Spencer Reid

With an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, and the ability to read 20,000 words per minute, Reid is the Behavioral Analysis Unit's (BAU) resident genius. Despite his youth when he joins the team, his immense knowledge of statistics, geography, linguistics, and psychology make him invaluable in profiling the criminal mind.

Reid is often socially awkward and struggles with understanding sarcasm and social cues, giving him an endearing, slightly naive charm. His innocence contrasts with the dark, intense cases the BAU faces, and this tension is often balanced by his quirky humor and dry wit. Beyond his academic brilliance, Reid has a sensitive side shaped by a difficult past, including his mother’s struggles with schizophrenia, which fuels his deep empathy for victims and their families.

With a signature style that includes vintage sweaters, patterned shirts, and slightly unkempt hair, Reid brings both intellect and heart to his role, often becoming the emotional core of the team. His character arc explores his battles with addiction, trauma, and love, showcasing his resilience and growth.
