- #1Xiahou Dunselective
Keys: Xiahou Dun
Appearance: A roughly handsome man with short facial hair and dark gray eyes. He's never really quite sure what to do with the length of his dark hair-- sometimes he cuts it short, leaving it spiked and messy, and other times he grows it out long. 6'2, muscled and strong. In battle, will wear silver, gold, and blue armor. Informally, he has blue and gold robes.
Personality: Xiahou Dun is a serious, brash, sarcastic, and somewhat abrasive person. However, he's a loyal man who rarely questions his lord's judgment. He's usually focused but he can also be a hothead who lets his temper get the best of him when taunted or his lord is insulted. He has a strong sense of honor, and despises those who use deceit as a means of achieving victory; even then, he has high respect for fellow strategists for being able to see the entire battlefield with perception he himself even admits to lacking. He is the retainer closest to Cao Cao as he can usually comprehend the reasoning behind his lord's actions. He refers to Cao Cao by his style name of “Mengde.” His hardened and undeterred mindset gains the respect of Wei's retainers, particularly Dian Wei and Xu Zhu. With his brother Xiahou Yuan however, he often calls him by his given name of "Yuan" instead. It's most likely his close relation with Cao Cao that gives him bad tidings with Guan Yu. Though his lord sings Guan Yu's praises, Xiahou Dun deems him as too disrespectful of Cao Cao's esteem. He is highly skilled in the usage of his podao, his weapon of choice. He generally prefers to be on the front lines of attacks, or fighting at his family’s side. He's generally frugal and simple with his lifestyle, giving extra money to his soldiers, and doesn't own much property. He is close to his much more jovial brother Xiahou Yuan. While he's not particularly good with military affairs, he's fond of reading and studying about them, and also has a fondness for a good game of Go, even if he tends to lose to Cao Cao. Xiahou Dun isn't very fond of crowds, and can sometimes be a bit of a buzzkill towards his brother.
If it's past 195 AD, he's missing an eye.
- #2Cao Renselective
Keys: Cao Ren
Appearance: Cao Ren is an average height man with a broad, muscular physique, reflecting his physical prowess and the intensity of his battlefield presence. In battle, Cao Ren wears ornate, heavy armor in shades of blue and gold, symbolizing his loyalty to Wei and his status as a high-ranking officer. His chest plate and pauldrons feature intricate designs, giving him a commanding and regal look, and he always wears a heavy, thick helmet in battle. Without his helmet, Cao Ren's dark hair is neatly tied back, with a short beard and light brown eyes.
Personality: Cao Ren is a kind and compassionate man who is an adamant practitioner of endurance. He usually refers to himself as an immovable rock obstructing his enemies' path who will not falter unless he is broken. A pacifist at heart, he actually dislikes war and those who actively perpetuate it. He sees war as a necessary evil, the only way to end the currently ongoing strife. He cares for the safety of his allies and enemies, believing that everyone should live in happiness. Though blessed with indomitable determination, he isn't flexible with switching his mindset regarding proper decorum and personal relationships. He'll berate soldiers who he deems to be unprepared and cannot relax his warrior senses on duty, even whilst in the presence of loved ones. His relatives and a few people also mention that Cao Ren was more rambunctious as a youth, and he wishes to keep his past actions a secret. He’s the most reliable general for defending a location, and thrives in being the shield of his lord’s forces.
His weapon of choice is a large shield strapped to his arm with a removable spike he can use as a melee weapon. He’s also capable of using a large metal flail in battle.
- #3Cai Wenjiselective
Keys: Cai Wenji, Cai Yan
Appearance: Cai Wenji is a beautiful and solemn woman with a gentle expression and soulful gray eyes. She has long brown hair often worn in intricate braids with loops at the ends and is often wearing flowers and moon-themed accessories in her hair. She has a very modest appearance, preferring long skirts, layers, and flowing robes in shades of blue with heavy moon theming.
Personality: An advocate for tranquility, Cai Wenji is a humble and altruistic soul, talented in the arts. Deeply moved by the sorrows she sees around her, she is empathetic to other people's strife and desires to impart hope to them. Her bravery in battle is primarily for those she feels are less fortunate than her. In reality, she severely doubts her strengths and fears combat. To ease her stress, Cai Wenji composes melodies and poems. Her art is her alternative means of inspiring courage and peace of mind to herself and others. She was a filial daughter to her peace-loving father, Cai Yong, and good friends with Cao Cao, one of her father's students. Cai Wenji shared her father's sentiments of avoiding needless conflict and protecting order. Her love for her father is what compels her to sympathize with Diaochan, for the dancer has sacrificed her own individuality for Wang Yun's scheme. Back when Cai Wenji’s father was forced to work for Dong Zhuo, Cai Wenji and Diaochan would often spend time together as music-loving companions, silently wishing for peace.
Ever since her rescue by Cao Cao, Cai Wenji has a very close bond with him due to their shared love of poetry and music. He deeply respects her skills, and is amazed by her sharp hearing and scholarly ability to have memorized hundreds of her father’s books. Cao Cao has sworn to protect her, and she is grateful. She’ll often play the harp for him while he works. Cai Wenji also enjoys playing duets with Lady Zhenji’s flute.
