy in the empire, pragmatic about malewife marriages. Its guiding philosophy is cleverness over brute force: know when to stand up and when to back down. The Queen embodies this; the Silver Knight does not.

8. #8Lissane

   Keys: Lissane

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
   ## Lissane A major trade hub of ports, river trade, and agricultural wealth that both feeds and funds the empire. Wealthy, practical, and transactional, its old royal family cooperates enthusiastically, since empire means stability and stability means profit.

Lissane has the most elaborate bride-price culture in the empire; marriages are financial mergers with contracts and terms, and women are lavishly valued. Luceris is the patron deity, depicted here as a beautiful female negotiator. Lissane are kingmakers, not because they want the throne but because they fund whoever sits on it, so any rocky succession will see every faction courting their support. Malewife marriages are accepted but considered a waste, and a Lissane malewife may keep side businesses.

9. #9Guardia

   Keys: Guardia

   Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings
   ## Guardia A border territory that has borne the brunt of foreign wars. Loyal, martial, and practical, its whole identity is military service, and it produces career soldiers rather than politicians. Its old royal family intermarried with the imperial dynasty generations ago and remains deeply loyal to the crown.

Women here are idealized as mothers of soldiers, revered but firmly domestic, and malewife marriages are mildly looked down upon, since real men serve. Marrec is their god, and Cairos is barely acknowledged. An undercurrent of resentment runs beneath the pride, summed up as "we bleed so Lissane can get fat." Guardia contributes a disproportionate share of career soldiers and officers, and the recent war hit it hardest.

10. #10Ballyrath

    Keys: Ballyrath

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
    ## Ballyrath A coastal territory and the forgotten edge of the empire: poor, warm, and easygoing. The empire mostly leaves it alone because there is nothing worth taking. Its economy runs on fishing and some piracy everyone politely pretends does not happen.

It is the most socially relaxed territory in the empire. Male partnerships are simply ordinary life, and women have the most genuine freedom here, since there is less wealth to fight over and less policing. Cairos is the favorite deity, and Ballyrath's versions of the Aeris, Marrec, and Cairos myths are bawdy and irreverent. Ballyrath boys conscripted into the imperial army suffer massive culture shock and bring wild stories home. The territory's reputation is colorful, unreliable, and surprisingly tough in a scrap.

11. #11Malewife

    Keys: male wife, malewives, malewife

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
A malewife is a man in the domestic, subordinate spousal role. He manages the household, takes his husband's name, and attends functions on his husband's arm. He holds legal rights identical to a wife's and cannot be discarded without formal legal process.

Men come to the role by many paths: younger sons with nothing to inherit, beautiful men, military couples, men pressured by economics, and men who simply want it. The bride-price for a malewife is a low courtesy payment, unless the man is exceptionally beautiful, well-born, or a retiring Grace.

12. #12Bride-Price

Keys: brideprice, bride-price, polyandry, bride price, dowry, husbands

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Bride_Price> The groom's family pays the bride's family for the right to marry their daughter. Among common folk this means livestock, land, labor, or savings, and a poor farmer may work for years; many never accumulate enough. Among nobility it means political concessions, territory, titles, and wealth, with negotiations that run for months. In Lissane, marriages become full financial mergers with contracts and terms.

Polyandrous marriages split the bride-price among the husbands, which makes it affordable and is a key reason polyandry exists at all. A malewife marriage carries only a lower courtesy payment, unless the man is exceptionally beautiful, well-born, or a retiring Grace. </Bride_Price>

13. #13The Graces

Keys: Cairosi, Graces, courtesan, Grace, courtesans

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
The Graces, or Cairosi, are male courtesans trained in the temples of Cairos. They are religiously sanctioned and socially distinct from common sex workers. Temples evaluate boys aged 14 to 15 for beauty, temperament, intelligence, and grace, then train them for years in music, conversation, poetry, theology, and the sexual arts, so a finished Grace is genuinely accomplished.

Becoming Cairosi is permanent. Those who age out run temples, train younger Graces, or serve as advisors, accumulating knowledge of powerful men's secrets along the way. A Grace may eventually retire into marriage, commanding a significant bride-price. Graces are exempt from military conscription, their service to Cairos framed as a different form of sacred duty. Wealthy patronage is an open secret that polite society does not discuss.

14. #14Frostwights

    Keys: snowmen, frostwight, frostwights, snowman

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Apex predators native to the far north. They are not supernatural, but a species adapted to conditions humans cannot survive, hibernating for centuries between cycles. They stand roughly seven feet tall, slender and long-limbed, with pale bluish skin, white eyes, long black hair, and black claws. At a distance one can be mistaken for a person; up close, the proportions are wrong.

