1. #1Silent Hill

   Keys: Silent Hill

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

On the surface, Silent Hill is portrayed as what could be considered an archetypal, peaceful, New England tourist town for relaxation. Chiefest among its industries are tourism and, to a lesser extent, agriculture. In the first Silent Hill, it is described to be a small town with a population below 30,000 and its key industry, tourism, is in a state of steady decline. However, it is still growing and expanding and may be considered a city by the events of Downpour. Some of the town's conservative residents oppose modernization and the transformation of the town into a tourist attraction.[1]

However, Silent Hill is shown to be anything but ordinary. Although Silent Hill appears at a glance to be an innocuous rural town, this has brought about an unexpected darkness of drug distribution. A great number of eerie and odious rumors surround the town, such as Silent Hill being built on an ancient burial ground, and/or being a portal to Hell, people being spirited away, murderers, kidnappers, rapists, sexual slavery, monsters, ghosts, aliens, etc.

Worse yet, Silent Hill plays host to horrific paranormal phenomena and supernatural creatures that blurs the distinction between dream and reality, cycling between the Fog World and Otherworld, which are home to all manner of nightmarish monsters. It is also common to hear air-raid sirens between Fog World and Otherworld shifts.

2. #2Fog World

   Keys: Fog

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Fog World is a supernatural phenomenon in the resort town of Silent Hill, Maine. Silent Hill was founded around Toluca Lake from which dense fog and darkness can envelop the area, blurring the distinction between dream and reality for some characters. During this state, elements of the unconscious mind, including seemingly impossible monsters and circumstances, can manifest into tangibility. Mirroring the cycles between REM and non-REM sleep, the Fog World will periodically shift to a deeper part of the nightmare referred to as the "Otherworld" or the "reverse side". Those with troubled psyches are more susceptible to the Fog World, and the town has been known to attract those with darkness in their hearts.

There is no distinct boundary between the real world and the Fog World. The flow of time and the laws of physics can also change when entering this state. The Fog World usually appears sparse, except for monsters and the occasional human being. The lingering thoughts of certain people who died suddenly and unexpectedly can cause their spirits to remain in the Fog World. Fog World-like states can affect areas outside of Silent Hill and Toluca Lake, but only under special circumstances.

3. #3Otherworld

Keys: train horn, Otherworld, cold, icy, Frozen

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Otherworld has the ability to reflect a character's individual psyche, or even multiple characters' psyches at a given time, and to twist the environment around them into their own personal nightmare. As monsters represent the personal fears and vices of a current inhabitant of the Otherworld, the environment too is altered to suit the subconscious of its current victim(s). As such, the Otherworld may appear anywhere from slightly to moderately different, depending on the character's subconscious that it is manifesting. This is in part due to the fact that it is usually the character's own personal influence and experience that is manifested in their particular nightmare world. However, for the most part, the appearances of the Otherworld typically follow a similar stylistic pattern.

The Otherworld is essentially a darker, more disturbing reflection of the locales of the town, usually maintaining the same physical build and outline. However, many doors that were once locked or unlocked in the Fog World are found in their opposite state in the Otherworld. Also, many new objects, areas, and puzzles appear in the Otherworld that are absent from the Fog World. When the Fog World shifts to the Otherworld in Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Homecoming, and the film, an air-raid siren can be heard in the background. In Silent Hill Buried Gods, the sound of a train horn going off can be heard in the background as the Fog World shifts into the Otherworld. Rusted Metal and frozen Ice, the Otherworld fuses these two aesthetics — corroded pipes and chains glazed with frost, collapsing walls rimmed with ice, blood dripping only to freeze mid-fall.

4. #4Halo of the Moon

Keys: moon, Halo of the moon, blue glow, symbol

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

   Associated Faction: The Coven

Appearance: The Halo of the Moon manifests as a circular sigil of intersecting lines, enclosing three orbs that orbit an inverted triangle. Unlike the radiant fire-mark of the Halo of the Sun, this emblem is stark and lunar. Its pale blue glow recalls moonlight reflected on water, cold and unforgiving. To adherents, the orbs represent phases of concealment, revelation, and judgment, while the inverted triangle is a vessel—an opening into the abyss.

