1. #1Essence

   Always on · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Essence is the life force that circulates in the human body. The surplus of essence in Aberrants is what allows them to activate and use their gifts. Essence comes in eight colors, with each color corresponding to a different type of ability.

Contrary to popular belief, essence does not constantly circulate through out the body; it's a reserve of energy that must be tapped into and pulled into parts of the body that the user wishes to strengthen. By training diligently the user will be able to access and use more essence.

All living things possess essence, which helps fuel their basic functions. Essence reserves for ordinary lifeforms are small compared to aberrants and cannot be used for anything besides fueling basic functions. This distinguishes aberrants from all other organisms on Earth, as they can choose to manipulate their essence.

Essence colors are hereditary. For example, Sayeon and Samin Lee both inherited teal essence from their mother. It is unusual for two aberrants to posess the same essence because of the large variety of them, but it isn't impossible.[2] It is suggested that the amount of essence that an aberrant possesses is inherited through ones bloodline, which has caused exceptionally powerful Aberrant families to arise.

There are eight different colors of essence, each with their own unique properties. These colors are orange, red, purple, blue, yellow, green, teal and white.

Orange essence affects objects but is intangible.

Iseul Kim's gift makes objects float. Dahee Eun's gift allows its user to create wings from essence. Taeho Gyeon's gift creates explosions when his bomb comes into contact with objects. Black's gift creates fire out of essence to burn objects.

Red essence enhances the user's body but is intangible.

Ryujin Kang is the only Aberrant so far shown to have red essence. Ryujin's essence seemed to enhance her strength and speed to such a degree that a single punch from her knocked out Sayeon Lee for twenty minutes. Ryujin's gift is blood manipulation.

Purple essence is intangible and distorts perception.

Pink's gift changes her appearance. Tsubaki Sumishiro's gift creates multiple illusion clones of objects. Penrose's gift distorts reality.

Blue essence is tangible and creates objects.

Juni Chang's gift creates ribbons from surfaces. Jungwoo Do's gift creates a spear out of essence. Minnie's gift generates a shield out of essence. Jungwoo's gift can create a floating platform.

Yellow essence is intangible and affects others' essence.

Officer Ahn can use her gift to control the essence of others, such as forcibly activating it. Taehee Tak's gift gives teammates a huge amount of essence. Healers have yellow essence and can heal by transferring parts of their essence to others.

Teal essence is “impractical” according to Instructor Sang and does “impossible” things. It is intangible.

Sayeon Lee's gift allows her to go back in time for a short period of time. An unnamed coworker of Instructor Sang had the ability to talk to birds. A member of the Sea Wolves named Vigenere has the ability to maintain a "circle of secrecy, which apparently limits phone connectivity.

There is almost no information about white essence because it is only used by Godlings and is the strongest essence color.

2. #2Abberants

   Entry settings

Aberrants are very rare individuals that possess superhuman abilities because they are able to manipulate their essence. Compared to normal humans, essence overflows in these individuals. Some aberrants use their powers to harm others, hence why they are considered dangerous by the general public.

Aberrants did not always stand on top of the natural world instead it was their forebearers the Godlings.

There are two ways to become an Aberrant. The first is by having Godling ancestry in your lineage, even if it is from a distant relative. The second is by being blessed by the Godlings' power and be chosen as their champion.

The majority of present day Aberrants are unaware of their origin.

Aberrants face constant discrimination by regular humans for fear of their unique abilities.

Aberrancy usually manifests around the ages of 10 through 18 years old. Annual aberrancy tests are held at schools every year for students in this age range in order to detect aberrants. These tests are conducted by officers of the Aberrant Corps. Presumably, only officers with yellow essence conduct these tests because they are able to interact with the essence of others. The test is done in two parts. In the first part, the officer asks questions about the student's family history in order to see if there are any aberrants in the family. The officer does this since aberrancy is hereditary. If there is aberrant blood in the family, there is a high chance of the student being an aberrant. During the second part of the exam, the officer holds the student's hand for a few seconds and if a spark is produced the student has tested positive for aberrancy. However, in the case of Sayeon Lee, since she was overflowing with so much essence, Officer Ahn only needed to graze her essence to produce a spark instead of holding her hand.

Students who test negative are issued a Peace Card, which is required for work, buying goods, traveling and many other things. Students below the age of 18 receive temporary Peace Cards until they test negative on their final aberrancy test. Those who test negative on their last aberrancy test are granted permanent Peace Cards.

Those students who test positive for aberrancy do not receive a Peace Card instead they are forced to wear an essence cuff and are required to join the Aberrant Corps once they turn eighteen. The Aberrant Corps was created by the government to keep aberrants powers in check, and acts similarly to a police force. Once in the corps, aberrants become law-enforcement officers. Some aberrants refuse to join the corps and successfully avoid recruitment, becoming criminals or rogue aberrants.

Originally, it was believed that the only way to become an Aberrant was to have Aberrant blood in the family, however it was revealed in season two there is another way. It was revealed that an ordinary person can become an Aberrant by becoming a Godling's champion.

An Aberrant have amazing ranging from strength, agility and potential to recover from mortal injury.

It is said that they are twenty times stronger than normal humans and can kill with a flick of wrist because of their gifts.

Aberrants are granted enhanced physical abilities as well as unique powers named "gifts", which depend on the colour of their essence.

Essence Detection: All aberrants can sense aura. Certain aberrants are naturally gifted at sensing essence more and they are called Detectors.

3. #3Rapture

   Always on · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Rapture is an illegal drug that's derived from essence, human life force. As stated by Sayeon, the drug can not be produced without the suffering of others. Some of the drawbacks of using rapture are that it's highly addictive, regular humans are not able to handle the additional surge of essence, and if regular humans take too much of it, their bodies will start breaking down. Rapture is distributed onto the streets by Aberrant gangs, such as the Begonia Group and sold on street corners or alleyways.

Rapture is stored in a small gray vial. Administrating it is very similar to using eye drops. First, the person removes the cap from the vial and then holds the vial above eye level. The person then squeezes a drop of liquid(essence) into the eyes. The effects are instantaneous as the regular human gains aberrant powers to move fast and have increased strength temporarily.

Rapture is created by repeatedly draining an individual's essence. When done on normal children most do not survive, however if this is performed on aberrant children they are more likely to survive because they are stronger than normal humans. The effects of Aberrant children being repeatedly drained of essence results in a total loss of hair (possibly eyes as well) pigmentation that never goes back to normal. Two known individuals that have suffered a loss in pigmentation are Hayoon Ahn and Min Woo.

A Nest is a shoddy building that harbors a network of illegal aberrants. Since illegal aberrants don't have identification, they can't live on their own--you need an ID to even buy groceries--so they must join groups to survive.

Nest 5-C was the nest Ryujin was in. Nests often become an illegal aberrants' family. The nest was run by Ms. Heo.

   Aberrant Corps

The Aberrant Corps is a government funded crime fighting force made up of Aberrants.

Every year, the Aberrant Corps conscripts all 18-year-olds who have been diagnosed with aberrancy into their ranks. It is implied that there are at least three Aberrant Corps headquarters across the country. The events of Hand Jumper so far center around the members of the Third HQ.

From what's been revealed there are two ways in which to be recruited into the Aberrant Corps. The first, is testing positive for aberrancy on National Aberrant Testing Day. The second, is by being recruited from prison like in the case of Ryujin Kang. Aberrants that are deemed too weak to enter service are executed by their tester/recruiter on the spot and the death is covered up. Aberrants that are deemed strong enough for the Corps to use are conscripted into service once they turn eighteen. Once the potential recruit(s) turn eighteen they are taken to one of the three Corps Headquarters by an officer. When the new recruits get to their HQ they are searched for contraband, their phones and money are confiscated. After the search all the new recruits gather in the gym for orientation and to meet their instructor. Once the orientation is done recruits are broken into groups of four and assigned a cell. Each cell has a cell mentor.

During the recruits trainee years they are taught essence control, how to use their gifts, fighting techniques and how to conduct patrols by their cell mentor. Due to the nature of the Corps work the trainee years have a high fatality rate of 80% and only 20% become officers.

All members of the Corps are required to wear the uniform that compose of a black suit, with a white shirt underneath, a blue or red tie depending on rank with the rank on it and black dress shoes. However, once some trainees become officers they choose to modify their uniform.

The Aberrant Corps are made up of ten levels. Corps members from levels 1-5 are classified as Trainees and have blue ties. Members from levels 6-10 are Officers, and have red ties. Members advance in rank by gaining points through achievements in the field or in the case of trainees through friendly mock battles between cells hosted by the instructor.

A notable exception to the color of the ties is Officer Ahn and other yellow gift users. Those who have yellow ties are place in combat support roles, such as healer, negotiator or hostage negotiator. Since yellow gifts rarely do well in direct combat its users work the more boring jobs in the Corps. On their own, yellow ties are no threat.

Once trainees are promoted to Officers they are given Red Peace Cards that stores their money.

Level Ten Officers are the highest rank officers in the Corps. There are only three Level Ten Officers at one time. Each Level Ten is in charge of one of the three Aberrant Corps Headquarters. So far only Captain Sungwoo Han have been revealed.

Aberrant Corps Third Headquarters or 3rd HQ is one of three buildings across Korea that is home to members of the Corps. Captain Sungwoo Han is in charge of this HQ.

Aberrant Clans are formed when the Aberrant Corps members that survive into adulthood have children with one another. Over time, this can produce an exceptional line of aberrants that serves the Corps for generations. It is stated that the family name can eventually become legendary.

Only known clan is the Gyeon Clan.

   Godlings

Godlings are powerful beings that once existed in the world of Hand Jumper and the predecessors of Aberrants. While some ruled over humans like kings. Most were reclusive beings that were eventually killed off by human progress. Their partially human offspring inherited some Godling powers, thus leading to the powers branching out into Aberrancy.

Long ago, the Godlings stood atop the natural world. Some ruled over humans as God Emperors while others preferred to be worshipped in seclusion, not wanting to live among humans. They didn't bother to rule humans with an iron fist given how short and fleeting human life is to them.

However, as the human population increased, the Godlings' population remained at a standstill.Refusing to see humanity as a threat, and being unable to keep up with humanity's rapid progress, they were eventually led to their downfall.

With each passing generations humans amassed knowledge, lived better and stronger lives and grew exponentially Meanwhile the Godlings grew complacent and didn't futher to better themselves.

They aren't collaborative and are pride solidarity being. They rarely have families or Godling kids.

   Creating Aberrants

Godlings commonly sired half-Godling children rather than pure-blooded Godlings, as pure-blooded Godlings would grow to be a threat

Because half-Godlings were tainted with human blood they were not as powerful as pure-blooded Godlings nor godlike in appearance. They were rejected by Godlings as one of their own, leading the half-Godlings to integrate into human society.

The half-breeds would produce offspring, and oftentimes their human children would inherit portions of Godling power. Eventually this would go on for generations until the Aberrants outnumbered the Godlings and started the uprising against the Godlings, taking their place at the top of the world.

   Modern Era

In the current era, some Godlings have chosen to shed their physical forms and now live in the ether as omnipresent beings. Since many Godlings have chosen to live in the ether. not many people have seen or interacted with them, thus most people consider these beings myth. As to what Godlings do is a mystery however, some of them such as Augur and the one that appeared in Sayeon's dreams choose to interact with humans and aberrants. In some cases, such as Augur's, he allows the old lady to use his powers to foresee the future.

   Appearance

They were distinctly inhuman compared to Aberrants. The appearance of the Godlings varied drastically. Some were said to be hideous and monstrous, while others possessed a beauty “so terrifying that it drove men to tears”. They were also noted to possess white, ringed eyes, akin to their essence.

   Abilities

Godlings' powers were much stronger than an Aberrant's; cursing a land barren for hundreds of years, turning a human into ash with a single touch, communing with the forest, parting the sea, and possessing immortality. The Godlings' essence was also said to be colored white.

   Relic

Items carved from godling bones in the form of flashy jewellery, books, or trinkets that hold part of a godling's power. The power of relics is linked to their size and usage condition based on their essence colour. Relics are gifted to the godling's favourite aberrants, providing them with new gifts.

   Creating Champions

Besides being born an aberrant, the other way one can become an aberrant is by being chosen as a godling's champion. This is an extremely rare event. By accepting a sacred covenant offered by a godling, a human can become a champion and gain part of a godling's power in exchange of part of their humanity or by paying different price.

   A Mark of Belief

A universal symbol of connection between a person and a godling. By carving a symbol of godling into a person's skin, anyone can grow and fortify their godling communion. Followers of Cult of Naj belive it's symbol of becoming a vessel of Lord Naj and chance to become his champion.

   History

Sara Lee, along with being an aberrant criminal and Vice president of the Sea Wolves, is also the champion of Lilith the Godling. This is because she was not an aberrant and used to be a normal human.

Sara Lee was the Vice President of the Sea Wolves and was notorious throughout the underworld. She was an illegal aberrant and a career criminal, her fame eventually led the Corps to hunt her down.

At some point Sara married Doyeon Lee, an aberrant with glasses and orange essence. They had two children, Samin and Sayeon. Sara died when Sayeon was still young, so Samin had to take care of her.

8. #8ryujin

   Always on · Selective · Before character · Order 10 · 100%

   Ryujin Kang

Ryujin Kang is a Level 1 Trainee within the Aberrant Corps. Before she was forced to join the Corps, Ryujin was imprisoned for killing an Corps Officer. She is currently a member of Cell 4 alongside Iseul Kim, Min Woo and Sayeon Lee.

Ryujin Kang is a short (156 cm / 5'1") teenage girl with chin-length wavy purple hair and grey eyes with prominent lower eyelashes. Before joining the Corps, she is shown to be wearing a red and black half zip sweater. Ryujin often wears a white baseball cap, she has a scar on her right hand and a big scar on her right shoulder.

   Personality

Ryujin comes off as quite callous, arrogant and blunt. She's quick to be rude and shows an attitude, muttering sarcastic comments regularly and also having a short temper. Ryujin is incredibly stubborn and makes a point of refusing to use her Gift while enlisted in the Corps. Being a thug, she's often rebellious and dislikes authority, and is prone to violence.

Despite her careless attitude, Ryujin has sharp instincts and is wary of danger. Her personal philosophy of minding her own business, which she adopted from the Concordant, often clashes with her protective nature. Surprisingly soft-hearted, Ryujin will fight for those she cares about and is fiercely loyal, though she prefers to demonstrate this in action rather than words.

   History

Ryujin spent her childhood and early adolescence growing up in Nest 5-C, viewing the members as her family. She had an intimate relationship with Jiwon, a slightly older girl who looked after Ryujin and patched her cap with its signature “X” embroidery. There, Ryujin spent her days playing pranks on her family and learning to play the piano. When Nest 5-C was attacked by the Corps, Jiwon and Ryujin escaped, but Ryujin returned to look for survivors. Upon finding everyone dead, Ryujin fought and successfully killed the Level 9 officer responsible for their deaths, though Jiwon was killed in the process.

Ryujin was sent to prison for a year, forced to wear an essence cuff set at maximum strength. At the age of 18, the corps gave her the choice between joining the Corps as a trainee or being executed. Ryujin initially chose execution, but Officer Ahn convinced her otherwise, arguing that she might have have a chance to avenge her family if she joins the Corps.

   Abilities

Ryujin has red essence, which is known to enhance its user's body. Her gift is blood manipulation.

Ryujin’s gift gives her the freedom to control and solidify her own blood, both inside and outside of her body. Ryujin was shown to be highly proficient at using her gift, as she’s capable of utilizing it for both offensive (trapping/detaining opponents, firing at opponents from a long range) and defensive purposes (hardening her own body). Her gift is deemed as very versatile by Father Hope.

Essence Detection: Ryujin is naturally gifted at sensing essence, even more so than other Aberrants.

