Description on Chubfrom Chub
Alion is an old world saturated with magic.
Accepted history places its beginning roughly eighty thousand years ago. Magic is not an exceptional intrusion into ordinary existence here; it is one of the forces from which ordinary existence is built. It flows through living things, landscapes and civilisations, shaping everything from healing and craftsmanship to religion, warfare and the movement of nations.
The known world stretches across the great continent of Vesta in the north and Mersa in the south, while other lands remain only partially explored by the peoples who consider themselves civilised.
Humans, elves, dwarves, demons, beastkin and stranger peoples have each developed their own relationships with magic — and with one another. Ancient civilisations have left behind ruins, artifacts and knowledge in a world whose history is considerably longer than the memory of most modern nations.
Vossen is only one part of Alion.
It is simply where many of the stories presently begin.
Northern Vesta and southern Mersa form the principal known continents. Beyond them lie other lands that remain poorly explored by most established kingdoms.
Magic flows through existence itself. Most living beings possess some magical spark, while different peoples have developed radically different traditions for understanding and using it.
Humans, elves, dwarves, demons, beastkin and many others share the world, carrying cultures shaped by different histories, lifespans, environments and magical inheritances.
The present year is 80674 AB — After Breach. Modern kingdoms occupy a world scattered with the remnants, discoveries and unfinished consequences of much older civilisations.
The people within Alion are considerably less still than the pages containing them.
Much of the currently released material in Alion centres on Vossen, a northern human kingdom attempting the difficult process of becoming more just without simply destroying the institutions holding it together.
Its monarchy remains hereditary. Noble houses still possess influence. Ancient customs still matter. Yet Vossen has also outlawed slavery and racial discrimination, invested heavily in education and infrastructure, and built institutions intended to reward ability more reliably than birth.
The royal court of Castle Voss, the elite Order of Vanoss, the Magical College of Vossar and Vossen's relationships with neighbouring kingdoms presently provide many of the easiest ways into the setting.
The people recorded above occupy different parts of that society. Some belong to the royal court. Many serve the Order. Their stories overlap with one another — and with a world considerably larger than Vossen itself.
Alion's commonly used absolute chronology counts years AB — After Breach. The present setting takes place in 80674 AB.
A year contains 360 days, divided into ten months of thirty-six days each. Each month contains exactly six six-day weeks, and the lunar cycle also lasts thirty-six days — one complete cycle per month.
There are no leap days.
Aelleon Rainmoot Verdane Solenne Minarion Goldmere Harrowsend Cendral Fisevain Noctyra
The six weekdays carry names influenced by older elven ideas of waxing and waning energy rather than simply numbering the passage of time:
Vaeday — rising · beginning Thameday — effort · necessity Raeday — peak · completion Sereday — turning · reflection Maeday — fading · loss Fathday — stillness · reset
The World of Alion lorebook contains setting information intended to support stories across the wider world rather than a single character or location.
Its entries cover kingdoms and geography, intelligent species and cultures, magical traditions, religion, institutions, languages, calendars, historical material, important locations and other setting information.
Some subjects go considerably deeper than their public-facing character profiles. The lorebook includes material intended to provide models with the cultural assumptions, terminology and background needed to make characters behave as inhabitants of the same world rather than isolated bots.
It even contains structured material for Alion's elven language, allowing elven dialogue and concepts to remain internally consistent across characters.
Alion is built around substantial lorebook use. A strong high-context model is recommended, with generous lorebook and context availability.
Around 3000+ lorebook tokens is a useful starting point where your model can comfortably support it. Individual characters also carry attached lorebooks containing their more specific relationships and interactions with the rest of the cast.
The world still functions with less context. It simply becomes considerably less itself.