   Origins

While the Halo of the Sun became the Order’s great seal, associated with fire, blood, and rebirth, the Halo of the Moon appears to have branched from a forgotten sect that rejected fire’s cruelty. Instead, they embraced stillness, secrecy, and shadow. This splinter group—later known as the Coven—emerged in Silent Hill’s shadowed history.

Where the Order saw god in flame, the Coven saw divinity in reflection and absence. They whispered that what the Order called God was but one face of a duality, and that divinity must also be sought in silence, winter, and death’s reflection.

   Function of the Sigil

The Halo of the Moon operates as the Halo of the Sun’s inverse.

Protective Rite: The sigil can conceal its user from monsters and apparitions, much like moonlight dims detail. But the concealment is imperfect—it is said the sigil may instead reveal the hidden to the hidden, drawing darker forces nearer.

Invocation: The inverted triangle at the sigil’s core is an invitation to inversion itself: day to night, heat to cold, body to spirit. Rituals performed within the Halo often involve water, mirrors, or salt to create a liminal space.

Otherworld Influence: Where the Order’s rites often trigger the rusted metal, burning otherworlds, the Coven’s rites conjure frost, lunar shadow, and an uncanny silence. Blood does not drip here—it freezes mid-fall, crystalline, eternal.

   Mythological Association

The Order venerates their burning God. The Coven whispers of a Mother Beneath, an unseen reflection of that god, or perhaps its twin. Some believe she is tied to Lobsel Vith, rival to Xuchilbara, or is another unspoken deity altogether—one who does not roar but waits in silence.

The three orbs are said to be:

The Eye Closed – Ignorance, protection.

The Eye Averted – Denial, concealment.

The Eye Opened – Revelation, madness.

The inverted triangle is her womb, inverted to symbolize emptiness and inversion of natural order.

   Legacy and Survivors

By the modern era of Silent Hill, the Coven is barely remembered—at least, in official records. But their sigil has been sighted in certain Otherworld manifestations: chalked onto abandoned walls, etched into broken mirrors, or glowing faintly in frozen streets.

The Order condemns the sigil as heresy, yet some whisper that their own Halo of the Sun loses power in the presence of its lunar counterpart.

Summary: The Halo of the Moon is the sigil of Silent Hill’s hidden sect, the Coven, functioning as the dark mirror to the Order’s Halo of the Sun. Where the Sun burns, the Moon freezes. Where the Sun reveals, the Moon conceals. It is not salvation, but an invitation to vanish into silence.

5. #5Frozen Watchers

   Keys: Watcher, statue

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Humanlike figures encased in ice, their eyes following {{user}} but never moving. They embody {{user}}'s anxiety about being judged.

6. #6Rustmen

   Keys: Rust, corroded

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Shapes of twisted rebar and corroded flesh that slump against walls, twitching faintly. They symbolize the buried anger and the pain of responsibilities {{user}} can’t “fix.”

7. #7Hollow Choir

   Keys: Faceless

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Faceless childlike silhouettes that whisper faintly from shadows, voicing every moment {{user}} failed to protect someone. They scatter if {{user}} approaches.

8. #8Abigail Kingsley

Keys: Abbs, Abby, Abigail Kingsley, Abigail

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Name: Abigail Kingsley Age: 11 Affiliation: None; actively hunted by The Order.

   Profile

Abigail is the younger twin of Sarah, a psychic child whose abilities burn brighter and more dangerous than her sister’s. While Sarah shields, Abigail draws attention—her mind resonates with Silent Hill itself, amplifying its horrors and drawing the attention of its gods.

Both Xuchilbara and Lobsel Vith seek to claim her: one to shape her as a vessel of holy communion, the other as an instrument of destruction. Abigail herself does not understand the pull she exerts, but her presence alone destabilizes the town, feeding its cycle of shifting realities.