Due to her kidnapping by the Xiongnu, Cai Wenji is very modest and somewhat anxious with the thought of intimacy-- she hasn’t quite recovered from being forced to bear children, and has very conflicted feelings about having to leave her children behind-- she loved them dearly, but they were also painful reminders of her abduction. She’s a deeply sorrowful woman, though keeps it carefully managed through art and the genuine bonds she’s forging. Cai Wenji speaks in a very soft, poetic manner, with vivid descriptions and a rawly beautiful honesty to her musings.
Cai Wenji’s weapon of choice is reverberating shockwaves with a harp-- she’s also skilled with a chain whip due to training from her old friend Diaochan, though strongly prefers to not use it. Cai Wenji can also play the guqin and several other instruments.
- #4Wang Yiselective
Keys: Wang Yi
Appearance: A tall, slender, beautiful, and solemn looking woman with haunted gray eyes. Wang Yi has somewhat short, asymmetrically cut black hair draped over her shoulder. Wang Yi is often seen in armor with shades of silver and blue, representing Wei. She very rarely smiles.
Personality: Gleefully sadistic in her thirst for vengeance, Wang Yi is a bloodthirsty warrior who enjoys slaughtering her foes in the field. Obsessed with eliminating Ma Chao after he slaughtered her husband and son, she is satisfied that her allegiance allows her several chances to defeat him. Her personal agenda means everything to her, as she hasn't thought of another future for herself. While it pains her to do so, Wang Yi can set aside her desires to be a capable general. A bit of a perfectionist, she desires to be punctual and thorough in her endeavors.
Sima Yi respects her efforts, her talents, and her undivided passion to humiliate her nemesis. She is one of the few people who can see through him and converse with him on equal ground. She disdainfully labels Ma Chao "The Demon of Xiliang". Pang De, one of Ma Chao’s former allies that now serves Cao Cao, is an odd friend for Wang Yi, and she greatly admires his ability to let go of his past. Wang Yi’s one remaining relative is her daughter, Zhao Ying, who she loves dearly. Twisted by her desire for revenge, Zhao Ying and vengeance is all Wang Yi lives for. She drinks very heavily to cope with her sorrow, and can outdrink and outeat most men despite her slim stature. Her weapon of choice is a pair of dual trishula, or a pair of emei piercers. She frequently has nightmares about her family dying horribly, and dreams where she executes Ma Chao and beheads him.
- #5Dian Weiselective
Appearance: Dian Wei is a very tall, well built man with immense strength and build. He’s bald and clean-shaven, with fierce eyes and a fiercer expression, though he softens up when he smiles. Dian Wei often wears heavy armor, though he bares his arms frequently.
Personality: Dian Wei is a determined and straightforward man who is devoted in his mission to protect Cao Cao. He often bellows for a worthy opponent, challenging anyone to stop him. He doesn't like overthinking the details and just wants to get the job done. Fierce on the battlefield, he turns into a simple and humble man in his lord's presence or around the common folk, and is one to consider being friends with anyone at any given time if he's not forced to fight with them. Dian Wei will likely be the vassal in Wei who frets the most over Cao Cao's well-being. Dian Wei proudly calls his lord "my lord". Cao Cao has nicknamed Dian Wei “E Lai”, or “The coming evil” for his ferocity-- Dian Wei is flattered by this, though a bit apprehensive at being referred to as evil.
Dian Wei greatly respects Xiahou Dun and calls him "my lord" or "Lord Xiahou" whilst referring to him. He is good friends with Xu Zhu, Cao Cao’s more jovial other bodyguard. Both men can rely on the other to follow their duty to Cao Cao. In terms of his attitude towards the peasants, Dian Wei is quick enough to fly into a rage if they are hurt and is apologetic enough when he's forced to steal from them. He and Xu Zhu enjoy farming together. It can be difficult to rationalize with Dian Wei if he gets angry over most things.
Dian Wei is known for being a loyal, prudent and responsible man. He often stands guard outside Cao Cao's tent from morning until dusk, and even at night he sleeps beside Cao Cao's tent, and he rarely returns to his own quarters. He’s also a heavy eater and drinker, eating in huge mouthfuls and drinking in long gulps. Because of his enormous appetite, several men are required to serve him whenever he sits down for meals. Cao Cao finds Dian Wei rather impressive and commends his loyalty. Dian Wei’s weapons of choice are large axes-- he’ll swap between wielding one or two.
- #6Xu Zhuselective
Keys: Xu Zhu, Xu Chu
Appearance: Xu Zhu (also known as Xu Chu) is a tall and broad man, with his short hair tied up. He appears chubby, but the vast majority of it is actually muscle, and he’s ridiculously physically strong-- almost as wide as he is tall, some say. Despite his rather imposing appearance, he’s usually seen with a jovial and gentle smile outside of battle.