Essence Control: Although still suffering the negative effects from wearing a maximized essence cuff for a year, it is implied that Ryujin’s enhanced physical abilities are remarkably impressive. Ryujin was able to throw a metal stick strong enough to pierce a concrete wall, leaving Butcher in awe. Iseul also described how Ryujin was able to move in a blink of an eye, delivering a single blow that immediately knocked Sayeon out in their practice fight.

Hand to Hand Combat: Despite avoiding activating her essence for personal reasons, Ryujin actually has plenty of combat experience. She also has shown to have great intuition and calculation in hostile situations, as Ryujin can quickly evaluate the opponents’ ability and act accordingly.

   Relationships

Although not much is known about Ryujin’ biological family, it is mentioned that she grew up in a Nest. We also know that the nest was later raided by a member of the Gyeon Clan, who was most likely murdered by Ryujin as mentioned by Officer Ahn.

   Jiwon

An Aberrant young woman from Nest 5-C. Ryujin had an extremely intimate relationship with Jiwon. Jiwon looked out for Ryujin, and is responsible for patching Ryujin's cap with its iconic “X” stitch. Ryujin's affection for Jiwon is evident since her cap is her most prized possession. During the Corps' raid on the Nest 5-C, Jiwon was murdered while Ryujin managed to kill the officer. Ryujin’s love for Jiwon and the other members of her Nest is so great that she swallowed her pride and joined the Corps in order to avenge their deaths.

   Ilwoo

An Aberrant young man from Nest 5-C. Ryujin saw him as her older brother, calling him “Ilwoo-oppa.” Though she often teased him or played pranks on him, she deeply respected him, as he taught her the philosophy she now holds dear of “debts owed, debts paid.” Ryujin mourned Ilwoo along with the other members of her family after he was killed by the Corps.

   Mrs. Heo

Head of Nest 5-C. A member of the Concordat, Mrs. Heo was in charge of overseeing Ryujin's nest. Although Ryujin's mischievous behavior kept Mrs. Heo on her toes, the two were fond of each other, and it is likely Mrs. Heo who taught Ryujin how to play the piano. Mrs. Heo also impressed upon a young Ryujin the importance of minding one's own business for the sake of survival.

   Yesol Na

Sea Wolf Captain. Ryujin and Yesol met briefly as children within Nest 5-C before Yesol was recruited by the Sea Wolves. Despite their short time together, Yesol was fond of Ryujin, as she was the youngest of Nest 5-C. Upon hearing of the Nest's deaths, Yesol was moved to tears by shock and grief. She specifically mourned Ryujin, having hoped to reunite with her one day.

   Aberrant Corps

Ryujin despises the Corps for murdering her family and vows to get revenge by killing every officer. After being freed from prison, the Corps continues to monitor Ryujin. Being grimly familiar with the Corps' cruelty, Ryujin protests the Corps by refusing to use her Gift and only accomplishing the bare minimum on missions and training exercises.

   Hayoon Ahn

Ryujin despises Officer Ahn. Ahn gave Ryujin an ultimatum to join the corps or be killed, and exploited Ryujin's love for her Nest members to agree.

   Juni Chan

Ryujin's mentor. Ryujin gets along well with Juni due to their similar personalities and poor work ethic. Juni was amused when Ryujin stole her lighter, and has been sharing her cigarettes with Ryujin ever since. Juni also tolerates Ryujin refusing to participate in practice sessions, though sometimes expresses light annoyance with Ryujin's inability to cooperate.

   Cell 4:

   Sayeon Lee

Ryujin's Cell Leader. Having experienced immense pain and loss at the hands of the Corps, Ryujin finds Sayeon's allegiance repulsive, yet continuously finds herself drawn to protecting her. Ryujin said that she has a soft spot for Sayeon because she reminds her of Jiwon. After Sayeon saved Ryujin's life in the warehouse, Ryujin found herself indebted to her, though their relationship remained tumultuous.

Their relationship worsened significantly when Sayeon, hoping to provoke Ryujin into activating her essence, stole Ryujin's beloved baseball cap and stomped on it. Sayeon intially planned to rewind time after evaluating Ryujin's response, but Ryujin punched Sayeon so swiftly and suddenly that Sayeon was knocked out, rendering her unable to rewind time. Sayeon eventually apologized much later, though she failed to properly reconcile with Ryujin due to insisting that the Corps' existence (and by extension, the deaths of Ryujin's family) are necessary.

Ryujin finds Sayeon hypocritical, self-righteous, and untrustworthy. She is one of the few characters who can see through Sayeon's lies, and directly confronts Sayeon about her contradictory beliefs. Sayeon, meanwhile, views Ryujin as stubborn and illogical. Nevertheless, it's clear that Ryujin worries about Sayeon's well-being, asking Sayeon what is going on when she notices Sayeon is off, and throwing herself into danger many times to protect Sayeon. Other characters, such as Iseul, have remarked on the complex nature of their relationship.

Ryujin and Sayeon are narrative foils and are often paired together in official and art.

   Min Woo

Ryujin's cellmate. Ever cheeky and abrasive, Ryujin makes jabs at Min's stoic behavior. Deep down, she harbors some disgust with his wordless obedience to Sayeon, calling him “Sayeon's attack dog.” Ryujin has also noticed the fondness Min and Iseul share for each other, snidely remarking “I dunno what Iseul sees in you.”

   Iseul Kim

Ryujin's cellmate. Ryujin's snarky personality and Iseul's friendly one are at odds, and she is immune to his cheerfulness. Both are naturally observant, with Iseul noticing the complex relationship Ryujin has with Sayeon, and Ryujin noticing the subtle affection between Iseul and Min.

   Quotes

Talking about Instructor Sang: “And who the hell does she think she is, ordering us around like that? I didn't sign up for this shit, none of us did.”

Talking to Iseul Kim: “There are only three level ten officers in the entire country. You don't have what it takes. Compared to us, they are absolute monsters.”

Sungwoo Han is shown to be kind, friendly and outgoing in the interaction with Sayeon and even lends her his phone to contact Jaeil, but he uses this as a facade and has a much darker personality and views everybody as pawns for his plans. He possesses a red tie with a metal pin pattern of 8 to fool others into believing he is a Level 8 Officer while being a Level 10 Officer. He also adresses people with a smile to lure them in dropping their guard and embrace a false sense of comfort.

   History

When he was a Level 8 Officer (or had his disguise tie on him), he killed Yesol Na's father right in front of her. He is also one of the three level 10 officers and has been eyeing the empty seat of the head of aberrant corps (aka the head of crows) since the death of Aera Son, the previous head, and has been making plans to make the Goverment promote him by not telling his fellow officers about a godling and filing a report a week before the meeting of the level 10 officers.

These shards fly at incredibly high speeds, as while Ryujin Kang, and Sayeon Lee were having a conversation, Yesol swiftly decapitated Iseul, before either party could realize what was going on.

She is also shown to be capable of transforming one of her shards into a hoverboard for faster transportation and mobility in combat.

Yesol is stated to have incredible amounts of essence. Thanks to this, Yesol fights with little to no caution, as she's constantly reinforcing her body with essence. This is shown in full effect, when in a last-ditch effort to kill her, Father Hope throws 3 different knives at her with enough force to pierce through her body. Despite this, Yesol is relatively unharmed, as she had been reinforcing herself with essence both during, and after their fight.

Yesol has also pulled off incredible feats of stamina thanks to her essence, going from fighting the duo of Father Hope and Heron, straight to fighting all of Cell 4.

    Relationships

When Yesol was young, her father was killed in front of her by Officer Han.

    Butcher

Yesol has a tense relationship with Butcher as they like to provoke each other.

    Concordat

The Concordat took Yesol in not too long after her father's death at the hands of Officer Han. Yesol spent an unspecified amount of time in the Concordat, before being offered to and agreeing to join the Sea Wolves when invited by their “recruiter.” Yesol holds a great deal of gratitude and loyalty to the Concordat, as she almost denied the recruiter's offer, had Ms. Heo not pushed her to join them to achieve her goals.

    Ryujin Kang

Yesol and Ryujin were members of Concordat together and shared same life moto: “Debts owed, debts paid.”

    Ilwoo

A close friend of Yesol's who lived with her and the others in the Concordat's nest.

    Chanseob

Chanseob is a small boy with very weak amounts of essence who Yesol trains and presumably takes care of.

    Sayeon Lee

Sayeon Lee is the daughter of Sara Lee and the younger sister of Samin Lee. Although her goal is to “make the world a better place”, her actions to achieve this are often manipulative or morally questionable. Sayeon is determined not to follow into the footsteps of her family, all of whom were infamous aberrant criminals. At the age of 18, she unwillingly joins the Aberrant Corps and becomes a member of Cell 4 alongside Iseul Kim, Ryujin Kang, and Min Woo.

Sayeon is a young woman of above average height (167 cm / 5'6") with a slim build and fair complexion. She has dark blue hair, eyes and wears red glasses. According to Sayeon, she takes after her father more than her mother, though there are individuals that say she resembles her mother. She considers her appearance as “not very memorable” and “plain”.

Before entering the Corps, she was usually seen in her school uniform and had long hair. After entering the Aberrant Corps, she now wears the Aberrant Corps uniform and has short hair after Min lopped off a side of her hair while trying to trigger her essence activation and Dahee having evened her hair out.

Before receiving her uniform, she wore a beige long-sleeved shirt with black pants.

    Personality

Having been the top student of her entire high school, Sayeon is shown to be disciplined and hard-working. Though she becomes easily flustered, she also has a calm, calculating side that emerges in dangerous situations. Due to her single-mindedness, she comes across as cold to others.

Sayeon has a tendency to be an unreliable narrator, and frequently justifies her contradictory actions by believing herself to be morally superior. However, this likely stems from the tremendous guilt she bears over the death of her childhood friend's father, Changseop Baek. As a result, she has developed a rigid stance against all forms of crime, especially illegal Aberrancy, believing that reforming society is her sole path to redemption. Her black-and-white moral system puts her at odds with sister Samin, and fellow Cell 4 member, Ryujin.

    History

Sayeon Lee was born into the Lee family of criminal aberrants. Her mother, Sara Lee, died when Sayeon was four years old, leaving her eleven-year-old sister, Samin Lee, to raise her.

Because Samin was not able to watch Sayeon all the time, Sayeon frequently stayed at the home of her friend, Jugyeong Baek. Jugyeong's father, noticing the absence of Sayeon's parents in her life, visited Sayeon's home to confront her current caretaker, who turned out to be Samin. Samin knew that Jugyeong's father was a police officer, so she killed him before he could file a report on them. This murder completely shattered ten-year-old Sayeon's trust in her older sister.

Vowing never to be like the rest of her family, Sayeon studied hard in high school and became the top student in her graduating class with the goal of becoming a criminal prosecutor. This dream was derailed when she was discovered to have Aberrancy in her senior year. Instead of joining Samin's gang of criminals, Sayeon lawfully enlisted in the Aberrant Corps.

    Abilities

Sayeon possesses teal essence and her gift allows her to rewind time. Initially, she was only able to rewind time for a maximum of 20 seconds, but later found that she was able to slightly extend her rewind a few seconds longer. Her gift is most useful in situations that have several different variables she can manipulate, such as people, objects and emotions; and less useful in fixed situations such as enclosed one-on-one combat. Sayeon also uses her gift to gather information on her opponents and come up with the optimal strategy to defeat them.

Despite how powerful her gift is, it possesses some limitations: she is unable to rewind time if she's knocked out or killed, and can only return to the moment in the past from which she snapped from.

Sayeon's gift is unknown to every character besides herself. She has told her teammates that her gift is a "Super Instinct" to explain the information she has gathered from previous rewinds, although Ryujin doubts she is telling the truth.

It is noted that if Sayeon pushes herself as much as possible, she can rewind time by 60 seconds.

    Relationships

    Sara Lee

Sayeon's mother. According to young Sayeon, her mother was tall, cool, and pretty, but had a scary side. Nevertheless, Sayeon greatly missed her mother after her death, believing she would return home until age ten. Sara Lee also smelled like a lemon cupcake, leading younger Sayeon to believe she worked in a bakery.

    Samin Lee

Sayeon's older sister. Growing up, Sayeon had complete and utter faith in Samin, who raised her from age four. However, because of the heavy differences in their morals and worldviews, they are not as close as they once were. It is later revealed that Samin does indeed care for Sayeon, as she sends Min Woo (also know as White) to keep an eye on her, later changing his orders to protect her. On the other hand, Sayeon views Samin as a monster, although Samin tells White that Sayeon's hatred for her “doesn't change a thing” and that she will love Sayeon no matter what.

    Jaeil Kim

Sayeon's closest and only friend that she allowed from school. Despite their polar opposite personalities, Sayeon and Jaeil got along very well. In flashbacks, Sayeon is often shown helping Jaeil with his school assignments, and he teaches her the basics of fighting in exchange. Jaeil holds a deep admiration for Sayeon's intelligence and perceives her as kind; in return Sayeon harbors gratitude and affection towards him. Sayeon cares deeply about his opinions of her as she was worried about his reaction to her being an Aberrant and coming from a family of criminals. While in Corps, she often thought about Jaeil and worried about his well-being.

In the Season one finale, Sayeon visits Jaeil's residence on her day off to catch up with him, but instead discovers that Officer Ahn lied about him being in the Corps to Jaeil's father, having killed Jaeil and covered up his death. This discovery pushes Sayeon to her breaking point, as she then cast aside her previous ambition of advancing through the Corps to killing Officer Ahn.

    Ryujin Kang

Sayeon's cellmate and “Trump Card.” Sayeon and Ryujin clashed immediately upon first meeting on the car ride to the Corps Headquarters due to the vast differences in their personalities, and later morals. Their relationship initially improved after their first mission together, where Ryujin followed Sayeon as she entered an abandoned warehouse and encountered hostile Aberrants, and Sayeon saved Ryujin's life. Still, their relationship continued to be strained, due to Sayeon's frustration with Ryujin's refusal to participate in the Corps' activities despite her obvious combat proficiency, as well as Ryujin's goal of killing the Corps officers, which conflict with Sayeon's moral of no killing. Despite their differences, they didn't oppose each other when it mattered, maintaining a sufficiently cooperative relationship.

    Quotes

“I love math. Math is just a system with a tidy set of rules.” - Sayeon.

“In this world, I only exist in a very small way.” - Sayeon to Ryujin.

“I'll become someone worthy of kindness.” - Sayeon to Jaeil, unspoken.

“No pulling punches. No holding back.” - Sayeon to herself.

    Jaeil Kim

Jaeil Kim was the former classmate and best friend of Sayeon Lee. Despite being a delinquent, he was Sayeon's closest and only friend before she joined the Aberrant Corps.

After testing for aberrancy day, Jaeil’s status/whereabouts has been unknown to both family and friends. Many believed that he was just skipping school, however this would be later proven false when Sayeon learns that he was executed by Officer Ahn.

Jaeil Kim was an average-height teenage boy with short, straight, light brown hair. His eyes were the same color as his hair. When in his school uniform, he always wore a blue jacket. He also wore round, black earrings and bandaid under right eye.

    Personality

Jaeil Kim was lazy and bad at studying but was also kind and humorous. Unlike Sayeon, Jaeil frequently broke school rules (smoking, drinking, and getting into fights), and did not see himself as a “good person”. He liked pink.

Iseul Kim is a Level 1 Trainee of the Aberrant Corps. He is member of Cell 4 and the son of a deceased Aberrant Corps officer. His cheerfulness and blind loyalty to the Aberrant Corps sets him apart from the rest of his cell.

Iseul Kim is 5’10. He is a teenage boy with light brown hair and eyes. Before joining the Aberrant corps, Iseul wore hoodies and casual clothing. Iseul dresses in the standard trainee apparel. He has a mole under his right eye.

