- #1U.A. Sports Festival Arc
Keys: Cavalry Battle, Sports Festival, Obstacle Race, U.A. Sports Festival Arc
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The U.A. Sports Festival Arc is the fifth story arc in My Hero Academia, part of the U.A. Beginnings Saga. It spans Chapters 22-44 (Volumes 3-5) and Episodes 14-25 of Season 2.
Timeline & Context
Takes place shortly after the U.S.J. incident. The arc occurs over approximately two weeks of preparation followed by the festival day itself, with two days of rest afterward.
Major Events
The Festival Structure
A nationally televised tournament featuring U.A.'s first-year students, watched by pro heroes for recruitment purposes. Consists of three stages:
-
Obstacle Race (4km around stadium): Features villain robots, The Fall (rope canyon), and a minefield. Izuku places 1st using strategic mine detonation, Shoto 2nd, Katsuki 3rd.
-
Cavalry Battle (15 minutes): Teams compete for headbands with point values. Izuku's 10-million-point headband makes him the primary target. Final standings: Team Todoroki (1st), Team Bakugo (2nd), Team Shinso (3rd), Team Midoriya (4th).
-
Tournament Finals: Single-elimination bracket. Katsuki Bakugo wins after defeating a reluctant Shoto Todoroki who refused to use his fire powers in the final match.
Character Developments
Izuku Midoriya: Discovers One For All contains "imprints" of previous users after mysterious figures help him break Hitoshi's brainwashing. Defeats Hitoshi but loses to Shoto in the semifinals, suffering severe injuries that leave permanent scars on his right hand. Learns All Might was also born Quirkless.
Shoto Todoroki: His tragic past is revealed—son of Endeavor (Hero #2) and Rei Todoroki, product of a Quirk Marriage designed to create a child surpassing All Might. Endured abusive training and witnessed his mother's mental breakdown, resulting in her throwing boiling water on his face (causing his scar) before hospitalization. Refused to use his fire side out of spite toward his father. After his battle with Izuku, who tells him "it's your power, not his," Shoto begins accepting his fire abilities and later visits his hospitalized mother to reconcile.
Ochaco Uraraka: Reveals her goal to become a hero for money—to support her struggling construction-business family. Despite elaborate meteor-shower strategy, loses to Katsuki in the quarterfinals.
Katsuki Bakugo: Wins the festival but remains furious about his "unworthy" victory since Shoto didn't use full power. His aggressive behavior during the festival catches the attention of both civilians (who see him as "villain-like") and the League of Villains.
Tenya Ida: Receives devastating news during the festival—his brother Tensei (hero Ingenium) was critically injured by the Hero Killer Stain and can no longer be a hero.
New Introductions
- Endeavor (Enji Todoroki): Hero #2, Shoto's abusive father obsessed with surpassing All Might
- Hitoshi Shinso: General Department student with Brainwashing Quirk, determined to join Heroics despite his "villainous" power
- Hero Killer Stain (Chizome Akaguro): Extremist villain killing "false heroes," believes only All Might is worthy. Approached by Kurogiri for League recruitment
- Class 1-B students: Multiple rivals introduced including Neito Monoma, Itsuka Kendo, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, Ibara Shiozaki
- Mei Hatsume: Support Department student who uses her match to advertise inventions
Story Impact
- Establishes Quirk Marriages as societal practice
- Reveals One For All's deeper nature beyond super-strength
- Sets up Tenya's revenge arc against Stain
- Foreshadows Katsuki's future kidnapping by villains

- Shoto begins path toward reconciliation with his past and family
Tournament Results
1st: Katsuki Bakugo | 2nd: Shoto Todoroki | 3rd: Fumikage Tokoyami | 4th: Tenya Ida
The arc ends with students taking two days rest, during which Shoto visits his mother, Ochaco celebrates with her parents, and Izuku contemplates finding his own "starting line" for using One For All safely.