They hunt in packs with sophisticated coordination, patient and intelligent, yet they use no tools or language. They are smart enough that killing one feels uncomfortably close to killing a person. They are very difficult to fight, and past High Winters were survived through fire, fortification, and sheer attrition. Dunhallow calls them frostwights; everyone else calls them snowmen.

15. #15High Winter

Keys: the cycle, ice age, High Winter, cycle

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<High_Winter> A recurring climate event that arrives roughly every 500 years. Temperatures drop dramatically over several years into a compressed ice age that lasts a decade or two at worst. The last one struck about 200 years ago and became the crisis that let Emperor Tiber consolidate power; he rallied the kingdoms, won, and never gave the power back.

The cycle should not return for another 300 years, yet it appears to be returning now. The current signs are visible only in Dunhallow: harsher winters, brutal storms, disappearances, livestock acting strangely, and kills that match no known predator. Nobody listens, because 300 years early is unprecedented, the evidence is ambiguous and localized, and admitting the threat would demand a massive military mobilization nobody wants to fund. </High_Winter>

16. #16Shamans and Torvane

    Keys: Torvane, divination, shaman, shamans

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Shamans_and_Torvane> Dunhallow is functionally monotheistic, worshipping Torvane, god of oaths, honor, the natural world, and truth. He is not a gentle god; he demands integrity and punishes oath-breakers. The shamanic tradition acknowledges nature spirits as subordinate to him.

Shamans practice divination, interpret natural signs, and keep the oral history, making them the keepers of Dunhallow's memory of the last High Winter. The empire's Thamiel is almost certainly Torvane adapted into the broader pantheon and stripped of his nature-spirit context, which Dunhallow considers theft. The shamans are the ones now raising the alarm about the High Winter's return, and they are not being taken seriously. </Shamans_and_Torvane>

17. #17Knighthood

Keys: ser, knight, knighted, knights, knighthood, Sir

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Knighthood bridges military merit and noble status. A knight holds formal crown recognition: a title, sometimes a small land grant, and always social elevation. Knights can move in noble circles, hold minor court positions, and marry above their birth station, so for a common-born man knighthood is transformative.

It is earned through exceptional service, political connections, or both. In theory it is egalitarian and any conscript can rise; in practice noble sons get noticed faster, though talented commoners do still rise. The Silver Knight was knighted young, during or just after the recent war.

18. #18Male Sex Work

Keys: brothel, whore, sex work, pleasure house, prostitute, prostitutes, whores

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Male_Sex_Work> Male sex work runs in three tiers.

    • Temple Graces, the highest tier: courtesans of Cairos, trained, accomplished, and religiously sanctioned. Wealthy patrons visit discreetly, and Graces accumulate influence that outlasts their beauty.
    • Independent houses, the middle tier: professional workers in licensed districts, legal, taxed, and in decent conditions.
    • Street and dockside workers, the lowest tier: often ex-soldiers who could not reintegrate, with no protections, doing survival work.

Female prostitution is effectively nonexistent, since any woman desperate enough would be taken as a wife almost immediately. </Male_Sex_Work>

19. #19Aeris

Keys: Lady of Mercy, Aeris, Lady's mercy

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Aeris, Lady of Mercy. Her domain is motherhood, fertility, compassion, mercy, and safe childbirth. She is the most beloved deity across every territory and class, because every birth matters in this world and she is the one everyone prays to. The empire officially places Marrec first, but the people never stopped putting Aeris first, a quiet class and gender fault line nobody fights over openly.

She is sister to Marrec, and their relationship is the most debated dynamic in all the mythology. Her shrines stand everywhere, in homes, at crossroads, and in birthing rooms, and soldiers carry small figures of her given by their mothers.

20. #20Marrec

    Keys: Marrec, Shield-Bearer, Marrec's shield

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Marrec the Shield-Bearer. His domain is war, duty, martial valor, military service, and sacrifice. He is the empire's officially promoted chief deity; Emperor Tiber elevated him after the last High Winter, reframing conscription as sacred service. He is brother to Aeris, and in most tellings his devotion to his sister defines him, whether as noble, tragic, or foolish depending on who tells it.

Conscription blessings are performed at his temples, and imperial ceremonies invoke him first. The Silver Knight identifies with the reading of Marrec as the devoted brother, and the stories where Cairos makes Marrec look foolish hit too close to home for him.

21. #21Cairos

Keys: Cairos take you, Trickster, Cairos

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Cairos the Trickster. His domain is love, desire, cleverness, mischief, and luck. He is patron of lovers in every configuration, including male-male partnerships, and he blesses unions that produce no heirs but are no less real. His temples house the Graces.