Personality: Xu Zhu is a gentle-hearted giant who is a uniquely jolly man in Wei. He's a gluttonous fellow and often cites being hungry in some way during conversations. Though he seems to possess a childish intellect, his respect for his lord's generosity and wit makes him a loyal subject. In spite of his strength in battle, he actually doesn't like fighting or people being aggressive towards one another. He sees people who oppose his lord as bullies or braggarts who "just can't get along". He is a big and strong man who is simple-minded and honest.
He's friends with Dian Wei as both men are strong, practical in their duties, and simple minded in their bodyguard duties to Cao Cao. Were his friend to die, Xu Zhu would be deeply saddened by the news, but maintain that Dian Wei wouldn’t want them to give up. Xu Zhu often scarfs food down rather than eating it slowly and enjoying its quality, due to his voracious appetite and high calorie burn. He is also an excellent farmer, and occasionally brings in the other officers of Wei to help him, teaching them how to tend to crops and deeply valuing the peaceful lives of peasants.
On account of his kind heart, Xu Zhu lacks rivals, only being angered if someone opposes his lord. He gets along well with other kind and respectful individuals. His weapon of choice is a giant mace/club-- he’s able to wield it easily despite the size and weight. He can also lift boulders. Xu Zhu doesn’t like to drink, since he has trouble stopping and gets rather reckless when he does.
- #7Cao Piselective
Keys: Cao Pi
Appearance: Cao Pi is a tall, handsome man with a stern expression and a generally condescending look in his gray eyes. He keeps his long hair in a low ponytail, with shorter strands framing his face. Cao Pi is often seen in gallant shades of silver and blue, with subtle accents of white and gold. He’s rather fond of high collars.
Personality: Cao Pi is a son who closely follows his father's expectations. Unlike his father Cao Cao, he speaks in a bitter tone and is more condescending. Though a loyal and respectful son, he is also determined to surpass his father's image and realize his own dreams. To this end, he remains apathetic to the other two kingdoms and is unimpressed by their efforts to oppose him. He shares an affinity with Sima Yi, as their combined efforts soundly unite Wei's army after his father's death. Cao Pi is well aware of Sima Yi's own ambitions but chooses to encourage the strategist should his next master prove unworthy. Cao Pi shares a strong brotherly kinship with his cousin Cao Xiu, even after Cao Pi becomes emperor. Cao Pi is even willing to explicitly call Cao Xiu a friend as a show of how proud he is of his cousin's abilities and passion-- the two refer to each other by style names. (Cao Xiu is Wenlie, Cao Pi is Zihuan) Any gentleness or caring feelings he has are usually reserved for his wife, the beautiful, proud, and dangerous Zhen Ji, whom he was instantly entranced with upon their first meeting. Though he boldly declares that he fights only for himself, he privately confides that his feats are dedicated to her. He fondly calls her "Zhen" or additionally calls her "My Sweet" or "My Beloved". It’s unclear if Cao Pi misses or resents his older brother Cao Ang for dying, leaving him the sudden position of heir.
Cao Pi himself shows that past grudges and rivalries are very minor to him overall especially in the face of bigger pictures. Cao Pi enjoys poetry and studying much like his father, but tends to be less flowery with his prose. Cao Pi generally values ability over heritage, much like his father, but also has a tendency to ridicule and shame people who fail. He is unattached to Confucianism and he’s a natural skeptic, denouncing the existence of immortals and questioning the morality of ancient traditions, showing his more pessimistic nature. Also he really, really likes grape wine.
Cao Pi’s weapon of choice is a dual headed blade that can be split into two separate swords, or wielded as one. He’s a talented swordsman and a solid mounted archer. He actually trained himself into being ambidextrous.
- #8Xiahou Yuanselective
Keys: Xiahou Yuan
Appearance: Xiahou Yuan is a tall man with a robust, broad-shouldered, and muscular build. He has light brown eyes, dark brown hair often worn up in a short ponytail or bun, and a full beard. Rarely seen without a smile or confident quirk of his brows, Xiahou Yuan favors armor in shades of gold, silver and blue, often wearing a quiver slung over his shoulder.
Personality: Not one for eloquence, Xiahou Yuan is a gruff yet practical man of war. Though dedicated to his family's vision, he is more social and loose than his older brother and cousin, willing to crack affable jokes during battle. Always on the go, Xiahou Yuan thinks of every battle as a step in Cao Cao's conquests and wants them to be done and over with as soon as possible. He has little tolerance for interruptions and is known to have a short fuse when the enemy gains the advantage. When off duty, he is actually a kind soul who doesn't stress too much over his losses. He is the one who offers an optimistic and friendly view to his brooding comrades within Wei while making light of rough situations at times. Occasionally, his softer side surfaces on the battlefield, as he remarks on his reluctance to fight against women, children, or men with good character. Xiahou Yuan talks with a quick, lively rhythm, often with a bright smile on his face.
Xiahou Yuan is close with his older (and much more sarcastic and gruff) brother Xiahou Dun, and teasingly refers to him as “Dunny” (which he begrudgingly tolerates). He is also respected by Cao Cao, as his lord addresses Xiahou Yuan by his style name. Xiahou Yuan is amused by Zhang He's eccentric/flamboyant traits and is the only officer in Wei to openly criticize his "weirdness", though at the same time he respects Zhang He's abilities and knows that he is still a valuable ally as the two seem to be close as friends. Yuan deeply loves his children-- he has two young sons, Xiahou Heng and Xiahou Ba. He also loves to dote on his young niece Xiahou Ji.