- #2U.A. School Festival Arc
Keys: School Festival, Gentle Criminal, U.A. School Festival Arc
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The U.A. School Festival Arc is the thirteenth story arc in My Hero Academia and the fourth arc in the Rise of Villains Saga. It corresponds to manga chapters 169-183 and anime episodes 81-86 (Season 4).
Timeline & Placement
This arc occurs immediately after the Remedial Course Arc and before the Pro Hero Arc. It takes place during the academic year at U.A. High School, following the events of the Shie Hassaikai operation where Eri was rescued.
Key Events
Festival Preparation: Class 1-A decides to perform a live band and dance performance for the U.A. School Festival. Kyoka Jiro leads the band (with Bakugo on drums, Momo on keyboard, Denki and Tokoyami on guitar), while Mina Ashido choreographs the dance team. The festival becomes especially important as Izuku invites Eri to attend, hoping to make her smile for the first time.
Izuku's Training: Under All Might's guidance, Izuku begins developing long-range attacks using wind pressure at 20% One For All power. Mei Hatsume creates specialized support gloves (Air Force Gloves) to help him use these attacks without breaking his fingers, leading to his new technique: Delaware Smash Air Force.
Gentle Criminal's Plot: The villain Gentle Criminal and his partner La Brava plan to infiltrate U.A.'s School Festival to gain notoriety. Unlike violent villains, Gentle seeks recognition by accomplishing a "gentleman's crime" - simply breaching U.A.'s security during the festival.
Battle with Gentle: On festival day (8:30-9:35 AM), Izuku encounters Gentle Criminal while buying supplies. Realizing Gentle's infiltration would trigger alarms and cancel the festival (disappointing Eri and his classmates), Izuku fights to stop him. The battle showcases:
- Gentle's Elasticity Quirk (making surfaces bouncy)
- La Brava's Love Quirk (temporarily boosting Gentle's power)
- Izuku's new Air Force techniques and improved combat analysis
Izuku defeats Gentle with a St. Louis Smash after an intense battle. Gentle surrenders to Hound Dog and Ectoplasm, protecting La Brava and ensuring Izuku can return for the performance.
The Performance: Class 1-A's musical performance (starting at 10:00 AM) is a massive success. The energetic show wins over even their critics from other departments. Most importantly, the performance makes Eri smile for the first time, breaking Overhaul's psychological hold on her. The festival continues with Class 1-B's stage play and a beauty pageant won by Nejire Hado.
Character Development
- Izuku: Develops ranged combat abilities and defeats his first villain solo since obtaining his provisional license
- Kyoka Jiro: Overcomes her insecurity about combining her love of music with heroism
- Eri: Experiences joy and smiles genuinely for the first time, beginning her psychological recovery
- Gentle Criminal: Revealed as a failed hero student (Danjuro Tobita) who became a villain seeking recognition after being forgotten
Story Impact
This arc provides crucial character moments and introduces Izuku's long-range fighting style. It serves as a lighter, more hopeful arc between the dark Shie Hassaikai Arc and the intense Pro Hero Arc, while still advancing combat development and completing Eri's initial rescue arc.

- All For One revealed as alive, leading the League of Villains from the shadows
- Nomu confirmed as artificial humans with multiple Quirks grafted through DNA manipulation

- Izuku masters basic Quirk control, no longer dependent on self-destructive finger-flicking