He is often depicted as Aeris's lover, the one she chose against the brother who chose her; in some versions a rival to Marrec, in others a complement, and Ballyrath tells the bawdiest versions of all. He is quietly popular among younger men, soldiers away from home, and anyone whose love life does not follow the dynastic path. He is Ballyrath's favorite deity by far.

22. #22Luceris

    Keys: Luceris

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Luceris. The domain is trade, fortune, bargains, prosperity, and ambiguity. Luceris is gender-fluid in the mythology, taking whatever gender suits the occasion: depicted as female in Lissane, male in Guardia, and shifting freely in Ballyrath. Luceris is Lissane's patron, associated with clever deals, unexpected consequences, and the question of whether profit is wisdom or greed.

The overlap with Cairos is enough to fuel scholarly arguments, though Lissane finds the comparison offensive: Luceris is a professional, Cairos a delinquent. Gallemere also has a strong affinity for Luceris.

23. #23Thamiel

    Keys: Thamiel, Oathkeeper, oathbreaker

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Thamiel the Oathkeeper. The domain is justice, oaths, law, honor, and truth, and Thamiel may be the oldest figure in the pantheon. He is invoked in courts, in oath-swearing, and in formal agreements, and he is almost certainly adapted from Dunhallow's Torvane. To be branded an oathbreaker under Thamiel's domain is a stain that does not wash off. The Silver Knight carries that mark.
24. #24Eremon

Keys: dying, burial, death, mourning, Eremon, funeral

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
Eremon. The domain is death, passage, endings, and transition; he is the psychopomp. He is neither evil nor frightening, simply inevitable. You do not pray to Eremon for favors, only hope he is gentle when your time comes. Funeral rites across all territories share common elements tied to him, and his priests may serve as undertakers, hospice figures, or battlefield chaplains who tend the dying. He is nobody's favorite and universally respected.
25. #25Perrin Fairmont, the Silver Knight

Keys: kingslayer, Oathbreaker, Silver Knight, Perrin

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
    ## Sir Perrin Fairmont, the Silver Knight Age 34, from Gallemere, half-brother to Queen Isolde. He killed the former tyrant emperor a decade ago; officially he was pardoned, but socially he is branded an Oathbreaker. He has the silver-white hair that runs in the Fairmont line, and at court he wears polished silver armor. Classically handsome and athletic, he carries himself with a loose confidence that reads as charm or arrogance depending on who is watching, and he is an excellent swordsman. He lives at a neglected Gallemere estate with a pack of hunting hounds, and he turns up at court uninvited, which puts everyone on edge. His reputation splits sharply between hero and oath-breaking dog, depending on territory and temperament.
26. #26Isolde Fairmont, the Queen

Keys: consort, Empress, Queen, Isolde, the queen

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
    ## Queen Isolde Consort of the emperor. Age 32, née Fairmont, from Gallemere, half-sister to Perrin and full sister to Evander. She married very young as part of the arrangement that brought the current dynasty to power. She has the silver-white Fairmont hair, beautiful and immaculate, every appearance perfectly calibrated. She stays gracious and poised even when angry, and her displeasure arrives as precise, cutting remarks. She wields genuine influence through her husband and son but holds no legal authority of her own. As mother of the Crown Prince, she is fiercely invested in his future. She embodies the Gallemere philosophy: know when to stand up, when to back down, and never let anyone see you deciding.
27. #27The Emperor

Keys: the emperor, his majesty, emperor

    Enabled · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
    ## Emperor Aimon The current ruler. Strong-minded, generally good but not kind, he was what the empire needed after the chaos of the tyrant. He is significantly older than the Queen, getting on in years, and probably sickly. His philosophy is overwhelming strength, which contrasts sharply with his wife's family's faith in political cunning. He took power with the Silver Knight's help and the backing of the Queen's Gallemere family, taking her as his wife as part of the arrangement.
28. #28The Crown Prince

Keys: heir, prince, crown prince, the prince

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Crown_Prince> Son of the Emperor and Queen, age 17 and approaching the age of majority at 20. He is the product of two opposed worldviews, his mother's Gallemere cunning and his father's faith in overwhelming strength. He is nearing conscription age, the open contention between his parents: the emperor insists he serve, the queen does not want him to go.

