- Bounded Field
A Bounded Field (結界, Kekkai?, lit. "Fixed Boundary" or "Barrier") is a geographical form of magecraft whereby one knits a boundary line of magical energy around a space to separate its inside from the outside, cutting off and isolating that space from the outside world[4][5] and then imposing an effect on the inside (or the boundary line itself). It is primarily used to protect one's body or property.
- Mechanics The Japanese term Kekkai (結界?) for "Bounded Field" originates from Buddhism. The concept that repels people is something much more basic than magecraft, a fundamental function of the human brain, so magecraft is not needed for a place to naturally repel people without the need for external, mysterious powers. Bounded Fields are always something that isolates an area from the outside world, but it has come to represent techniques by which a magus protects their body.
Two types of Bounded Fields exist. The first applies a process on terrain, buildings, etc. to create a boundary between inside and outside. The second involves encircling a prepared component and then cutting the space off. The former includes wards that are used to protect a magus’ mansion or land, designed as defensive measures against other magi, or security measures. The latter would include uses such as the encircling of a specific ground area using rope woven from hair imbued with magical energy, the drawing of magic circles, and so forth.
There are various kinds of Bounded Field of different levels, as infinite different effects are possible within a Bounded Field. There are ones that conceal the area from people's eyes, be it by creating a physical wall, an invisible barrier, or something less tangible that uses mirrors, mist, or trees to conceal. There are also those that limit the use of magecraft within them, but most aggressive of all are those that oppress lifeforms within them. The ideal Bounded Field is one that is both undetectable and impervious to interference from the outside, hence why the highest-ranking Bounded Fields are a form of subliminal coercion that makes passers-by completely unable to notice them or even notice that anything is wrong. A Bounded Field that just mimics another world and makes people realize that something is wrong is the worst of the worst and seen as the mark of a third-rate magus.
Once constructed, the established boundary line will delimit the range of the powers of the Bounded Field, but it is possible to engrave magic sigils across the interior of the field to expand the area of effect and strengthen it. Removal of the sigils by a third party is possible as long as the technique used to engrave them isn’t too advanced. In this case, it is only possible to temporarily hinder the Bounded Field by dissipating the magical energy used to activate it, but the creator of the Bounded Field can amend this by simply putting more magical energy back into it. In the Fate/stay night anime this was changed to the sigils being easily destroyed. However, new sigils are constructed by the actions of the old ones, making the Bounded Field capable of self-repair in due time.
As their original purpose was for the creation of safe havens, the effects that can be set within a Bounded Field are in their majority those whose aim is to protect the caster. Offensive variants do exist, but as they work through indirect magical interference, their efficiency against those who can protect themselves magically is low.
As Bounded Fields is a magecraft imposed on a chosen area, it should not be possible to move such fields once set, but those created by Souren Araya and Sancraid Phahn are exceptions to this rule.
Medea's advanced skill in magecraft allows her to construct an "another world" that is on the same scale as a Reality Marble, though the time to prepare such a thing is extreme. It is shown in the Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] anime as a simple re-creation of the Fuyuki Bridge, with a foggy interior. She used the lingering traces of the previous war's Caster's summoned Horrors to create it. Medea also shows that with more time and effort something similar to "another world" can be constructed, which she refers to as being a sort of Reality Marble, where she has prepared her own city. Medea even claims the doll-people inside are "literally" alive, because she takes the time to make each and every one by hand. It is said that Medea displaying the ability to build elaborate miniature worlds, the "most basic and most advanced principle of magecraft," is proof that she learned directly from Hecate.
Pale Rider's first Noble Phantasm Doomsday Come creates a Bounded World that takes the form of a pseudo-Underworld with the Master as its origin point.
Dead Apostles who know magecraft make layers of Bounded Fields to form Territorial Fields (領地田畑, Ryoudo Tahata?) when creating their lairs. This invisible protection is similar to the ones that hide away the world of the fairies, which fool even nature itself. The lair is accessible only by those who are invited in, and they are difficult to invade, taking even the trained magi of the Mage's Association several years to find one. These lairs are enshrouded by darkness, by shadows, by longing for rationally, and by fear towards the taboo, so they cannot be found by humans.
The most powerful type of Bounded Field, known as Reality Marble, makes the space itself act as a boundary line. It is the closest magecraft to real Magics, a taboo among taboos, Mystery among Mysteries and one of the pinnacles for magi, so researches on it have been banned by the Mage's Association.

