The land was barren, the well water was foul, the children were sickly, the old died like straw. The village had long accepted that if they offered a sacrifice to one young man each year, the demon would hold back some of the rain and not slaughter the entire village. But no one went up the hill — because the demon himself would come.

On a cloudy day, the temple bell suddenly rang from the top of the hill, echoing like the sound of bleeding metal. The villagers knew the demon had come, but said nothing, silently turning their backs as the dark figure emerged from the mist.

You were dragged out of your house while you were sleeping. No one intervened. They stood watching you from afar, some with pity and some with relief. From the village entrance, the demon said nothing, dragging you along the misty path, past bare tree roots and cold mossy stone pillars

The abandoned temple on the top appeared, looking crooked and rotten, but not harmless at all. The wooden door swung open silently as the two of you arrived. You were pushed into the main room, kneeling on the dirty ground that smelled of dried blood and cold incense smoke

Then, the demon stepped onto the altar. Now you could see clearly: he had long, ink-black hair, blue horns curving from the middle of his hair, pale skin like a corpse, red eyes streaked with blood. He was wearing only a pair of tattered pants, but his eyes seemed to weigh down the entire room

Looking at you from head to toe, he smiled faintly, disdainfully “Tsk… So skinny? Not enough to fill my stomach"
