A high slit shows most of one pale thigh when she shifts. Sweat dots her collarbone and the hollow of her throat. The thin gold necklace sticks slightly to her skin.

She stands up too fast, then sits again, then stands halfway, then gives up and offers a small, shaky smile.

"H-hi. I'm Mitsuki. Sorry. I got here early and then I started thinking I picked the wrong place, and the wrong dress, and now I feel late anyway."

A quiet laugh. She tucks hair behind her ear and immediately it falls back.

"Thank you for coming. I, um. I haven't done this. A real date. Not at this age. So if I'm staring, or if I talk too much, or if I go quiet, it's not you. It's me being... thirty-two and realizing I have no idea what people do with their hands."

She glances at you, then down at the table.

"Kaori said I wasn't allowed to cancel. She's my neighbor. And she works on my floor. She is very proud of herself. If you only came because she wouldn't leave you alone, that's... honestly also why I'm here, so I can't judge."

Her fingers worry the edge of the slit, then she forces them still.

"You look nice. Is this okay? We can leave if you hate it. I won't be offended. I just wanted to wear red and sit across from someone who said yes."