- #4U.A. Traitor Arc
Keys: Chapters 335-342, traitor, Yuga Aoyama, U.A. Traitor Arc
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The U.A. Traitor Arc is the twenty-first story arc in My Hero Academia and the third arc in the Final Act Saga. It spans Chapters 335-342 (Volumes 34-35) and Episodes 140-143 (Season 7).
Timeline & Context: Following Star and Stripe's sacrifice, her New Order Quirk destroyed several of Tomura Shigaraki's Quirks, forcing him into recovery. With less than half their heroes remaining and Tomura weakened, All Might tells Class 1-A they have a window to prepare for the inevitable final war. The remaining targets include: Tomura, All For One, Dabi, Himiko Toga, six Near High-End Nomu, Paranormal Liberation Front remnants, and escaped convicts.
Major Revelations: Yuga Aoyama is revealed as the "U.A. Traitor." Born Quirkless, his wealthy parents made a deal with All For One ten years prior to give him his Navel Laser Quirk. The incompatible Quirk caused him suffering, and the family lived under All For One's threats of death. Yuga provided information for the U.S.J. Incident and revealed the Training Camp location. When discovered by Toru Hagakure and Izuku, he tearfully confesses.
Resolution & Strategy: Despite betrayal, Class 1-A and Shota Aizawa choose to forgive Yuga and use him to deceive All For One. A Counter-Force assembles at Central Hospital (All Might, Hawks, Ragdoll, Police, American military) to plan separating Tomura and All For One by 10+ kilometers and isolating all major operatives. Yuga is confirmed not booby-trapped like Lady Nagant and agrees to help.
Villain Developments: Dabi gives Himiko a sample of Twice's blood collected during the War, enabling her to use Double. Spinner reluctantly becomes the face of heteromorph villains. All For One has spies within U.A. spreading discord.
Final Preparations: Nezu announces Tomura will be ready in 4 days. Class 1-A relocates to fortress "Troy" 30km from U.A. Students say goodbye to families. Izuku and Ochaco discuss wanting to understand Tomura and Himiko. The operation begins.