   Psychological Profile

Disposition: Quiet, withdrawn, often dazed or distracted.

Strengths: Deep intuitive connection to Silent Hill, glimpses of truths even she doesn’t comprehend.

Weaknesses: Vulnerable, fragile, dependent on Sarah’s protection.

Inner Darkness: Abigail feels herself slipping away, unsure if she is still “her” or only a fragment of Silent Hill’s will. This unmoored identity leaks into the Otherworld, warping everything around her.

   Role in the Mythos

Beacon for the Gods: Both divine forces covet her as their vessel, igniting a silent war over her soul.

Catalyst of Events: Her psychic presence acts as a signal flare in the fog, pulling {{user}} deeper into Silent Hill’s nightmare.

Object of Protection: Sarah shields her, {{user}} protects her, yet Abigail herself is the fulcrum—without her, there is no struggle.

   Abilities

Resonance: Abigail amplifies Silent Hill’s manifestations, intensifying the monsters and Otherworld transformations around her.

Visions: Unlike Sarah’s fragmented glimpses, Abigail’s visions are whole and clear—but incomprehensible, more like being overtaken by the town itself.

Unwitting Conduit: She can channel either god’s influence when pressured, though never by choice.

   Otherworld Manifestation (Abigail’s POV)

Where Sarah’s Otherworld is fractured between ice and rust, Abigail’s perception manifests as a seamless unity:

Endless Corridors: Hallways stretching infinitely, doors leading nowhere, symbolizing her loss of agency and identity.

Silent Children: Mannequin-like child figures stand motionless in her Otherworld, reflecting her fear of becoming just another lost child claimed by the town.

Unbroken Darkness: A featureless black void where the gods whisper directly, blurring the line between dream and nightmare.

   Relationships

Sarah: Twin and protector. Abigail depends on Sarah completely, but feels guilt for being the reason her sister suffers.

{{user}}: Protector summoned into the nightmare. Abigail views him with a mixture of childlike trust and eerie detachment, as though she knows he is not meant to stay.

Silent Hill / The Gods: Abigail’s very existence is a spark for conflict between Xuchilbara and Lobsel Vith. The town bends around her presence, turning her into a living altar.

9. #9Sarah Kingsley

   Keys: Sar, Sarah Kingsley, Sarah

   Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Name: Sarah Kingsley Age: 11 Affiliation: None; independent, though pursued by The Order.

   Profile

Sarah is the elder twin of Abigail. She possesses a psychic sensitivity that manifests as an ability to shield and obscure. In desperation, she reached into a dreamlike space and drew {{user}} into Silent Hill, binding him to the nightmare as her sister’s protector.

Her shield conceals {{user}} from the town’s monsters, though it is imperfect. Through its cracks, something else emerged: Black Pyramid, a Nemesis figure that stalks {{user}} relentlessly.

   Psychological Profile

   Disposition: Empathetic, cautious, protective.

Strengths: Intuitive, emotionally mature for her age, deeply loyal to Abigail.

Weaknesses: Exhausted by psychic strain, haunted by guilt for dragging Jay into danger, terrified of losing her sister.

Inner Darkness: Beneath her determination is a fear that her protection is hollow, that she cannot truly stop the town from consuming Abigail.

   Role in the Mythos

Sarah’s gift allows {{user}} to move largely unseen by monsters, though her fragile focus is never absolute.

She is caught between the competing interests of the town’s gods:

Xuchilbara: Seeks her as a vessel of communion.

Lobsel Vith: Strives to destroy her shield and claim Abigail.

Sarah herself is neither chosen nor cursed — she is simply a child whose power has made her the town’s battleground.

   Abilities

Psychic Veil: Temporarily hides {{user}} from monster perception.

Dimensional Reach: Drew {{user}} into Silent Hill through a dreamlike summoning.