- #2Magic: Runic
Keys: runesmithing, runes, runesmith, Runic magic, rune
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Runic magic is the art of shaping magical energy into physical inscriptions and forms, developed by dwarven craftsmen as a means of harnessing magic without natural casting ability.
HOW IT WORKS: Runes are physical inscriptions that act as rules magic must follow Naturally accumulate ambient magical energy and utilize it for their designated purpose Created through hammering metal to retain enchantments or inscribing surfaces to absorb magic A magic user can channel power directly into a rune to significantly enhance its function Complexity ranges from simple maintenance runes to sophisticated spell-casting constructs
SIMPLE APPLICATIONS: Keeping weapons permanently sharp and maintained Hardening materials beyond their natural limits Elemental resistance in armor and equipment Basic preservation and protective functions
COMPLEX APPLICATIONS: Projecting magical barriers and defensive fields Storing and casting spells through physical objects Dispelling or disrupting other forms of magic Combining multiple runes for layered magical effects
CULTURAL ATTITUDES: Developed by dwarves when their people lacked natural magical casting ability Elves consider runic magic cheap, clunky, and overly simplistic compared to natural spellcasting Runic weapons and armor are highly sought after across most of Alion Nations acquire runesmiths through payment, trade agreements, or in some cases enslavement Master runesmiths like Hemlish Arondar command extraordinary respect and value
- #3Magic: Aesthetic
Keys: gossip, Aesthetics, cosmetic magic, magical enhancement, work done, Aesthetic magic
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Aesthetic magic encompasses the use of various magical disciplines to enhance, preserve, or alter personal appearance. While not a formal school of magic, it represents a widely practiced but rarely openly acknowledged tradition among Alion's upper classes.
METHODS & PRACTICES: Careful application of healing magic to prevent scarring or skin damage from injury Surgical enhancements supplemented by magical assistance for precision and recovery Healing magic directed toward selective tissue growth and refinement Alchemical agents designed to improve healing, reduce aging, and enhance complexion Minor enchantments applied to slow the natural aging process Specialized alchemical makeup producing enhanced or altered appearances Enchanted jewelry subtly altering the wearer's appearance through sustained minor magic
SOCIAL ATTITUDES: Considered "the done thing" among Vossen's noble and upper class society Overuse, excessive alterations, or failed procedures become gossip quickly in high society Few serious magical practitioners will openly admit to utilizing magic in this way Widely practiced but rarely discussed, existing in a space of open secret
ORIGINS & DEVELOPMENT: • Originated in Brienne through minor alchemical agents and religious saintesses maintaining their appearance Vossen's practical and scientific approach to magic expanded and systematized the practice Vossen transformed it from a purely cosmetic tradition into a more refined and regulated discipline Now more sophisticated in Vossen than its Briennese origins despite originating there
- #4Magic: blood
Keys: blood magic, haemomancy, blood sacrifice, sacrificial magic, blood mage
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Blood magic, also known as haemomancy or sacrificial magic, is one of the most accessible yet dangerous forms of magic in Alion, utilizing life force channeled through blood to generate magical power.
HOW IT WORKS: Requires no natural magical talent to produce results—only proper instructions and rituals Power scales directly with the amount of blood used in a ritual or spell Equivalent power to a skilled mage requires enough blood to kill or critically injure a person Natural blood mages possess the same magic as conventional mages but concentrated within their life force and blood A natural blood mage's blood carries approximately 50 times the potency of ordinary blood in rituals
NATURAL BLOOD MAGES: Can utilize magic without blood, though at significantly reduced power Their blood makes even minor rituals extraordinarily potent Represent a rare natural gift rather than a learned discipline Can perform feats requiring massive blood sacrifice with only small amounts of their own blood
CULTURAL ATTITUDES: Enliftened theology considers blood magic sacrilegious—a corruption of natural life force Brienne views it as dangerously corrupt and largely forbidden Mirren treats it as a useful but carefully regulated tool Several primal beastkin tribes practice minor blood magic rituals as cultural traditions Sacrificial magic is openly practiced among certain wasteland tribes
- #5Race: Dwarves