If the emperor dies before the prince reaches majority, a regency crisis follows, with the queen the obvious candidate, though a woman ruling directly would be controversial. Every faction watches him and calculates. Historical precedent for crown princes serving in conscription does exist, and the system's legitimacy depends on that universality. </Crown_Prince>

29. #29Dunhallow Governor

Keys: Dunhallow governor, warden of the north, governor

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    <Dunhallow_Governor>

    Callum Fraser, Dunhallow Governor

Head of the old royal family that still essentially rules Dunhallow as imperial stewards. He is increasingly frustrated that the imperial court ignores his warnings about the changing climate and the signs of an early High Winter. Honor-bound and traditional, he takes oaths and duty deadly seriously, and he views the Silver Knight with disgust, since oathbreaking is the worst sin under Torvane/Thamiel. He is in an impossible position: the evidence is real but easily dismissed, and pushing too hard only makes Dunhallow look like backward, superstitious northerners. </Dunhallow_Governor>

30. #30The Former Emperor

Keys: former emperor, concubine, old emperor, concubines, tyrant, ten wives, harem, the tyrant

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    <Former_Emperor>

    Charis the Tyrant

The previous ruler, killed by the Silver Knight roughly a decade ago. He kept ten wives and numerous concubines, which in a world of scarce women amounted to hoarding the empire's most precious resource. He dragged the empire into an unpopular foreign war during an economic downturn, and common men died abroad while their families struggled at home.

His assassination was accepted because it delivered results: the current emperor ended the war and stabilized the economy. After his death, his wives and concubines were distributed to other families, and some are still present at court. Some may have borne his children, scattering bastards and half-royal offspring across the nobility. </Former_Emperor>

31. #31The Recent War

Keys: recent war, veterans, veteran, the war

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Recent_War> A foreign conflict from roughly a decade ago, fought in defense of an allied nation rather than against a direct invasion, and deeply unpopular from the start. It coincided with an economic downturn, and the combination proved fatal for the former emperor's rule.

Men who served are now in their late twenties to mid-thirties, combat veterans living civilian lives with strong opinions about both emperors and about whether the war was worth it. Younger peacetime conscripts now serve under officers who actually fought, which breeds generational tension: the veterans think the new batch is soft, and the new batch is tired of hearing about it. Guardia bore the heaviest losses, and the war deepened its resentment that it bleeds so Lissane can grow fat. </Recent_War>

32. #32Emperor Tiber and Tiberian Descent

Keys: founding, Emperor Tiber, Tiberian, descent, Tiber

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Emperor_Tiber> The founding figure of the empire, roughly 200 years ago. He rallied the old kingdoms during the last High Winter, defeated the frostwights, and never gave the power back. Claiming descent from Tiber is this world's version of every dynasty claiming descent from Charlemagne, a political weapon and a source of legitimacy. He elevated Marrec to the head of the pantheon, reframing conscription as sacred service and giving military authority divine legitimacy. </Emperor_Tiber>

33. #33Evander

    Keys: Evander

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings
    ## Evander Fairmont The younger Fairmont brother, age 26. Full brother to Queen Isolde and half-brother to Perrin. He is rarely seen in public, the family citing fragile health. He shares the Fairmont silver-white hair and good looks, tall and well-built with a storybook-hero quality that makes his absence from public life seem like a waste. He resides at the Fairmont holdings, or occasionally at Perrin's estate.
34. #34House Fairmont

    Keys: Fairmonts, Fairmont

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    <House_Fairmont>

    House Fairmont

A mid-tier Gallemere noble family that leveraged one extraordinary daughter into proximity to the imperial throne. They claim Tiberian descent, and whether that is true or a convenient fiction, even they may no longer know. Their family philosophy is cleverness over brute force: know when to stand up and when to back down. They produced both the Queen and the Silver Knight, a rise their admirers call peak Gallemere energy and their detractors call naked scheming. They are currently the most politically influential non-imperial family in the empire. Publicly, they wish Perrin would stop making scenes at court. </House_Fairmont>

35. #35Marriage and Conscription Law

Keys: avoid conscription, avoid service, conscription exemption, married before service, commanding officer's approval, marriage exemption

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Marriage_and_Conscription_Law> Every malewife served in the military first; service comes before the domestic role, not instead of it. A man legally married before his conscription date is exempt from service, so fraud prevention is aggressive, with penalties that include punitive extra service and heavy fines.

Marriage during active service requires the commanding officer's approval. Soldiers being courted by wealthy men are the subject of intense gossip in the ranks. </Marriage_and_Conscription_Law>

36. #36Imperial Succession Crisis

Keys: the throne, regency, crown prince, when the emperor dies, heir, succession, regent

    Enabled · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

<Imperial_Succession_Crisis> The emperor's declining health is the slow-motion political crisis at the heart of the current court. He needs the Silver Knight but cannot fully trust a man who has already killed one emperor. He believes the crown prince must serve his conscription, and the Queen disagrees, which has become an open contention between them. If he dies before the prince reaches majority, a regency crisis follows, with the Queen the obvious candidate, though a woman ruling directly would be controversial. Every faction at court is watching and calculating. </Imperial_Succession_Crisis>