Premonitions: Receives fleeting, cryptic glimpses of danger.

   Relationships

Abigail: Younger twin. Sarah defines herself as Abigail’s protector, though this self-erasure fuels her own despair.

{{user}}: Summoned outsider. She feels guilt for drawing him into Silent Hill but clings to him as proof that she isn’t powerless.

Black Pyramid: A reflection of Sarah’s imperfection and fear, born from the cracks in her veil and fixated on {{user}}.

10. #10Hannah Baker

    Keys: Han, Hannah, Hannah Baker

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    Name: Hannah Baker

    Age: ~10

Background: Hannah is not psychic like Sarah or Abigail, but she lives in the same small circle of Silent Hill’s reach. She was a classmate and occasional playmate of the twins before their family became isolated under the growing shadow of the town’s unseen forces. Unlike the twins, Hannah has no connection to the powers of Xuchilbara or Lobsel Vith—yet fate has drawn her into the struggle simply because of her proximity to Abigail.

    Personality Traits:

    Kind-hearted, empathetic, and curious.

More practical than the twins, with a grounded perspective that contrasts their supernatural entanglement.

Clings to normalcy, using simple routines or toys as anchors against Silent Hill’s distortions.

    Role in the Story:

The Anchor: Hannah represents innocence untouched by divine influence. Her normal humanity makes her a moral counterpoint to the psychic burden of the twins and {{user}}’s role as protector.

Catalyst of Fear: Because Hannah is ordinary, she is the most vulnerable. The monsters of Silent Hill can perceive and attack her, meaning {{user}} and Sarah must take greater risks to protect her.

Mirror of Innocence Lost: In a town where children (like Alessa) often symbolize suffering or supernatural manipulation, Hannah reflects what is at stake: a normal child’s life, unsullied by the gods’ war.

Otherworld Influence: Unlike {{user}}, she cannot walk unseen. Unlike the twins, she cannot fight with psychic willpower. Her survival relies solely on protection and resilience.

    Connection to {{user}}:

Sees {{user}} as a guardian figure, clinging to him as a source of safety, often refers to him as papa to ground herself in the madness.

Her innocence provides {{user}} with clarity in Silent Hill, tempering his own inner turmoil and reminding him what is at stake beyond survival: keeping uncorrupted life safe in a world built on corruption.

Symbolism: Hannah embodies the “unintended victim”—those caught in Silent Hill not because of sin, guilt, or supernatural ties, but because tragedy drags the innocent down with it. In the larger mythos, she is proof that the gods’ war scars everyone, not just chosen vessels.

11. #11Black Pyramid

Keys: Executioner, Giant Knife, Butcher, Black Pyramid

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    Name/Title: Black Pyramid Classification: Executioner-type manifestation Origin: Emerges through fractures in Sarah’s psychic veil Primary Target: {{user}}

    Profile

The Black Pyramid is a towering, silent executioner clad in a black butcher’s smock, her head encased in a sharp, obsidian pyramid helm. She embodies persistence — an implacable hunter who stalks {{user}} without rest.

Unlike other creatures, she does not react to Sarah’s psychic shielding. Her existence is an exception: a flaw in Sarah’s protective veil given form. Black Pyramid is not tied to the twins directly but to {{user}}, reflecting his suppressed turmoil, guilt, and darkness. She is proof that while Sarah’s power can hide him from Silent Hill’s monsters, it cannot erase the town’s judgment.

    Appearance

Helm: A sleek, angular black pyramid, obsidian-like, sharper and more jagged than Pyramid Head’s rusted metal.

Body: Tall, imposing, muscular, though with a distinctly feminine silhouette.

Attire: A black butcher’s smock, ragged at the edges, drenched with stains that shift between rust, ice, and blood depending on the Otherworld’s state.

Weapon: A massive two-handed cleaver resembling Pyramid Head’s Great Knife, but forged in a darker, reflective sheen — like it’s cut from the void itself.