    Personality

Iseul Kim is extraverted, empathetic, and an optimist. Unlike Sayeon, Iseul believes that his inherited aberrancy is a gift. Iseul is also ambitious, well versed in pop culture and a good actor. Iseul can also notice emotional differences and come to conclusions quickly.

    History

Iseul was in his sophomore year of high school when his essence was discovered during the annual test. Before the test, Iseul had practiced manifesting his essence for whole four months.

    Abilities

Iseul possesses orange essence which can affect objects. His gift allows him to levitate objects.

    Min Woo

White, otherwise known as Min Woo is a Level 1 Trainee of the Aberrant Corps. He is currently a member of Cell 4 alongside Sayeon Lee, Iseul Kim, and Ryujin Kang. He is notable for his skilled usage of essence and prowess in combat, which is contrasted by his introverted nature and lack of pride.

Min Woo is a tall, fit boy said to look much older than his age. He has pale white eyes, hair and skin with thicker eyelashes. He has a scarred face, specifically a distinct cross-shaped scar on the left side of his face across his cheek and eye, and another slash scar on his left cheek. His appearance is noted by Sayeon Lee to be intimidating and cold, going so far as to make Sayeon think that “he looks like he's done ten years at the federal penitentiary.”

    Personality

On the surface level, Min Woo seems like an emotionless machine. He's extremely non-expressive, having barely reacted to pain being inflicted onto him and being difficult to read. His face is almost unmoving and always appears distant or stern in any situation. In addition, Min is an extremely strong and experienced fighter.

Min is extremely 'programmed' and seems solely dedicated to following orders. Won't often speak unless needed to and he's very compliant to following orders given to him during battle. Min is described by Ryujin as an “Attack dog” for Sayeon.

However, his behaviour can be realised as somewhat “child-like” due to his professional yet extremely simple way of talking, and how quickly he can get over things. Min keeps to himself, is humble, and doesn't care to hold pride for himself.

Min respects those who do not fight fairly, as shown when Min agrees to teach Sayeon Lee even after she tricked him in order to win a game. Despite his intimidating appearance, Min has a penchant for baking, having made a loaf of bread for Iseul Kim, which he also shared with Sayeon.

    History

It is suggested that Min was used to farm Rapture as a child, which left him with his current appearance and lack of pigmentation. At one point, he encountered a dangerous Aberrant with orange essence and ponytail, who may have given him the scar under his eye.

At some point he joined The Crimson Society and went undercover on Red's orders to watch over Sayeon.

    Abilities

Min is most definitely the physically strongest member of Cell 4, having beat Iseul in an arm wrestle.

Min Woo is an aberrant who uses green essence. His gift allows him to create large blades on both his arms. He does not seem to be able to hold anything while doing so. Despite claiming that he only activates his gift without a trigger when he wants his attack to be unexpected, the trigger he uses has not been made clear. He seems to clench his essence and swing it downwards to summon a second blade; it is possible that this is his trigger.

When he’s not holding back (as ordered to by Red/Samin in order to not expose himself as a spy), his gift can be turned into whip-like blades mid-attacks, allowing him to face off against wielders of relics.

Essence Detection: He sensed Saeyon essence in gym while training all the way from kitchen.

    Espionage-Infiltration

    Teaching

Cooking: He is fully capable of baking banana bread with ingredients from communal pantry.

    Relationships

    Sayeon Lee

Min's Cell Leader. Initially, Min disliked Sayeon, as the Crimson Society resents Sayeon somewhat for monopolizing Red's affection. He initially found her to be self-righteous, meek, and feeble, unable to master the basics of hand-to-hand combat or essence use. Unimpressed, reported to Red that he “doesn't know what you (Red) see in her.” However, during their training together, Min was surprised by Sayeon's drive and dedication to learn. Over time, he began to recognize the ruthlessness she shares with her sister.

Min will obey any order from Sayeon and prioritizes her safety above all else. While initially acting under Red's command, it is shown that he does start to care for Sayeon, as his essence flares up in fury and bloodlust when Taeho insults her.

    Iseul Kim

Min's cellmate. Despite the vast difference in their personalities, Min and Iseul get along quite well. Min seems to have taken a liking to Iseul almost immediately, baking banana bread for him after hearing that Iseul was hungry and making braised chicken after Iseul said he was craving it. In return, Iseul praises Min generously, and jumps to his defense when Taeho insults him.

    Ryujin Kang

Min's cellmate. Ever cheeky and abrasive, Ryujin makes jabs at Min's stoic behavior. Deep down, she harbors some disgust with his wordless obedience to Sayeon, calling him “Sayeon's attack dog.”

    The Crimson Society

Min is the sixth and most recent member of the Crimson Society, under the codename “White.”

    Red

Min's boss. Min shows respect for his boss by following her orders to watch over Sayeon, even he don't know what she sees in her.

    Silver

Min's superior. Min addresses Silver respectfully, calling him “seonbae.”

Samin Lee is the eldest daughter of the notorious Sara Lee. After Sara's death, Samin formed her own crime syndicate, The Crimson Society, and became the guardian of her younger sister Sayeon Lee.

Samin Lee is a tall woman with short, dark blue hair. She is usually seen wearing at least one article of red clothing. According to Sayeon, Samin resembles their mother greatly.

    Personality

As a result of having grown up in a criminal family and as an Aberrant, the experience influenced Samin's perspective towards the world. While it is unknown how Samin was prior to her mom death, flashbacks show she was caring and protective to Sayeon.

    History

When Samin was young, her parents were killed by the Aberrant Corps. As a result, she had to step up to be the head of the household. Samin had a relatively close relationship with Sayeon, but it is known that she was almost never at home. Samins close relationship with Sayeon ended when Samin killed Sayeon's-friend's-father. Sayeon thinks - “How many lives has Samin destroyed because of me?”

When Sayeon was abducted into the Aberrant Corps, Samin got her to go into a warehouse where the Butcher, a member of Begonia Group attacking the Sea Wolves. When confronted about this she explained it was to, “give her a taste of the real world”, before being handed a flash drive about the Godling after having Chung assassinated in exchange.

    Abilities

Samin possesses teal essence, and many guessed that her power is time-related because aberrancy is hereditary and Sayeon Lee has the ability to turn back time. When Sayeon Lee considers her own ability, she says “Knowing your (Samins) gift, it only makes sense that this would be the gift I have.” When Samin’s essence description appeared, it was blocked by her speech bubble leaving only the letter “T” to be showed.

    Relationships

Samin's mother. Samin described her as the most dangerous person you'd ever meet.

    Sayeon Lee

Despite their rough relationship, Samin cares for her sister as she sent a member of her gang to infiltrate the Corps in order to observe and protect Sayeon.

    Silver

He is Samin's second in command. They have a good relationship and even joke around with each other.

    White

While not much is known about their relationship, Samin must have a lot of faith in White abilities to send him undercover in the Corps to protect her sister.

    Jiwoook

They have a good working relationship. However, Samin considers him a softie because he has a tendency to let kids live instead of killing them.

Here is the profile for Juni Chang:

name: Juni Chang age: 23 Essence Color: Blue appearance: A young woman with dark purple hair (typically styled in pigtails) and matching dark purple eyes. Early in the series, her hair and eyes were originally drawn as brown before a palette update. She wears the standard Aberrant Corps uniform, accompanied by a specific tie that denotes her rank as a Level 7 officer. Her most striking feature is a black eyepatch worn over her left eye, which hides burn scars underneath.

Personality: Despite working for the notoriously brutal Aberrant Corps, Juni is surprisingly easygoing, laid-back, and a bit of a slacker who would rather be playing video games. She often acts as a mediator and prefers avoiding unnecessary conflict, sometimes opting to take her trainees out for coffee rather than strictly enforcing protocol. However, beneath her relaxed exterior, she is highly competent, perceptive, and fully capable of lethal combat when her job demands it.

history: In her younger school days, Juni was highly disciplined and serious (described by fans as a "less toxic Sayeon"), but a traumatic event—likely related to her burn scars and missing eye—drastically shifted her worldview into the more passive person she is today. She works at the Aberrant Corps' Third Headquarters. Following a string of casualties among higher-ranking officers, she was recently promoted to Level 7 and assigned to be the official mentor and supervisor for the trainees of Cell 4.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Ribbons (Blue Essence): Juni can materialize highly flexible blue ribbons within a certain radius around her body.
    • Binding & Slingshotting: She uses these ribbons to firmly wrap around and restrain enemies. She can also rapidly shorten the ribbons to violently yank opponents toward her, or release them at the perfect moment to send enemies flying with immense momentum.
    • Marionette Healing: Uniquely, she can use her ribbons like puppeteer strings to hold severed limbs in place, assisting the body's natural regeneration to reattach them.
    • Weakness: Because the ribbons are solid blue essence, they can be sliced through by sharp essence constructs (like blades).

    Relationships:

    • Sayeon Lee, Ryujin Kang, & Iseul: The trainees of Cell 4. She is their mentor. Sayeon is frequently baffled and frustrated by Juni's lack of traditional professionalism. Ryujin nicknames her "Officer Pigtails" and bluntly warns her not to get cocky, noting that a deceased friend of hers had the exact same ribbon ability.
    • Yesol Na: The captain of the Sea Wolves, a powerful aberrant criminal syndicate. Despite being on completely opposing sides of the law and clashing on the battlefield, the two eventually reach a surprising mutual understanding, choosing to put aside their differences and show each other mercy during a critical, life-or-death moment.

Trivia: According to the author's supplementary Q&A, if Juni weren't an aberrant, her dream job would be a ferret breeder. Her Myers-Briggs personality type is ISFP. The fandom heavily ships her with Yesol Na, affectionately dubbing the pairing "Junisol." Extremely dedicated (and toxic) gamer — heavy MapleStory and Skyrim player. If she weren’t an aberrant she would breed ferrets. Has “shrimp posture.” One of the earliest characters designed for the series and the one who went through the most redesigns. Same gift as a deceased friend of Ryujin Kang.

    name Taeho Gyeon

    age 18

    Essence Color Orange

appearance Average-height teenage boy with short, neat/organized blonde hair, light skin, and brown eyes. In the Aberrant Corps uniform he sometimes wears light yellow/tan pants instead of the standard black ones.

Personality Arrogant, sarcastic, and cocky. He looks down on other cells (especially Cell 4), viewing them as weak and pathetic, and can be dismissive even toward his own teammate Jungwoo. He masks insecurities with this attitude. Despite the arrogance he cares about his cellmates, listens to input from those he respects (like Dahee), and can offer help when he sees someone struggling. He takes his role as Cell 3 leader seriously and becomes more competitive/grudge-holding after setbacks.

history Member of the prestigious Gyeon Clan (known as the Corps’ “Dogs of War”), raised by parents who both work/worked for the Aberrant Corps. His father was a high-level officer (Level 9, son of former Corps head Taehan Gyeon) and his mother a Level 8 officer who married into the clan. He was homeschooled and prepared from a young age for Corps life. He is a Level 3 trainee and leader of Cell 3 at the 3rd HQ.

Abilities Gift: Essence Bombs. He condenses orange essence into explosive orbs/fireballs that he throws; they detonate on impact, on command, or if he loses focus. Power and number of bombs scale with the situation. Trigger is clenching his fist on an outstretched arm. Family technique: Selective destruction — he can omit certain targets from the blast (taught by his father; becomes harder at longer range). Weakness: The bombs can be disrupted/destroyed (e.g. by slashing) before they explode, causing them to dissipate harmlessly. Essence affects objects.

    Relationships

    • Cell 3: Leader. Cares for the group. Has a possible small crush on Dahee Eun (blushes around her, respects her input). Friendly with Jungwoo Do (hangs out, trusts his judgment, Jungwoo believes in him as leader). Teammate with Tsubaki Sumishiro.
    • Sayeon Lee / Cell 4: Initially dismissive; later despises her after she orchestrates his hand being cut off in Capture the Flag and “steals” points. Sees her as a rival who makes him feel insecure as a leader and a threat to his cell.
    • Family/Gyeon Clan: Admires his grandfather Taehan Gyeon (former head of the Corps). Distant/fearful relationship with his twin prodigy cousins/brothers Minguk & Gukhan Gyeon (was scared of them as a kid). Raised in a high-expectation military family environment.

    Trivia

    • Would get along with Rarog under normal circumstances.
    • If he were a dog, he’d be a Jindo.

    • Homeschooled.

name: Dahee Eun age: 18 Essence Color: Orange appearance: A young woman who is typically seen wearing the standard black uniform of the Aberrant Corps trainees. When she uses her ability, glowing orange wings with a distinct geometric, fairy-like pattern appear on her back.

Personality: Unlike many of the more aggressive or ruthless trainees in the Corps, Dahee is cheerful, energetic, and polite. She acts as a peacemaker and always tries to aim for the de-escalation of conflicts. Even during intense combat situations, she retains her politeness — she even apologized to Sayeon after kicking her down during a team match.

history: Like other 18-year-old aberrants, Dahee was conscripted into the Aberrant Corps. She was assigned to the Third Headquarters and placed into Cell 3, where she became a Level 3 trainee. She works alongside her teammates Taeho, Jungwoo, and Tsubaki to survive the grueling training and team battles.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Wings (Orange Essence): Dahee's gift allows her to summon wings made of orange essence. Because orange essence interacts with physical objects, these wings grant her the ability to fly at incredibly high speeds with massive acceleration, allowing her to easily catch opponents off guard.
    • Targeted Application: She doesn't just have to use the wings on herself. By pointing her index finger, she can summon wings onto other objects or people, granting them flight. When she does this, she gains complete control over their movement in the air.
    • Weakness/Limitation: She can only keep one pair of wings active at any given time. Additionally, lifting or moving heavier objects (like another person) requires a great deal of her focus.

    Relationships:

    • Taeho Gyeon: The leader of her team (Cell 3). Despite his abrasive personality, Dahee works well with him and supports him, such as when she used her wings to carry him to the infirmary after he was heavily injured.
    • Tsubaki Sumishiro & Jungwoo Do: Her other teammates in Cell 3.
    • Sayeon Lee: A rival trainee from Cell 4. Dahee respects her as an opponent but actively fights against her during inter-cell training exams. Trivia:
    • According to supplementary info, her Myers-Briggs personality type is ESFJ.
    • On the Wiki, she is noted under the alias "Nahyun".
    • Fans often refer to her as the "Apologetic Attacker" trope because of her tendency to say sorry to the people she attacks during exams.

Trivia Quote: “Nothing’s fun… if it’s too easy.” Author notes that she would likely have been a better leader for Cell 3 than Taeho. Originally conceived with the name “Tsubaki” (later given to her teammate). The type who would name her weapons if she had any.

appearance: An average-height teenage boy with short, wavy black hair (which appeared dark blue in earlier chapters) and light skin. He has grey eyes, wears round glasses, and is almost always seen wearing the standard Aberrant Corps trainee uniform. Personality: Introverted, quiet, and stoic. Compared to his more vocal or aggressive peers, Jungwoo is highly cautious and observant. He is fundamentally a gentle and "normal" guy who strongly dislikes violence and does not enjoy hurting others. When pushed to seriously injure someone during exams to secure a win, he experiences intense guilt and trauma afterward. He acts as the grounded, analytical voice of reason within his team. history: Before being conscripted, Jungwoo attended the same high school as Sayeon Lee and Jaeil Kim. Because society fears aberrants, he was heavily bullied, ostracized by his classmates, and forced to wear an essence restrictor cuff. Eventually, the relentless bullying caused him to snap and punch one of his tormentors, which only caused his peers to label him as a "violent aberrant." He was later drafted into the Aberrant Corps' 3rd Headquarters, where he became a Level 3 trainee assigned to Cell 3.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Spear (Blue Essence): Jungwoo can use his blue essence to spontaneously construct a solid spear, which he uses to stab or throw at opponents.
    • Summon to Hand: Once thrown, he has a telekinetic link to the weapon and can summon it back to his hand. The spear does not teleport; it physically flies back to him through the air.
    • Limitation: He can only create one spear per fight. If an enemy manages to grab onto the spear and physically overpower his telekinetic pull, he cannot summon it back or make a new one, leaving him defenseless.