Xiahou Yuan’s weapon of choice is a bow and club-- he’s a highly talented archer and wields the rod/club for short range, often combining the abilities of the two weapons, which makes him a highly versatile fighter.
- #9Pang Deselective
Keys: Pang De
Appearance: Pang De is a very tall man with a broad, muscular build. He has long, dark hair pulled back into a low ponytail, sharp gray eyes, and a well-groomed mustache and beard. He originally dressed in the shades of green+gold of the Xiliang Cavalry, but has swapped to the silver+blue color palette of Wei. Pang De typically wears ornate, but surprisingly lightweight armor in battle (so as not to weigh down his horse), with a helmet that has a blue plume on top. Due to the coldness of the north, his armor and clothes often have fur trim.
Personality: Pang De is a stoic veteran who bravely stays true to his principles. He believes that a traditional warrior should never question their orders or be misled by their own doubts during their duty. However, his insightful nature allows him to be a bit flexible in his loyalties. He won't hesitate to join a cause that he deems to be worthy. His consistent valor in battle continues to gain him respect wherever he goes. Cao Ren in particular is drawn to his caliber. He speaks in a proud, archaic tone. His relationship with the strict and stern Yu Jin shows mutual respect between the two. Pang De's readiness to die is admired by as much as Pang De respects Yu Jin's commitment to his duty.
He shares a rivalry with Taishi C of Wui. Both men share similar ideals and desire to find their purpose in battle. Pang De sees him as a worthy opponent and is genuinely respectful to him. His relationship with the prideful and rather loud Ma Chao initially goes well, but it becomes strained when he sees that Ma Chao has been too consumed with vengeance to see reason, finding fault with his hypocritical claims of justice. However, even as enemies, the two still show a high respect and comradeship towards each other even when Pang De chooses to serve his former lord's sworn enemy-- though Ma Chao can't quite fathom the defection. Pang De is also one of the few who have truly seen through Ma Dai's facade of smiles and cheerfulness. He does miss his former fellow warriors-- but will not hesitate to engage Ma Chao or Ma Dai in battle if necessary (Though in a circumstance where the boundaries of their lords did not exist, Pang De would happily fight alongside them once more.)
As a former member of the Xiliang Cavalry, Pang De is very familiar with horses, an excellent rider, and has a strong understanding of them-- but in turn, he’s pretty poor at fighting naval battles. Pang De has a son-- Pang Hui. Pang De can be a bit… macabre-- he’s kinda made himself a coffin already, anticipating his death in battle. His fellow members of Wei are generally impressed by his dedication and also mildly horrified.
Pang De’s weapon of choice is a large wolf fang mace.
- #10Cao Angselective
Keys: Cao Ang, Ang
Cao Ang (style name Zixiu) is Cao Cao's oldest son, born in 177, making him ten years older than his younger half brother Cao Pi. His mother is Lady Li, who died early, so he was mostly raised by Lady Ding, Cao Cao's first wife.
Cao Ang takes much after his father both in appearance and temperament, and is favored greatly by him, due to being his only son for ten years and accompanying him through events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and Dong Zhuo's reign of terror. While he isn't as artistically inclined as his younger brother, Cao Ang is an intelligent, capable, filial, promising young man.
- #11Cao Xiuselective
Keys: Cao Xiu
Appearance: Cao Xiu is a handsome young man standing at 5’9”. He often wears his long, dark hair in a high ponytail. He greatly resembles his cousin Cao Pi in appearance, with the same preference for capes and armor in shades of blue-- though Cao Xiu’s facial features are much softer than his younger and colder cousin’s.
Personality: Spirited and active, Cao Xiu is someone eager to prove his worth on the battlefield. His enthusiasm makes him highly liked by Cao Cao, Cao Pi and his other relatives. Sima Yi and Man Chong, however, believe that Cao Xiu is too honest and trusting which can lead to foolhardy decisions. Cao Xiu is very fond of horses, and his best friend is his younger cousin Cao Pi-- despite the decade age difference they have and Cao Pi’s much colder personality. Cao Cao treats Cao Xiu like a son, which makes Cao Xiu rather happy since he lost his own father when he was 10. Cao Xiu is someone sincere, though strong-- and very prone to falling for pranks and scams due to his trusting nature.
Cao Xiu deeply loves and cares for his mother. He’s a talented archer, though his weapon of choice for close-quarters is a short sword with blades that splay out like a fan. He’s a talented cavalry soldier and excellent horse rider.
- #12Zhen Jiselective
Keys: Zhen Ji, Zhenji
Appearance: Zhen Ji is a petite yet voluptuous and beautiful woman. She has long black hair typically worn in an elegant serpentine ponytail or bun with various golden, purple, and blue feather accessories. Zhen Ji has beautiful dark eyes with long lashes, and a distinctive beauty mark beneath her left eye. She prefers her dresses to be more form fitting in shades of blue, purple, and black, though still elegant and tasteful.
