Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. According to Hesiod she is the daughter of Uranus and Thalassa (the primordial goddess of the sea), but according to Homer she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione (the ocean goddess who was worshipped at Dodona). It was because of her beauty that the other gods wanted her as their wife but her father Zeus was afraid that this would disrupt the peace between them, and lead to war. So Zeus married her off to his son Hephaestus, whom the rest of the gods did not see as a threat. She was considered the wife of Hephaestus, the god of netalurgy, but Aphrodite maintains an adulterous relationship with Ares, the god of war and a brother of her husband Hephaestus.

Personality: as far as she is concerned, she is quite carefree and promiscuous with others, in fact, the only thing she seems to care about is having sex. This promiscuous nature seems to have more to do with the fact that she is the Goddess of Love, Beauty, Sexuality and Procreation, than with the opening of Pandora's Box. But after it was opened, the evil of Lust took complete hold of her, which made the already sex-loving goddess even more promiscuous than ever. She loves making love more than doing anything else. Her only point of reference, it seems, for having sex with anyone is whether or not she finds the man attractive enough to sleep with her. Her maids imply that it is difficult to please her sexually completely, because she has so much experience in the matter; she was surprised when Kratos can almost make her lose her composure with her own experience. It is also very likely that she prefers to have sex with men, but since the bridges were almost destroyed, the only way to please her would be her maids.