- #6Remedial Course Arc
Keys: Hero License Course, Masegaki Primary School, Remedial Course Arc
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Remedial Course Arc is the twelfth story arc in My Hero Academia and the third arc in the Rise of Villains Saga. It follows the aftermath of the Shie Hassaikai Arc in October.
Main Events: Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki attend a mandatory remedial Hero License course after failing the Provisional Hero License Exam's second phase. They are joined by Shiketsu High students Inasa Yoarashi (who also failed) and Camie Utsushimi (who missed the actual exam due to being replaced by villain Himiko Toga using her Transform Quirk). The four students are tasked by Gang Orca with winning the hearts of rowdy elementary school children from Masegaki Primary School—a test of their ability to connect with civilians.
Key Developments:
- Camie is revealed to have survived Toga's assault but has no memory of the incident due to being drugged
- The students successfully connect with the troubled children by using their Quirks creatively, creating an ice slide with aurora-like lights
- Endeavor seeks advice from All Might about becoming the new Symbol of Peace, acknowledging he must find his own path rather than copying All Might's methods
- The Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory is introduced—the concept that Quirks are becoming so powerful through generational mixing that they may eventually become uncontrollable
- Yuga Aoyama befriends Izuku Midoriya after revealing their shared struggle: both have Quirks incompatible with their bodies. Yuga requires his support belt to prevent his Navel Laser from leaking uncontrollably
Outcomes: All four students pass the remedial course. Endeavor shows rare pride in Shoto's growth. The arc emphasizes that being a hero requires heart and connection with people, not just raw power. Nighteye's funeral occurs, and Eri begins recovering with her horn shrinking as her Rewind Quirk stabilizes.
Timeline: Takes place in October, immediately following the Shie Hassaikai Arc and preceding the U.A. School Festival Arc.
- #7Star and Stripe Arc
Keys: Tiamat, Star and Stripe Arc, Cathleen Bate, New Order
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Star and Stripe Arc is the twentieth story arc in My Hero Academia and the second arc in the Final Act Saga. It occurs immediately after the Dark Hero Arc, roughly one month after Tomura Shigaraki's awakening during the Paranormal Liberation War.
Timeline and Placement
The arc takes place with Tomura's body at 98% completion, requiring only two more days before full fusion with All For One. Star and Stripe's sacrifice delays this completion by one week, giving the heroes crucial preparation time before the Final War Arc.
Major Events
- All For One reveals his plan to steal Star and Stripe's Quirk, New Order, before tackling One For All
- America's #1 hero Star and Stripe (Cathleen Bate) arrives in Japan with her fighter squadron to combat "Tomura Shigaraki"
- A massive aerial battle occurs over the Pacific Ocean near Japan, where Star deploys hypersonic cruise missiles (Tiamat) against the villain
- "Tomura" successfully steals New Order but Star's final command causes the Quirk to revolt against his other Quirks from within
- Star and Stripe dies from Decay, but her vestige destroys multiple of "Tomura"'s Quirks including Reflect before New Order is eliminated
- Deep within his core, Tenko Shimura calls out to Izuku Midoriya
- International support for Japan is withdrawn after Star's death
- The heroes gain one additional week and combat data from the fighter pilots
Character Developments
- Tomura and All For One continue merging into a singular being, reaching 98% fusion due to Tomura's intense hatred
- "Tomura" experiences identity confusion, uncertain whether he is Tomura Shigaraki, All For One, or Tenko Shimura
- Skeptic regains contact with Paranormal Liberation Front remnants
- All Might receives critical bio-signature and Quirk data from Star's battle
Arc Significance
This arc serves as a crucial delay tactic in All For One's plans while demonstrating the global scale of the threat. Star and Stripe's sacrifice—though she dies—significantly weakens "Tomura" by destroying several of his stolen Quirks and buying the heroes essential time to prepare for the Final War Arc. The international response also highlights Japan's isolation in facing this threat.
- #8Pro Hero Arc
Keys: High-End Nomu, Pro Hero Arc, Hood, Endeavor
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Pro Hero Arc is the fourteenth story arc in My Hero Academia and the fifth arc in the Rise of Villains Saga. Set in late November following the U.A. School Festival, this arc marks Endeavor's official rise to the No. 1 Hero position after All Might's retirement.
Key Events
Eri's Transfer to U.A.: As November ends, Eri is transferred to U.A. High School under Shota Aizawa's care, as her mother abandoned her and her grandfather (the Shie Hassaikai boss) remains in a coma. Her horn, the source of her Rewind Quirk, is growing, requiring monitoring to prevent her power from going out of control.
Hero Billboard Chart JP: The second-semester Hero Billboard Chart is announced in Kamino, revealing the new top ten heroes without All Might for the first time. Endeavor is officially named the new No. 1 Hero, with Hawks rising to No. 2. Other rankings include: Mirko (No. 5), Crust (No. 6), Edgeshot (No. 4), and Ryukyu (No. 10). Best Jeanist holds No. 3 but is absent due to recovery from his fight with All For One.
Battle Against Hood: Hawks brings Endeavor to Kyushu to investigate Nomu rumors. They are attacked by Hood, a High-End Nomu with multiple Quirks including Transforming Arms, Shoulder-Mounted Jets, Power, Storage, and super-regeneration. Unlike previous Nomu, Hood can think rationally and speak. During the intense battle, Endeavor suffers severe injuries including damage to his left eye. With Hawks' assistance using his Fierce Wings Quirk, Endeavor ultimately defeats Hood using Plus Ultra Prominence Burn, though he is left with a permanent scar on the left side of his face.
Dabi's Appearance: After the battle, Dabi confronts Endeavor, calling him by his real name "Enji Todoroki" and stating they will meet again. It's revealed that Dabi and Hawks arranged Hood's attack as part of a plan. Hawks was deployed by the Hero Public Safety Commission as a double agent to infiltrate the League of Villains. A character named Daruma Ujiko (who possesses a Warping Quirk similar to All For One) assists Dabi's escape.
Todoroki Family Drama: The arc explores Endeavor's family situation. His wife Rei remains hospitalized but shows signs of improvement, though she's still afraid to meet Enji face-to-face. Natsuo, Shoto's older brother, is introduced and expresses deep resentment toward Endeavor for his past abuse, mentioning their deceased brother Toya. Despite Natsuo's anger, Rei believes Enji is genuinely trying to atone. After the battle, Endeavor resolves to face his past and work toward becoming a better parent, though he acknowledges it may be too late.
Izuku's Vestige Dream: In the arc's conclusion, Izuku experiences a prophetic dream showing the origin of One For All. He witnesses All For One and his younger brother in a dystopian era when Quirks first emerged. The vision reveals how All For One manipulated society by taking and giving Quirks to gather loyal followers, while forcibly giving his Quirkless brother a stockpiling Quirk—which combined with the brother's unknown Quirk to create One For All. Unlike previous users, Izuku can interact with the vestiges of past One For All wielders, with the First User directly speaking to him. Upon waking, Izuku discovers One For All activated on its own, causing his right hand to glow.
Timeline Context
This arc occurs approximately three months after All Might's retirement at Kamino. It introduces the concept that society lacks a clear "Symbol of Peace," leading to increased anxiety and the spread of rumors about Nomu sightings across Japan. The reprinting of Destro's Meta Liberation War autobiography is mentioned as influencing extremist ideology.
- #9Quirk Apprehension Test Arc
Keys: Quirk Apprehension Test Arc, Quirk Apprehension Test, first day at U.A.
Enabled · Depth 4 · role not set · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The Quirk Apprehension Test Arc is the second story arc in My Hero Academia, part of the U.A. Beginnings Saga. It covers Chapters 5-7 and Episodes 5-6 of Season 1.
Plot Summary
On the first day at U.A. High School, Class 1-A's homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa (Eraser Head) subjects students to a Quirk Apprehension Test on the P.E. Grounds. He threatens that the student ranking last will be expelled immediately. During the test, Izuku Midoriya struggles because using his One For All Quirk injures him severely. When Izuku attempts his pitch throw, Aizawa uses his Erasure Quirk to nullify One For All, then challenges Izuku to prove he can be a hero without crippling himself.
Izuku devises a solution: he concentrates One For All into just his fingertip during the pitch, achieving a high score while keeping most of his body functional. This impresses Aizawa, who allows him to continue. Katsuki Bakugo, shocked that Izuku has a Quirk, furiously attacks him but is restrained by Aizawa's Capturing Weapon.
After all tests conclude, Aizawa reveals the expulsion threat was a "logical ruse" to motivate maximum performance, though he did expel an entire class the previous year. Izuku befriends Ochaco Uraraka and Tenya Iida. The arc ends with All Might announcing their first heroics class will be the Trial of Battle.

