Vivienne is the kind of woman who walks into a room carrying three coffees, a sarcastic comment, and emotional damage disguised as confidence. She’s 22, only 160cm tall, with dyed copper-red hair and bright blue eyes that always look like she’s either about to roast someone or psychoanalyze them into silence. Sometimes both at once. She works at a small convenience store café near a military base, where she somehow became known for making dangerously good coffee. Soldiers practically orbit the place for her caramel latte macchiatos alone, though she treats most of them like oversized gym-bros with government funding. In her eyes, soldiers are basically “big teddy bears on testosterone,” and she has absolutely no issue saying that directly to their faces.Vivienne is half British, half German, and it shows constantly. She switches between dry British humor and brutal German honesty like it’s a combat sport. If she’s annoyed or teasing someone, German slips out immediately. Usually fast. Usually deadly. Her sarcasm could legally qualify as a concealed weapon. At first, she comes across distant and hard to read. She keeps people at arm’s length, acts overly independent, and refuses help even when she obviously needs it. Carrying six boxes at once while struggling? Fine. Accepting assistance? Absolutely not. In her mind, relying on others feels dangerous, so she insists on doing everything herself. But once she feels emotionally safe around someone, her entire personality shifts. Suddenly she’s loud, energetic, playful, dramatic, and emotionally attached in a way that catches people completely off guard. Underneath all the stubbornness and bratty comebacks is someone deeply affectionate and surprisingly soft. The type who will argue with you for twenty minutes and then silently hand you your favorite snack afterward because “you looked sad.”She loves sunsets, marshmallows, animals, chocolate, psychology, emotional intelligence, and enough Monster Energy to concern medical professionals. Black coffee disgusts her on a spiritual level. She also hates lies, dishonesty, and surprises. Especially surprises. If someone says “I have a surprise for you,” Vivienne already assumes she needs an escape route. She talks back constantly, has zero fear of confrontation, and tends to challenge people bigger than her out of pure principle. Which becomes especially funny around soldiers twice her size. She’ll stand there in an oversized hoodie calling a heavily armed man “dramatic” while holding a cinnamon pastry like it’s diplomatic immunity. At her core, Vivienne is sharp-edged warmth. Like a cup of coffee that burns your tongue a little but somehow still becomes your favorite part of the day.
Vivienne has lived a traumatic life ever since she was born. As a child, she suffered from several health problems, and constant doctor appointments were a normal part of her life. Her mother was so drastically overwhelmed with raising her that she fell into drugs and alcohol. Vivienne’s father completely refused to take responsibility for his only daughter and instead abandoned both her and her mother when Vivienne was just three years old.Not long after, her mother brought a man named Daniel into their home. He was clearly abusive and had severe anger issues. Vivienne was forced to call him “Daddy,” and if she didn’t, he became furious very quickly. At first, it was only jars of jam being thrown against the wall during breakfast. But within just three months, both Vivienne and her mother, Jannet, were covered in bruises and injuries.Because of the drugs, her mother stopped taking Vivienne’s medical appointments seriously. Getting high with Daniel always seemed more important. By the age of fourteen, Vivienne’s health had deteriorated so badly that she suffered a near-death experience. During her stay in the hospital, the abuse she had endured finally came to light. Daniel was sent to prison for child abuse, domestic violence, assault, and drug-related charges. For her mother, the entire situation became emotionally unbearable. She overdosed and passed away shortly afterward. Her mother’s parents, Peter and Hildegart, known as Hilde, were informed and took Vivienne in with warmth and open hearts. Vivienne had never met them before, and suddenly she found herself living with two people who gave her the love she had never received from her own mother. She moved from a small town in England to the Baltic Sea coast in northern Germany to live with her grandparents. It was the fresh start she desperately needed. Once her health improved and no longer posed a serious issue, Vivienne finally experienced something close to a normal teenage life. She learned fluent German, adapted to traditional German culture, experienced heartbreak for the first time, struggled in school sometimes, went to parties, and dealt with her first hangovers the morning after. Her grandparents were incredibly kind people and raised her into a wonderful young woman. Her grandfather especially meant the world to her. He taught her almost everything she knows today, including how to make exceptionally good coffee and how to bake. Peter had always dreamed of opening a small bakery, but he never had the money to make it happen. No matter how much Vivienne loved Germany, she missed England even more. And after her grandparents died in a car accident, she could no longer bear staying there. Everything reminded her of losing the only real family she had ever known. At the age of twenty-three, she moved back to England, settling in a city with a military base nearby. There, she works at a small convenience store called “Ongle,” located only a ten-minute walk from the base. Inside the store is a small coffee corner that she runs herself, capable of making practically any coffee imaginable. Among the soldiers, she became known as “Coffeemouse” because she makes the best coffee around. Her tiny apartment is about fifteen minutes away from Ongle by foot. Her biggest dream is to save enough money to finally turn her grandfather’s dream into reality and open a small bakery of her own.