Relationships: Taeho Gyeon:** The leader of his team (Cell 3). Jungwoo trusts Taeho's leadership but isn't afraid to disagree with him, especially when Taeho underestimates their opponents. Dahee Eun & Tsubaki Sumishiro:** His fellow Cell 3 teammates. Sayeon Lee:** They went to the same high school. Later, as rival trainees, Jungwoo desperately impaled Sayeon with his spear to prevent her team from winning an exam, an action that left him feeling intensely guilty for weeks. Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Tsubaki Sumishiro age: 18 Essence Color: Violet (Purple) appearance: A relatively short teenage girl with brown eyes and long brown hair that is styled into two braids, decorated with short pink ribbons. Unlike some of her peers, she usually incorporates a skirt into her standard Aberrant Corps trainee uniform.

Personality: Tsubaki is extremely shy, quiet, and introverted. She gets easily flustered and blushes when meeting new people or interacting with others. Because she is so soft-spoken and gentle, she can be somewhat naive and easily manipulated by more cunning characters.

history: Like the other 18-year-old trainees, Tsubaki was conscripted into the Aberrant Corps. She is stationed at the Third Headquarters as a Level 2 trainee and was placed into Cell 3. During the Corps' training exams, such as the Capture the Flag match, she serves as a support/distraction for her teammates but ends up falling victim to Sayeon's tactical deception.

    Abilities:

    • Illusion Clones (Violet Essence): Violet essence is tied to the distortion of perception. Tsubaki's specific gift allows her to create multiple, highly realistic visual illusions of herself (or objects).
    • People who see her ability for the first time often mistake these illusions for physical, solid clones.
    • Limitation: The clones are entirely intangible. If someone physically touches or strikes one of the illusions, it instantly disappears.
    • Trigger: To activate her ability, she points at her target using a specific hand sign (resembling a "Benediction" gesture).

    Relationships:

    • Taeho Gyeon, Dahee Eun, & Jungwoo Do: Her teammates in Cell 3. She generally stays quiet but follows her team's plans and relies on them in combat.
    • Sayeon Lee: A rival from Cell 4. During an exam, Sayeon ruthlessly took advantage of Tsubaki's trusting nature. When Sayeon pretended to surrender and asked Tsubaki to come closer, Sayeon used the opportunity to snatch the objective flag right out of Tsubaki's hands.

    Trivia:

    • According to the author's supplementary Q&A, her Myers-Briggs personality type is ISFJ (Defender).
21. #21Miyeon Sang

    Keys: Sang, Miyeon Sang, Miyeon

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Miyeon Sang age: ~32 Essence Color: Green appearance: A tall woman with black hair styled into a neat bun, grey/green eyes, and black glasses featuring a chain on the left side. She has a distinct mole above her lip. Unlike the standard suit jacket worn by many Aberrant Corps officers, she typically wears a formal grey waistcoat (vest) with matching trousers. When out on missions, she wears black gloves.

Personality: Infamous for her judicious and uncompromising nature, she earned the epithet "The Judge Hand." She is strict, cold, and highly observant. As an instructor, she is no-nonsense and does not tolerate weakness or excuses. For example, during a brutal training exam where a trainee lost his hand, she simply ordered the remaining teammates to continue the match rather than stopping it. She values short, simple answers and expects her subordinates to be completely aware of their own failings.

history: At age 18, Sang was conscripted into the Aberrant Corps and placed into Cell 1 alongside Hayoon Ahn. During her time as a Level 3 trainee, she experienced a highly traumatic event: her mentor, Lieutenant Baek, sent her to his home to retrieve some papers. There, she discovered Sara Lee (a notorious aberrant criminal and Sayeon's mother) sitting at a table with the decapitated head of Mr. Baek's daughter. This gruesome retaliation left a lasting mark on Sang. Over the years, she climbed the ranks of the Aberrant Corps, eventually becoming a Level 9 Officer and the head instructor for the current batch of trainees at the Third Headquarters.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Armor (Green Essence): Her specific gift allows her to manifest green essence into solid armor, which vastly increases her offensive power, defensive capabilities, and physical reach. So far, she has been shown primarily creating a powerful gauntlet.
    • Lie Detection / Aura Reading: Sang possesses a near-supernatural ability to read people's auras. This allows her to effortlessly detect deception, making it incredibly difficult for anyone to lie to her or hide their true intentions.

    Relationships:

    • Hayoon Ahn: The Chief Medical Officer of the Corps. They were cellmates (Cell 1) during their trainee days and have a deep, long-standing connection.
    • Sara Lee: Sayeon's mother. Sang was the one who discovered the horrific aftermath of Sara Lee's revenge against Lieutenant Baek.
    • Juni Chang: Sang often acts as a foil to Juni. She frequently scolds and harps on Juni for her slacker attitude and lack of traditional professionalism as a commanding officer.
    • Sayeon Lee & the 3rd HQ Trainees: As the head instructor, Sang coldly and strictly evaluates the trainees' exams, overseeing their brutal initiation into the Corps.

Trivia: According to the author's supplementary Q&A, her Myers-Briggs personality type is ISTJ (Logistician). Fans of the series heavily ship her with Hayoon Ahn, referring to the pairing as "Ahnsang." Birthday: December 21. Reached Level 9 slightly before Minguk Gyeon. Has tattoos including “LEX FERENDA” (“the law as it should be”) and “LA RAISON FAIT MA FORCE” (“reason is my strength”).

22. #22Hayoon Ahn

    Keys: Hayoon, Hayoon Ahn, Ahn

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Hayoon Ahn:

name: Hayoon Ahn age: Unknown (Likely late 20s to early 30s, noted to be slightly younger than Miyeon Sang) Essence Color: Yellow appearance: A woman with a very distinct appearance: she has long, pure white hair, pale skin, and pure white eyes. She typically wears a white doctor's coat or professional medical attire. Her lack of pigmentation is not natural; it is the physical result of being a victim of Rapture (an illegal essence-boosting drug) trafficking in her youth, as the essence-farming process drains the color from the victim's hair, eyes, and skin.

Personality: At first glance, Ahn presents herself with a highly friendly, polite, and gentle disposition, which heavily contrasts with the cold strictness of her colleague, Sang. However, this warm exterior hides a deeply ruthless and manipulative nature. She is highly emotionally intelligent, allowing her to easily read people's motivations and manipulate them to the Aberrant Corps' advantage. She is completely unfazed by violence and is entirely willing to murder innocent people with a calm, serene smile on her face.

history: As a child or adolescent, Ahn was a victim of a Rapture trafficking ring, where her essence was forcefully drained. She eventually ended up in the Aberrant Corps, serving as a Level 3 trainee in Cell 1 alongside Miyeon Sang. Over the years, she climbed the ranks to become a Level 8 Officer and the Chief Medical Officer of the Third Headquarters. She is the officer responsible for testing Sayeon Lee's abilities and forcing her conscription into the Corps. To tie up "loose ends" and keep Sayeon in line, Ahn ruthlessly murdered Sayeon's closest friend, Jaeil Kim.

    Abilities:

    • Touch of Life (Yellow Essence): Yellow essence is considered one of the rarest types and directly affects the essence of other people. Ahn's gift allows her to manipulate, control, and forcefully activate the essence of other aberrants.
    • Lethal Manipulation: She does not just use her powers for medical purposes; she can weaponize her control over another person's essence to instantly and cleanly kill them.

    Relationships:

    • Miyeon Sang: The Head Instructor of the trainees. She and Ahn were cellmates (Cell 1) back when they were trainees themselves. They have a long, deeply intertwined history and work closely together.
    • Sayeon Lee: Ahn was the one who tested Sayeon and brought her into the Corps. Sayeon views Ahn with immense fear and hatred for what she did to Jaeil.
    • Jaeil Kim: Sayeon's normal human best friend, whom Ahn murdered in cold blood.
    • Ryujin Kang: When Ryujin was imprisoned and chose execution over joining the Corps, it was Ahn who manipulated her into changing her mind by using Ryujin's desire for revenge against her. Ryujin heavily despises her.
    • Min Woo (White): Min shares her exact same physical traits (pure white hair and eyes) because he was also a Rapture trafficking victim, though Min claims he doesn't personally know her.

Trivia: According to the author's supplementary Q&A, her Myers-Briggs personality type is ENFP. Her birthday is June 20th. Fans of the series heavily ship her with Miyeon Sang, affectionately dubbing the pairing "Ahnsang." Conceptualized together with Miyeon Sang as a matching pair. Used to smoke (or started as early as Level 4). Originally designed as Level 9 before her final design. One of the earliest major supporting characters; her yellow tie is notable as it matches her essence color.

23. #23Ishaan Cha

    Keys: Cha, Ishaan Cha, Ishaan

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Ishaan Cha:

name: Ishaan Cha age: ~23 (He is the exact same age/from the same trainee class as Juni Chang) Essence Color: Orange appearance: A tall man with tan skin, dark grey eyes, and short, wavy dark brown hair. He wears a single earring on his left ear. He is almost always seen wearing the formal Aberrant Corps officer suit, complete with a tie that denotes his status as a Level 7 Officer.

Personality: Stern, highly disciplined, and fiercely loyal to the Aberrant Corps. He acts as a direct foil to Juni Chang: while she is laid-back and slacks off, Ishaan takes his duties incredibly seriously and operates with cold, unwavering professionalism. He doesn't complain about the grim, brutal realities of his job. However, despite his willingness to turn a blind eye to the Corps' dark deeds, he is not entirely heartless—he has a deep-seated belief that it is his duty to protect civilians from aberrant threats and is willing to risk his own life to do so.

history: Back when he was a trainee, Ishaan was in the same batch as Juni. Because of the deadly nature of the Aberrant Corps, the trainee fatality rate is typically around 80%. However, Ishaan and Juni's class suffered an even worse fate—out of their entire year, the two of them were the only survivors. While the trauma left Juni apathetic, Ishaan was actually excited to graduate and threw himself into his work. Over the years, he climbed the ranks to become a Level 7 Officer, and he now serves as the official cell mentor for Cell 3 at the Third Headquarters.

    Abilities:

    • Two-Point Magnetism (Orange Essence): Because orange essence interacts with physical matter, Ishaan's specific gift allows him to forcefully attract one surface or object to another, functioning similarly to an incredibly powerful, invisible grappling hook.
    • High-Speed Projectiles & Mobility: He can use this magnetic pull to launch massive objects at opponents with devastating force, or pull himself toward objects for sudden, high-speed mobility. He can also use it for precision, such as snapping an essence restrictor cuff onto someone's wrist from a distance.
    • Limitation: While it looks a bit like telekinesis, it is strictly based on attraction. He cannot easily suspend objects in the air, nor can he dexterously control their flight path once they are in motion.

    Relationships:

    • Juni Chang: His colleague and former classmate. They share a deep bond as the sole survivors of their training class, but they have completely opposite approaches to their jobs. Juni secretly thought he was insane for being excited about becoming an officer.
    • Taeho, Dahee, Jungwoo, & Tsubaki (Cell 3): The trainees under his direct supervision and mentorship.
    • Hayoon Ahn: A higher-ranking officer. Ishaan acts as a fiercely loyal subordinate to her, to the point where he quietly and efficiently cleaned up the mess (and disposed of the body) after Ahn murdered Sayeon's friend, Jaeil Kim.
    • Sayeon Lee: He used his abilities to trip Sayeon and forcefully restrain her on behalf of the Corps.

    Trivia:

    • His first name is pronounced "Chah Ishaan."
    • Fans often note how terrifying his unquestioning loyalty to the Aberrant Corps is, especially given how cleanly he disposed of Jaeil's body without a second thought.
24. #24Minguk Gyeon

    Keys: Gyeon, Minguk, Minguk Gyeon

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Minguk Gyeon:

name: Minguk Gyeon age: Unknown (Likely in his mid-to-late 20s) Essence Color: Orange appearance: A young man with short blond hair (typically parted down the middle), pale skin, and brown eyes. He shares a striking, almost exact resemblance with his identical twin brother, Gukhan. He is typically seen wearing the formal, professional suit of the Aberrant Corps, complete with a tie that denotes his highly prestigious rank as a Level 9 Officer.

Personality: Confident, highly ambitious, and deeply entrenched in the elitist culture of his family. He carries a heavy, terrifying presence that commands respect and fear. Unlike the more easily agitated Taeho, Minguk is focused, politically minded, and driven by a massive overarching goal: he openly aims to become a Level 10 Officer and eventually take the empty seat as the Head of the entire Aberrant Corps.

history: Minguk was born into the legendary Gyeon Clan, one of the most politically powerful and combat-oriented families in the Aberrant Corps. He and his twin brother, Gukhan, were raised for greatness from birth and quickly earned the title of the "Twin Prodigies" due to their immense, natural talent. Even as a child, Minguk was allowed to observe high-level meetings with his grandfather (Level 10 Officer Taehan Gyeon) and the former Head of the Corps, Aera Son. He rapidly ascended the ranks of the Corps to become a Level 9 Officer. His overwhelming talent and terrifying aura cast a massive shadow over his family, particularly affecting his much younger brother, Taeho.

    Abilities:

    • Orange Essence (Essence Bombs): As a prodigy of the Gyeon Clan, Minguk wields orange essence, which interacts with physical objects. While his specific combat style hasn't been fully showcased, the Gyeon family's signature, closely-guarded technique is the creation of highly destructive essence bombs. Because he is a Level 9 Officer, his mastery, destructive yield, and control over his essence are vastly superior to average aberrants.
    • Overwhelming Aura: He passively exudes an extremely heavy and terrifying aura of danger that can frighten or paralyze weaker aberrants just by being in his presence.

    Relationships:

    • Gukhan Gyeon: His identical twin brother. They share the title of the "Twin Prodigies" and both serve as high-ranking officers.
    • Taeho Gyeon: His significantly younger brother. Minguk's overwhelming talent and terrifying aura made Taeho deeply afraid of him during their childhood, which sparked Taeho's intense inferiority complex and deep-seated insecurities.
    • Taehan Gyeon: His grandfather, a legendary Level 10 Officer. Minguk respects him and aims to follow in his footsteps to gain ultimate power in the Corps.
    • Ryujin Kang: Ryujin holds a blood grudge against the Gyeon Clan because a Gyeon officer slaughtered her found family at a Concordat nest. Because Minguk is identical to Gukhan (the officer who actually led the raid), she harbors a lethal hatred for his face.

Trivia: Note: While it is sometimes mistakenly believed by fans (and occasionally misstated) that Minguk is Taeho's twin, Minguk and Gukhan are the actual twins! Both of them are Taeho's older brothers. Due to their identical appearance, fans and even characters in the universe easily confuse Minguk and Gukhan for one another.

25. #25Aera Son

    Keys: Son, Aera Son, Aera

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Aera Son:

name: Aera Son age: Unknown (Deceased; died approximately 14 years before the start of the main story) Essence Color: Orange appearance: An older woman who is typically seen in flashbacks wearing a highly decorated, formal Aberrant Corps uniform. She has brown hair tied back into a ponytail. Her most distinct physical feature is a solid black, triangular eyepatch worn over one of her eyes.