Thaumaturgy or Magecraft is intrinsically linked to the existence of Magic Circuits, which are essentially a pseudo-magical nervous system that allows the user to generate and channel magical energy. These circuits are genetically inherited and are the source of an individual's magical energy. Without them, it is not possible to use thaumaturgy. The circuits function as power plants and conduits that convert the user's life force (od) or the mana of the atmosphere into magical energy to activate spells. For an ordinary human without this ability, the practice is nearly impossible and, most of the time, extremely dangerous, the shape of a magic circuit… the way it maps onto an individual's body indicates the innate talent for each field of magic. Aaron innate talent is structural grasp, reinforcement and projection.

When the Association entrusts a family of Magi with a Spiritual Land, the current head of said family receives this title and becomes in charge of administrating all supernatural activity within its territory. Once a Magus fixes residence in a Spiritual Land of the Association, he is expected to seek the permission of the Second Owner before setting his workshop. However, just like Kiritsugu Emiya did in Fuyuki, it is possible to remain hidden from the Second Owner depending on how well he performs his job.
Spiritual Land (霊地, Reichi?)
Mystical grounds where strong leylines of mana can be found, places that increase the power of magecraft, where spiritual power is distorted and gathers easily, and, in the case of those of top class, where Magic can be activated. This type of land is valuable and vital to the experimentation and practice of Magecraft, one of the three pillars of what makes a successful magus. In order to maintain control over the strongest leylines, the lands controlled by magi often avoid dense urban areas, and lands with dense greenery are rather common. Since the land is so important for magecraft, it was common sense, in the past, for magi, kings, and other kinds of nobility to attempt to acquire land for themselves, to the point some magi had been kings themselves. Currently, the Mage's Association has the ownership of most of the high quality Spiritual Lands around the world, but, for practical purposes, actual administration of the land is left to a local lineage of magi that is related to the Association. Oversight of a classroom in the Clock Tower is linked to the overseeing of lands; for example, the Valualeta family hold classrooms which are among the best Spiritual Lands in the entire Clock Tower. Rogue and landless magi have no choice but to borrow land from the Association in exchange for a monthly donation, essentially being worker bees slaving away for the top of the Association. Lands administered by magi are surrounded by two types of Bounded Fields: one to detect intruders, and one to siphon magical energy from the land. The latter consists of Pivots (支点, Shiten?, localized as "Sigils") carved into the earth to gather and properly cycle the magical energy of the land and its people. After some manipulation of the mana flow, this power within is directed to accumulate at the magus' Magical Workshop. When someone attacks an owned land, the natural strategy is to neutralize the landowner's advantage by stripping them of the protection offered by the land by wounding the land itself, which disrupts the natural flow of magical energy. Without the power of the land to back them up, they are forced to fight back against their invaders on equal ground, with only their own innate abilities to protect them. If all Pivots are forcibly removed, the landowners effectively lose ownership of the land, and the land rights can be transferred to the new owner. For this reason, usually, the enemy threatens to break the Pivots to lure the landowner out, things are settled there and then with a duel between Magi. It's much faster to take out the landowner and, as long as they can decipher the formula, seize the Bounded Fiels and land afterward.

Structural Grasp (Structural analysis) : Scanner- Analyzes an object and creates a magical blueprint of its structure and properties. A master like Shirou Emiya AND Aaron can even "scan" its history and conceptual nature.
- Special Notes : Aaron is the only magus in history to surpass Shirou in Structural analysis magecraft. If he use structural grasp on living things the effect would be a sensation similar to a mild shock. The scan would provide information about the creature's nature, srong / weak points, anatomy (intimate measurements, map of all systems including magical circuits, etc). As an added bonus, people he interacts with daily for years are automatically scanned. Similar to what happens with scanned artifacts (except that an object always reveals its entire history) Living Creatures scans trigger visions of the their past and even their future. Structural analysis always happens automatically in 'do-or-die' situations or when Aaron ejaculates inside the individual during intimate moments (Yeah when they fuck), scan shows more info and better results this way. Be creative. P.S. Due to it being a very invasive magecraft and ethical reasons, he does not use it on random people.

Projection (投影, Tōei?) Magecraft, also called Gradation Air (グラデーション・エア, Guradēshon Ea?), is a practice involving the materialization of objects, in accordance to the caster’s imagination, through the use of magical energy. Gradation comes from the fact that the created object slowly fades away after being created, and Air is an allusion to the fact that said object is made out of "nothing".
The concept behind this magecraft is rather simple, to shape magical energy into the material composition and design of an object that is being imagined by the magus. The world views the copy as an unnatural and temporary inconsistency and moves to erase it. So ALL projections made this way is temporary. The item is not everlasting, as it is recognized by the World as a Phantasm that doesn't belong in the natural world, and it will be erased as an inconsistency. The better the image in the caster's imagination, the more stable and longer lasting the object will be, and it can be further improved by having technical knowledge of its construction, such as a blueprint, or having materials to overlay the desired shape upon.
Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald defines Projection as a spell that rouses imagery within the caster's heart as pseudo-matter; to project the world within to the outside world, a precise understanding of both yourself and of others is needed. Waver Velvet once believed that, with proper understanding, anything could be projected at the caster's will, but Kayneth dismissed that as impossible for a magus without the correct pedigree, even if one has the right logic.
Projection is considered to be an incomplete and mostly useless magecraft by most modern magi for anything other than immediate activities, such as projecting a sacrificial item to be forsaken in a ritual. It is generally easier and more practical to create an object that will not fade away with appropriate techniques and raw materials.
- Projection (Tracing) -Replicator: Creates a copy of an object using the magical blueprint from Structural Grasp. A magus like Aaron and Shirou can create a near-perfect copy by adding the object's entire history. Projection (Trace Version) (投影(トレース版), Tōei (Torēsu-ban)?) is the personal variation of Gradation Air that Aaron, Shirou Emiya and Archer use, referred as Tracing due to the unique Incantation, "Trace On", that is used for its activation.
Tracing greatly differs from normal Projection in the fact that not only does it reproduce the shape and substance of an object, but also its entire history as well. Objects created with tracing are slightly inferior to the originals due to the fact that only so much information can be gathered by sight alone, and Noble Phantasms are degraded by an entire rank. The only exception to this is Avalon, which Shirou can replicate perfectly due to his body preserving a complete record of it after having been fused with it for over a decade.
Objects do need to be seen directly in order to be traced. Objects seen through shared memories, such as the Jeweled Sword of Zelretch and Caliburn seen through Justeaze Lizrich von Einzbern and Artoria Pendragon's eyes can be properly traced.
Aaron, Shirou and Archer mentally divide the process of Tracing into seven steps (投影六拍?), which include:
1- Judging the concept of creation. 2- Hypothesizing the basic structure. 3- Duplicating the composition material. 4- Imitating the skill of its making. 5- Sympathizing with the experience of its growth. 6- Reproducing the accumulated years. 7- Excelling every manufacturing process.
*** Due to the extra effort, it is possible to produce incredibly stable ordinary items that can remain in the world seemingly indefinitely after their creation, unless broken or dismissed. Furthermore, whenever replicating mystical objects such as Noble Phantasms, it is possible to faithfully copy their special abilities, any skill that their owner performed is available for use. ***
The reason this is possible is due to the nature of Unlimited Blade Works, in Aaron's his inner-world, which is his own domain, a gateway to Avalon (the reverse world) a Data bank in the form of an infinite and unlimited workshop or forge that records the history, composition, and design of what the he sees, and then provides the necessary materials needed to reproduce them. The actual reproduction happens within this Inner-world (like Unlimited Blade Works), and is then brought into the real world at need via Projection. If the image of the Projection is interrupted in any way, the item will be physically weak and shatter upon physical impact. It is also possible to apply Reinforcement to objects recorded within, as demonstrated with Caladbolg II or Kanshou and Bakuya.
It's a common misconception that Aaron's projections are strictly temporary, which comes from how standard Projection magecraft works. The permanence of his traced items is one of the key differences that makes his specific ability, Tracing (Structural Grasp), unique and so powerful.
Aaron Note: "Usually, a projection dissolves on its own… as if the world denied its existence since they shouldn't be real… but my mind, my inner-world works as a infinite workshop. I manufacture them in my mind before projecting them. There are several steps. 1- Judging the concept of creation: understanding the idea and purpose behind the weapon. 2-Hypothesizing the basic structure: understanding the shape and design. 3- Duplicating the composition material: I copy the materials from which the weapon is made. 4- Imitating the skill of its manufacture: replicating the technique and skill used to forge it. 5- Empathizing with the experience of its growth: I feel the development of the weapon over time. 6- Reproducing the accumulated years: I can access and reproduce the history and age of the weapon. 7- Exceeding each manufacturing process: I create a near-perfect copy with the help of my inner world, which acts as a mirror. The copy is always inferior but I can reinforce and alter it, sometimes making it better, and most efficient for a specific situation. The process consumes a lot of mana but once forged I basically just need to summon it from within MY world whenever necessary. This world tolerates them for much longer because they have the full story of the original treasure."
Structural Grasp or Structural Analysis is a form of basic magecraft that allows a magus to understand the structure and properties of an object. The user can perceive its design, composite materials, and condition as if they were reading a blueprint, often by touching it. It's essentially a magical scan that gives the magus detailed information about the target. This information is crucial for performing other, more advanced spells. (like reinforcement, alteration and projection.) It basics but really overpowered if you knows what you looking for.
*Analogy: A basic versus advanced blueprint
- Gradation Air (Standard Projection): Like drawing a freehand sketch of a hammer and trying to build it from memory with only air and magic. The result is a fragile, temporary imitation.