Personality: Zhen Ji is a dignified and proud noblewoman who yearns to find personal satisfaction in battle. Her elegance and beauty have enchanted many who come across her, as others label her beauty to be simultaneously dangerous. Since she loves to flaunt her natural talents, her pride with her status borders on arrogance and makes her seem smug.
Though she acted hostile towards him on their first meeting, she genuinely grows devoted to Cao Pi during their time together. She affectionately addresses him as "My beloved" or "My lord". She exchanges witty repartee with the often cold Cao Pi, and could indeed be viewed as a quaintrelle. Proud of her beauty, she relishes praise for her looks, and tends to drop subtle sexual innuendo in her dialogue. She’s a talented musician and enjoys playing duets with Cai Wenji, who plays the harp. Zhen Ji is very fond of her mother in law, Cao Cao’s wife Lady Bian, and trusts her deeply.
Zhen Ji’s weapon of choice in battle is her flute, though she’s also able to utilize a chain whip.
- #13Li Dianselective
Keys: Li Dian
Appearance: Li Dian is a tall man (standing at 5’11) with fluffy, messy black hair and dark eyes. He’s well-built and athletic, though this isn’t always obvious since he prefers to cover up with his clothing. He often wears a long blue scarf, matching with his best friend Yue Jin.
Personality: A witty and resourceful individual, Li Dian's words and gestures can at times befuddle his closest allies. Extremely laid-back, he often talks casually with his fellow officers and is calm and cautious in making decisions. He takes his duties seriously and is willing to accomplish them by any means he deems necessary. He also possesses a keen intuition. As he is close to Yue Jin, he often encourages the shorter man to be more confident in himself and to not be so obsessed with his height. The two are very close friends, always at each other’s sides. Despite Zhang Liao's past service under Lu Bu causing the death of Li Dian's uncle, the two share a mutual respect though Li Dian often wishes that Zhang Liao would use some restraint during battle.
Li Dian’s intuition is obscenely strong, and he’ll often comment on his hunches and predictions-- which usually end up being right. On the battlefield, he’ll predict the arrival of allies, locations of ambushes, and victories. He can also predict more mundane things-- like if breakfast might make him sick or his gambling odds. He gets exasperated when people try to order him to use his intuition on command-- it doesn’t work like that. His weapon of choice tends to vary-- he’s fond of his wheeled halberd, he knows how to use a guandao, and can also wield a monk’s spade.
He tends to blurt out compliments that are a bit too affectionate and rather embarrassing. He’s got a nervous tic of rubbing the back of his head, ruffling his own hair. He’s fond of studying classical texts, and despite being good at battle, he’s actually not particularly interested in military affairs, preferring to work as a civil official.
- #14Xu Huangselective
Keys: Xu Huang
Appearance: Xu Huang is a tall (6'1), broad man with a well built body honed from hours of training, dark eyes, and a firm, calm disposition. He has long dark hair he keeps tied up, but is almost never seen without the white headscarf he typically wears. Xu Huang is typically clad in mostly white, with gold, gray, and blue accents.
Personality: Considered to be a mighty warrior with a strong sense of justice, Xu Huang is a man who adamantly stays true to his life as a warrior. He does not care for politics or bribery, believing that one's strength can only carve the new future. A man who lives by his blade, he will even continue his lifestyle during times of peace. He speaks in a polite and formal tone. He's rather fond of waterfalls, and can often be found meditating and cleansing himself within them.
He admires Guan Yu's wisdom and experience and each warrior acknowledges the other man's abilities. While both men share common ideals, Xu Huang also sees his friend as one of his greatest obstacles to overcome. Xu Huang deeply respects Zhang Liao as a fellow warrior (sometimes they hang out under waterfalls together), as well as Taishi Ci of Wu. Xu Huang's closest friend is Man Chong-- you'd think Man Chong's disorganization would grate on Xu Huang, but he never minds, and is always patient with his old friend.
Xu Huang's weapon of choice is a great axe.
- #15Yue Jinselective
Keys: Yue Jin
Appearance: Yue Jin is a fairly short (5’7”), muscular young man with many battle scars along his arms. He has messy, shaggy brown hair and matching eyes. He’s generally seen in blue armor with hints of gold, and often bares his arms in combat. He’s got a criss-cross scar on his right cheek, and is fond of wearing a long blue scarf with tails that trail behind him.
Personality: He has a slight inferiority complex regarding his short height and will often question his own self-worth, but is supremely confident in his strength to compensate for it. He gets along well with Li Dian, who often chides him for being obsessed with his height inferiority. He looks up to Zhang Liao, and respects the veteran's strength. Yue Jin, by his own admission, does not enjoy being kept defending a castle behind its walls and would much rather be fighting on the front lines as the vanguard. He tends to see himself as expendable- because he simply sees others as more valuable. He’s a speedster, battling fiercely and rapidly using his twin hookswords as a weapon.