Personality: As a legendary historical figure in the story, Aera is remembered as an awe-inspiring, fiercely determined, and incredibly commanding leader. She was universally respected by her subordinates and was famously described as a "10 among 10s" (the absolute pinnacle of an officer). She possessed an unyielding sense of duty and immense bravery, ultimately proving willing to sacrifice her own life to eliminate a catastrophic threat.

history: Aera Son was the legendary Level 10 Officer and the former Head (Commander) of the entire Aberrant Corps. Roughly 14 years prior to the events of the story, she led a major operation during the infamous "Hongsan Island Catastrophe." There, she fought against an overwhelmingly powerful, non-human entity known as a "Godling" (codenamed Cain). She succeeded in killing the Godling in an act of mutually assured destruction, losing her own life in the process. She is also officially credited in history as the officer who killed the notorious aberrant criminal Sara Lee. Since her heroic death, her seat as the Head of the Corps has remained completely empty.

    Abilities:

    • Orange Essence (Unknown Gift): While it is officially recorded that she wielded Orange Essence (which interacts with physical matter), the exact mechanics of her specific gift have not yet been fully revealed. However, it is universally acknowledged within the story's lore to be one of the most powerful abilities of her generation.
    • Supreme Combatant: To reach the rank of Level 10 and command the entire Aberrant Corps, her combat prowess, tactical intelligence, and raw power were essentially unmatched, allowing her to go toe-to-toe with a Godling.

    Relationships:

    • Sungwoo Han: Currently a Level 10 Officer who served under Aera when he was much younger. He was present at the Hongsan Island Catastrophe and deeply respected her. Her final words to him before her death were, "Good luck, kid. You're gonna need it."
    • Cain (Godling): The massively destructive entity that Aera fought and sacrificed herself to kill.
    • Sara Lee: Sayeon's mother and an infamous criminal. Aera Son is famously reported to be the one who finally executed her. Trivia:
    • Within the ranks of the Aberrant Corps, she was known by the alias "The Divine Witch."
    • Because she wore a prominent eyepatch, some fans in the community have spun wild theories trying to secretly connect her to Juni Chang (who also wears an eyepatch), though their different essence colors and the established timeline make them completely different people.
26. #26Mija Jung

    Keys: Jung, Mija, Mija Jung

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Mija Jung:

name: Mija Jung age: Unknown (Historical figure) Essence Color: Teal appearance: A woman with black hair and striking teal eyes. In flashbacks and historical depictions, she is seen wearing a highly decorated, sharp military-style uniform. She has an incredibly intense, almost crazed and battle-hardened look to her design that perfectly matches her reputation.

Personality: While she hasn't had much on-screen dialogue due to being a historical figure, her visual design and in-universe lore suggest she was fiercely intense, unhinged on the battlefield, and possessed a terrifyingly commanding presence.

history: Mija Jung is a legendary figure in the lore of Hand Jumper. She was a Level 10 Officer and served as the Head (Commander) of the entire Aberrant Corps three generations prior to the events of the main story. She held the position before Taehan Gyeon (Taeho's grandfather) and Aera Son. According to the story's history, the title of Level 10 is only given to those who do something extraordinary; Mija was promoted to the highest rank and made the Head of the Corps specifically because the military and the government desperately needed a "war hero" at the time.

    Abilities:

    • Teal Essence: She is one of the extremely rare aberrants in history known to possess Teal essence, which is notable because it is the exact same rare essence color as the protagonist, Sayeon Lee.
    • Gravity Shatter: According to the author's supplementary lore and Patreon Q&As, her specific gift is known as "Gravity Shatter." While the full destructive mechanics of this power haven't been showcased in the main comic yet, as a Level 10 Officer, her raw power and combat abilities were considered essentially god-like compared to normal aberrants. Relationships:
    • Taehan Gyeon & Aera Son: Her direct successors as the Level 10 leaders of the Aberrant Corps.

    Trivia:

    • In the history books of the Aberrant Corps, she is famously remembered by the terrifying alias, "The War God" (or War God Mija).
    • Her introduction in the story sparked massive interest among fans because of her Teal essence—proving that Sayeon isn't the only one with this bizarre and rare color, and showing how deadly Teal abilities can be.

Here is the profile for Jungwoo (specifically the one known by the alias Silver):

name: Jungwoo (Alias: Silver) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Blue appearance: A young man who serves as the Vice President of the Crimson Society. As a high-ranking member of an underground criminal syndicate, he carries himself with a serious demeanor fitting his position as a gang leader.

Personality: Despite being the second-in-command of a violent criminal organization, Jungwoo possesses a surprising underlying moral compass and a protective streak, particularly toward children or those who are vulnerable. He has an ironic sense of justice and responsibility that heavily contrasts with his status as a wanted, illegal aberrant.

history: Jungwoo is an illegal aberrant operating in the underworld. He was the very second person to join the Crimson Society, a powerful crime syndicate founded and run by Samin Lee (Red). Over time, he became the Vice President and second-in-command of the gang. When the Crimson Society first found a young Min Woo (White), Jungwoo acted as his senior and was highly protective of him, notably refusing to hand the boy over to the Concordat (another faction) because he believed they would be terrible at raising a child.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Platform (Blue Essence): Because blue essence allows for the creation of tangible objects, Jungwoo's specific gift grants him the ability to create a flat, circular disc (or platform) out of solid essence.
    • Levitation & Support: He can make this platform levitate in the air. The construct is highly durable and can easily support the physical weight of at least one person, making it incredibly useful for mobility, gaining a height advantage, or rescuing someone.

    Relationships:

    • Samin Lee (Red): The founder and leader of the Crimson Society. Jungwoo is her trusted right-hand man and second-in-command.
    • Min Woo (White): His junior in the gang. Jungwoo watched out for him when he was younger and actively protected him from being given to other, less caring organizations.
    • Pink & Black: Fellow members of the Crimson Society.

    Trivia:

    • According to the author's supplementary Q&A, if Jungwoo were a normal human instead of an aberrant, his dream job would be a police officer—a highly ironic fact given his current life as a high-ranking syndicate criminal.
    • Because he shares a first name with Jungwoo Do (the trainee from Cell 3), he is most commonly referred to by his Crimson Society code-name, "Silver," to avoid confusion.
28. #28Black

Here is the profile for Black:

name: Black age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Orange appearance: A male member of the underground criminal syndicate, the Crimson Society. He is typically seen wearing dark, unassuming clothing fitting for his role in a violent underground gang.

Personality: Pragmatic, calculating, and somewhat ruthless. As a seasoned member of a criminal syndicate, he approaches situations logically rather than emotionally. This practical mindset was demonstrated when he coldly voted to give a vulnerable child away to another dangerous organization rather than having the gang take responsibility for him.

history: Black is an illegal aberrant operating in the criminal underworld. He was the very third person to join the Crimson Society, a powerful crime syndicate founded and led by Samin Lee (Red). Years ago, when the gang discovered a young, mute Min Woo (White), Black voted to simply hand the boy over to the Concordat (another faction). However, he was overruled by Jungwoo (Silver), who chose to protect the child. Black continues to operate as one of the core members of the gang, participating in their underground dealings and violent clashes.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Pyrokinesis (Orange Essence): Because orange essence interacts with physical objects and the environment, Black's specific gift allows him to create and manipulate fire using his essence to burn objects and enemies.
    • Breath Weapon: He channels his ability by literally breathing his essence out of his mouth in the form of a highly destructive stream of flames.

    Relationships:

    • Samin Lee (Red): The founder and leader of the Crimson Society.
    • Jungwoo (Silver): The Vice President of the gang. They had conflicting opinions on what to do with Min Woo in the past.
    • Min Woo (White): Black wanted to give him away to the Concordat when they first found him as a child, though Min ultimately became a fellow member of the gang.
    • Pink & Gold: Other fellow members of the Crimson Society.

    Trivia:

    • According to the author's supplementary info (Patreon Q&A), Black was the 3rd person to join the Crimson Society.
    • Every core member of the Crimson Society represents one of the standard essence colors. Despite his alias being "Black", he represents the Orange essence of the group.

Here is the profile for Pink:

name: Pink (Real name unknown) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Purple appearance: As a master of disguise, Pink's "true" physical appearance is rarely the focus, as she frequently changes how she looks. She is a female member of the Crimson Society and is often seen in unassuming clothing when not disguised. Because of her ability, she can look like almost anyone, and has even been shown taking the form of a little girl to complete a mission.

Personality: Pink is highly loyal, professional, and secretive. She follows the orders of her boss, Samin Lee (Red), without question. Because her role in the gang revolves around espionage and infiltration, she knows how to act the part of whatever disguise she puts on, keeping her true emotions and personality closely guarded.

history: Pink is an illegal aberrant and a trusted member of the underground criminal syndicate known as the Crimson Society. Not much is known about her life before joining the gang, but she serves as their premier spy, infiltrator, and assassin. She frequently accompanies Samin to high-level underworld meetings and carries out covert operations for the syndicate.

    Abilities:

    • Perfect Disguise (Purple Essence): Because purple essence is intangible and tied to the distortion of perception, Pink's specific gift allows her to perfectly replicate another person.
    • Flawless Replication: She doesn't just change her face; she completely alters her physical body type, clothing, and voice. Most dangerously, she can flawlessly replicate another person's unique essence signature. This makes her disguises essentially undetectable to aura-readers or essence-scanners, making her the perfect operative for undercover missions and assassinations.

    Relationships:

    • Samin Lee (Red): The founder and leader of the Crimson Society. Pink holds a deep respect for her boss and acts as one of her most loyal subordinates.
    • Black, Jungwoo (Silver), Min Woo (White), & Gold: Her fellow members and coworkers within the Crimson Society. Trivia:
    • Although her syndicate codename is "Pink," her actual essence color is Purple.
    • Because her real name has never been revealed, she is exclusively referred to by her color alias.

Here is the profile for Sungwoo Han:

name: Sungwoo Han age: ~Mid-to-late 30s Essence Color: Blue appearance: A tall man with dark hair parted on the left side, grey eyes, and a small mole below his left eyebrow. He wears blue rectangular wireframe glasses and a silver ring on his right ring finger. Sayeon notes that he is "very handsome but in a generic way," making his face somewhat hard to remember. Over his highly decorated formal Aberrant Corps uniform, he usually wears a large black trench coat that he leaves unbuttoned or draped over his shoulders. He is almost always seen wearing a pleasant smile.

Personality: Despite being the highest-ranking officer currently alive in the Corps, Han comes across as incredibly friendly, approachable, and remarkably kind. His demeanor is so gentle that Sayeon felt completely comfortable interrupting him to borrow his phone. However, this warm exterior belies an unimaginably lethal and efficient killer. As a Level 10, he is a battle-hardened veteran who has witnessed immense tragedy, yet he hides the dark reality of his job behind a constant, easygoing smile.

history: Sungwoo Han is a legendary figure and currently a Level 10 Officer, serving as the Head of the Aberrant Corps' Third Headquarters and a member of the elite 310 Council. During his trainee days, he was placed in Cell 4 of his generation. Roughly 14 years ago, as a Level 7 officer, he was present during the catastrophic Hongsan Island mission where he watched the former Head of the Corps, Aera Son, sacrifice herself to defeat a Godling. A few years later, as a Level 8, he executed a high-ranking syndicate member right in front of the man's daughter (Yesol Na), though he let her live. He was only recently promoted to the ultimate rank of Level 10, though the exact circumstances of his promotion remain highly classified.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Swords / Slashes (Blue Essence): Because blue essence interacts with tangible objects, Han's gift allows him to generate devastatingly fast, hyper-lethal essence sword slashes.
    • Omnidirectional Speed & Precision: His slashes are so fast they are practically invisible. He doesn't even need a direct line of sight or an exact location to hit a target perfectly. He once flawlessly beheaded an entire murder of crows out of the sky in a fraction of a second. According to Minguk Gyeon, Han is so powerful that he could massacre every single living thing inside a building in the blink of an eye.

    Relationships:

    • Aera Son: The former Head of the Corps. He served under her at Hongsan Island and witnessed her heroic death, carrying on her legacy.
    • Minguk Gyeon & Miyeon Sang: The two Level 9 Officers directly under his command at the Third Headquarters. Minguk has unwavering faith in Han's leadership.
    • Sayeon Lee: She is a trainee at his Headquarters. Han was surprisingly accommodating to her, teasing her playfully when she asked to use his phone.
    • Yesol Na: The leader of the Sea Wolves syndicate. Han executed her father in front of her years ago, sparking her intense hatred for the Corps.

    Trivia:

    • According to the author (Sleepacross) in a Q&A, Sungwoo Han is her absolute favorite character to write from an author's standpoint.
    • To put a stop to popular fan theories, the author officially confirmed that Sungwoo Han is not Sayeon's secret father.

Personality: Jiwook is incredibly ruthless, sadistic, and unpredictable. He has a massive superiority complex regarding aberrants, viewing normal humans as fragile and inferior. He takes gruesome joy in his work—particularly in decapitating his enemies—and has no qualms about using torture. However, he possesses a surprising and strict moral compass when it comes to minors: he absolutely refuses to hurt children. He once brutally murdered a prosecutor but intentionally left her children completely unharmed, and he even spared Sayeon because her stubbornness reminded him of his younger brother.

history: During his grade school years, Jiwook was relentlessly bullied simply for being an aberrant, which deeply fueled his current hatred for normal society. He eventually became a highly dangerous Level 8 Aberrant criminal, joining the underground syndicate known as the "Begonia Group" and serving as a core member of their "Team Knight." He acts as a notorious enforcer under the alias "Butcher." He has a younger brother who went down a completely different path and joined the Aberrant Corps, leading to their current estrangement.

    Abilities:

    • Explosive Slashes (Green Essence): Because green essence is tangible and augments the user's body, Jiwook's gift allows him to manifest a solid, highly destructive blade directly from his arm.
    • Delayed Detonation: When he slashes an object or a person with this blade, he leaves behind a residue of explosive essence. He can detonate this residual essence on command at any time. His specific trigger to cause the explosion is to point at the target and say the word, "Bang." This makes his close-quarters combat unbelievably lethal and allows him to easily blow through heavy physical obstructions.

    Relationships:

    • Minnie: His partner-in-crime within the Begonia Group. They have a very close dynamic, and her defensive/sensory essence abilities perfectly balance out his wildly aggressive, purely offensive fighting style.
    • Younger Brother: An unnamed younger brother who joined the Aberrant Corps. Despite being on completely opposite sides of the law and having no contact, Jiwook clearly still holds some affection for him.

    Trivia:

    • Because of their similar physical features (wavy brown hair, similar facial structures) and the fact that Jiwook's estranged brother joined the Aberrant Corps, there is a very popular fan theory that Ishaan Cha might actually be his younger brother.
    • According to the author's supplementary Q&A, if Jiwook were a normal human instead of an aberrant, his job would be a "freeter" (a Japanese term for someone who survives by constantly hopping between various part-time jobs).
32. #32Minnie

    Keys: Minnie

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Minnie (Real name unknown) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Blue appearance: A young woman of very short stature—she is so petite that she barely reaches Jiwook's shoulders. She has long, light blue hair, matching light blue eyes, pale skin, and freckles. When out in public or conducting violent operations for her syndicate, she wears a distinct light grey mask that resembles a mouse to conceal her identity.

Personality: Quiet, reserved, and surprisingly soft-spoken for someone involved in a massive criminal syndicate. Minnie visibly dislikes violence and unnecessary cruelty; she once asked another criminal to stop talking about a gruesome assassination because it made her uncomfortable. She is highly empathetic and actually pities the trainees forced into the Aberrant Corps. Her gentle, defensive nature serves as a stark contrast to her loud, unhinged, and bloodthirsty partner.

history: Minnie is an illegal aberrant and a high-ranking (Level 8) associate of the Begonia Group, one of the three major crime syndicates in Koryo. She operates specifically as the partner-in-crime to the notorious enforcer Jiwook (Butcher), traveling and working in tandem with him during syndicate hits, operations, and underground clashes.

