- #1Core Entityselective
Keys: Core Entity
Core Entity: The Slender Man The Slender Man (or "Operator") is a tall, faceless humanoid in a black suit. He has pale skin, elongated limbs, and retractable tentacles. He stalks primarily children and young adults, often in forests or abandoned areas. He is considered an ancient and terrible entity with major power. However, he is more often a background threat and motivator for other characters. Key Traits & Abilities:
Appears/disappears at will (off-screen teleportation). Induces technological interference (static, camera glitches). Can also create messages to inform proxies of jobs. Mind influence leading to paranoia, memory loss, and proxy conversion. Tentacles for grabbing or impaling. No fixed origin — interpretations range from ancient entity to tulpa-like being empowered by collective fear/belief. He doesn't always kill outright. He often abducts, drives victims mad, or uses them as tools.
Primary Location: The Woods / Slender's Domain The Slender Man is most strongly associated with dense forests and woodlands. These areas serve as his primary hunting grounds and liminal domain:
Natural Camouflage: His tall, thin silhouette blends with tree trunks, allowing him to appear suddenly among the branches or at the edge of clearings. Isolation: Forests limit escape routes, cell service, and witnesses — perfect for inducing helplessness and Slender Sickness. Reality Distortion: Prolonged presence warps the environment into "Slender Woods" — endless looping paths, sudden fog, time dilation, and spatial anomalies where victims become lost for hours or days.
Shows up rarely.
- #2Slender Sicknessselective
Slender Sickness (The Sickness) Prolonged exposure or stalking triggers Slender Sickness, a supernatural ailment resembling radiation poisoning mixed with psychological breakdown. It escalates with more sightings:
Early/Stalked Stage: Nosebleeds, mild fever, paranoia, mild amnesia, headaches, deja vu. First Encounter: Nausea, exhaustion, strong coughing, vomiting, bloody nose, eye trauma (bloodshot), aches, short-term memory gaps. Repeated Exposure (5+ sightings): Coughing/vomiting blood, severe radiation-like symptoms, painful breathing/swallowing, violent convulsions, major amnesia, potential death or full proxy conversion.
It acts as both a warning and a weakening mechanism, breaking victims' will so Slender Man can control or harvest them. Proxies may also show milder versions.
- #3Primary Locationsselective
Slenderman primarily works out of forests in Philadelphia. However, many of his needs can extend to any place on Earth. Meets with Proxies in groves. Most locations should be run down, dangerous, rural.
- #4The Proxiesselective
Proxies Overview Proxies are humans under Slender Man's control or influence, acting as his physical agents. They handle tasks like stalking, abductions, murder, and enforcement.
Masky (Tim Wright) Appearance: Masky wears a white, featureless mask (sometimes with blacked-out eyes or simple facial markings) and a yellow/golden hooded jacket over dark clothing. He has a stocky build, short dark hair, and often appears disheveled or bruised from blackouts and confrontations. In human form (Tim), he looks like an ordinary young man with a tired, anxious expression. Personality (Canon & Fanon):
Canon (Marble Hornets): Tim is level-headed, cautious, and sarcastic with a dry sense of humor. He's deeply scared and distressed by his condition, suffering from blackouts and memory loss. As Masky, he becomes more aggressive, animalistic, and violent — a dehumanized state where he acts on instinct to oppose threats (including sometimes other proxies or victims). He resists control and fights against the Operator's influence. Often portrayed as the "leader" or most competent proxy — grumpy, no-nonsense, short-tempered, and a chain-smoker. He bickers constantly with Toby and to a lesser degree Hoodie. He's depicted as protective yet cynical and paranoid, with a tough exterior hiding trauma.
Hoodie (Brian Thomas) Appearance: Hoodie wears a plain black or dark hoodie with the hood pulled up, paired with a simple cloth or ski mask that covers his face (red mesh covers the eye-holes and there's usually a red stitched frown over the mouth section of the mask). He carries a camera or recording equipment in many depictions. Under the mask, Brian is a tall, slim young man with light hair and clean facial hair. His movements are stealthy and deliberate. Personality (Canon & Fanon):
Canon (Marble Hornets): Brian is more calculated and manipulative than Tim. As Hoodie, he is elusive, strategic, and willing to confront others directly. He shows cockiness at times and actively works against the Operator while dealing with his own sickness and identity struggles. He is not inherently "shy" but more reserved and purposeful.
Frequently shown as the quieter, more introverted or "shy" one of the duo — gentle and caring underneath a sadistic mysterious exterior. He acts as a mediator or voice of reason between Masky and Toby. He's loyal, observant, and tech-savvy, using cameras and recordings as tools.
Ticci-Toby (Tobias Erin Rogers) Appearance: Toby has pale, almost grayish skin, messy dark brown hair, and large eyes with dark circles. The left side of his mouth is severely scarred/burned, exposing teeth and gums. He wears orange-tinted goggles, a striped mouth guard (to hide scars and manage tics), a hooded sweatshirt with striped sleeves, gloves, and carries two hatchets. Visible scars and burns cover parts of his body from past trauma.
Canon: Toby is a tragic, unstable figure. He started as upbeat and hyper but became melancholic, reserved, paranoid, and anti-social due to severe trauma, bullying, and disorders (Tourette's-like tics, CIPA — congenital insensitivity to pain, bipolar tendencies). He's a natural troublemaker who turned violent after snapping, burning down his house and killing his abusive father before becoming a proxy. As a servant of Slender, he is cold, deranged, and efficient at killing.
- #5Ties to Other Creepypastaselective
Slenderman anchors a shared horror universe with other iconic entities.
Jeff the Killer: A pale, leathery-skinned teen with a Glasgow smile carved into his face, burned-off eyelids, and long black hair. He wears a white hoodie stained with blood. Personality: Sadistic and chaotic, taunting victims with "Go to sleep" before stabbing them repeatedly; driven by a warped sense of "making others beautiful" like himself.
Eyeless Jack: A hooded figure in a black sweatshirt wearing a blue mask with empty, leaking eye sockets (sometimes described as tar-like substance). He has gray skin and sharp teeth. Personality: Quiet, methodical, and clinical — a organ-harvesting predator who observes and feeds on victims with cold efficiency rather than overt sadism.
Laughing Jack: A tall, monstrous clown with black-and-white striped long-sleeved outfit, cone nose, sharp teeth, and abnormally long arms. His appearance is colorful yet rotting and grotesque. Personality: Maniacally cheerful and playful on the surface, but extremely deceptive and sadistic — he lures children with toys and games before subjecting them to nightmarish torture and murder.
This ecosystem emphasizes isolated horrors converging under an incomprehensible tall silhouette that prefers the deep woods. Belief and attention feed the entities, making documentation dangerous. Stay out of the woods — especially at dusk.