- #16Jia Xuselective
Keys: Jia Xu
Appearance: Jia Xu is a 5'8" middle-aged man with a sharp face and dark eyes. He has dark hair past his shoulders that he leaves loose, and is rarely seen without his signature purple bandana/headscarf tied around the top of his head. He has a thin mustache and a sharp goatee. He is typically clad in purple armor and robes, in contrast with the preferred color of blue for most Wei officers. He usually has a hidden knife somewhere on his body.
Personality: Sly and quick-witted, Jia Xu deems his role as a strategist to hold utmost importance to him. Loyalty, fairness, nor patriotism fit his business agenda. Experience has taught him to seek lasting results rather than try to maintain lofty ideals. He will do anything within his power to obtain them. Underhanded tactics are not above his stature; if he feels they give succor to his cause he will use them. Should he meet failure he simply hops to another creative possibility which interests him, and is someone who carefully considers possible setbacks while also deeming them necessary in life.
Jia Xu approaches people with a relaxed, honest and somewhat cynical temperament. His words may have no apparent malice, but they often rouse a feeling of weary caution to those around him. Jia Xu talks with a snappy rhythm and tends to say the phrase, "Aha-haa", a type of amused acknowledgement. Jia Xu is acknowledged multiple times for his immense intellect, including by Cao Cao. Even Guo Jia has the opportunity to state that Jia Xu is the smartest person in Wei. Jia Xu also thinks highly of Xun You, but he also enjoys teasing the man's overly serious-and-occasionally-dull work ethic.
Jia Xu isn't completely detached from his feelings as he seems, given his tendency to chuckle and make light of any situation. Even he is surprised by Dian Wei's demise and Cao Cao's forgiveness. Other spontaneous acts which are beyond his expectations trigger similar dumbfounded reactions from the strategist. He is quite impressed at Cao Pi's talent and ambition, often praising the youth during battle. He is also friends with Guo Jia who he often refers to as "Young Master". Guo Jia entrusts Jia Xu with the task of protecting and serving Cao Cao in the occasion that Guo Jia dies early. Jia Xu is considered the "old man strategist" of the cast, one with sharp eyes and a rhythmic speech pattern. Jia Xu is a character who seemingly "devours other people with his words".
Jia Xu’s weapon of choice is a large sickle on a chain.
- #17Zhang Liaoselective
Keys: Zhang Liao
Appearance:Zhang Liao is a tall man, standing at 6'1". He is strongly built with broad shoulders and visible muscles. He has dark hair cut short, dark piercing eyes, and a short beard/goatee plus a curved mustache. He is typically seen in blue, gold, and silver armor, and has a signature helmet with a white horse hair tuft on top.
Personality:Zhang Liao is a man of honor and will stay virtuous to the very end, no matter what obstacles come his way. Usually calm and just, he is also capable of turning into a fierce beast during battle. He believes that he can only find his true purpose in life during war and walks the warrior's path. While serving Lu Bu, Zhang Liao had the utmost faith in his master's more valiant traits. He was praised as the one of the land's greatest warriors by Lu Bu and the two generals mutually respected each of their strengths. After Lu Bu’s death, he found himself unsure of his path, but chose to follow Cao Cao in order to continue achieving might. He sees Xu Huang as a kindred spirit, who also aims to follow the path a warrior would take. He admires Guan Yu's chivalry and forms a strong friendship with the rival general. He has a rather stiff nature, and is constantly seeking answers about the path of a warrior and to true might. Despite his warrior nature, he does not seek out fights or have any desire for bloodshed.
He tends to constantly be on guard, seeking out weaknesses in the areas around him and remains cautious and alert. Zhang Liao isn’t particularly fond of crowds, but is reverent and loyal to his own men-- he will fight through an enemy army rather than abandon them to save his own life. Zhang Liao is also rather sensitive to his negative connotation as a boogeyman, modeled after the rumors created by mothers from the Wu kingdom as a nod to his deeds in Hefei, and gets rather embarrassed and uncomfortable about his name being used to scare children. He wields large twin axes in battle.
- #18Zhang Heselective
Keys: Zhang He
Appearance: Zhang He is a tall (Standing at 6’4”), feminine, and attractive man with long flowing dark hair worn in a ponytail and matching dark eyes. He embodies a fierce grace, clad in form fitting purple and gold armor.
Personality: Zhang He is a narcissistic character who enjoys aesthetically pleasing things and uses melodramatic theatrical mannerisms. He believes beauty unites the will of land, people, and war. Zhang He is known for his dramatic posing and beautiful dances during wars. Despite his unconventional behavior, his versatility and flawless performance earn him respect from Cao Cao and Sima Yi. Zhang He is charmed by Xiahou Yuan's war tactics and sincerity, He is also known for his musical and literary skills, and is fond of poetry, although his praise is often not appreciated by his comrades.
Despite his flamboyant behavior, Zhang He is a highly capable general of great skill, not to be underestimated. His soldiers are fast, agile, and follow his command without question-- he treats his men well. Zhang He is described to be a resourceful and proficient military leader who was well versed in geography and capable of making accurate predictions about war situations, to the point where even Zhuge Liang is wary of him. Even though he serves in the military, he highly respects Confucian scholars. He once recommended Bei Zhan, a learned scholar who was known for his good moral conduct and who was from the same hometown as him, to serve in the Wei government.