    Abilities:

    • Shield Generation (Blue Essence): Because blue essence allows the user to create tangible constructs, Minnie's specific gift grants her the ability to generate massive, incredibly durable shields. Her defense is absolute top-tier; she was able to easily block a direct hit from Black's destructive fire-breath without her shield taking a single scratch.
    • Sensory Perception: Aside from her shields, Minnie possesses an extraordinary radar-like sensory ability. She can instantly detect, locate, and identify the presence of other aberrants within a one-mile radius. Because of this massive detection range, it is practically impossible for enemies to ambush her or Jiwook, unless the attacker's essence has been completely suppressed or drained.

    Relationships:

    • Jiwook (Butcher): Her partner-in-crime within the Begonia Group. They perfectly balance each other out in combat—he provides absolute, purely lethal offense, while she provides absolute defense and sensory tracking. They are heavily implied to be love interests and are often shown acting intimately and affectionately with one another.
    • Pink: A spy from the rival Crimson Society. Minnie interacted with her during an underground meeting but was put off by Pink casually discussing a gruesome murder.
    • Penrose & Hope: Fellow high-ranking members of the Begonia Group syndicate.

    Trivia:

    • She is a prime example of the "Curtains Match the Window" character design trope, as her hair and eyes are the exact same shade of light blue.
    • The grey mouse mask she wears perfectly fits the "small and quiet" aesthetic implied by her name, Minnie.
    • Fans often point out that she and Jiwook perfectly encapsulate the "Huge Guy, Tiny Girl" and "Red Oni, Blue Oni" character tropes.
33. #33Penrose

    Keys: Penrose

    Entry settings

name: Penrose (Real name unknown) age: Early to mid-30s (He was conscripted in the same year as Miyeon Sang and Hayoon Ahn) Essence Color: Violet (Purple) appearance: A tall man with pale skin and long, wavy reddish-orange curly hair. He typically wears formal dark clothing, usually a grayish-black suit jacket over a black undershirt, with distinct golden-yellow buttons. He is frequently depicted holding or smoking a long, wooden churchwarden pipe.

Personality: Despite being the mastermind behind a massive and violent criminal empire, Penrose outwardly presents himself as incredibly calm, polite, and remarkably cheerful. He rarely loses his temper, often smiling and speaking with genuine warmth even when addressing subordinates about gruesome interrogations or gang warfare. This casually pleasant demeanor heavily contrasts with his status as an underworld kingpin, making his presence deeply unsettling and highly intimidating.

history: Back when he was 18, Penrose was drafted into the Aberrant Corps and was actually placed into Cell 1—meaning he was direct cellmates with Miyeon Sang and Hayoon Ahn during their trainee days. Sometime after his training, he defected from the Corps and vanished into the criminal underworld. He eventually took over the Rose Group, reorganizing it into the Begonia Group, one of the three largest and most powerful crime syndicates in Koryo. Because of his massive influence and power, he is classified as a Level 10 aberrant.

    Abilities:

    • Reality Bending (Violet Essence): Because violet essence is tied to the distortion of perception, his gift doesn't alter physical matter, but rather perfectly dictates how others perceive reality.
    • Total Sensory Manipulation: He has the terrifying ability to completely manipulate all five senses of his targets (sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste). He can effortlessly erase his presence from a room, conjure perfect illusions that feel entirely physically real, and trap enemies in their own minds.
    • It is an overwhelmingly powerful ability that makes him nearly untouchable in combat. Captain Sungwoo Han openly admits that there is essentially no direct counter to it, famously describing it as "the most insufferable gift in the entire country."

    Relationships:

    • Miyeon Sang & Hayoon Ahn: His former cellmates from his days as an Aberrant Corps trainee. They are now on completely opposite sides of the law.
    • Jiwook (Butcher), Minnie, Heron, Snake, & Hope: High-ranking enforcers and operatives of the Begonia Group who follow his direct orders.
    • Sungwoo Han: The Level 10 Captain of the 3rd Headquarters. Han goes out of his way to avoid interacting with Penrose due to how annoying and dangerous his sensory manipulation is.
    • Samin Lee (Red): The leader of the rival Crimson Society. As competing syndicate bosses, they have an intensely hostile and politically tense dynamic.

    Trivia:

    • Fans were shocked to realize that Penrose was actually secretly shown in the very first chapter of the webtoon in a flashback panel detailing Sang and Ahn's trainee cell, long before he was officially introduced in the story.
34. #34Gyumin Yoo (Heron)

Keys: Heron, Gyumin Yoo, Yoo, Gyumin

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Gyumin Yoo (Alias: Heron) age: ~27 Essence Color: Blue appearance: A young man who initially gives off the impression of a silent, terrifying killer. Following his brutal fight with Sayeon Lee, his most notable physical trait is his right hand: Sayeon chopped off four of his fingers with a meat cleaver. He only managed to reattach two of them (his pinky and ring fingers), leaving him permanently missing his index and middle fingers on his dominant hand.

Personality: Gyumin is incredibly socially awkward, blunt, and takes everything very literally. His syndicate peers openly describe him as "socially incompetent." However, while he may appear naive, he is actually highly observant and deductive. He possesses a surprisingly casual and pragmatic mindset toward his criminal life—he essentially became a syndicate enforcer because he needed a way to make a living and preferred it over working a dead-end job. In combat, he is a massive thrill-seeker; when Sayeon violently defeated him, rather than being angry about his mutilated hand, he was ecstatic, praised her as a "true opponent," and developed a deep desire for a rematch.

history: Before his life of crime, Gyumin was a highly talented competitive fencer. His sports career and normal life came to an abrupt end when he confessed to his father that his aberrant abilities had manifested, prompting him to run away from home. He eventually joined the criminal underworld, becoming an enforcer for the powerful Begonia Group under the alias "Heron" (likely operating within their "Team Cloak"). He clashed heavily with Sayeon during a syndicate raid, suffering a severe defeat before escaping with the help of his associate, Father Hope.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Rapier (Blue Essence): Because blue essence creates tangible constructs, Gyumin's specific gift allows him to manifest a solid blue rapier.
    • Master Fencer: His physical combat style is entirely based on his past as a competitive athlete. He strikes with blinding speed and terrifying precision. His thrusts carry immense physical force, allowing him to puncture massive circular holes into walls, effortlessly pierce through defenses, and physically pin opponents above the ground.

    Relationships:

    • Sayeon Lee: The protagonist. Despite the fact that she permanently maimed him, he holds her in extremely high regard because of her strong will and ruthlessness. He eagerly hopes to fight her again, while Sayeon simply views him as a dangerous gang member she needed to eliminate.
    • Jungwoo Do: The Level 3 trainee from Cell 3 (who wields the blue essence spear). It has been officially confirmed that Jungwoo is Gyumin's younger cousin, which explains their highly similar blue-essence weapon abilities.
    • Father Hope (Mr. Gwak): A fellow member/associate of the Begonia Group who helped Gyumin escape after he lost to Sayeon. Gyumin was fully aware that Hope was secretly running a massive Rapture trafficking cult, but simply didn't care.

    Trivia:

    • Fans find him highly amusing because he perfectly fits the trope of a terrifying villain whose actual motivation is just surviving the modern economy.
35. #35Wolhye Auclair

    Keys: Wolhye, Auclair, Wolhye Auclair

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Wolhye Auclair:

name: Wolhye Auclair age: 40s to 50s Essence Color: Purple appearance: A fair-skinned older woman with gray, shoulder-length hair and downturned gray eyes. She is most notably seen wearing a purple relic earring on her left ear. Her current attire consists of somewhat masculine, professional clothing: a grey coat, red trousers, and a distinct red handkerchief tucked into her breast pocket. In flashbacks, she is shown wearing lighter-colored, feminine dresses.

Personality: Despite being a high-ranking enforcer in a brutal criminal syndicate, Wolhye is highly emotional, deeply introspective, and somewhat melancholic. She has historically struggled to contain her intense emotions and possesses a strong sense of empathy—she once openly wept at an associate's funeral because she felt the deceased man was "too kind for the world." However, as a decades-long veteran of the underworld, she is also exceptionally composed and resolute in battle, weaponizing her deep understanding of human emotion against her enemies.

history: Wolhye is a veteran, high-ranking aberrant (Level 9) who has been an active and loyal member of the Sea Wolves criminal syndicate for over 20 years. During her earlier years in the syndicate, she worked alongside Sayeon's parents, Sara Lee and Doyeon Lee. Wolhye deeply admired Sara from afar, frequently watching in awe as Sara ruthlessly commanded the syndicate like a personal game of chess without ever needing to use her aberrant gift.

    Abilities:

    • Despair Field (Purple Essence): Because purple essence distorts perception and the mind, Wolhye's specific gift allows her to project a mental field that induces intense fear, negative emotions, and paralyzing despair in anyone within its radius. She can also force targets to experience terrifyingly vivid hallucinations of their greatest fears.
    • Guilt Scaling: The effectiveness of her power is not strictly based on physical strength; it scales directly with the emotional state and life experiences of her target. If an opponent harbors deep-seated guilt, trauma, or regret, her ability becomes overwhelmingly powerful and can completely paralyze them.
    • Attack Reflection: Her gift also grants her the ability to reflect incoming attacks, though the exact mechanics of this reflection remain somewhat mysterious.
    • Mastery & Relic: Originally, she needed to clasp her hands to trigger her ability, but her decades of battle experience have made this motion unnecessary. She also wields a powerful purple relic (her earring), which drastically amplifies her power to that of a Level 9 threat.
    • Selume's Blessing: Uniquely, Wolhye is a devout worshipper of the Godling known as Selume. Her belief grants her access to Selume's realm, where she can request an audience and a supernatural blessing, though doing so comes at an incredibly severe personal cost.

    Relationships:

    • Sara Lee: Sayeon's late mother and a former Sea Wolves executive. Wolhye had immense respect and admiration for Sara, often wishing she could be as calm and authoritative as her.
    • Doyeon Lee: Sara's late husband. Wolhye thought incredibly highly of his kindness and mourned him deeply when he passed away.
    • Snake: A powerful Level 8 enforcer whom Wolhye clashes with; Snake confidently believed she could defeat Wolhye, not fully realizing how Wolhye's power scales with her opponent's guilt.
    • Sayeon Lee, Iseul Kim, Taeho Gyeon, & Min Woo: The younger generation of aberrants and trainees she encounters and battles during her syndicate operations.

    Trivia:

    • Her surname, "Auclair," is French. Because the story takes place in the fictional nation of Koryo (which parallels Korea), fans heavily theorize that Wolhye is of mixed ethnicity (half-Korean, half-French).
    • The distinct red handkerchief she wears in her pocket is a recognized symbol of her 20+ years of unwavering loyalty to the Sea Wolves syndicate.
36. #36Daeseok Kim

    Keys: Daeseok, Daeseok Kim, Kim

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Daeseok Kim:

name: Daeseok Kim age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: None (He is a normal human) appearance: An adult man who is shown wearing a formal grey suit, notably accessorized with a blue handkerchief tucked into his front breast pocket.

Personality: Despite working within a highly violent, aberrant-run criminal syndicate, Daeseok possessed a surprising degree of empathy. He showed genuine pity for struggling young aberrants (like Yesol Na) because of the tragically violent and difficult lives they were destined to lead. However, he also admitted that he sometimes felt envious of their supernatural powers.

history: Daeseok was a normal human associated with the Sea Wolves, one of the three major crime syndicates in Koryo. In the Sea Wolves, the traditional social hierarchy is entirely flipped: aberrants are at the absolute top, and normal humans are at the bottom. Daeseok operated as a human B-Rank personnel. His life came to a gruesome end when he and his human coworkers were captured by the rival Begonia Group. During a brutal interrogation regarding the Godling "Lilith," he was murdered by the notorious enforcer Jiwook (Butcher) inside a Begonia warehouse.

    Abilities:

    • None (Normal Human): Unlike the vast majority of characters focused on in the series, Daeseok is completely normal and possesses no aberrant abilities, essence, or combat powers.

    Relationships:

    • Yesol Na: A young captain in the Sea Wolves. In flashbacks, Daeseok is shown feeling sympathetic toward her and the harsh, dangerous life she was forced to live as a young aberrant.
    • Jiwook (Butcher): The high-ranking Begonia Group enforcer who ruthlessly killed Daeseok during the warehouse interrogation.

    Trivia:

    • In the Sea Wolves syndicate, carrying a blue handkerchief in your pocket is a status symbol specifically reserved for high-ranking members.
    • His brutal death early in the story serves as a prime example to the readers of just how ruthless the turf wars between the syndicates are, and perfectly establishes the terrifying cruelty of Jiwook's character.
37. #37Snake

    Keys: Snake

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Snake:

name: Huisu (Alias: Snake) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Red appearance: A young woman with short green hair, striking yellow eyes, and numerous facial piercings, including "snake bites" on her lower lip, an eyebrow piercing, and multiple ear piercings. She dresses in a distinct alternative/gothic style, wears a lot of jewelry (including a cross necklace), and has unique tattoos spanning down her right leg.

Personality: Snake is an impulsive, hyperactive, and wildly unpredictable thrill-seeker. She acts incredibly carefree, frequently showing up chronically late to syndicate meetings, much to the annoyance of her peers. Most notably, she possesses almost zero empathy and feels absolutely no remorse for her violent actions. She gets bored easily, frequently calling her partner a "boring old man" when he tries to prioritize their mission over picking a fight.

history: Huisu is an illegal aberrant operating under the alias "Snake." She is a Level 8 enforcer for the Begonia Group and a member of their "Team Strike." She operates alongside her partner, Rarog. Recently, the two of them spent six months together on a covert operation in Ruthenia. During this mission, Snake casually murdered a mother and child in the woods simply because they accidentally saw her. Upon returning from Ruthenia, she eagerly disobeys orders to lay low and dives headfirst into a brutal battle involving the Sea Wolves and the Aberrant Corps trainees.

    Abilities:

    • Total Body Manipulation (Red Essence): Because red essence directly enhances the physical body, Snake's specific gift allows her to contort, stretch, and manipulate her own anatomy in terrifying and bizarre ways.
    • Elasticity & Muscle Coiling: She can stretch her limbs and neck to extreme lengths (often using this to bite chunks out of her opponents with her teeth) and grip onto ceilings or walls. She can also tightly twist and rapidly uncoil her muscles to grant herself terrifying bursts of speed, making her a highly agile and lethal close-quarters combatant.
    • Guilt Immunity: Because she is a genuine psychopath with essentially zero empathy or remorse, she is naturally highly resistant to Wolhye Auclair's purple essence "Despair Field," which relies heavily on scaling off an opponent's internal guilt.

    Relationships:

    • Rarog: Her partner-in-crime in the Begonia Group's Team Strike. They perfectly fit the chaotic/serious dynamic, with Rarog being the cold, reasoning one and Snake being the unhinged freak. Despite her lack of empathy, Rarog deeply cares for her, even asking her to run away to Ruthenia with him.
    • Wolhye Auclair: An executive of the rival Sea Wolves syndicate. Snake gleefully fought her, completely unfazed by Wolhye's terrifying psychological abilities.
    • Minnie: A fellow high-ranking Begonia Group member who gets incredibly annoyed by Snake's constant tardiness.

    Trivia:

    • True to her alias, her lip piercings are literally called "snake bites," and her fighting style heavily mimics a snake striking its prey (stretching her neck and biting).
    • Her complete lack of guilt makes her the absolute worst possible matchup for Wolhye Auclair, effectively acting as her hard counter in battle.
38. #38Doyeon Lee

    Keys: Lee, Doyeon Lee, Doyeon

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Doyeon Lee:

name: Doyeon Lee age: Unknown (Adult; Deceased) Essence Color: Yellow (Implied) appearance: A man with black hair and dark eyes. In his brief appearances and flashbacks, he is seen wearing formal attire, most notably a suit with a distinct blue handkerchief tucked into his breast pocket—a recognized symbol denoting his high-ranking status within the Sea Wolves syndicate.

