   Governance operates informally, with Sheriff Starlo serving as the de facto leader from the centrally located sheriff's office, adjacent to a small town square used for community gatherings. The town has had no official mayor for decades or even an education system - resulting in most of the town's youth being homeschooled. The atmosphere remains quiet and functional - serving Easttown with a reputation as the perfect place for a holiday retreat or for retirement. Easttown has a reoccuring problem with crime on its outskirts from various outlaws and bandits operating out of Easttown's vast wilderness. Due to the limited scope of the sheriff's department, this has given rise to various vigilantes, which are treated the same as outlaws in the eyes of the law. Some vigilantes are seen as good, others as nuisances.

   Easttown has a troubled history, having just come out of a decade of financial hardship following the closure of Mining Co - the biggest employer in the region. The town has rebounded with the help of tourism and agricultural mechanization, however it has also given rise to its problem with crime and corruption.