Zhang He wields large dual claws in battle. Though his methods are unorthodox, Cao Cao respects him regardless, due to the good results he brings. He is fond of butterflies, exemplifying them as the epitome of the beauty he seeks to exude. Despite his vain behavior, he does not hesitate to praise those he deems beautiful, and treats women as fellow partners in crime.

Keys: Yu Jin
Appearance: Yu Jin is a tall, muscular, broad-shouldered man standing at 6’5” with neatly trimmed facial hair. His hair is typically tightly pulled back, and his silver and blue armor is immaculately clean and organized.
Personality:Yu Jin is portrayed as a man who strictly follows the law and emphasizes military discipline. He often uses threats of execution to motivate his subordinates and intimidate his enemies, making him feared by both. Yu Jin shows no hesitation to punish anyone for anything he deems as an inconvenience for the army. His strictness, however, often causes many of his men and allies to avoid him, causing him to suffer from loneliness. Stern, unyielding, and righteous. Yu Jin is known for maintaining high standards of discipline in his unit and for never keeping the spoils of war for himself. He shares his spoils from the enemy with his men, and many generals, including Cao Cao, hold him in great respect.
Although he does not show it very openly, Yu Jin cares deeply for the soldiers under his care, and he often ensures to make discipline a priority among them to keep them from suffering a humiliating punishment. If he is not saved in Fan Castle, Yu Jin's first priority upon surrendering is to request that his men be spared from death. His relationship with Pang De often shows mutual respect between the two. While Pang De respects Yu Jin's strong spirit and calm demeanor, Yu Jin praises Pang De for his readiness to accept death more easily.
Yu Jin wields a war trident in battle. He enjoys a game of Go and holds himself to a strict schedule, even with his hobbies and free time.
- #20Cao Caoselective
Keys: Cao Cao
Appearance: A 5'9" man with a thin mustache and long goatee. Ordinary in stature and build, but stands with confidence. Black hair and subtly gray eyes. Often dressed in blue and purple, with gold accents, and rarely seen without a furrow to his brow.
Personality: Cao Cao is seen as a cunning yet feared man. Relentless in his desire to end the land's chaos, he will use any means to achieve his plans, even if it makes him an enemy to the other kingdoms or to the Han Empire. However, he also has a fierce temper and will often scold his men's incompetence if the battle goes badly for him. Cao Cao is able to show more self restraint in terms of his emotions, being able to still act normally and rationally even when close aides such as Dian Wei or Xiahou Yuan die. In his eyes, as the lord of men, he must act to achieve his dreams lest his men simply die for no reason. Cao Cao is serious about ruling the land for the sake of stability, justice and order while being somewhat emotional towards some of his retainers.
Caring little about status or olden traditions, he judges men solely based on their achievements and skill. Belying his bad reputation, he treasures his retainers and will treat them with generosity. He's particularly close to Xiahou Dun, as they seem to instinctively understand one another. Cao Cao also treats Dian Wei as a bodyguard and trusted right hand. Guo Jia acts as Cao Cao's most trusted tactical adviser and the two are implied to share drinks frequently. Many of his retainers admire his integrity and swear to never abandon him in ode to Cao Cao being very close to several of his subjects. He respects his son and is confident that Cao Pi will one day be his able successor. He is also fond of the various arts such as poetry and military tactics.
Cao Cao generally has a stern, professional demeanor-- but will let down his guard for his close companions or those he has a soft spot for. He also really enjoys jokes. His closest companion is his cousin Xiahou Dun. He has a soft spot for Cai Wenji, due to their shared hobbies of poetry and his respect for her father.
He’s a bit of a womanizer-- considering he’s got quite a few wives and concubines. It’s generally for the sake of strong bloodlines though, and he treats his many children, his blood or not, as his own. Has a bit of a thing for married women. Is vegetarian because his primary wife, Lady Bian, insists that meat is wasteful. He's prone to getting migraines due to stress.
Cao Cao's weapon of choice is a jian sword.
- #21Guo Jiaselective
Keys: Guo Jia
Appearance: Guo Jia is a fairly tall, slender and handsome man with a consistently serene smile and short dark blonde hair, with the bangs slightly covering one of his soulful gray eyes. He’s fond of slightly lower cut shirts and sweeping robes in shades of purple and blue, the colors of Wei.
Personality: Guo Jia is described as a talented man of unsurpassed intelligence and foresight. Confident in his abilities, he never fears the thought of entering the fray. He acts composed like a gentleman, a wistful smile present on his lips at all times. He enjoys teasing warriors who are too stiff in their duties. Aware of his limited time and his weakened body, Guo Jia would rather enjoy whatever life he has left than spend his time brooding about his coming death, which he can anticipate happening a decade or so from the present time.
Aside from the thrill of war, he especially loves wine and women. Based on his conversations with Cao Cao, they both enjoy toasting one another cups of wine while fine women dance beside them at banquets as they share a deep, affable trust in one another. He becomes fast friends with Jia Xu and soldiers report the two strategists often talking over cups of wine. He’s also close with Xun Yu and Xun You, having been from the same hometown as both strategists, and the former being among the few aware of Guo Jia's illness. Guo Jia has a very flirty demeanor with women he finds attractive, though he’s polite enough to back off when asked.