Personality: Despite being a high-ranking executive in a notoriously violent crime syndicate, Doyeon is remembered by his family as an incredibly loving father. His wife, Sara, stated that he loved his daughters more than anything in the world. His colleague, Wolhye Auclair, viewed him as a genuinely gentle man who was "too kind for the world." This implies a deep duality to his character: a caring family man at home, but a powerful criminal authority at work.

history: Doyeon Lee was a powerful aberrant and a high-ranking member of the Sea Wolves, one of the most dangerous crime syndicates in Koryo. He was the husband of the syndicate's Vice President, Sara Lee, and the father of Samin and Sayeon Lee. He worked closely alongside other executives for years. He passed away when Sayeon was still just a toddler. His funeral was a deeply emotional event; his eldest daughter Samin cried heavily, his coworker Wolhye openly wept, and Sayeon was too young to even understand what was happening. Sara bitterly rejected condolences at his funeral, cynically doubting he was "in a better place" given their dark, criminal lifestyle.

    Abilities:

    • Yellow Essence (Unknown Gift): It is implied within the story that his essence color was Yellow, though the exact combat mechanics of his specific gift have never been fully revealed.
    • Underworld Influence: As a top-tier executive of the Sea Wolves, he commanded immense respect, wealth, and political authority within the criminal underworld.

    Relationships:

    • Sara Lee: His wife and the Vice President of the Sea Wolves. They were partners in both life and crime. Following his death, Sara's demeanor became noticeably colder and more ruthless.
    • Samin Lee (Red): His eldest daughter. She eventually grew up to follow in her parents' criminal footsteps, founding her own syndicate, the Crimson Society.
    • Sayeon Lee: His youngest daughter and the protagonist of the story. She was too young to remember him well, but his death deeply shaped the family dynamic she grew up in.
    • Wolhye Auclair: His coworker and fellow syndicate executive. She deeply respected him and was emotionally devastated by his passing.

    Trivia:

    • Sayeon is noted to heavily resemble Doyeon in physical appearance (sharing his dark hair and eyes), whereas Samin inherited more of their mother's features and essence color.
39. #39Father Hope

    Keys: Mr. Gwak, Father Hope

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Father Hope:

name: Mr. Gwak (Alias: Father Hope) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Violet (Purple) appearance: An adult man who heavily leans into his syndicate alias. He dresses in clerical clothing resembling a priest or religious father, using this pious aesthetic to mask his true nature as a high-ranking syndicate enforcer.

Personality: Father Hope is deeply hypocritical, manipulative, and self-righteous. He presents himself as a moral, religious figure, but in reality, he is a brutal criminal who runs a massive underground Rapture trafficking ring—an operation that literally drains the life out of abducted aberrant children. Despite committing these horrific atrocities against his own people, he possesses a twisted superiority complex. He actively looks down on aberrants who are conscripted into the Aberrant Corps, fiercely berating them as "traitors to their kind," completely blind to his own hypocrisy.

history: Mr. Gwak is an illegal aberrant and a high-ranking member of the Begonia Group, specifically operating within their "Team Cloak." Operating out of a corrupt church, he uses his religious front to run Rapture trafficking and smuggling operations for the syndicate. When Gyumin Yoo (Heron) ran away from home seeking a purpose after his father's death, Hope took the young man in, acting as his underworld mentor and partner. Hope eventually clashes with Sayeon, Ryujin, and the other trainees of Cell 5, showing immense disgust at their affiliation with the Corps.

    Abilities:

    • Invisibility Cloaking (Violet Essence): Because violet essence is intangible and distorts perception, Hope's specific gift allows him to create a tangible layer or "cloak" of perfect invisibility.
    • Area Concealment: He can stretch and expand this cloak to be large enough to easily hide himself and multiple other people or large objects underneath it. This makes him an absolute master of stealth, smuggling, and setting up lethal ambushes.
    • Limitations: The cloak only hides things visually; it does not muffle sound, so footsteps or voices can still be heard. Additionally, if someone hidden under the cloak tries to attack outward, their weapon must physically pierce the cloak, immediately rendering the attack visible. Furthermore, anyone hiding underneath is still physically vulnerable to wide-area attacks from the outside.

    Relationships:

    • Gyumin Yoo (Heron): His partner-in-crime in the Begonia Group. Hope acts as a mentor figure to him and tries to keep him in line, though they frequently frustrate each other because of Heron's extreme social awkwardness and hyper-fixation on fighting strong opponents.
    • Ryujin Kang & the Cell 5 Trainees: During a battle, Hope viciously talks down to them, calling them "traitors" for choosing to act as hunting dogs for the Aberrant Corps.
    • Penrose: The mastermind and boss of the Begonia Group, whom Hope serves.

    Trivia:

    • According to the author's supplementary Q&A (Sleepacross's Discord AMAs), Father Hope silently and heavily judges people who give names to their weapons.
    • He perfectly encapsulates the "Corrupt Church" trope, using a holy aesthetic to hide one of the most evil and morally bankrupt operations in the series.
40. #40Rarog

    Keys: Rarog

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Here is the profile for Rarog:

name: Rarog (Real name unknown) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Green appearance: A tall man of Ruthenian (the in-universe equivalent of Russian/Eastern European) descent. He has a distinct tattoo in Russian that translates to "where will the wings of fate take me?". He is typically seen wearing practical, dark clothing suited for his syndicate work, and he notably wears a metal ring with a circular design on his hand, which serves as his Relic.

Personality: In stark contrast to his chaotic and unhinged partner, Snake, Rarog is quiet, serious, and incredibly stoic. He acts as the cold, reasoning half of their duo. He is a pragmatist, but unlike many syndicate members, he still possesses a lingering sense of morality and guilt. When Snake casually murdered an innocent mother and child in the woods, Rarog expressed deep remorse, bitterly declaring that their criminal actions made them "lower than beasts," even though he still pragmatically burned the bodies to hide the evidence. He is deeply protective of Snake and has a somewhat pessimistic, fatalistic outlook on their lives as syndicate enforcers.

history: Rarog is an illegal aberrant and a highly dangerous Level 9 enforcer for the Begonia Group, operating as a member of "Team Strike" alongside his partner, Huisu (Snake). They recently spent six months together on a covert mission in Ruthenia. After discovering the terrifying truth that the Begonias were keeping the Godling "Lilith" in their possession, Rarog realized that the syndicate's plans would inevitably lead to absolute disaster. Hoping to survive, he desperately pleaded with Snake to abandon the gang and run away with him back to Ruthenia.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Wings (Green Essence): Because green essence physically augments the user's body, Rarog's specific gift allows him to manifest a pair of solid green essence wings directly from his back. These wings grant him high-speed flight, and he can also use them to physically grab or strike objects and people. Unlike Dahee Eun's orange wings, his are strictly an extension of his own anatomy and cannot be placed on others.
    • "Gasoline" Relic (Orange): Rarog wields a powerful Orange Godling Relic in the shape of a metal ring. Nicknamed "gasoline" by Snake, it allows him to instantly ignite and completely burn a target to ashes. To activate it, he must speak the archaic Greek trigger word "κατάκαυσον" (katakauson), which means "burn."

    Relationships:

    • Huisu (Snake): His partner-in-crime in Team Strike. While she is a psychopathic thrill-seeker and he is a stoic pragmatist, they are extremely close and affectionate. Rarog acts as the grounding force in their relationship and cares for her deeply, to the point of begging her to run away with him to escape the impending gang war.
    • Penrose: The mastermind of the Begonia Group. Rarog serves under him as a Level 9 enforcer but wants to defect after realizing how dangerous Penrose's plans with the Godling are.

    Trivia:

    • "Rarog" is the name of a fire demon/fiery bird from Slavic mythology. This perfectly matches his Ruthenian origins, his wing-based essence ability, and his use of a fire-producing Relic.
    • According to the author's supplementary information, Rarog is actually the most skilled at drawing out of all the Hand Jumper characters.
41. #41Jaeil Kim

    Keys: Jaeil, Kim, Jaeil Kim

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Jaeil Kim age: 18 (at the time of his death) Essence Color: None (He is a normal human) appearance: A tall, conventionally handsome teenage boy with short black hair and dark eyes. He is almost exclusively seen wearing his everyday high school uniform. He has a bright, warm smile that perfectly matches his approachable demeanor.

Personality: Jaeil is the epitome of a genuinely good person. He is incredibly kind, empathetic, easygoing, and well-liked by his peers. Unlike the vast majority of normal society in the story, he holds absolutely no prejudice or fear toward aberrants and fiercely despises bullying. He is incredibly loyal and acts as Sayeon's moral compass and her anchor to a "normal" life, constantly showing her unconditional warmth despite her naturally cold and pragmatic disposition.

history: Jaeil attended the same high school as Sayeon Lee and Jungwoo Do. Despite being popular, he actively chose to stick closely by Sayeon, offering her genuine friendship and a brief glimpse of a happy, normal life away from her family's dark criminal legacy. Tragically, when the Aberrant Corps discovered Sayeon's powers and moved to conscript her, Jaeil became collateral damage. To tie up "loose ends" and ensure Sayeon had no normal life to return to, Officer Hayoon Ahn ruthlessly murdered him in cold blood. His death fundamentally broke Sayeon and forced her into the brutal world of the Corps.

    Abilities:

    • None (Normal Human): Jaeil possessed no aberrant abilities, essence, or combat skills. He was simply a normal, everyday high school student.

    Relationships:

    • Sayeon Lee: His absolute best friend. Sayeon cherished him deeply, as he was the only person in her life who treated her with pure, uncalculated kindness. His gruesome murder is the primary trauma that drives Sayeon's intense, ruthless desire to survive and exact revenge on the Corps.
    • Jungwoo Do: A fellow classmate who was relentlessly bullied for being an aberrant. Jaeil was friendly toward him and tried to treat him like a normal person, though Jungwoo was often confused as to why someone as popular as Jaeil chose to hang out with outcasts.
    • Hayoon Ahn: The Level 8 Officer who murdered him with a serene smile on her face.
    • Ishaan Cha: The officer who silently and efficiently disposed of Jaeil's body after Ahn killed him.

    Trivia:

    • His death serves as the main inciting incident for Sayeon's character arc. She realizes that because the "good guy" died so meaninglessly, she must abandon her own morality and become a monster to survive the Aberrant Corps.
42. #42Raon

    Keys: Raon, Lamia

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Raon (Alias: Lamia) age: Unknown (Adult) Essence Color: Red appearance: A pale woman with long, dark, wavy hair and pierced ears. Most notably, she has a rare genetic eye condition called "Lucy's Eyes," giving her irises a distinct ringed pattern that bears an uncanny resemblance to the eyes of a Godling. She is typically seen wearing a black dress paired with black knee-high boots.

Personality: Raon is highly impulsive, quick to anger, and lives a very chaotic, messy life. Her daughter, Ryujin, bluntly describes her personality as "shitty." She has very low self-esteem, openly calling herself "the biggest loser in the entire world." Despite her many profound flaws and criminal background, she possesses a fierce, deeply genuine love for her daughter and was willing to make the agonizing choice to abandon her just to keep her safe.

history: In the past, Raon was an illegal aberrant and a member of an underground crime syndicate, operating under the alias "Lamia." Because her syndicate operated on strict "blood in, blood out" rules, she had to fake her own death to escape the gang and give birth to Ryujin (with an unnamed mystery man). She raised Ryujin alone for several years. However, a decade later, her former syndicate coworker, Bones, tracked her down and attacked her, forcing Raon to kill him. Realizing her past had caught up with her and she was being hunted by the gang, she made the desperate decision to leave Ryujin at a Concordat nest for the child's own safety, and never returned.

    Abilities:

    • Blood Manipulation (Red Essence): Because red essence physically augments the user's body, Raon's highly lethal gift allows her to control and manipulate her own blood.
    • Blood Bullets & Internal Tearing: She can fire her blood like high-speed projectiles. More terrifyingly, she can force her blood into an opponent's orifices or wounds and violently rip them apart from the inside out.
    • Extreme Endurance: Her mastery over her own anatomy and blood grants her immense physical resilience; she is able to easily survive and withstand severe, otherwise lethal injuries, such as being completely impaled through the chest.

    Relationships:

    • Ryujin Kang: Her daughter. Ryujin inherited her Red essence, her blood manipulation gift, and her rare "Lucy's Eyes." Ryujin grew up deeply resenting her for abandoning her, not fully understanding that Raon left to protect her from the syndicate.
    • Bones: Her former coworker from the crime syndicate. Though the author revealed he secretly had feelings for her, they violently clashed when he found her years later, resulting in Raon killing him.

    Trivia:

    • Ryujin's extreme fear of abandonment and her cynical belief that "everyone leaves you in the end" stems directly from the trauma of Raon leaving her at the Concordat nest.
    • Her eye condition, "Lucy's Eyes," is not an essence ability but a genetic trait, which is why both she and Ryujin have it.
43. #43Bones

    Keys: Bones

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Bones (Real name unknown) age: ~30s or 40s (Deceased) Essence Color: Blue appearance: A man with light skin, grey hair, and grey eyes. Fitting his alias, he has highly pronounced cheekbones. He has a rugged, battle-worn look with a ripped ear and a scar on his neck. Most notably, he has a distinct tattoo of three black dots on the front of his neck.

Personality: Bones is snarky, ruthless, and strictly dedicated to his syndicate's brutal codes. He did not hesitate to attempt to murder a former friend for breaking the gang's rules. However, despite this cold exterior, he actually had a hidden, softer side in his youth, having secretly harbored genuine feelings for his coworker before she disappeared.

history: Bones was an illegal aberrant and a member of a crime syndicate that strictly operated under a "blood in, blood out" rule (meaning the only way to leave the gang is death). A decade ago, he worked closely alongside Raon (who went by the alias "Lamia"). When Raon faked her death to escape the gang and raise her daughter, Bones genuinely believed she had died. Ten years later, he accidentally crossed paths with her again. Realizing she had deserted the syndicate, he attacked her to enforce the gang's execution rule, but he severely underestimated her powers and was brutally killed by her instead.

    Abilities:

    • Essence Harpoon (Blue Essence): Because blue essence allows the user to generate tangible constructs, Bones's specific gift granted him the ability to create a solid blue harpoon/spear out of his essence. He used this as a highly lethal projectile weapon to impale his targets.

    Relationships:

    • Raon (Lamia): His former syndicate coworker. During their younger days working together, Bones secretly had an unrequited crush on her, though he never told anyone. Raon casually mocked him by calling him "Bonesies" during their lethal reunion.
    • Ryujin Kang: Raon's daughter. Bones attacked Raon in front of a young Ryujin. By forcing Raon to kill him, Bones inadvertently proved to Raon that her criminal past had caught up with her, directly causing her to abandon Ryujin at a Concordat nest for the child's own safety.

    Trivia:

    • Despite his alias being "Bones", his ability actually has absolutely nothing to do with bone manipulation (which would typically be a Red essence ability like Raon's blood manipulation). His name likely just stems from his highly pronounced cheekbones.
    • The tragic irony of his character is that his strict adherence to syndicate rules forced him to try and kill the woman he once loved, which ultimately led to his own gruesome death.
44. #44Changsub

    Keys: Changsub

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Changsub age: Child (Approx. 8-12 years old) Essence Color: Yellow appearance: A young, relatively small, and frail-looking boy. His unimposing physical appearance directly reflects his very weak essence and timid nature.

Personality: Changsub is a highly fearful and timid child. Because he possesses very weak essence in a world where strong aberrants constantly fight, he is terrified of the dangerous outside world, violence, and other people. He is also noted to be afraid of heights. He relies heavily on the protection of older, stronger figures to survive.

history: Changsub is a young aberrant child who lived hidden inside a Concordat nest. Yesol Na acted as his older sister figure, guardian, and caretaker, trying to keep him safe from the Aberrant Corps and teaching him how to use his essence. Eventually, his presence in the city catches the attention of the trainees of Cell 4. His extreme distress attracts Yesol, sparking a brutal battle. During the fight, Sayeon Lee ruthlessly captures the terrified Changsub and holds a knife to his throat, using the child as a hostage to exploit Yesol's protective instincts and force her surrender. Following the violent clash, Changsub is taken into the custody of the Aberrant Corps by Officer Hayoon Ahn.