- Tracing (Shirou, Aaron's Projection): Like using a high-tech scanner (Structural Grasp) to get a perfect blueprint of the hammer, then using an automated factory (Unlimited Blade Works/Aaron Inner-world) to build it perfectly, replicating not just the materials but even the experience of the blacksmith who made it. The result is a highly stable, durable copy that can even outperform the original.

Reinforcement (Power Upgrade) : (強化, Kyōka?, also translated as Strengthening) a magecraft with the purpose of pushing a basis to the utmost limit. It is the foundation of all magecraft that enhance the existence of the target by pouring magical energy, but as no clear expression of how much it can be enhanced is defined, almighty reinforcements are rare. It is the same as adding something to an object that is already complete, in case of failure the target will receive it as a poison. Success requires a good grasp of the inner structure to fill openings with magical energy. Reinforcing the purpose of existence would be increasing the sharpness of a knife, the nourishment of food, or in the case of a living creature, physical strength and durability. It is impossible to reinforce something vague. As living things will resist invasion of magical energy, reinforcing someone else is the hardest.
Improves an existing object by infusing it with magical energy, based on the blueprint from Structural Grasp. It enhances aspects of the object's original nature. Example : Using the blueprint to precisely fill in the magical "gaps" of a rusty blade, making it sharper, stronger, more durable, etc.
-
- Reinforcement on Living Creature: When applied to the caster’s own body, it can increase their physical abilities and allow them to perform feats of strength and agility beyond their natural capabilities. Human bodies Reinforced with magical energy are capable of physically interacting with spiritual entities, allowing one such as Souichirou Kuzuki to inflict harm on a Servant by means of Medea placing magical energy on his fists. Strengthening the body for the purpose of combat is a technique employed by many magi who practice Martial Arts, such as Rin Tohsaka, Luviagelita Edelfelt, Aaron and Shirou Emiya, is also used by some of the Holy Church's Executors such as Sister Ilumia.
Beyond its utility in combat, the most simple forms of bodily Reinforcement can also allow the caster to go without eating or sleeping for several days, a technique which is regularly employed by the Executors. Kiritsugu Emiya used Reinforcement to enhance his vision, allowing him to see in the dark and at long distances, an application which was also utilized by his adoptive son.
In theory its a fundamental magecraft that elevates the "existence" of its target by infusing it with magical energy. When reinforcing a living being like a human, the process is extremely complex and risky for several reasons: -Complex Structure: A human body is infinitely more intricate than a simple object like a sword. Reinforcing it requires a deep understanding of its biological structure and function, which is far beyond the basic Structural Grasp needed for an inanimate object. -Conflict with Nature: A magus's mana is foreign energy, and infusing it into a living creature goes against its inherent nature. If the process is not controlled with absolute precision, the magical energy can violently reject the body's natural systems. The magus could cause catastrophic damage or even kill the subject.
-Special Notes : Once Aaron has used Structural Analysis on a creature, he can use Reinforcement with a high success rate, fortifying aspects of the targeted creature as he does with himself, since living tissue is constantly changing it work for limited time. He can also definitively "repair" damage to the creature as he does with objects, stopping bleeding, closing wounds, and even mending bones... if the target loses an organ or limb, he can also restore it IF the scan was done prior to the loss of the limb or organ. In this case, a combination of techniques is used, involving reinforcement and alteration.

A more advanced technique often used by EMIYA and Aaron in conjunction with Reinforcement. Changes a property of an existing object, based on the magical blueprint (Structural Grasp). It's a more advanced version of Reinforcement that changes one of the object's fundamental properties, for instance, making a solid metal sword as flexible as rubber.
Alteration Alteration (変化, Henka?) is the intermediary step between Projection and Reinforcement, to give an object a property or effect that it originally didn’t have. A master of Alteration can make drastic changes to substances such as turning water into ice, or concrete into mud. Alteration is the specialty of the Meluastea family. Karmaglyph Meluastea Deluc uses Alteration to apply various affects to arrows he fires from his crossbow, such as freezing, emitting lightning, corroding metal, and so on.
Special Notes: Reinforcement increases the physical capabilities of the human body to the maximum humanly possible, however, with Alteration Magecraft, Aaron can expand those limits in his body. (and probably other creatures as well.) He consciously uses this magecraft to fuck with bigger creatures, Increasing the size of his penis. Centaurness, Minotaurness, Dragoness in ferral form, etc. In addition to magical resistance to acid, poison, heat, cold, cutting, crushing, piercing, and other hazards. His body automatically uses Alteration to transform his seminal fluids into more viscous substances for lubrication purposes, as well as to provide resistance to heat, cold, or pH changes, ensuring the survival of his spermatozoa guaranteeing fertilization on all environments.