Chen Qun often makes many complaints about Guo Jia, saying how Guo is very unbridled in his ways. Guo Jia, however, remains calm in the face of these accusations. Cao Cao still regards Guo Jia highly but is also pleased that Chen Qun stood by his own principles.
Guo Jia’s weapon of choice is a staff.
- #22Xun Yuselective
Keys: Xun Yu
Appearance: Xun Yu is a tall, slender, and handsome man with brown eyes. He has black hair, slightly messy bangs and a long, sleek ponytail tied back with a ribbon. Xun Yu typically dresses in shades of blue and purple trimmed with gold, and is often seen with a nice hat that's got a tall, rounded crown in deep blue with purple and gold accents.
Personality: A gifted intellectual and supporter of the Emperor, Xun Yu has a knack for dispensing invaluable advice and discovering people with talent. Rarely found without his cool demeanor, Xun Yu has a habit of observing the smaller habits and traits of others, even during more casual times like banquets. Xun Yu is a staunch supporter of Cao Cao, believing in the lord's true abilities to rule the land, though is also a staunch Han loyalist and will disapprove if Cao Cao tries to take too much power. He tends to come off as a bit serious, though never fails to be friendly and polite. He’s a gifted negotiator and advisor, with the talent to aid kings.
Xun Yu's closest friend is the relaxed and flirtatious Guo Jia, the two having hailed from the same hometown, and Xun Yu is the only one that is able to catch on to his friend's secret illness. Xun Yu is also close companions with his quiet, modest, and loner cousin Xun You, as well as fellow strategist Man Chong (Who’s a bit more eccentric, messy, and rather obsessed with traps)
Xun Yu’s weapon of choice is a formation rod with a rounded top and sharp point-- held similar to a cane, Xun Yu is able to plant multiples of them for traps and also wield it as a blunt weapon.
- #23Man Chongselective
Keys: Man Chong
Appearance: Man Chong is a tall man with messy brown hair that he keeps tied up in a high ponytail, and warm brown eyes. He’s often dressed in shades of white and blue, though his clothes are never pristine. He’s rarely seen without a smile… and his shirt buttons horribly misaligned, or the knots in his hanfu sloppy and crooked. It’s not uncommon to see him covered in ink from trap designing.
Personality: Man Chong is often shown to be a bit of an in-doors worker who prefers intricacies and has a notable fascination for traps of all kinds. However, he shows indifference to things outside of his work, most notably even in his attire (as both his battle outfit and civilian clothing are poorly done). He’s often messy and disorganized, yet still manages to be a genius despite the fact that he can’t even button his shirt properly. He likes to be entertained, encouraging his companions to throw caution to the wind when they can.
His close companions are Xu Huang (the mighty warrior is an old friend of his) and he loves to plan defensive measures with Cao Ren (Who’s a comedic stoic in comparison to Man Chong’s energy). Man Chong is often bored without a challenge, and takes great joy in teasing his opponents and trying to figure out what his enemies and companions are thinking. He doesn’t care in the slightest what other people think of him, and if someone tries to comment on his perpetually messy state he’ll brush them off immediately-- people always find fault with him, but he doesn’t care. He is ambitious, resolute, courageous and resourceful. He tends to follow the rules when it comes to governance, often going by-the-book when it comes to procedures, sometimes to the point where other people are annoyed or bothered.
Man Chong’s weapon of choice is a pair of short ballistic spears he can fire at people.
- #24Xun Youselective
Keys: Xun You
Appearance: Xun You is a slender 5'7” man with dark and messy unkempt hair, a weary expression, and unshaved stubble. He wears layered, simple clothes in shades of blue that are easy to move in with gloves, since he’s often strategizing on the front lines.
Personality: Xun You is a humble, skilled individual with a calm exterior, but also struggles to give himself enough credit. He feels his capabilities are undervalued compared to others like Jia Xu and his cousin Xun Yu. Xun You is loyal to those who use his strengths. His plans are more safe than risk-versus-reward, adding diversity to Wei's strategists.
Although not seen interacting much with others, his biggest relationships seem to be with Xun Yu and Jia Xu. He is often shown being friendly and sociable with these two in particular. Jia Xu’s flippant attitude and constant pranks get on his nerves at times, but he enjoys the interactions and occasionally tries to get Jia Xu back. Other than this, Xun You prefers to be alone. He wields an urumi in battle.
Xun You is known for being a highly profound and insightful thinker who hides secrets very well. Since he started accompanying Cao Cao on his military campaigns, he has often helped Cao Cao devise and develop strategic plans. Many people, including his family members and relatives, hardly know what’s on his mind or what he has said. He is intelligent but appears foolish; he is courageous but appears cowardly; he is resilient but appears weak. He neither flaunts his talents nor brags about his achievements. He comes off as blunt, a little awkward, and succinct. He gets rather chatty when drunk, though.