- Izuku learns to use One For All more strategically
- Katsuki discovers Izuku's Quirk, deepening his resentment

The power goes berserk until Hitoshi Shinso uses his Brainwashing quirk to stop it. Izuku has a vision where Daigoro explains that One For All has matured enough to grant access to the previous users' quirks—six additional powers beyond the raw strength enhancement.
The arc reveals that One For All contains a core of quirk factors from all previous users, which has begun expanding as the power grows stronger. All For One, imprisoned in Tartarus, senses his brother's presence returning.

Shoto Todoroki learns to generate flames hot enough to melt steel while managing his body temperature.

Key Events
Initial Encounter: Izuku is saved from a villain attack by All Might, the #1 Hero known as the "Symbol of Peace." When Izuku asks if he can become a hero without a Quirk, All Might initially tells him to be realistic. However, after witnessing Izuku's bravery in attempting to rescue his childhood bully Katsuki Bakugo from a Sludge Villain, All Might changes his stance.
Inheritance of One For All: All Might reveals his transferable Quirk, One For All, and chooses Izuku as his successor. U.A. Entrance Exam: On exam day, All Might transfers One For All to Izuku by having him consume a strand of his hair. The exam consists of a written test and a practical robot-fighting component. Despite struggling throughout the practical test, Izuku uses One For All for the first time to destroy a massive zero-point robot and save fellow examinee Ochaco Uraraka, though the power shatters his limbs. While he scores zero villain points, Izuku earns 60 rescue points for his heroic act, allowing him to pass and gain acceptance to U.A. High School.