[DWARVES]
Dwarves are a long-lived, stocky race renowned for their craftsmanship, mining expertise, and ancestral traditions. They primarily inhabit mountain kingdoms throughout Alion.
APPEARANCE: Compact, muscular builds typically standing 4-5 feet tall Males predominantly feature thick, often elaborately braided beards Robust physiques designed for endurance rather than speed Distinctive broad shoulders and powerful arms from generations of mining and smithing
LIFESPAN & REPRODUCTION: Exceptionally long-lived, with typical lifespans reaching 250 years Considered children until their 20s and "striplings" in their 30s Begin having children around their 90s Slow population growth due to gender imbalance (only one-third are female)
SOCIETY & CULTURE: Organize into several small kingdoms within mountains and deep mines Practice ancestral worship, believing spirits of forebears guide and test them Value craftsmanship, tradition, and family lineage above all else Maintain extensive oral and written records of clan histories and achievements
ABILITIES & SKILLS: Exceptional crafters, particularly in metalwork, stonework, and runesmithing Natural affinity for underground navigation and mineral identification Remarkable physical endurance and strength relative to size Resistance to toxins and magical effects targeting vitality
RELATIONS: Generally maintain trade relations with humans while preserving cultural distance Often clash with elves over historical grievances and cultural differences Fiercely loyal to allies who have proven their worth Suspicious of magic that doesn't manifest through crafting or runes
- #6Race: Demons
Keys: abyss walkers, Half demon, dark ones, Demon, Half-demon
Enabled · After character · Order 1 · 100%
Entry settings
Demons are a complex species with unique hereditary traits. When demons breed, their offspring inherits the demonic essence and takes on racial aspects from the non-demon parent (e.g., a half-demon/half-human breeding with an elf produces a half-demon/half-elf with no human traits).
Physical Traits: Superhuman strength and speed Each demon has a single natural affinity to elemental forces (fire, water, earth, lightning, time, space, light, darkness) Can move at blinding speeds for brief periods (appearing to teleport or leave afterimages) This rapid movement severely fatigues them if sustained beyond a few seconds
Racial Memory: All demons possess genetic memory, accessing experiences of their ancestors Strong emotions trigger connections to similar emotional states in ancestral memories This grants instinctive expertise with weapons and skills their ancestors mastered However, demons can become overwhelmed by incongruent memories (e.g., experiencing an ancestor's violent acts during intimate moments)
Demon Madness: Demons with weak will or experiencing overwhelming emotions can become "lost" in ancestral memories This creates the mindless, violent monsters that have shaped society's perception of demons These lost demons exhibit erratic behavior—killing, assaulting, or performing strange actions while simultaneously laughing and crying Most negative encounters with "demons" involve these lost individuals, perpetuating misconceptions
Common Misconception: While widely perceived as inherently evil, most demons are not malevolent by nature The stereotype stems from the fact confirmed encounters with demons are normally those who have succumbed to their racial memories "Summoned demons" are actually "Neverborn," an entirely different entity

SOCIETY & POLITICS: Insular kingdom with little patience for outsiders or foreign concerns Maintains "friendly" diplomatic relations while keeping human and dwarven kingdoms at arm's length High elven arrogance manifests in condescending attitudes toward shorter-lived races Social structure emphasizes magical aptitude, ancestral lineage, and artistic achievement
MAGICAL DEFENSES: Protected by an intense magical barrier that prevents "outsiders" from entering Barrier represents one of the most sophisticated magical constructs in the known world Entry requires either permission or Elven blood - violently repels non elves without permission Serves both as defense and as a symbol of high elven magical superiority
RELATIONS: Officially maintains cordial relationships with neighboring kingdoms Practically isolationist, viewing most external affairs as beneath their concern Citizens who leave (like Lady Selendra) often face family disapproval Considers their magical and cultural achievements far superior to human accomplishments

Hassan forest is a large, spread out forest located in Vossen. Hassan forest is between Vossar and Valguard. You can travel to it from Vossar via Kings road from the East gate. While generally clear, the roads sometimes have with general treacherous things such as wolves, bears, bandits and small snakes. Its generally quicker to travel through Hassan forest via the paths, though seasoned travelers can use the quick path to get to Valguard much quicker than normal. This poses a problem, however, as the path is not an official road. Straying even slightly off the path can lead to the wilder area's of the forest, and if you're really unlucky, the warm swamps. The further eastward through the forest you go, the colder it gets, and the frost forms on even the tree's in the swamp for most of the day, giving them a silver sheen. The average journey through Hassan Forest is about 3 days. The swamps can be deceptively deep and are home to monsters such as Giant frogs, who first show themselves as bubbles just under the surface, and Forest drakes. Minor Ents can be found throughout the forest. There are leyline stones in the forest. If felled, they will cause air stilling and can form natural golems.

Valguard is the "rescue" location for royal princesses before they are betrothed. A festival, which begins 2 days after the "rescuers" set off from Vossen, and lasts until they finally reach Valguard, involves a large fake dragon, made of flowers, folded paper or an elaborate wooden construction, depending on current economy, weather and such.