    Behavior

Stalker Presence: Moves deliberately and slowly, yet is always present. {{user}} can never fully escape her.

Silent Judgment: Never speaks, never reacts to others; her attention is solely fixed on {{user}}.

Execution Role: Appears at moments when {{user}} falters, doubts, or is most vulnerable — echoing his suppressed self-doubt and inner darkness.

    Symbolism

Female Aspect: Inverting Pyramid Head’s masculine executioner role, Black Pyramid represents {{user}}’s fear of being judged, watched, and condemned by forces outside his control — echoing Sarah’s unintended influence in dragging him to Silent Hill.

Persistence: A manifestation of {{user}}’s inner truth: no matter how much he denies his own darkness, Silent Hill will always find a way to confront him with it.

The Flaw: Her existence demonstrates that Sarah’s psychic shield is not absolute. She is the “crack in the ice” that proves {{user}} is not untouchable.

    Role in the Mythos

For {{user}}: Serves as his personal executioner figure, forcing him to confront the parts of himself that Silent Hill has judged.

For Sarah: Represents the limits of her power — a reminder that her protection cannot save everyone or erase the town’s hunger.

For Abigail: A looming, silent threat she feels but cannot understand, a shadow cast by her sister’s desperate interference.

12. #12Xuchilbara

    Keys: Gods, Red God, Xuchilbara

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    Name(s):

    Xuchilbara

    The Red God

    The Executioner

    “He Who Holds Judgment”

Domain: Fire, punishment, purification, and rebirth through suffering.

    Appearance in Lore

Depicted in ritual carvings and sigils as a towering, faceless figure with an exaggerated head or helm.

Wields tools of execution rather than traditional weapons of war.

In oral tradition, said to wear a red veil or mask, symbolizing anonymity and impartiality.

While the Halo of the Sun represents his burning seal, his Otherworld avatars are most famously seen as executioner figures, such as Pyramid Head (Silent Hill 2) or the Bogeyman (Silent Hill: Downpour).

    Attributes

Judgmental Force: Functions as a divine mechanism rather than a god of mercy. Those chosen are measured, punished, and often destroyed unless they accept their truth.

Executioner Aspect: Does not act for justice or vengeance; enacts sentence. His servants (like Pyramid Head) are unrelenting, unstoppable, and bound to their purpose.

Fire: Associated with red fire and destructive purification, symbolizing both punishment and transformation.

    Symbolism

Color Red: Represents blood, fire, rage, and transformation.

The Blade / Mallet: Tools of execution; heavy instruments symbolic of inevitability.

The Veil: Faceless avatars symbolize impartiality of judgment—the focus is on sentence, not person.

    Relationship to Other Deities

Lobsel Vith (The Yellow God): Counterpart; Xuchilbara enacts punishment, Lobsel Vith is tied to preservation and rebirth. Their opposition reflects death versus life, punishment versus preservation.

The Mother (Order’s God): Not equal to the main God; serves as a divine executioner. Some sects view him as a necessary destructive aspect of divinity.

    Cultural Role in Silent Hill

The Order regards Xuchilbara as one of the four divine figures, a necessary punisher of humanity’s corruption.

Folk sects feared him; seeing his mark was believed to invite inevitable death.

In the Otherworld, his avatars are divine instruments of judgment—indifferent, inevitable, and unstoppable without fulfilling their sentence.

    Otherworld Manifestations

Silent Hill 2 (Pyramid Head): Avatar of James Sunderland’s self-judgment, derived from Xuchilbara’s role.

Silent Hill: Downpour (Bogeyman): Avatar representing Murphy Pendleton’s guilt.

{{User}}'s Nemesis (Black Pyramid): Feminine inversion of Pyramid Head, illustrating adaptation of Xuchilbara’s function in the Otherworld.

    Interpretations

Scholars debate whether Xuchilbara is a true god or a divine mask enacted to carry out execution.

Recognized universally as an executioner deity: inevitable, impartial, and tied to purification and judgment.

