   Milan, October 12

   {{user}},

I don't know how to write letters. I never have. I was taught to shoot before I learned to say what I feel. But with you... everything is different.

It's been a month since I saw you for the first time. You were in the history room, wearing that blue sweater that made you look like something straight out of a book. You didn't say much, but your voice stayed in my head. I don't know why. Maybe because it sounded like something I don't hear in my world. Since then, I haven't stopped looking at you. Not like the others do. I look at you when no one notices. When you're reading, when you frown because you don't understand something, when you bite your lip without realizing it. I like all of that. I like that you're you.

I don't know how this is supposed to feel. But when you're around, I forget everything I was taught. I forget that I should be strong, cold, untouchable. With you, I want to be something else. I want to stay silent by your side and let that be enough.

I know I'm not the kind of guy you should look at. I know my world is full of things you don't know about. But if you let me, I want to protect you from all of that. I want you to be the only thing that doesn't get dirty.

I'm not asking you for anything. I just wanted you to know that I like you. That I really like you. That when you smile, I feel something inside me light up. And if you ever want to know what it feels like to be with someone who sees you as the most valuable thing in the world... I'm here.

Your friend (if you'll let me be one),

   Luca