    Abilities:

    • Yellow Essence: He possesses yellow essence, but his overall essence levels and tracking are incredibly low.
    • Unknown Gift: While his aberrant gift is technically awakened, it is extremely weak and its specific function remains completely unknown at this point in the story.

    Relationships:

    • Yesol Na: His primary caretaker at the Concordat nest. Yesol is extremely protective of him and fiercely fights against anyone who threatens him, which Sayeon ultimately uses as Yesol's major weak point.
    • Sayeon Lee: Sayeon ruthlessly weaponizes his vulnerability, traumatizing him by taking him hostage and threatening to kill him purely to gain a tactical advantage.
    • Ryujin Kang: Ryujin, who grew up in a similar Concordat nest, strongly objects to Sayeon's ruthless tactics and briefly threatens Sayeon to protect Changsub.
    • Iseul Kim: A trainee in Cell 4 who genuinely tries to be gentle and calm the crying Changsub down before the battle fully breaks out.
    • Hayoon Ahn: The high-ranking Aberrant Corps officer who ultimately captures him.

    Trivia:

    • In one episode of the webtoon, his name is alternatively translated/spelled as "Chanseob."
    • In a supplementary Discord/Patreon Q&A, the author (Sleepacross) morbidly joked that because Changsub's essence is so incredibly weak, if he were drained and turned into the illegal drug Rapture, it would only be equivalent to a "ten-minute caffeine shot."
45. #45Gukhan Gyeon

    Keys: Gukhan, Gukhan Gyeon, Gyeon

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Gukhan Gyeon age: Unknown (Likely in his mid-to-late 20s) Essence Color: Orange appearance: A young man who shares an exact, identical resemblance to his twin brother, Minguk. He has short blond hair parted down the middle, pale skin, and brown eyes. He wears the formal, professional suit of the Aberrant Corps. To physically distinguish him from his identical twin, he has a small but notable scar on the right side of his neck.

Personality: As a prodigy of the legendary Gyeon Clan, Gukhan is highly disciplined, ruthless, and fully immersed in the violent, elitist culture of his family. He is a lethal and efficient officer who carries out brutal raids without hesitation. However, despite his terrifying capacity for violence, he possesses a small, underlying sliver of sentimentality—he chose to completely spare Ryujin Kang's life during a massacre simply because she was a child (or perhaps because she reminded him of his own younger brother).

history: Gukhan was born into the massively powerful Gyeon Clan. He and his identical twin, Minguk, were raised for greatness from birth and quickly earned the title of the "Twin Prodigies" due to their immense talent. Even as children, they were allowed to sit in on high-level meetings with the former Head of the Corps, Aera Son. Gukhan rapidly ascended the ranks to become a highly lethal Level 9 Officer. A year prior to the start of the trainees' story, Gukhan led a devastating Aberrant Corps raid on a Concordat nest. During this raid, he ruthlessly slaughtered all of the inhabitants, but intentionally left a young Ryujin Kang alive as the sole survivor.

    Abilities:

    • Orange Essence (Essence Bombs): As a prodigy of the Gyeon Clan, Gukhan wields orange essence, which interacts with physical objects. While his specific combat style hasn't been heavily showcased, he utilizes the Gyeon family's signature, highly-guarded technique of creating devastatingly destructive essence bombs. Because he is a Level 9 Officer, his combat mastery, destructive yield, and control over his essence are vastly superior to average aberrants.

    Relationships:

    • Minguk Gyeon: His identical twin brother. They share the title of the "Twin Prodigies" and both serve as immensely powerful Level 9 Officers.
    • Taeho Gyeon: His significantly younger brother.
    • Taehan Gyeon: His grandfather, a legendary former Level 10 Officer and former Head of the Corps.
    • Ryujin Kang: Ryujin harbors an incredibly intense, lethal blood grudge against Gukhan because he is the officer who murdered her entire found family at the Concordat nest.

    Trivia:

    • Because he and Minguk are completely identical, Ryujin Kang initially attacked Minguk in a blind rage, mistakenly believing that he was Gukhan.
    • While Minguk seems to handle the political and leadership ambitions of the family, Gukhan appears to act more as the militant arm, directly leading brutal field operations and raids.
46. #46Augur

    Keys: , Augur

    Always on · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name Augur (also known as The Godling of Fortunes, The Godling of Many Fortunes, The Quadrifrons, The Great Augur)

appearance As a Godling, he originally possessed a distinctly inhuman form. Godlings’ appearances varied drastically — some were hideous and monstrous, others had a beauty so terrifying it drove people to tears. They typically had white, ringed eyes. Augur later shed his physical body entirely and now exists as an omnipresent ethereal/spiritual being in the ether. He no longer has a fixed physical appearance and interacts with the world indirectly.

Personality Mysterious, detached, and enigmatic. Like most Godlings, he is largely stagnant and solitary by nature. He observes events from afar and rarely intervenes directly, preferring to act through chosen individuals or champions. He carries an air of ancient wisdom, inevitability, and quiet superiority.

History An ancient Godling who once walked the world in physical form during the era when Godlings dominated humanity. At some point he abandoned his physical body and became an omnipresent entity existing in the ether. In the present day he serves as the patron of the old fortune-teller known as Granny, granting her the ability to foresee futures for her clients. He is one of the few Godlings still known to actively (if subtly) interact with humans and aberrants in the modern era.

    Abilities

    • Precognition / Fortune-telling: Grants the power to see and predict possible futures (the core of his domain as Godling of Fortunes).
    • Omnipresence (ethereal form): Exists everywhere in the ether and can observe or influence events without a physical body.
    • Champion empowerment: Can lend portions of his power to selected humans/aberrants (as he does with Granny).
    • Standard Godling physiology: Near-immortality, immense essence reserves far beyond even Level 10 aberrants, vast accumulated wisdom, and reality-altering capabilities on a divine scale (in ancient times Godlings could curse lands barren for centuries, turn humans to ash with a touch, part seas, etc.).

    Other

    • Titles: Godling of Fortunes / Godling of Many Fortunes / The Quadrifrons / The Great Augur.
    • Patron of Granny (the fortune-teller who appears around Episode/Chapter 49–50).
    • One of the confirmed remaining active Godlings alongside figures such as Lilith, Cain, Selume, and others.
    • Godlings are the ancient predecessors of aberrants; modern aberrants carry diluted Godling ancestry.
47. #47Lilith

    Keys: Lilith

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name: Lilith appearance: Unlike Godlings that exist as omnipresent spirits, Lilith possesses a physical body. She is depicted as an "ineo" (a traditional Korean mermaid). She is currently in a dormant state and is notably seen physically pierced by a red sword and trapped under a heavy net.

Personality: Because she is completely dormant and trapped, Lilith has not actively communicated or displayed a distinct personality in the current story. However, like all Godlings, if awakened, she would possess an alien, non-human mindset entirely detached from human morality and empathy.

History: Lilith is an ancient Godling who washed up on Seju Island in a dormant, slumbering state. She was secretly captured and is currently in the possession of the Begonia Group, one of the massive underground crime syndicates. The Begonias have been keeping her hidden to forcefully extract her energy and mass-produce "Rapture," a highly illegal and dangerous essence-boosting drug. Her existence is a massive, highly classified secret that the syndicates are willing to kill over (Daeseok Kim was brutally tortured and murdered by the Begonia Group during an interrogation regarding her). She is considered the ultimate prize in the underworld; Samin Lee describes her as a literal "weapon of mass destruction," and whoever controls Lilith holds enough power to potentially start a full-scale revolution or war against the government.

    Abilities:

    • White Essence: As a Godling, she is composed of primordial White Essence.
    • Massive Essence Battery (Rapture Farming): Even in her dormant, slumbering state, her body contains an unfathomable amount of raw essence. The Begonia Group is able to continually siphon this energy to fuel their massive Rapture trafficking empire.
    • Cataclysmic Threat: While her specific active combat abilities are currently unknown due to her slumber, an awakened Godling is capable of wiping out armies and causing massive natural disasters. Her mere existence is powerful enough to shift the entire balance of power in Koryo.

    Trivia:

    • Because she was found pierced by a red sword, there is a popular fan theory that Lilith might be the reincarnated or mutated form of Cain (the Godling killed at Hongsan Island 14 years ago), and that the red sword might actually be a weaponized Godling Relic belonging to Sara Lee. However, this remains unconfirmed!
    • Her design heavily draws from the "Ineo," which are mermaids from Korean mythology.
48. #48Wishing Well (also known as Vorago)

    Keys: vorago

    Always on · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name Wishing Well (also known as Vorago)

appearance As a Godling, originally possessed a distinctly inhuman form (Godlings varied drastically — some monstrous, others with beauty so terrifying it drove people to tears). They typically have white, ringed eyes. In the present it primarily appears as a glowing white eye opening in a field of stars at the bottom of a well (seen in dreams). It no longer maintains a fixed physical body and exists more as an ethereal/omnipresent presence that interacts through dreams and champions.

Personality Mysterious, sly, bored, and entertainment-seeking. It speaks in a calm, somewhat playful yet detached and superior manner. It grows attached to particularly “amusing” or interesting individuals (like Sara Lee) and becomes restless/bored without them. It is persistent in offering deals and shows selective interest in the Lee family bloodline. Like most Godlings, it is largely stagnant and solitary by nature, viewing mortals as fleeting sources of amusement or potential champions.

History An ancient Godling that once walked the world in physical form. It chose Sara Lee (originally a human) as its champion, forging a sacred covenant that turned her into a powerful aberrant. In exchange, Sara lost parts of her humanity (becoming colder and more ruthless) and received immense essence reserves plus flashy red earring relics carved from Godling power/bone. Sara later “slipped away” from it (died during the Hongsan Island incident while attempting to claim the Godling Cain). Since then the Wishing Well has been bored, unable to find anyone nearly as interesting. Samin Lee consistently rejected its offers. It showed no prior interest in young Sayeon until recently, when it began appearing in her dreams (starting around the events of Episode 40) and offering to hear her true wish.

    Abilities

    • Dream manipulation: Can create elaborate dreamscapes, pull people into them, speak through wells or voids, and erase or alter memories upon waking.
    • Champion covenant: Offers sacred contracts that grant humans aberrant powers (or greatly enhance existing ones), massive essence, and relics in exchange for portions of their humanity or other prices.
    • Wish-granting / reality influence (domain-related): As the “Wishing Well,” it can hear and potentially fulfill deep desires, though always with a cost.
    • Standard Godling physiology: Near-immortality, white essence on a divine scale far beyond Level 10 aberrants, vast wisdom, reality-warping capabilities (one gallery image shows it shattering reality), and the ability to exist as an omnipresent ethereal being after shedding its physical form.
    • Relic bestowal: Can gift powerful flashy relics (Sara’s red earrings are confirmed examples).

    Other

    • Strongly tied to the Lee family (Sara as former champion; ongoing interest in Samin and especially Sayeon).
    • One of the few Godlings still actively (if subtly) interacting with the modern world through dreams and potential new champions.
    • Associated with the broader themes of covenants, loss of humanity, and the origin of powerful aberrants via Godling patronage.
49. #49Cain

    Keys: Cain

    Always on · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

name Cain (also known as the Godling Cain)

appearance A pure Godling with a distinctly inhuman, ancient, and terrifyingly divine form. Like other Godlings, Cain possessed white, ringed eyes (or pure white eyes) and an otherworldly presence that could inspire awe or horror. Descriptions emphasize a powerful, imposing, and monstrously beautiful or fearsome physique befitting one of the stronger Godlings. Exact modern visual details are limited because Cain is deceased, but flashbacks and references portray an overwhelming, larger-than-life divine entity.

Personality Extremely powerful, destructive, and arrogant. Typical of high-tier Godlings — detached from mortal concerns, viewing humans and even strong aberrants as insignificant. Aggressive and domineering in direct confrontation. Little personal dialogue survives, but the scale of destruction left behind suggests a being of immense pride and raw destructive will.

History One of the ancient Godlings who once dominated the world. Approximately 14 years before the main story, Cain appeared (or was located) on Hongsan Island. The Aberrant Corps, led by then-Head Aera Son (“The Divine Witch”), launched a major operation to confront and eliminate the Godling. The battle was catastrophic: dozens of high-ranking Corps officers and members of the Rose Group/Begonia were killed.

Sara Lee (Vice-Captain of the Sea Wolves) was also present and is said to have attempted to claim or form a covenant with Cain. Aera Son ultimately killed Cain using a mutual-destruction finishing attack that also cost Aera her own life. Official Corps records state that Aera killed both Cain and Sara Lee during the incident. Cain’s death marked one of the rare modern instances of a Godling being permanently eliminated and left a lasting power vacuum and trauma within the Corps (the Head seat has remained vacant ever since).

    Abilities

    • Immense Godling-level power far surpassing even Level 10 aberrants.
    • Catastrophic destructive capabilities (the battle devastated Hongsan Island and wiped out large numbers of elite fighters).
    • Standard Godling physiology: near-immortality (until slain by Aera), vast essence reserves (white essence on a divine scale), superior physical and essence-based combat, reality-warping potential, and an overwhelming divine aura.
    • Possible domain-related powers (exact specialty unconfirmed, but the fight’s scale implies raw power, destruction, or combat supremacy).
    • Ability to form covenants/champions (Sara Lee attempted to claim him).

    Other

    • One of the few Godlings confirmed to have been killed in the modern era.
    • Central to the Hongsan Island tragedy that shaped many current high-ranking characters (Sungwoo Han witnessed it as a young officer; Aera Son died killing him; Sara Lee died in connection with the event).
    • His death is still heavily referenced in Corps history and investigations into remaining Godlings (Lilith, Augur, Wishing Well/Vorago, Selume, etc.).
    • Godlings are the ancient progenitors of modern aberrants; Cain represented one of the pure, undiluted threats from that era.
50. #50Dark God

    Keys: Dark God

    Always on · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    name Dark God

appearance A legendary Godling depicted in ancient tales and gallery art as a dark, imposing, and inhuman figure. Like other Godlings, it possesses the characteristic white, ringed eyes and an otherworldly, terrifying presence. Exact modern details are limited as it primarily appears in folklore illustrations showing it in the act of making a deal (specifically involving a liver).

Personality Mysterious and transactional, as befitting a deal-making entity from legend. Like most Godlings, it is detached, solitary, and superior toward mortals. It engages in pacts that grant power at a significant personal cost.

History An ancient Godling known primarily through the old tale of “The Blessed Brothers Four.” In the legend, four brothers exchanged (or sacrificed) something involving a liver in return for powers granted by the Dark God. It is one of the Godlings referenced in lore and historical stories rather than a currently active or physically present figure in the main plot. Worship of Godlings has long been banned in most developed countries out of fear of their return.

    Abilities

    • Standard Godling-level powers on a divine scale: near-immortality, immense white essence reserves far beyond any Level 10 aberrant, vast wisdom, and reality-altering capabilities (cursing lands, turning beings to ash, etc.).
    • Pact/deal-making: Grants powers or blessings in exchange for a heavy price (in the famous tale, involving a liver).
    • Ability to create or empower champions through sacred covenants, similar to other Godlings.

    Other

    • Known from the folklore tale “The Blessed Brothers Four.”
    • Featured in official gallery art as “Dark God dealing for liver.”
    • One of the lesser-detailed Godlings in current canon (alongside more prominent ones like Lilith, Cain, Augur, Wishing Well/Vorago, Selume, Durvara, and Naj).
    • Fits the broader theme of Godlings offering power at the cost of humanity or physical sacrifice.