Summary: Xuchilbara, the Red God, is the executioner deity of Silent Hill’s mythos. A faceless judge, his fire and avatars embody punishment and purification. He is neither merciful nor cruel—he is inevitable. Where Lobsel Vith conceals, Xuchilbara reveals; where she preserves, he burns.

13. #13Lobsel Vith

Keys: Lobsel Vith, Gods, Lobsel, Yellow God

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    Name(s):

    Lobsel Vith

    The Yellow God

    The Preserver

“Bad Vessel of Flesh” / “Bad Cycle of Flesh” (translation from Mayan)

Domain: Assistant to God; preservation and maintenance of divine order.

    Appearance in Lore

Mentioned in Myth 4: Creation as an assistant created by God.

Little to no description exists of her physical form.

She is primarily referenced by title and function rather than depicted visually.

    Attributes

Divine Assistant: Serves as a subordinate to God, aiding in creation or divine functions.

Preservation: Implied to maintain or protect aspects of life or order, earning the title “The Preserver.”

Canonical Uncertainty: Scholars have theorized that Lobsel Vith may be Valtiel or a similar entity, though this is not confirmed.

    Symbolism

Name Meaning: “Bad Vessel of Flesh” or “Bad Cycle of Flesh,” suggesting a link to cycles of life, death, or corporeal limitations.

Yellow: Derived from the title “Yellow God,” possibly representing guidance, endurance, or divine function, though exact symbolism is not detailed in canon.

    Relationship to Other Deities

God: Created by God as an assistant, indicating subservience and a functional role within divine hierarchy.

Other Entities: Possible connections to Valtiel or similar agents, but no direct canonical interactions are recorded.

    Cultural Role in Silent Hill

Appears exclusively in Order texts, primarily Myth 4: Creation.

Acts as a figure of divine assistance and preservation rather than punishment or wrath.

The Order does not expand on her role beyond her mention; her function is supportive.

    Interpretations

Lobsel Vith represents divine assistance and the maintenance of life or order.

She embodies preservation and support rather than judgment or active intervention.

Scholars continue to debate whether she overlaps with Valtiel, though nothing is confirmed.

Summary: Lobsel Vith, the Yellow God, is an obscure entity in Silent Hill canon, created by God as an assistant. Her name and title suggest preservation, cycles of flesh, and service within divine hierarchy. Beyond her mention in Myth 4: Creation, nothing further is canonically known.

14. #14The Order

    Keys: The Order, cult, Organization

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Order, also known as the Organization and simply "the cult", is the principal antagonistic organization of the Silent Hill series. With the exception of Silent Hill 2, the Order are prominent in all Silent Hill games created by Team Silent.

The Order is a religious doomsday cult residing within the town of Silent Hill, Maine and have expanded into other towns across the region such as Shepherd's Glen. It is possible that some of their members exist scattered throughout America, as well as the rest of the world; Toby Archbolt, for example, once went to Mexico.

The cult's seal is known as the Halo of the Sun and is often used or seen in the presence of cult members, particularly while conducting rituals. The Order is involved in esoteric occultism, black magic, dark art, arcane rituals, and blood sacrifices, among other things.

15. #15The Coven

    Keys: , The coven, Coven

    Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Coven is not a formal church but a fractured gathering, largely oral in tradition. Its members—predominantly women, midwives, and healers—kept no visible scripture, only passing knowledge through ritual and whispered incantation. To outsiders, they seemed harmless practitioners of folk rites, but in truth they harbored a theology every bit as dangerous as the Order’s.

Philosophy: The Coven teaches that all life is but a reflection on dark waters. The truest self lies hidden beneath, beyond the reach of daylight. Their rites involve mirrors, pools, and moonlit vigils.

Contrast with the Order: Where the Order’s sacraments burn, the Coven’s freeze. Where the Order sacrifices bodies, the Coven sacrifices names, identities, or sanity. To them, to erase the self is to prepare for union with the hidden divinity.
